There are two versions of that commercial. One where he just makes the comparison and ends with the riff. And there is a slightly longer version where Mika shows up at the end and says, "That sounds like the blues."

Oh good lord. Gimme a bucket, I'm going to throw up.

The thing is, the kind of horserace inside baseball crap they discuss on this show now is symptomatic of that very dysfunction they claim to be decrying. What they should be doing is educating their audience about the issues. When Gillian Tett was on Monday discussing the FT interview with Trump on North Korea etc., it was a throwback to better days on this show, when she was on all the time. This morning we get dead-eyes Harold Ford Jr and national poll figures. Just great.

I'm so glad I'm at work when the show airs and have your recaps instead as I'd rather read about this than see it.  Please be ultra descriptive when the moment occurs.  Please and thank you.

I can't wait to retire in a few years and do full extensive recaps of 3 hours of Morning Joe. This show is so snark worthy it is off the charts!. I predict a Today Show wedding with Matt Lauer presiding over Mika & Joe's nuptials!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who immediately thought of Joe after hearing the Bannon news. Yes, he'll be insufferable tomorrow.

I wonder if this falls into the You-know-you-watch-too-much-MJ-when category?

The horse race poll coverage drives me bonkers!. They spent 18 months covering the race with polls should have shown them that it is a waste of time. The exit polls were wrong as well. Mika & Joe have a responsibility to focus on the issues with good guests. They should stop using polls to justify their hatred for Trump. I bet they would turn on a dime & become Pro - Trump if he invited them back to Mar A Largo.

Thursday Recap.

The show opened with Joe in the Bunker wearing a Blue Blazer & Mika in the studio wearing a navy sweater with a 2 white collars. She looked like  school teacher. No introductions of the rest of the panel until a few minutes later,

As I predicted , Joe complimented Trump.

Joe said the President righted himself .

Mika was giddy at reading the NY Times & Bloomeberg piece about Bannon losing his NSC seat. McMaster took charge and added Rick Perry & the UN Ambassador to the committe.

Joe said he was right that Trump was fed up with the President Bannon stories. Joe said Trump i the President and was the guy that came up with being tough on Japan & China in the 1980's.

Joe said Trump doesn't like polls at 38%.

Joe  said Bannon complained about Jared which is a no no.

Joe laughed that Bannon threatened to quit, but it was not taken seriosly.

Joe said that Trump blamed Bannon for Health Care tough talk with Freedom Caucus. Joe said the immigration orders were Bannon's idea.

Joe said Bannon is in a death spiral and is now stuck with trying to deal with health care.

Joe said Bannon will be running a Super pack for the Mercers within a year.

Haas said Trump has a big inbox with Korea & Syria.

Halperin said Trump is becoming a normal President.

Mika is mad that Trump is defending Oreilly.

Joe is giving advvice to Trump on how to answer questions . He has to focus on Syria not bill O reilly.

Marcia Brady said the staffers have to tell Trump to not answer those questions about Fox.

Mika is mad at Fox News for their treatment of women . Mika had no comment on how MSNBC removed several African Americans from their lineup. In previous interviews, Mika was happy that "our people" are in charge of MSNBC.

Mika wants women & advertisers to speak up over Oreilly.

Joe is happy that Trump can work with allies in the Middle East like Egypt & Jordan to fix Syria

The panel made fun of Bannon for saying he was babysitting Flynn. Flynn is mad at Bannon for saying he had to be babysat.

Joe mocked Bannon for thinking he was so important to Trump. Trump worldview was crated in the 1980's.

Joe said letting Bannon work on healthcare is worse than a firing. Joe predicts Bannon will leave the White House quietly.

Mika called Sean Spicy! Mika has nothing but disdain for Bannon.

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough

Looks like 2 glamorous Beat Poets to me.

I overslept this AM and was DISTRAUGHT that i would miss the 6 Am Bannon Beatdown.  I knew oakville would have it covered, but it would not be as delicious as hearing it alive. "Death Spiral"--heeee.

Hey guys, Halperin is reporting from Florida in his Palm Beach light blue shirt with an open collar.  I heard him saying something that I swear was "....and North Korea mishegas."  Later upon reflection I assumed it was "North Korea missile test."  Heee again.

Why does Nikki Haley sound so unqualified when she speaks?  I mean, being a governor is a big job, she has to have qualifications.   (remembers Sara Palin and then goes "ohhhhhhh")

I look at these photos and cannot stop wondering what in the fuck are they thinking?  I mean if they want to pay to have dippy photos taken for their personal use, have at it. But for MSNBC to use this bullshit to promote the show.

What other show does this?  Anywhere?   At least put a headline on it "FUCKING SINCE 2010" and get it over with so we can stop this insanity.

If I was Mika's or Joe's kids I would change my name and move to Europe.  This is more embarrassing/hilarious than me singing "Can't Smile Without You" to my dog last night while he barks at me, as if begging me to stop.

I have seen the lamest minds of my generation destroyed by polls and inside gossip, mealy-mouthed name-dropping, dragging themselves in Brooks Brothers through Washington DC.....

My apologies to Allen Ginsberg.

You know, if Mika wore nothing but black turtlenecks on air it would be fine by me. When I watch my local news - and even GMA or Today - the women anchors look like they're either going to hit the club or host a cotillion. A turtleneck is at least more professional.

Halperin said Trump is becoming a normal President.

And this, right here, is why Halperin is an idiot. Just because Trump blunders his way into doing something not totally disastrous does NOT make him a "normal" president, nor will he EVER be one.

The man is a blithering idiot and I am so heartily sick of everyone on this show treating him like someone who could ever possibly, conceivably, remotely become fit for the office he holds.

In other news, there is yet another Morning Joe promo commercial with Mika talking to a bunch of funhouse mirrors about perception versus reality. Joe pops up at the end and the two of them gaze at one another's warped faces. It's creepy and unsettling.

As a side note, I couldn't care less what Mika wears on air.

Mika used to wear sleeveless dresses with high heels regularly. They used to have a segment around 715 am where they went to a high glass cocktail table & read the newspaper. Mika would show off her legs. Joe usually had a black marker or highlighter as he went through the news articles. Sometimes Willie would try to squeeze in to the table but it was awkward.

i wonder if they will have a special 50th birthday party for Mika next month?

Even on DVR I can't manage to get thru this whole show.  Today I lasted about 30 minutes.

I so agree with you Eliot - no way is this man fit for the office of President.

Isn't it too early to say how Presidential he was yesterday in the Rose Garden - doesn't it matter what he does not what he says?  So he's appalled at the use of chemical weapons because it was used on "even beautiful babies"?  Does that mean if they were ugly he wouldn't be?

Well, in fairness, not just this show. Remember the kvelling the mainstream media did after Trump's State of the Union address? And if you look on Twitter, they're at it again because he came out yesterday against gassing Syrian babies.

Halperin is one of those nerdy weasels from school who is always trying to assess who's the alpha and running over to the alpha's side. Which is why I appreciate Elise Jordan calling Trump "morally bankrupt" this morning. And she's a Republican (or at least, worked for Rand Paul.) And she slowed everyone's roll a few weeks ago when they were talking what a sacrifice it was for Jared to leave his businesses to work for the White House.

My most charitable interpretation is that portraying 45 as anything other than the disaster he is is their only way to stave off a national panic.

Elise Jordan doesn't share my political philosophy, but I don't mind her because at least she's intelligent.

To be fair, no one ever knows where Trump is going to land on anything.

His staff was probably praying "say you're against it, say you're against it" when he walked to podium in Rose Garden.

I'm sure Joe will have some sage advice for the Dems tomorrow on the Gorsuch confirmation. How dare you vote against a man who would prefer a trucker freeze to death rather than interpret the law in a way that allows a person to not die to keep their job?

I can only wish - that would be a freaking delightful bubble bath compared to what I predict will be on tomorrow. Blowhard is tweeting that McCain and Rubio will be on to discuss the strikes. It'll be full 45 hard ons all around-- bunch of attaboys and 'omg! Like, presidential has finally happened!'

Maybe they'll even be in their best PJs

Syrian Military Anticipated US Raid

As fast as these things move, this story -- that the whole thing was staged -- might just skitter its way up to the top of the froth for Mika to grab it and say "hey, what's this?" just so she can see the look on Joe's face when he realizes what really happened, what these incompetent freaks and fools did this time.  Twitler's handlers want Twitler to have the surge in popularity a real wartime president always gets.  They have to be just fit-to-be-tied that Twitler only had a bounce for maybe six hours -- or at least that's how the story will go in my head, at least until I can stop breaking stuff.

Friday Recap. Mika is wearing a brown v cut turtleneck. Joe is wearing a suit. They are in washington studio together.

It's a serious panel today. Joe supports the syrian missile strike. Everyone on the panel supported the strikes. They are happy that Trump was decisive whereas Obama was a wimp. Mccain & Graham are supporting. There may be long term consequences about a war in Syria. Joe crowed that Bannon wasn't in Palm Beach.

The next segment was Palace Intrigue which the shows specializes in. Joe said Bannon was insulting Kushner to his face. Joe said Bannon will lose to Kushner because Trump value family.

Clinton recommended bombing the airfields.

Joe said everyone hates Bannon.

Tom Friedman does not like using poison gas. He said it was a good idea for Trump to retaliate. WMD are a no go.

He then wanted to try and sell his book ....

David Ignatius likes the Trump pivot.

Joe said this move before dinner with the Chinese shows that they are serious about North Korea. Trump could bomb North Korea as well without chinese permission.

The USA was polite and notified the Russians ahead of time about the airstrike so that they wouldn't be hurt.

Mika played with her hair during the first show & gazed at Joe. She was happy that they could be on set together.

This is a good show today so far. Joe is definitely on Team JaredKushner.

The Emiraties & Saudies love Jared. Ignatius said that Jared is bonding the Trump family with the National Security Team.

Ignatius wants a Jared Kushner T shirt.

Just now, Eliot said:

Mike Lee was on the show and discussed, without a trace of irony, how he wished Trump would have come to Congress for authorization. Not one single person on the panel pointed out what happened when Obama tried this.

I was wondering if anyone had the cheek to fix his or her mouth to mention this.  I only lasted a few minutes through the slap-Drumpf-on-the-back-a-thon.  First Senator McCain, who has never seen a conflict he didn't want to participate in.  Then thirsty Marco Rubio.

Kudos to those who were able to hang in there.  Between Meek-a's adoring gazes, the mewling about the jobs numbers, and the chest beating and trashing of President Obama's strategy to keep American troops out of Syria to avoid an endless quagmire, I was through.  Those who wanted a "more muscular" foreign policy are undoubtedly popping champagne corks.  Meanwhile, they only give lip service to the possible long-term consequences.  Some of us have seen this particular movie play out ever since 2001 and it doesn't end well.

As for Joe crowing about Sir Funk-a-Lot not being in Palm Beach...um, Joe--neither are you.

Hey Joe. You  & your panel might want to read this.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/01/world/middleeast/syria.html

Exactly.  And, even more illustrative are the readers' comments accompanying the article, i.e. no American interests in Syria, disgust with Congress' inaction and the "madness" of putting American troops in harm's way once again.

It's interesting that Joe actually wore a suit today.  I had to actually do a double take.  Am I to assume that his attire is indicative of when he actually approves of something that Drumpf is doing?  Normally, he looks like a sloth who doesn't have two fucks to give.  He and Meek-a are both sipping the Fool-Aid today but I wonder how long it will before they are back to bitching about the man they nakedly supported for several months last year.

Because their boy is pushing Bannon out, and they'll have more influence.  TBH, Kushner's a doofus, but if he can get rid of Bannon, I won't complain.

Joe was right (barf) about one thing. Just like in The Godfather, don't ever go against family.   If they can get rid of Bannon and all those other psychos, Conway, Miller etc. and maybe get Trump to moderate a little, it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world. Trump's only ideology is "Love me" and he is seeing Bannon's policies blowing up in his face day after day.

I will not be holding my breath.

My favorite part was when Bob Woodward said that it was a feckless half-measure that appeared more symbolic than truly effective, because there are at least 5 other airfields from where military flights could originate.
Then he said, "You know who struck with authority bent on total destruction?  Bill Clinton when he launched massive attacks into Iraq..." and of course Joe practically leapt out of his seat to interrupt him and sent the conversation to Ignatious.  Joe was NOT HAVING IT that it was a symbolic half-measure and nothing compared to Clinton.  Woodward tried again and the 2nd time Joe cut him off even sooner.

I noticed a tone shift throughout the morning. The first half hour of the show was somber and surprisingly circumspect. However after McCain came on and blew smoke up their asses (claiming this was the best foreign policy team of any administration he's worked with) all bets were off. Ignatius practically burst out of his pants claiming this was a "turning point" for the Trump presidency. How excited they are about a potential conflict that none of their children or their friends' children will ever have to worry about fighting in.

Kelly Ayotte is such a clown. Trump goofed on her on the stump and then taunted her when he won and she lost. And now she's carrying water for him. Pathetic.

Lol at Woodward claiming how decisive and tough Bill Clinton was. Yeah, bombing a country to distract from your impeachment is real tough guy stuff. And look at all the good it did. Meanwhile they kept cutting to that footage of Mrs. Clinton screeching about bombing air fields at her rich white women conference yesterday. Again, someone whose kid or grandchildren won't have to dirty their hands wherever this takes us.

My husband has been begging me to stop watching this show in the morning and today might have actually convinced me to do so. It wasn't all the Trump ass-kissing on the Syria bombing even though I have major issues with that. It was the interview with John McCain. After the Syria talk, they finally asked him about the Senate using the nuclear option on Gorsuch. He got all pompous about how ending the fillibuster ruins the Senate and how Benjamin Franklin is rolling in his grave. MIka and Joe then thanked him profusely for being on the show and ended the interview. How in the world did neither of them think to ask McCain why he voted for the nuclear option if he thinks it is such a terrible idea?!! God forbid we actually put McCain on the spot for once about his habit of spouting his morally superior "maverick" soundbites while at the same time voting in lock-step with the rest of the Republicans.

I'm not married but the looks my dog gives me is his little way of saying "Mom, watch something else! You're stressing ME out!"

Colbert called McCain a "stupid idiot", which is what McCain said anyone who voted for nuclear option was.  Nice to know once again it's not the brilliant Washington insider team calling him out, it was a late night comedian.

But Joe had no problem getting in Jim Himes' (D-CT)  face about whether he supported the bombing.

  • I turned this on this morning, saw how pumped up they were on trump and promptly turned the tv off.  In today's Washington Post OpEP section, David Ignatius has an essay in which he talks about how trump's wariness on Syria had been like President Obama's and that trump opposed intervening.  Ignatius also writes "given that trump's view of Syria was so similar to Obama's, his attempt to blame the latest chemical attack there on his predecessor's alleged weakness was especially dubious."

Good point ShuFace88 about why didn't they ask McCain why he voted for the nuclear option if it was so horrible.  But then on this show they only bring up such things if its against Clinton (Bill or Hilary) and Obama.

So Joe finally emerges from his bat-cave when something "big" happens. Is that a clue why he's gone so much? Is he getting tired of the show (or of Mika?!)  Anyhow, I'm no Joe-fan but if he's playing any role in diminishing Skeletor Bannon then kudos for him. I don't know Kushner from Adam but surely anybody's better than an anarchic alcoholic "Leninist" in charge of our weakening democracy. Yes, I'm sure that's exactly what it means.  By the way, I'm always pissed off at how tRump requires physical 'perfection' (his version of it anyway) in the women around him, when he himself is a ruddy-faced, overweight, double-chinned, cotton candy coiffed walking nightmare.  Money sure does talk.  But to bring this back on-topic, for months now (if not longer; maybe since their romance was outed) Mika and Joe's wardrobes have been cutesy-color co-ordinated just about every day.  That cannot be coincidental, and I have no idea why it bothers me, but it does. Maybe because it's so juvenile......oh wait....just remembered who I'm talking about here.  (If my first sentence doesn't make sense, I was trying to quote abbyzenn's post above about DT's supposed horror at the gassing of "beautiful babies" but not ugly ones; I screwed up the quote function.

Catching up with the rest of Friday's show.

Woodward said that Obama abandoned the Gulf States by not fighting Iranian proxies in SyriA.

Friedman said the Gulf States support the Sunnis & Iran & Russia support the Shiites. Assad is Alawaite which is close to Shiites.

Joe said many Sunni leaders called him during the Obama administration to complain about Obama doing nothing in Syria.

Joe said that when Obama said that Mubarak must go it was like a knife in the back to Egyptians. Joe said everyone he talks to from the Middle East is happy that Obama is gone. Trump is a good friend of Mr Sisi. The Egyptians love Trump because he treats Sisi with respect.

Somebody on the panel told Joe that Saudi Wahabism is just as bad as Isis, Joe ignored them.

Joe said he like Margarat Thatcher. She was a real leader. He said Hillary should stop whining about the election loss. She was a horrible candidate according to Joe.

The panel was friendly with John McCain. He loves Trumps National Security Team. He talks to them regularly with lists of countries that should be invaded.

During the interview with Rubio, Joe said he got a text from an important Ambassador that agreed with him about Syria!. I nearly fell off my couch laughing.

Joe said that Rubio was growing up as a Senator.

There are other groups in Syria like the Kurds. They are helping get rid of Isis, but the Turks don't like them.
