Where did the "Hold on I'll grab my list of things that bug me about you" saying come from?  Was that on an episode? I get the teflon queen and the respect memo ones.

I'm not so sure. I get those two too (but she made the shirts too wordy).

I don't know about these t-shirts.  Is the non-snarking SW community that big?  Maybe I'm wrong, but I have been watching this show since Day One and I would personally not walk around in a shirt that says "Teflon Queen," and then have to explain its meaning...although what do I know, "Teflon Queen" is currently sold out, but who knows how many were made - 25?

Also, selling shirts with sayings that came from or are about Kody - her awful, neglectful ex and the terrible absentee father of her kids - seems like a weird way to make a buck.  If she's going to finally break with that guy and go on her own, then do that.  It just seems like dirty money to me.

As for the flower garden idea - I'll believe it when I see it.  I have a small garden in comparison to what Janelle is planning and it requires work nearly every day, especially in the heat of summer.  I also think it's sort of suspect to start selling t-shirts for a business that doesn't yet exist for customers.

That's a lot of venting, but come on, Janelle.  You're still young.  If your finances are a disaster because your husband took advantage of you for your entire marriage, go find a great job with benefits and actually make a living without these constant get-rich-quick schemes that don't ever pan out.

I agree with your prescription, but don't actually buy the idea that Janelle's finances are a disaster.

I think Janelle expects Kody and Robyn to financially screw her and Meri (and she should; Meri is being naïve), and so she is talking like that for a reason.

That said, I do think she doesn't have control of the amount of money she should, and she's fighting for it. I think she's also kicking herself in the seat for trusting that she didn't need everything in writing, but I don't think she's tapped out.

While I accept that she isn't where she should be, with regard to preparing for retirement (and the end of the show), I think the crying poor is mostly for show.

It's very niche quotes, just like Robyn's joory was very niche and specific to them or other polygamists (and verrrry overpriced). The quotes are a bit too wordy as well and I don't even remember when two of them happened.

I could see getting one that only said "Teflon Queen" for the lol factor, and a sort of inside joke to any SW fans I might encounter in the wild, but for $25, only 2 color choices, and too many words, they're not for me.

I just looked at their Taeda Farms store and they don't have a lot there yet either. I would think having a branded seed packet selection on offer before Spring would be a neat idea.

Could possibly add some different containers for growing said flowers too -hey, I found another use for those mini galvanized Thanksgiving buckets!- Also, patterned or branded gardening gloves and aprons could be useful as well. Tap into the people who want to support them but aren't into Tshirts. I would have had a decent variety of items listed before launching the store, especially if it's print on demand, but maybe that's just me.

They've never been very good at marketing though. It's funny (to me) how they just leave sites littered around the internet, and not really connected to their other platforms, when their businesses don't produce the windfalls they expected. (Does anyone know if she still does her Strive with Janelle business or did she finally let that quietly die off?)

So much this!!  I’m embarrassed to admit how much time I spent on their website trying to find information on their flower farm.  Only to find none - because it’s nothing but a concept!  But they’re selling t-shirts!  I don’t get who’s buying them.  What for?  There’s no farm!

I have a feeling that Maddie and Caleb wanted some land and pitched this flower farm idea to Janelle who is at a very vulnerable time in her life after losing Garrison. Janelle went in with them and put up a lot of the money to purchase the land. Like other posters have pointed out this is timber land. It will have to be cleared. They probably have to get permits to clear the land before they can do anything. I wonder if they even had the soil tested to see if it is appropriate for growing flowers? It makes no sense to me that someone who went in on buying raw land years ago and saw how that turned out would jump in on doing this again.

Meri and Janelle both have thriving MLM businesses in Plexus and Lularo. Meri also has the b&b. They must have a pretty decent income combined with tlc money.

As for Janelle’s “business instincts”:  I’ve given up on that a long time ago. She seems incapable of learning anything from her previous mistakes, of which there are many. She’ll probably embark on unwise business ventures and pour money down the drain until the day she dies.

From the Lizzie's website:

"Though the inn may no longer be open for reservations, its legacy will always remain in the hearts of those who’ve experienced its warmth and charm. Thank you for being part of Lizzie’s story."

And it's marked as Temporarily Closed.  I think she has it as a home, but no longer as a business.

I believe she told one of her live groups that the plan is to renovate and do an event/venue type business instead (rather than a less lucrative standard b and b)

It’s listed as a wedding venue on the Inn’s Facebook page.

If you'd like to read about the status of the farm, here is a recent blog post about it:

https://taedafarms.com/blogs/news/patience-parenting-and-permits-lessons-from-building-a-farm

Looks like an area that has been used to grow timber in the past for at least two decades. I see two large areas with two different ages of trees. Pinus Taeda = Loblolly Pine. They might do better if they continued as a Loblolly Pine farm to make money to slowly develop areas for flowers and whatever they want to grow.

Did they not notice the drainage ditches in the area, visible on Google Maps? No wonder there are water regulations to be followed. It reminds me of Coyote Pass with the spring run-off "pond" that you cannot build next to and the natural gas pipeline (in one scene a few years back, possibly during the search for Kootie's favourite pillow in one of the UHauls, I could actually read the gas line warning signs and no parking sign right where Kootie parked.

I imagine that this really is new to Maddie and Janelle who are used to Kody doing whatever he wants and not considering any regulations.  I admit that I will be surprised if this far ever produces anything but T-shirts.  It sounds like they have a long road ahead of them to get to growing flowers.  I agree that they should stick with the timber to make some money and slowly transition parts of the land.

I guess that it depends on the type of flowers but wouldn't they have had to have planted seeds by now if they want spring flowers?

Turning pine forest soil into soil for flower beds takes work as pine trees need and fallen needles create very acidic soil (pH of 4.5-6.0). They may have have to truck in loads of topsoil or modify what is there with lime etc. to boost the pH to 6.0-7.5

They would need to go with a county Forrest Ranger to determine if the timber is ready to cut for either pulpwood or logs. The more mature trees will yield a higher return. However they may be required to replant trees to make up for those that they cut. I wonder what their plan is and if they consulted any authorities before purchasing this property. I can see Coyote Pass part 2 in their future.

The whole idea is totally whackadoodle without meticulous planning.  Management/sale/harvesting of trees, soil amendments, deciding on what gets planted where depending on sun vs shade, annuals or perennials, shrubs and trees or just flowers, an analysis of interest in that sort of item, it's just endless.  And we have seen absolutely no indication that any of this had been done.  More like "Hey, let's grow flowers.  Good idea. We'll buy the land and do a groundbreaking and then sell t-shirts.  Perfect!"

This will come to nothing just like the fitness center, the joorey business and everything else these morons pop out of their tiny little brains. They apparently still think their star status will provide an income in perpetuity.

Buying a field full of (pine) trees to start a flower farm is mind-bogglingly stupid! It’s going to take foreverto clear the land and also, to get it ready for planting as @Denizepointed out. That is, if the soil recovers within a few years.  (We had, and still have this issue in our backyard. )

And starting a farming business without taking all the permits and surveys into consideration?? Please… For all you know, you bought a massive logging area where you’re not even allowed to farm in the end!

I read Maddie's Taeda Farms blog, and I have to say - there is nothing more "Brown" than the caption with the picture of Janelle, who - although not one single seed has been planted yet - "has been picking flowers in her mind."

If only invisible flowers could create a lovely imaginary bouquet.

That sounds PERFECT for Janelle!!
