I'm liking this week's panel. I like Paula, but I haven't missed her. Whoopi doesn't even bother me half of the time, although I think it depends on what they are discussing.  I think that if they stick with the six of them (Whoopi, Joy, Sarah, Paula, Sunny and Jedi) and interchange them out as days off and vacations necessitate, then next season might not be too bad.

If they HAVE to have a conservative voice on the show, I'd prefer Jed.  I usually disagree with her but at least she seems to have picked up a book other than the Bible.

I think they need to stop trying to "cast" the show.  Forget about filling the Christian chair, the conservative chair, the liberal chair, the funny gal chair, etc.  Just find intelligent, articulate women with some charisma and likability and some idea of what's going on in the world. By all means find women of different ages to give the perspective from young to a more lived in view of the world  Then let them have a discussion.  That was how the show was founded and that is when they had a truly successful group that gelled and gave an entertaining and sometimes informative hour of TV.

I agree with this 100 times over!   This show was never supposed to be  about a liberal/conservative debate.  Just smart women with opinions on family, politics, fashion, tv - whatever they decided to express their views on.

I said this years ago.  Things were fine when we weren't beat over the head with the cohosts political leanings.  We knew Star Jones was a Democrat but she didn't preface every statement with "as a Democrat."  We knew Joy was a Catholic but we didn't see it determine her every response to the topic they were discussing.

They should go back to the way it was.  Have a newspapers on the table and just talk about the headlines.  No agendas. No tit for tat.  Just an open discussion with differing viewpoints.

Exactly. They don't need CCB, airhead Sara Haines, Sunny and Paula all  40 somethings and Jeddiiiiiiah  who is  close enough to 40. Aren't they all 40 something on The Talk, except Sharon?

 How old is Whoopi?

Why did Whoopi keep saying Pokeman, not Pokemon? I thought she was particularly bad today - fussing with the behind the scenes folks, over-acting, being ornery, unprepared about topics and overall not being a team player. Why oh why did they re-sign her? Makes no sense.

I took the millennials topic differently than they did. They took it to a selfish direction, but I thought it meant that millennials prefer to do what’s right over what’s convenient for a lot of people. In other words, that the right thing is important regardless if it’s inconvenient. It didn’t say “the right thing for themselves over everyone else.”

I think it was the way it was worded made it confusing.  The statistic was that ONLY 37% would do the right thing instead of what was best for themselves. So yeah, the interpretation was that Millennials are selfish (63% of them) .   But, as I said above, when you put the word "Always"  into a survey, you skew the results.  If the question was worded "doing the right thing is important, even when it's not best for me", you might get a high percentage to agree.  Instead, at least according to the way whoopi read it, the question was "is it always better to do the right thing, even when it's not good for you?"  A lot of non-selfish people would not want to agree, because they can imagine a scenario in which the "right thing"  would put them in danger. So, it might be better in most, but not all situations.
Whoever did the Millennial survey, wanted to "prove"  that Millennials are selfish.  But all it really proved was that 63% of Millennials would not say that it's ALWAYS better to do the right thing.  Social psychology class taught me that you can "prove"  anything you want with a survey, and then prove the opposite by tweaking the survey questions.

I wish The View wouldn't bother with these phony statistics and surveys, but at least Raven wasn't around for this one - because she often over-reacts, argues, and asks why a different question wasn't asked.   And the whole idea of trying to find a way to describe a generation goes against what the panel has said about other groups.   Why paint a group with a broad brush, when that is what leads to discrimination and prejudice?  Judge me for my actions, not for the race/religion/gender/generation category you want to put me in.

I guess it's time for me to take a break from this show because Miss Whoopi is making me crazy.  When do they go on break?  She knows everything about everything, she has worked with everybody, she  knows how to solve all problems, she is an expert on sexual harrassment, she has Birkenstocks that Julianne Moore is unable to get.  Excuse my rant, I was at the dentist and that makes me cranky.

I feel the same way but don't even have a dentist appt to blame it on.  Today I clicked off because I found the visual of the co-hosts at the table annoying, LOL.   Four smartly dressed women sitting up straight and one bag of laundry laying on the tabletop for support because she can't be bothered to even sit up for 35-40 minutes at a time.   When Whoopi can annoy me with the sound turned off I need a break.

Like any self-proclaimed Sage, she's as old as the earth.  In reality, she claims to only be 60.

So, on today's show we are told that women HAVE to have their own bank accounts.  Whoopi doesn't even like when couples buy things  jointly, because "what happens when you break up?"
Yeah, that doesn't work for everyone.   I've been married a long time.  Our house, cars, furniture, etc. - are all jointly owned.  It's not a problem.  Never once have we been concerned about "who gets it when we break up?"   I can still buy what I want - but I'm thrifty and practical.  I'm sure if I went out and bought a $700 pair of shoes,  we'd have a talk about it.   Not because my husband is controlling, just because - we can't afford that!  (also, because I have no place to go to wear those shoes)

How great to have them talk about Pokémon fanatics without Raven jumping up and down and getting all hyper about it.

That is 180 degrees different than that loon Dr. Laura who I listen to only when I think my blood pressure is too low - she makes it rise!  Why can't any of them agree that there is no one solution that works for everyone for goodness sake.

Agree!  I can't stand Jedidia (or whatever).  Sarah doesn't bother me and I am liking Sunny more and more.  It seems like Sunny is experiencing things in the news herself and we can see a change in her.  I would hope people could empathize with others without a direct link but I am glad Sunny is experiencing some changes in opinions.

Joy is my in and Whoopi is my out.  I do enjoy Whoopi as an actress.

I was a bit disappointed with Sara's stance on "family funds".  Split the cost of a couch?  Her theory was that if her partner spends money in a way that makes her uncomfortable, having "separate accounts" alleviates her angst.  I don't understand that, but .....  So, if they split up, who gets the couch?  I was always a "pool the resources" kind of partner, even if I was contributing the lion's share.

Yes, if my husband was spending thousands of dollars foolishly, the fact that he kept it in a separate account wouldn't help me feel better about it.

Maybe it's because when we married we were both broke, it would have been ridiculous to put such a pittance in two separate accounts.   We lived on his paycheck, and saved mine toward a house down payment.  When you start like that, it's understood that you share everything.  Women need separate bank accounts if they are already established in a career, or have their own business, or if they have children from a previous relationship.

I only this year opened an account of my own.  And it's only because I have a small business, and it's easier for tax purposes to keep it separate.  The profits will just go toward joint expenses eventually.   It wouldn't seem right to do it any other way.

Gah yesterday was so boring.  Now Jebadubya finds Pence boring when just the day before or was it Monday, she couldn't kiss his ass hard enough when they were talking about him on 60 Minutes. Again and Again, she'll yell and argue ad nadseum with Joy and Sunny, but will stop speaking and nod in agreement when Whoopi speaks.  It's infuriating.

Real Time had a better answer as to why Drumph's "kids" are so well behaved-credit goes to the nannies who raised them. Because sure as hell that orange Oranguatan didn't have shit to do with it, so shut up Sara, about giving that asshole any credit, or that was points for you or whatever you said.

Other stuff happened, but my brain is all mush right now.

I would like to chalk it up to nannies, but, all of them have always said how accessible he has been to them, with many good examples, and don't forget the mother  of the oldest three is Ivana and she was portrayed as hands on for the most part too when they were young.  I'm sure they had staff, but, they were there too (I hate Trump so no support for him here politically or otherwise) and Marla Maples said Tiffany always had access to her father, but, she was raised alone and I'm pretty sure there were no nannies in that upbringing.  And interestingly all those children seem very smart, based on their grades.

I think the "key" to the discussion was "disposable" income is what would go into the separate accounts versus what would go into the "joint/family" account.  To me is seems like a very economical perfect idea.  You sit down with your significant other and decide how much each of you will contribute to joint things and how much of the money you earn would be personally disposable.  It's also much easier to keep track in terms of financial accounting.  I think it is important for people to have financial freedom with some of their money whether married or not.

Jedi's was a Clinton 2016 I'm pretty sure if brought back from convention probably had something negative  on it.  Everyone had a sour  look on their face ( as I would as I would as I don't think it's funny to bring a "gift" like that). I liked TI calling Paula and her Christian forgiveness out about being with someone in porn.

^ The best part about the shirts was saying Joy would keep hers because she can always use it as a dustrag. (I would do the same thing, if not just give it to GoodWill). @RickKitchen: I only saw the first two. The one she gave Joy said "Trump 2016" and the next was "Hillary For Prison."

I feel sorry for Raven. I mean, it’s a horrible fate to be both dumb and classless. At least Candace seems nice enough to make up for her lack of brains. I wonder—if Raven is getting the boot (please, all that is holy)—if Joy has something to do with it, because Raven is flat out nasty to her. I would cheer if Joy did rid us of her; Raven is not made for a talkshow and she jerks the wheel of every discussion off into the inane.

T.I. was a decent guest co-host, better than several others they've had.

Joy gave a decent answer to Sara, too, saying that there were also several mothers involved... I doubt Trump did anything except throw money at them (and that includes keeping them employed for life).

I laughed when Jedidiah said she wouldn't want to date an actor after thinking about all of the people he's kissed on the screen.  I was wishing that Candace were there, so they could talk about how her brother has a requirement in every contract he signs that he will only kiss his wife on screen, and if his wife is not his co-star, she has to body double for the co-star.  It's especially weird considering his wife doesn't have the same clause.

I like to hear the women's different views on money matters.

I was first married in the 70's was a student and then a sahm - both my ex and I got "pin money". It was our personal money that we did not have to explain how we spent it ( or not).

These days I'm in a relationship where we have personal money and a household account we both contribute to.

i was raised being told women should have their own money( at a time women were not making their own money). When a relationship comes apart who gets the couch is probably the least of women's issues.

What a nasty and tasteless gift to bring back to your co-workers knowing how polarizing and contentious politics is for many - especially this election cycle.  Good for Joy for expressing the proper "thank you" to such a tacky and "in your face" present.  What, Paula couldn't have found a Cleveland license plate holder?  That would have surely been appreciated far more that the not funny, not thoughtful  and obviously not appreciated crap she chose.

She could have brought something to highlight Cleveland or even Vote shirts.  It was pretty tacky.  The Clinton for Prison shirt was awful.  Just heard a judge has cleared the way for the class action against Trump University.

I thought T. I. did a great job too.  I also caught the look by Raven when he said a guy tried to kiss him.  He also rebuffed a woman who tried to kiss him.

Help me but I will give Trump one thing he stated many years ago.  He said he liked the Japanese style of greeting by slightly bowing ones head in greeting at meetings or new acquaintances.  I agree with this.  I barely like to shake hands and certainly won't kiss someone.

@jumper sage I wasagonna like/love your post until I read your last paragraph and I had to take it back!????

But I agreed and loved everything else.

As for a Raven being rude? Yeah, she is and was today as well when she interrupted Joy and "outed" Joy by snarkily saying to her that Joy thought T.I.'s bling was "FAKE!" when Joy told him she liked his bling. What was she trying to prove? That Joy was being disengenous? What? And when Joy said she me celebrities do that, she snarked and said "NOT T.I.!" Or something like that. And kept interrupting as if SHE is the only person who can speak or represent the LBGTQ community or is some expert and being SOOO smart when she said the cop who shot that councilor wasn't "Caucasian Anerican, or Euro Trash American, or European American" but Hispanic or Latin or "sometimes like that."

it was offensive..

Less said about Paula, the better.

And Hell hath frozeneth overith. Except for her remarks about how that Orange "Angry Groundhog" (TM Jon Stewart) is really not a conservative and his values are more left( yeah, being a racist, misogynist, bigot, and xenophobic asshole and engaging in fear mongering is what the Left/Progressives are all about) and the not wanting to date an actor, I loved the look on her face about dating a pornstar and the way she said "REDEMPTION'"

And the whole discussion about vegetarian v. meat eaters was ridiculous. My mom is a pure vegetarian; my dad eats meat; she knew this before they married and theirs was an arranged marriage-one she agreed to. So STFU Paula, making it sound like eating meat with your hubby is the same as having sex, or that you can't because it is like sex if both of you snarf down meat and it won't be as a whatever experience, if he's a non meat eater.

Joy was wonderful as always.

I see the point, Paula was at the RNC and brought back "souvenirs".  But the tshirt saying "Clinton for Prison 2016"  or whatever, I found in poor taste.  At the convention, people were shouting to "lock her up",  and then talking about Clinton needing to be shot or hanged.  Knowing that Joy likes Hillary Clinton, I thought  Paula brought back something that represented what was terrible about the convention.  Political  Conventions have always focused on the party platform,  what they plan to accomplish.   But this RNC was all about trashing Clinton.  It was distasteful and negative, and Paula brought Joy back something that symbolized that negativity.   She could have brought her an elephant hat, or something silly like that.

I totally believe Whoopi is 60 which makes her 13 years younger than Joy and old enough to be Barbara Walter's child.  Whoopi seems to see being old with being hip. Same with not being attractive or feminine- it's hip!

Whoopi likes to talk about "the good ole days" as if she is a peer of Joy's when she is not. This is just her way of agrandizing herself and wanting to come across older and wiser than she is. She certainly is not young, but her lack of formal education shows through in many arenas. When I'm not angry at her, I feel sorry for her because it must be difficult to sit at that table surrounded by very bright, educated and well read women (with the exception both former child stars).  Whoopi is out of her league which is why she is not able to move the discussion along, she usually stops her with her "look here" statement.

It doesn't appear to me that Whoopi sits around with friends discussing politics, news and giving opinions. Whoopi probably gives advice and hangs up the phone ( to her LAN line) JMHO*

*and yes, I am a few years older than Whoopi

Does a former sports reporter count as a "journalist"?   I think she's an "employee of ABC News" so she thinks she's a news person but then again Whoopi gets her paycheck from the same place, just sayin'.
