  1. I'm surprised the candidates who come on the show don't have a better prepared answer to Bill's question about Trump not leaving. He asks it every show. I would say something along the lines of "Once John Roberts administers the oath of office, the Secret Service and US Marshalls now work for me. They don't take too kindly to unauthorized people in the Oval Office".
  2. I agree! He gave the best answer I have heard in years about the late term abortion fear mongering by the right. I love how he pointed out how these pregnancies were wanted and meant to go full term but tragic circumstances intervened and now the families have a terrible decision to make. He asked how the government making this decision is better than the mother, her doctor and her religious or spiritual counselor? I would love to see him in a Vice-Presidential debate against MIke Pence.
  3. And then Donny calls them both heroes. Mayor Pete is a hero. He served his country in the military, is trying to make his city better and has an inspiring personal story. But Tiger Woods?!! He hits a ball into a hole and destroyed his family by making a series of extremely selfish choices. How is that comparable? Of course, Donny couldn't resist taking a shot at Hillary at the same time by saying she was not "heroic". That's right Donny. The former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State has got nothing on Tiger Woods!
  4. I turned on the show during Malcolm Nance's appearance. I enjoyed (and feared) listening to Malcolm and Steve Schmidt talk about how Trump is demolishing our relationships with our allies around the world and how Putin is pulling Trump's strings. "Useful idiot" is my favorite phrase used to describe Trumps relationship with Putin. I especially enjoyed Joe sitting between them like he was at a tennis match, not being able to get a word in.
  5. Chris Matthews' tirade against the "elitist" and "academic" Democrats made my blood boil! I need someone to ask him or Barnicle or Scarborough when was the last time they mowed their own lawn or changed the oil in their car? Last I checked, none of them lived in a 1500 square foot ranch house in Scranton or Oshkosh. This show seriously needs some new blood!
  6. Someone needs to tell Bill that Free Speech means you will not be arrested and thrown in jail for what you say. That does not mean you can bully and harass and degrade other people and they just have to sit back and take it. It also does not mean companies have to subsidize your hateful or obnoxious or just rude speech. Laura Ingrahm does not have a first amendment right to have her own TV show. That is up to the network and her sponsors. She is free to be like Alex Jones and set up her own home studio and YouTube channel if she wants to.
  7. I would love 3 hours of Velshi and Ruhle! They have such respect for one another and can cover a variety of topics. I would also like to see Craig Melvin paired with someone to replace Joe and Mika. Maybe Kristen Welker or Hallie Jackson? If they really wanted to stay with the idea of a couple, Craig's wife (Lindsay Czarniak) has left her job at ESPN. I have loved these two together since they were both on my local news. At least Lindsay wouldn't start cleaning out her purse every time the conversation turned to a baseball or football game. I enjoyed the conversation about women candidates just being themselves instead of trying to act like men. However, Claire Mccaskill needs to get over herself. Hillary Clinton is a private citizen now and can say what she wants. If Mccaskill doesn't agree, then say that but don't tell another woman she needs to "watch what she says". I don't see Trump and the other Republicans being all that concerned about hurting liberals feelings!
  8. I really enjoyed the last segment they did today about the Aziz Ansari incident in particular and the MeToo movement and sexual harassment in general. Three intelligent women with their own views and experiences all talking to each other in a respectful manner. Of course Joe had to give his two cents at the end but overall it was a good discussion that pointed out all the grey areas in this topic.
  9. John Delaney is my Congressman. He is not the most charismatic guy in the world but he has been a solid congressman. He beat a longtime Republican when Maryland did a little Democratic gerrymandering. He has a purple district that consists of western Maryland and parts of Frederick and Montgomery counties. He is big on infrastructure investment which is a topic I wish he could have talked about instead of being grilled on abortion. He should have just said that the Catholic Church doesn't make the laws in this country on abortion, the death penalty, health care or anything else.
  10. I really wish Joe would stop throwing out this talking point. First, Trump himself said during the primary debates that he gave money to both Democrats and Republicans. That way whoever won would be indebted to him. It's called hedging your bets. Trump's only party loyalty was to whichever one would make him more money. Second, it wasn't the democrats who nominated him and got him elected president. Nice try shifting the blame, Joe, but he's your responsibility now! And third, Trump isn't in trouble because he is proposing Democratic ideas, it's because he is breaking the law and is a crazy megalomaniac!
  11. My husband has been begging me to stop watching this show in the morning and today might have actually convinced me to do so. It wasn't all the Trump ass-kissing on the Syria bombing even though I have major issues with that. It was the interview with John McCain. After the Syria talk, they finally asked him about the Senate using the nuclear option on Gorsuch. He got all pompous about how ending the fillibuster ruins the Senate and how Benjamin Franklin is rolling in his grave. MIka and Joe then thanked him profusely for being on the show and ended the interview. How in the world did neither of them think to ask McCain why he voted for the nuclear option if he thinks it is such a terrible idea?!! God forbid we actually put McCain on the spot for once about his habit of spouting his morally superior "maverick" soundbites while at the same time voting in lock-step with the rest of the Republicans.
  12. The gushing over the Supreme Court nominee "rollout", especially by Mika, was disgusting. All Trump did was walk up to the podium, give a short speech and announce a name. Is this how low the bar is set now? Joe's hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me either. "Gorsuch deserves a fair hearing". "Gorsuch is extremely qualified and thoughtful". Yeah Joe, so was Merrick Garland!
  13. I would add to this list the request from the governor of Mississippi for a disaster declaration and FEMA assistance after the deadly tornadoes over the weekend. As of yesterday, there had been no response from Trump. I'm sure if Obama had ignored something like this, Joe would have given him a pass as well.
  14. Joe wasted so much time whining about the New York Times stories on Trump's threat to our democracy. "Why don't they cover the EPA pick that doesn't believe in climate change?" "Why don't they cover the Labor Secretary nominee who doesn't believe in the minimum wage?" I don't know Joe, why don't you? They have 3 hours every morning to cover what they think are the most important issues and they spend half of it bashing other news organizations and saying "I told you so". If Joe wants to see real journalists covering important stories, maybe he should watch his own network between 8-11 pm. Rachel has been amazing covering the Tillerson nomination. Chris Hayes did a fascinating town hall with Bernie Sanders from Kenosha, Wisconsin. It's like 2 completely different networks at this point. Joe also needs to stop with the revisionist history that "the pollsters got it completely wrong". First of all, the national polls predicted a 2-4% win for Hillary in the popular vote and she is currently up by 2 points. Second, Nate Silver never said Trump only had a 1 percent chance of winning. Nate's last projection was that Trump had a 28% chance of winning and he outlined 4 paths to a Trump victory. Last, Trump won because of 100.000 votes in 3 states. That's hardly a "complete failure" of the polling system. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see less focus on polls and more on issues but let's keep our facts straight, Joe.
  15. I think the point Anand was trying to make is that both sides traffic in stereotypical thinking. Just as not everyone who lives in the Midwest is a country bumpkin or ignorant redneck, not everyone who lives on the coasts is a rich elite condescending academic. There are plenty of people in cities like New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore who work as truck drivers, hotel maids, dishwashers, etc. who have the same economic concerns as people in "flyover country". I think Anand was trying to point out that many white working class people have no curiosity or empathy for the struggles of black and latino people in big cities. If they did, they might realize that they have more in common with them than they thought. Like Michael Moore said, everyone wants good schools and clean air and safe communities. I grew up in a working class town in Wisconsin. I still have family members there who are examples of the point Eddie Glau was making. They think all of their problems are because liberals take all of the things they have worked hard for and give them to undeserving black and brown people. Their resentment is palpable and Trump played that resentment to the hilt in order to win this election.
