I know this has been mentioned before but I now mute the Dr. Rick / Progressive Becoming Your Parents ads.  He was amusing at first — now he just comes across as mean, rude, and cranky.  He got old for me quite a while ago (no pun intended).

Speaking of "old", Bill Glass, who plays him is 80 years old IRL, which is older than I think he looks on the commercials.

I haven’t seen many Christmas ads yet this year, but the one I see continually is one that creeps me out. It’s for Hobby Lobby. Meddling old farts trying to set up young neighbors by leaving crappy homemade decorations in their mailboxes. WTH. For all they know their neighbors aren’t straight, may have anxiety about getting anonymous crap in the mail, might be serial killers. I admit that my opinion may be colored by my dislike of HL.

I don't know who he is or that that is his voice. All I know is that his voice in that commercial and the "jingle" (if you can call it that) are too loud and annoy me no end. It's not in the least bit musical either. If that's supposed to be "cool" count me out. Plus it's quite old now, it's tiring and needs to change.

I like this commercial because I know a young lady who looks exactly like the one in the ad.  However she did not meet her husband via meddling neighbors; she did it the old fashioned way - at a bar.

I would die laughing if one of those crafts contained 2 red cardinals.

For those who are not aware, cardinals are like a lot of other birds where the male of the species is the colorful one and the female are a boring old brown.

I'm getting tired of the Amazon ad where they play "Too Hot Ta Trot" by the Commodores and everyone (including several inanimate objects) keep mouthing to the "Woo!" parts.  I just heard that song and (as I remembered), they do go "Woo!" sometimes, but not nearly as frequently or close together as in the commercial, so the song was manipulated to make it annoying.

Yeah, I liked the first commercial where the statue went "Woo." But the rest are getting tiresome. Would've been funnier in the latest one if they had the dog go "Woo" instead of the gingerbread man.

There is a series of commercials for some drug that, I believe, helps to combat the dyskinesia that can be a side effect of other drugs. One includes a woman taking a walk while holding a travel coffee mug -- we see the mug from her POV as she walks. The thing is, it looks like she is holding the mug way up at face level. It reminds me of the opening scene of Halloween, when we see the Michael Myers POV, through the mask, that is clearly far higher up than a 6-year-old's eyes would be. The other commercial I have seen is a guy who's teaching a class and never once puts down his mug.

I also hate the Amazon "WHOO!" commercials; none of the mouths match the "whoo" very well, which annoys me.

Just when I thought the Jardiance commercials could get more stupid, they came up with a new one. A woman who really can’t sing is now singing the Jardiance song. She sure as hell can’t carry a tune, and it’s just in my opinion a big mess.

The other commercial that I hate is for Verizon and their phones. The last picture of the phone floating on what looks to be human diarrhea is disgusting. Why were they even have to do that? I don’t want to find my iPhone floating in a bowl containing bubbling crap

Some commercial for a booklet called Annuity Dos & Don’ts for Baby Boomers may need a voiceover update (along with a copy change to the cover to “Gen X”): it starts off with “Are you over 50?,” followed by something about getting ready for retirement. Of course, Boomers are over 50, so the ad is not technically incorrect in its wording, but it sounds like it may have been made 20 years ago.

Surely you jest!!  It’s a Gilmore Girls scene — with Kirk and his random delivery job, Luke and his wife Lorelai who is known for her coffee addiction.  The whole scene with the troubadour and la-la-la music is all just swoonworthy to those of us who cherished GG from day one.  IMO nicely done, Walmart!  

But to be fair, if someone never watched GG, I can see how it might not make any sense.  But lots of commercials are a little niche like this one is.

Whether I watched the show or not,  how would a loyal customer ordering lots of coffee put someone out of business?  Why would you drive away a loyal customer ?

There's a commercial with a kid singing to his mother (I think) in Spanish. Is it my imagination or is this commercial significantly louder than others? It seems like it, anyway, and the kid has kind of a piercing voice. Between the two, I can't switch away from it fast enough.

I've never watched Gilmore Girls.  Seems a little stupid to have a commercial which only makes sense to a very small segment of the tv viewing populace, but I'm not Walmart's ad agency, so what do I know.

The one with "Mamacita, donde esta Santa Claus" in it?  Yeah, it does seem louder.  I liked the Amazon commercial from last year which used it, the one with the llamas grooving to it in a barn all decked out in Xmas decorations.  This year's (Zales and its overpriced jewelry) annoys the living fuck out of me.  Which is, I suppose, a testament to just how much I'm willing to forgive if llamas are involved.

Yes. The pilot episode of Gilmore Girls establishes that Lorelai is a coffee addict. The joke of the commercial is, when Luke and Lorelai finally get together, Lorelai is drinking all of the coffee for free that is meant for paying customers. I can see where it would fall flat with those not familiar with the show.

I surmised from the ad he was giving her free coffee because of his comment about ruining his business or something to that effect, not the show. But knowing the show it makes sense.

I have a similar complaint about the discover matt Leinart commercial. 

 

First of all no ones recognizing matt Leinart in public. Especially a 10 year old girl. 

Second he's just wandering around spending money so he can get the 1-2% cash back ?  So dumb.  

 

Edited to add also any discover commercial with Jennifer Coolidge in it. She's annoying.
