And if her boss Nina and, I believe, co-worker Dillon were working the red carpet, why exactly wasn't Maxie?

From what I can tell it seems like Maxie has been completely dropped from Crimson. She hasn't been there in forever & got no reaction too Julian trying to sabotage her livelihood. It seems too be all about Nina which is a big fail. Crimson is Maxie & Maxie is Crimson. It's something that she worked her ass off for in a particular horrible period in her lifetime. Losing Georgie her being killed & then finding Coop murdered & hanging from a ceiling. It was sorta a lifeline for in a dark chapter of her life.

As far as today show goes other then Nina needing too stfu, Carly needing too jump off a cliff, Liz a rape victim on the arms of a rapist, Nik/Hayden, the corny ass nurses number I enjoyed it.

As a Maxie/Robin FF I was beyond happy that they got a reunion & Maxie not wanting too let her go back to Patrick. Her & Emma having scenes & her & Anna getting to hug. Also her & Sam's brief scene. Maxie is so isolated she barely gets scene's with her family so I particular enjoyed it.

Robin & Emma surprising Anna & looking fly as hell was my favorite part. 3 Generations in one place you rarely get that anymore. Especially one that is as good as these 3 are together.

I actually liked Maxie doing something nice for Liz. I just wished she had told her she can do better then a sociopath rapist right in Franco's face cause it's something she would do.

Lucas & Bobbie were love too bad we are only getting these scenes because there either bout too kill him or put him in a coma. Why do they hate the Jones.

Emma & Griffin relationship is sorta creepy & weird. Also overkill with the propping when he doesn't need it. He genuinely loves her & her him. I love Emma but she is a child who needs to stay in a child's lane. All these ? About why he is a priest, or why he doesn't want a wife or girlfriend its none of her bizz.

I don't believe There going anywhere with Graxie at least not anytime soon as far as her walking down the carpet by herself. I just think they used up there quota of a women being able to do something without a man for 1 eppy. Anna got the honor today.

I forgot to mention I'm going to need Jordan too stop acting like a jealous tool every time she sees Anna & Andre together. It's so childish

The whole thing with Bobbie "rapping" about knowing Tania Jones. Oh yeah? Ya think? You delivered her child who was named after you then became that child's stepmom when you married Tania's widower. Christ on a cracker, show.

And were they trying to do a Hamilton-esque number there? It was so terrible.

I honestly didn't even realize that the opening number was supposed to be rap.  I guess it's cause I just binge watched Season 2 of Empire on the weekend.  I honestly thought it was just their regular opening song and it was just bad.

Between Robin on GH and Jack on Days I am in a very happy place!

I loved that Jason told Robin most of memories have been about her - that's how it should be IMO. KMc still is a chemistry magnet - BM lights up when he sees her.

Not much else to say but I am hoping that Robin gets to give a speech - especially since it was 20 years ago that she gave her speech that brought us all to tears. Bonus points if they find a reason for Jason to carry her off the stage again.

Every year the NB makes me so uncomfortable I watch half of it through my fingers, and yet, I would be genuinely upset if they stopped performing it again. I have no idea.

The rap was awful, but Bobbie made me smile. She was really trying!

I did love Lucy chanting to herself "I WILL keep my clothes on I WILL keep my clothes on."

Nurses' Ball frissons and flops:

  • The ladies' dresses were really stunning. Nina in soft yellow was an unexpected beauty; Maxie's figure and dress were the best. Anna was perfection in her tiny dress, so why did she keep hiding a non-existent tummy bump with a clutch purse? Anna, you have no figure anomalies to worry about.
  • Dr O was very sexy in red, but who arranged her kidnapping? Was it just the usual NB camp?
  • The nurses' opening dance must have taken some intensive choreography. But it went on too long. We get it! "Nurses' Ball". By the Nurses.
  • Nina's comments were mean, rude, and campy. She's worse than Felix in his early days of cattiness.
  • Liz and SERIAL KILLER together at the ball? I agree with Jason that Freako has no place in her life and no excuse for access to their son Jake. Freako does not fit with anyone in any relationship in PC.
  • Maxi-rella, who was wearing an engagement ring,  dumped her fiance to ask the new priest to escort her? Nathan must see the handwriting on the wall--did Maxie even tell him? Maxie is too immature to be engaged.
  • Bobbie looked prettier and healthier than she had in many years, so it was strange to see her collapse. However, that type of surprise can happen, especially after such intense sudden cardio exercise. She needs a thorough checkup.  If she isn't well, the boys might decide to postpone the wedding.
  • Epiphany was gorgeous in her formal gold outfit, and she danced well.  I loved that central yet subtle role they gave her.
  • Robin was lovely and graceful. Her full tulle skirt was so feminine.
  • Didn't like Sam's black and white stripes. I swear that the stripes design met up like a target on her bum.
  • This year, it seems that more people filled the ballroom.

When was the last time Nikolas wasn't an unrepentant douche? Him speeding past Robin in a tizzy is just his normal routine now. You have to pay taxes? Nikolas is so shocked. The horrors.....which brings me to his bestie Lizzie. Wearing the same dress as Hayden was her "humiliation?"  Oh my. How did she ever survive?

Anyway, nice to see Robin and Emma with Anna.  Maxie seeing them was cute! I could get on board with her/Griffin. It's a slight upgrade from Nathan. Slim I know.

So based on what I'm reading, is GH trying to be all Meggie/Father Ralph with Emma/Griffin with Griff's dialogue? Because, no. Gross. (What worked in the '80s is different now, show!)

I may be the minority here, but I don't think they're trying to go there.

Emma had been pestering him about if he was a priest, didn't he want to get married, didn't he want to fall in love yada yada yada.

(Questions, BTW, that numerous adults in my life would have had absolutely no problem shutting down while very publicly shutting me up by telling me it was none of my business when I was her age -- looking side-eyed at you, writers…)

And Griffin made a comment to Robin that he was falling in love with her daughter. I took it as a rather awkward transition out of a rather awkward situation.

And, FWIW, I didn't see the reaction on Robin's face to his remark  that others said they did, but I don't particularly want to argue about it; instead, let's chalk it up to the skill of the actors being able to let us read whatever we wanted to into their performance.

I don't actually think they were trying to imply anything; I think it was just a bad piece of dialogue. And I didn't mean that Robin thought Griffin was being a perv, I think her facial expression said "awkward"; whether it was specifically supposed to be about the line or the whole situation, I dunno.

Ava was va voom in her low-cut red number, and she has a terrific rack. I don't think she would hide such a precious item in the martini shaker; more likely the Jeromes have a safe, and surely Scotty would have suggested keeping it there if he knows about it.

Carly was gorgeous in silver, but why was she worried about being caught in Ava's rooms? Couldn't she say she owns the Metrocourt and was checking out some report of damage or malfunctioning equipment?

Kiki was fabulous with those long earrings, which complemented the lines of her hair and dress.

Emma is a cute but nosy little thing, yet I feel like she's the only way we'll learn what motivates Griffin. No one else seems deeply nosy enough to pry. LOL. Practicality-wise, she shouldn't be asking such adult questions but why has Griffin avoided the dating ritual? I am confused though. He's a priest but not a practicing priest, I believe were his words. Is he allowed to go out on dates if he's not practicing? I don't know!

He said that he was on a leave of absence. He can date as long as he remains celibate, so no fooling around allowed.

Ava lives in her own penthouse apartment, not at the MetroCourt. She was using keys that Morgan had. (Why she now has them is a very convenient coincidence.)

Bobbie's collapse has me perplexed if

Spoiler

the spoilers about Lucas being hurt/dying are true.  The only reason I can think of to give both a medical crisis at the same time is if Bobbie needed an organ transplant.

So the answer is no in my book! LOL. I'm a horndog through and through and my idea of a date eventually involves non-celibate behavior somewhere along the way. Just sayin'

Griffin could have said he found Emma delightful/charming/a lot of fun. Instead they went a little weird.

Hell, he could have just said, "I love your daughter." For some reason, for me, it was the "I'm FALLING IN LOVE" part that bugged me. My mind just goes to a romantic place.

ETA: Kim is tweeting about the episode and posting BTS pics, if anyone is interested.

Instead of the blah blah blah with and about Emma, I wish Robin and Griffin had had an actual conversation about Duke.

Fellaway, the spoilers mention that

a medical emergency is what pulls Lucas away from the Nurses' Ball and why he ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time.  So I assume Lucas takes Bobbie to GH to get checked out.  I'd wonder why Carly doesn't go too, but I know why - she's a self-centered monster.

So I think whatever Carly found implicates Paul.  Maybe Ava recorded him blackmailing her?

I loved Jason's reaction to seeing Friz together, now that he has his memories back.  He SHOULDN'T want his kid anywhere near that psycho.  And my god, Nikolas.  STFU.

Jason and Sam were adorable.  He looked so uncomfortable on the red carpet, it made me laugh.  I couldn't tell if it was Billy or Jason, since it's in character for both.

Loved everything Anna/Robin and Emma...AFTER Anna did her daily Duuuuuukkkkkke mention.

That opening number was embarrassing on so many level.  Becky lucked out with that plot point of a twisted ankle. Even if she was LITERALLY propped up by a serial killer.

Omg.  That Simpsons image.  Yup.   Tequan Richmond needs to thank his agent for getting him out of that because I was so scared for his career.   I was like "Please don't lump him in."   Whew.   You dodged it,  Drew.   So, Carly stole a stolen recording of something she stole in the first place that was the recording of the murder of the father of her first child by the father of her second child which she then covered up?  Yes, Carly, this will end well for you and Sonny.  Fantastic.  High five.  Especially with Hodor getting his damn memories back and going on feels trips and shit.   Please bring up all the feels when you play the recording for Hodor.   He loves being interrupted.   Especially during intimate Chinese food dinners with his not wife while he's not fathering his kids.  Hodor hearts feels.  Crank it up, Carly.   High.  Five.

Marge having a beer tucked away in her purse for Homer is the most romantic gesture I've seen recounted on this board of late.

Certainly better than anything GH has proffered recently.

I know Dr. O doesn't belong at the NB, but I'd have rather seen her Sound of Music performance than the rapping nurses from SecondhandEmbarrassmentville.  Plus, it would give Robin and Anna a chance to murder her on stage.

Y'all what was that look between Felix and that male host? Is that Felix's current or next boo? Jason dictating to Liz rubbed me the wrong way.

I think Donny is a IRL entertainment host, and they have had Felix with him at least since the last Nurse's Ball.

I watched today's show in under 12 minutes.

My running commentary:

Lauren looks beautiful. As does Jordan. Whoever was responsible for fitting Sam into her dress did an amazing job. It fit like a glove in the most flattering way.

Maxie looks like she glued the flowers onto her dress at last second.

Who's the Asian guy, the black guy, and the white guy with Bobbie? I don't think I've ever seen them before.

The script did her no favor, but Michelle Stafford is fucking horrible. Horrible.

Carly's kinda relegated to a matronly type, supporting role, isn't she?

Where's Nathan? Off shooting another Lifetime movie? Odd that he's gone. I take it as a strong sign that he's out.

Ava forgets a checkbook? Who carries around a checkbook anymore?

I seriously had to think for a second why Nina was so affected by seeing Franco. Seriously. Outta sight, thankfully outta mind.

Wow, a ball with about 40 attendees. Show -- take a page out of nearly every talk show production -- don't scan the entire audience in a wide shot so we see how few people there are.

As soon as the Welcome to the Nurses Ball music changed to techno, I knew to mute -- thanks guys!!!!

Between Nina on the red carpet and Dr. O being kidnapped, this episode is  resembling a grade school production more and more.

This was...a trainwreck. And a poorly written one too. As the lone Ava fan on this board, Ava has never had that recording since she got out of jail, and if she ever did, you can be damn sure she wouldn't be keeping it in her martini shaker because it would cease to exist. Let's just gloss over the fact that Carly entered her home without permission. This isn't the damn MetroCourt, bitch. You don't own the entire town and can't just waltz in wherever the hell you feel like it. That laptop looked like it was in Ava's closet. The whole thing was just a violation, but the smugness was on another level. STFU, Snarls.

That opening number? Wow, painful. I don't know who designed that or who came up with it, but....no. You casually throw in years of history and then have people who don't know the history in question sing/rap about it? Ugh, terrible. The singing and dancing? I might have nightmares.

The shallow: Winners - Sam's hair, Kiki's dress, Scott's attitude. Losers (in general): Nik, Franco, Jason. Maxie and Jordan looked good too, but I'm too annoyed at the OMG, you're a priest!!!!1 for it to matter.

Anna/Robin/Emma was clearly the best part of today and it wasn't even close.

And Ava's right, who the hell did let Nina on the red carpet with a microphone? *shudder*

I also am an Ava fan. I don't like the things she has done but she is certainly no worse than the rest of the PC criminals, and far more entertaining and she has sometimes really made me feel bad for her. Yes, she did. Contrary to what anyone else says.

So, I think the tape has something to do with Paul thanks to the previews. I don't know if it's a sex tape or what, but it would have been so much funnier if it were Morgan. I need Carly scarred for life.

Lynn Herring still loves these things so much, I feel bad snarking about it. She live tweeted and was so happy to be watching and have everyone chiming in. But there's just so much to snark on. Not the least of which is that it looked like there were about 10 people there.

The Nurses Ball is always so cringe worthy. Although, back in the day they were better produced & with a higher budget. Maybe, I'm just thinking that because it was so long ago. The Nurses Rap was hysterical. I don't think that's what they looking for. All of the woman looked amazing. Even Michelle Stafford in yellow which no one ever looks good in. I noticed a little tummy on her. Maybe, she's pregnant? It was nice to see Kimberly McC. I hope to see her and Finola Hughes but I think she's only in 2 or 3 episodes.

Not sure if your kidding but if you're not and don't actually know the history....in every nurses ball through some Crazy sequence of events Lucy ends up on stage in her underwear. It's tradition. :)

i do love that they do the nurses ball I do, but to tell the truth it always made me cringe. It just seemed so out of character for so many of the characters and some of the acts were just awful. Sounds like the opening rap continued that tradition.

Oh, man, the 1996 Nurses' Ball is hands-down my favorite.  Jason basically declaring himself when he carried Robin off the stage?  It didn't get much better than that.  And, boy, if KMc ever came back to GH full time (not that I want that horror for her) they could've totally gone with a J/R pairing again, because she has almost as much chemistry with Billy as she did with Steve.

I was kind of zoning out during the red carpet, but why was Sam so snotty?  Just because they called Jason her ex-husband?  Grow a tougher skin, girl.  And, ugh, with Carly finding a flash drive in the martini shaker.  I refuse to believe that's her confession, as Ava is a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them.

Griffin the hinky priest? I think that's probably applicable. The problem with him is that the writers keep "piling on" and "opening doors" to his character and not answering questions. They dropped the ball by not focusing FIRST on Griffin's and Lucas's friendship/association. We might've learned things about Griffin through Lucas since he was introduced to the canvas by Lucas. He lands upon Sonny and starts talking all preachy about forgiveness, then he stumbles upon Anna and tells her he's Duke's son seemingly expecting her to buy it without proof. Then he stumbles upon Nathan proposing to Maxie and it's a baffling reveal of him knowing Nathan but Nathan doesn't recognize him in return. Next, he's spying Nathan and Maxie at their engagement party and having all kinds of bizarre reactions upon what he sees. Then he's having memories of a gunshot. Then he says he's a priest, though not a practicing one. What's next? It all sounds like manufactured drama with no impending answers to anything.

I don't think Griffin is really a priest.

And as a, eh we shall call it fan by default, of Ava there is no way she'd have that recording.  No way in hell.  She did some sick stuff for that recording, so she'd keep track of it.  Besides, DA Paul Hornsby has it.  That's why she was working for him.  That is how Kiki got shot.  Guns, Morgan, Avery, Sonny shot, wheelchair.  Yeah. Jelly, I remember.  God, even Ron fact checked on twitter.  And I dgaf who says what or who stutterbarks at me.  DA Paul Hornsby shot Sonny.  Whatevs.  Connie was stupid.  AJ is still alive.  Just tell yourselves that.  It makes the show easier.
