Did I just hear Elise call Trump a scumbag?

I KNOW! Is a TV reporter allowed to do that? Is that kosher, especially for a major network?

I just heard Lanny Davis (Cohen's attorney) over on NPR say that under no circumstances would his client accept a pardon from a besmirched President such as trump.  I hope Meeks covers this, coz I think it was an interview just for NPR.

Wow--I just now started watching rather than just listening this AM.  Meeks looks great! She is glowing.  Ok, i'm ebil---plastic surgery?  Is that the reason?  Or South of France?  I need to start a survey monkey!

Kasie gets a lightning-bolt-free intro from Mika.

And Scarborough takes a snow day on the morning after the biggest stories of the year.

Joe is "filing" with the Washington Post. Except no, that's the term used for turning in a reporter's story.

Joe is writing one of his ego filled op eds, and emailing it to WaPo, per the terms of his contract with them.

Stop trying to make him sound like Woodward & Bernstein, Mika.

You two got paid by MSNBC to help Trump get air time and in turn elected, so you didn't break any laws, but you're complicit.

Meh.  She hasn't said much.  The panelists are great and yesterday was one of the biggest news days possible.  Experts are being allowed to speak expertly, and we all are enjoying the rush of Trump being humiliated as we can all say "We all knew he's a criminal."
She's said "The president has no clothes" 3x at different times.  She's said, "Um.  Wow," at least 3x, as her thoughtful response to the reported news.  And she's described Cohen as "being in it" 3x as well.  She's had 9 opportunities to opine, and she just repeatedly burps those syllables as if it's discourse.  Same Mika to me.

Elise calling Trump a scumbag so coolly and easily shocked me.  I was at first, "Yeah she's right," and then thought "She just called the PRESIDENT a scumbag on a news show."

Today's show was like a breath of fresh air in the vast wasteland that the 6 - 9 hour has become.  Congratulations, Mika.  Congratulations, panel. Thank you, Show, for Joe's absence.  Is there any way to give him as much time away as Mika has managed to take off?  Or better yet, could you please take this show away from him altogether and give it to someone worth watching; someone who doesn't make me scream at the TV; someone who doesn't cause me to switch to CNN; someone intelligent and respectful?  Perhaps even charming??  Stephanie.  Nicolle.  Somebody!!!

In a nutshell Oakville, Meeks was in (and lucid) and Joe is tweeting/writing from his bunker.  As blowhard wasn't there, the subject matter experts were allowed to do their jobs properly and a good time was had by all.

Oh and Elise Jordan called the unindicted co-conspirator a scumbag.

Hope things are going well for you my friend!

Mika lets people speak, I'll give her that,  but she's in over her head as usual.  She couldn't control her excitement at being able to insult the man who told the world she had a face lift.  The same man she giggled with, and helped prep for debates.

She had to be peeing her pants last night knowing she would get to host this morning, except most people who follow politics already knew everything that had happened, so this is just a rehash of last night, and personally I wasn't learning anything new or interesting.

She never really says much; it is thanks to the panelists that today was so much better than previous days.  Well, that and because it is such a big news morning; and that Meeka let's the guests speak.  To me that is about her only talent.  Sorry, that sounds harsh; she isn't a bad person.  She is just an opportunist and who can really blame her for that? Strike while the iron is  hot or some such.

I agree with this. She is awake this morning but besides not interrupting she adds nothing, asks no good questions and makes no clever comments insights weren’t today’s guests mostly the usual suspects, none of the better guests that were working it last night and CNN today ( Avenatti, Lanny Davis, former SDNY staff  etc). EVERY other show I watched last night, and I saw a lot of CNN and MSNBC (insomnia), did such a better job of taking this news apart in depth. This show has really became on a. professionalism level akin to a local cable access show.

Joe is absolutely awful as an interview show host, as we know.

Mika is pointless and somewhat of a sad joke as a host/ co host and I won’t praise her for speaking in complete sentences when he’s not there just because she’s a woman/hostage and we try to support.

The show is an absolute joke and seems to be a vanity project on one of the 3 major news networks and that’s never more evident and annoying on a day like today when they should be in their wheelhouse. If they can’t get current politicians on and top level sources on then what is their point?  On that point when’s the last time Joe has mentioned “my friends from the top levels of “whatever industry is relevant”  are calling me...? Has he stopped this?

  • Love 2

I agree, Mika doesn't add anything of substance to the show.  However, as has been stated, she does allow the panelists to speak.  She doesn't jump in to override their opinions or contradict them or to brag about how she knows something they don't or to make fun of them.  That being said, she probably doesn't do all of those things because she doesn't have much of an intellectual handle on what they're talking about, and she certainly has no sense of humor.  But I'll take her rather clueless style of moderating over The Blowhard's bloviating any day.  -  Oh how I dread his return.  Seriously dread it.

They just had a screen where there were people in 7 blocks.  They each have 1 camera.  Podhoretz and Donnie are together, with Katty? but Wittes, Eddie, Sam and Mika are in different locations.  I think it lowers the quality of the program.  On the other hand, kudos to the production staff to cobble together this kaleidoscope of opinions in different locations.
Ugh, they are interrupting each other.  (Mika just said "ain't."  Christ, that hurt my ears.)  Way to talk over Wittes to make your dopey pre-planned comment on a "fish flipping on the dock," Meeks.

  • Love 2

She just said, "Bless his heart.  Y'all know what that means in the South."  Christ amighty, Mika.  Cut that shit out.  Her fake southern accent is so affected it hurts.  I winced.

Perhaps I'm being too critical.  If I had spent the past 2 months in Nantucket with my girl, and came home and threw out, "Lahbstah," I would think I'm being funny and nobody would be critical.

How sweet, an homage to her as he has called himself Redneck Riviera fiancé.  I have to leave now, I cannot take another second of hearing how worried the republicans are as they are going to do squat about it.  Blech.

"Whether you call it narcissism or intense self-absorbtion."  Um, those are exactly the same thing.  That from someone named Jeremy, I think.

If they are going to run the show as eight necklace locket pictures, they need to find a better way to display them on the screen.  It's just not attractive.

ETA: just saw Katty Kay, whose face is stretched so tight that she has no facial movement. Oy.

I am not a fan of Jeremy Peters.  I find him to be a huge smug, smarty pants.  The last straw was when he was chasing Dershowitz around Martha's Vineyard to write not one but two articles about him and how he was being treated for being supportive of the unindicated co-conspirator.  Boo.

  • Love 4

You have to slam a full cup of coffee every time Mika says any variant of:  But when are the Republicans going to do something?
Jeremy just cogently explained why the GOP won't fall out of ranks, and Mika's reply was something like:  But when is enough enough? or But why won't someone do something?  or When are they going to X, Y, Z?   He just explained it to you, Mika.  He literally just explained it to you.  She is so out of her depth it's astonishing.

I wish that interviewer for Fox had thought bubbles we could read as she interviewed Trump.

Taking all comments on board, given the choice between Joe, Willie and Mika for today’s news I prefer Mika.   She’s no Heidi or Nicolle (who managed the big 4pm hour brilliantly on Tuesday) but she keeps the conversation going and is engaged.  Joe would push himself into every issue and Willie (who is presumably on vacation)  is too laid back and not really a political animal.

  • Love 5

Mika is so unprofessional it's ridiculous. Sneering at Karen McDougall and Stephanie Clifford "Playboy bunny & porn star", because we know it's okay to have an affair as long as it's with your coworker, and you come from a well respected DC family.  Porn stars and Playmates pose naked or have sex for money, how gross,  while cable news hosts just have sex for a better salary, and have their picture taken crouching on a table in a short skirt and stiletto heels with their leg in the air while they boyfriend sits there smirking.

If she can't host the show without being so hysterical she really should find another line of work.  Yes Mika we all know he's a criminal, a scumbag, a liar, a racist.

Shame you didn't realize that back in 2015-2016 when you were kissing his ass.

  • Love 16

Ha.  A documentary filmmaker shows a 2 minute clip of his movie.  It ends and Mika is on camera.  She's got ZERO to say and is nervous.  "[fake gravitas and emotion] Oh.  Wow.  That's amazing.  Eddie Glaude?"  She SO depends on kicking it to Joe or someone else for thoughtful discourse.  She has absolutely no opinion on what she's seen in the clips, or any pre-arranged comments/questions, and nothing personally to pull from to comment off the cuff.  Like... You went to high school, Mika, you idiot, what was YOUR experience of race as a socializing factor in school?    But woops, ya got nothin' for us.
I guess this is knowing your value.  Sometimes when you have no value, just know to get out of the way.

  • Love 7

If Mika never again says, "Wow....Wow." I'd live happily.  That's about all she says anymore.

Donnie Duetsch, Michael Cohen's BFF.  If I was watching rather than listening, I'm sure I would have seen the matching braided string bracelets that he and Cohen both wear. As for Cohen--as I am a official Goy perhaps I shouldn't say this, but I am INSULTED over Cohen's latent Jewish/Holocaust guilt that is supposedly now surfacing.  You were a scumbag extension of Donald Trump for all these years and NOW conveniently your Grandfather who survived the Holocaust got to your conscience?  You are up to something, don't know what yet, but Scoop will hopefully ferret it out.

edited to add:  Big kudos to your last post, teddysmom. All these teevee types are either looking down their noses at porn stars and Playboy bunnies, or being politically correct and calling them "Sex workers." (I love that moniker!) Anyway, Trump is sooo uncool--yes, let's be an old guy having sex with porn stars and Playboy bunnies--1975 is calling, Donald.

Ok, this has gone from the ridiculous to the sublime.  Joe is in (bunker) and Mika is out (she has the morning off).  Geez what a racket . . . at least the in studio table is well attended.

I have been reluctant to entertain the suggestions that something is amiss between the two but this alternating days schedule seems suspicious.   That, and there's a new Morning Joe graphic as they go into commercials showing Scarborough standing very much alone on some steps.

Maybe it's best Meeks is off as today is off to a bro-tastic start with all the Pecker jokes.

Beavis and Butthead called.   They want their gig back.

The first time?  Har, har, Heilman.   But the second?  And third?   Cringeworthy.   Especially with ladies on the set.  Think about it.  Pecker jokes in mixed company.   In a professional work setting.   By some definitions, that might constitute sexual harassment.   But they're too bro-tastic to even consider it.

And yet they're the first ones to call someone else out about that behavior.  But it's so second nature to them that when they exhibit any sexism/harrassment, it's not even on their radar.  They were like a bunch of pre-pubescent (sp) boys this morning.  Too bad Mommy Meeka wasn't there, all a-twitter and tsk-tsking.  And trying to go to break to shut the whole thing down, with Joe talking right over her like she wasn't even there.  You know, like always.

C'mon.  His name is "Pecker."  And he's a horrifying human.  All shade thrown is fine, no matter how schoolyardy.  Last night Rachel Maddow couldn't stop giggling when she said "Pecker."  She said I'm 45 years old and I'm laughing  I'm just a 9 year old 5x over.  Then she said, Pecker puts the potus in a pickle.  I laughed.

It's officially a "thing" that Meeks isn't working.  Something's afoot.  It sucks we have no insiders in the know to share gossip.

Somehow Joe is even worse at reading the news and doing the transition things.

By my unofficial count:

Mika’s at 50 days off since January 2018.

The last time she and Joe sat in the same studio? July.

Nice gig if you can get it.  Not working = $$$$.  Who knows; maybe TPTB realize what a useless twit she is and don't mind paying her for not showing up and demeaning their stupid little show even more than Joe does already.  But here's the puzzlement:  She can pull it off when she's by herself, even with her usual missteps.  Maybe she's faking it but she does seem to noticeably blossom  when she's on her own.  Is she really that intimidated by her boyfriend?  Must be.  There's no other accounting for the Sybil-ness of it all.

Too many guys on the panel today, at least when I was watching intermittently.  And Joe's hair.  Gah.  Why does he insist on parting it on the right when it is so blatantly resisting that?  Either part it on the other side (I think he used to) or cut the whole damn thing shorter so it doesn't need a part at all.  His head looks like he's sporting a bump-it.
