If there is going to be a Royal Rumble between Goodell and Jones well buy me a suit and call me Roger because I will back Goodell ALL DAY.

I cannot think of any possible way I would ever be on the same side as Jerry Jones.  None.

YOu say that now.   Wait until Goodell decides he needs a PR boost and smacks your team with an unreasonable discipline.    Brady "more likely than not he was generally aware"  and Elliott "let's keep the chief investigator from giving her opinion so we have do MORE than the minimum suspension with no good reason."   The Elliott case was so messed up, I can't say whether he should have even been suspended 4 games or not.   Remember the Giants Kicker got ONE game, ONE GAME, with documented long term history of abuse.

If you root for the Steelers, Giants, Jets, or Ravens you're probably safe. Goodell will underpunish players from those teams, or sweep allegations under the rug altogether.

I understand the Pats' reasoning: Hoyer came up with the Pats and is familiar with their system.

I read that it was originally going to be a trade, Garoppolo for Hoyer, but compensatory draft picks would have kicked in.

New to this thread, hang on Supernatural, but love the NFL!

Will someone smarter than I explain this to me? Did Papa John's statement just trash Kaepernick's law suit? Can the owners now claim it wasn't collusion, but protecting their revenue base?

Glad to see some die hard Giants fans here, suffering with me. It comforts me. Thank you!

Oh, and I have to add, as a pizza lover, what Papa John's sells isn't pizza! Not eve close!

Still collusion.   You cannot take concerted action by the "individual" teams.   Also, there are some rumors that Jerrah Jones coordinated Papa John's attack in his battle with the NFL over Goodell.   Which would actually HELP the collusion claim.

I’m watching Countdown which I don’t do very much any more and one of their contributors is doing a story and it’s driving me nuts that he sounds like someone and then I realize he sounds EXACTLY like Cris Collinsworth.

Then I happen to look at the TV and the chyron says Zac Collinsworth. Aha!  That would explain it.

I only read the headline so there could be more to this but SI apparently did a story that says Vin Scully will no longer watch the NFL because of the protests.  That’s too bad.  I thought I always liked Vin.

I wonder if these rich white guys saying they will no longer be affiliated with the NFL because of the protests realize that this probably only reinforces the very protesters they want to stop?

I wonder if Mr. Scully knows the real reason for the protests or only what the narrative has become?   I find it difficult to believe he would be against protesting the killing of unarmed black men by police.

That was a very good win for the Cowboys. I didn't think they would win against the Chiefs, but I'm glad that they did. They played well today. I hope they continue to do that. I am also glad that the Panthers won today. I didn't think they would win today either, but they did enough against the Falcons. I am interested in seeing what happens in the Falcons/Cowboys game next week.

I am also interested in seeing how far the Eagles and Rams go, as both teams continue to be impressive and won big today.

How bad is Jeff Fisher looking right now?

Pretty rough lol. Jared Goff looks so much better underneath Sean McVay who I think is doing a really good job with the team this year. He might end up being a coach of the year candidate. I had looked at the Rams schedule and they could legitimately win like 6 or 7 of their last 8 games. They could end up with 12 or 13 wins. I think that the toughest matchup they have left on their schedule is the Eagles. I am interested in seeing what happens in that game. But most of their remaining games are very winnable.

Seriously, can this defense be any worse?

I was in the car a little after 1pm, and checked the score on Sirius, when it was tied at 7.  I thought "I know they're going to lose this one, but I just hope they don't embarrass themselves."

So much for that...

Any chance Mara breaks protocol and fires McAdoo after this debacle?

I don't know, since that is out of character for them, but if they do, they need to show the GM the door as well.  He hasn't done much to help this mess either.

The announcers just said that Marshawn Lynch worked out with a high school team while he was on suspension.  What they didn't say was that that got the high school team in trouble with the California sports authorities, because it's against the rules for high school teams to work out with non-team members.  I don't know what the penalty will be.

Al Michaels got all snitty about the protesting during the anthem and said “the NFL doesn’t want this distraction” in a super pissy voice.

Are you blaming the players, Al?  Because I’m pretty sure THEY are not the ones who took a long shot of the Miami sideline, highlighted the kneeling players with a telestrator box, and told the story about the players discussion with Adam Gase about it.

If you don’t want it to be a distraction, DON’T TALK ABOUT IT.  Let them kneel in peace.

That nasty piece of work is trying to be relevant in Tampa Bay after shooting her mouth off in Miami? It's one thing for your husband to be a Raider and maybe have some inside knowledge, but this is probably based on a bunch of Raider fan conspiracy theorists who were saying that they O line let Carr be injured because of the anthem protests. That is disrespectful to those players, as well as Carr who has a great relationship with them. I hope she crawls back under the rock she came out of.

Ohhh noooo you are so right.  That camera angle is TERRIBLE.  It’s too hard to focus on where the ball is.  Did they say if they are going to do that the entire game?  Cuz I will seriously consist not watching if they are.

They said they're giving us a taste of what they're gonna do next Thursday. I really hate it. You can't see the whole field. If I wanted a shitty view of a game, I'd go to a game.

If they did away with Thursday night football, ratings would go up on Sundays and these players wouldn't be so tired from having a short week. Why did they ever think it was a good idea?

Speaking of injuries, another star player out- this time it's Richard Sherman and an Achilles' tendon rupture.

He didn’t miss a game in seven seasons.  The Seahawks are going to miss him.

I am curious why I haven’t heard anyone but Dan LeBatard bring up the incredible coincidence that Jerry Jones suddenly has a problem with Roger Goodell at the same time Jones’s player is in legal trouble with the league.  I mean, it seems obvious, right?

If the ratings keep falling expect more experiments in the future...

That is totally going to help.    When you have to start doing major experiments, you have a dying audience.  Just let us WATCH the damn games.   If you must fix something have less commentary WHILE the game is happening.   Yes, I'm looking at you Jon Gruden.

And Al Michaels, and Cris Collingsworth. If they want to get more people watching, perhaps they should have the announcers actually calling the games. The NFL plays fast and my first few seasons I didn't know what the Hell was happening. It's just this season that I understand in the neighborhood of half the terminology. So instead of the announcers sitting there and chattering with nothing to really say, they could say what's going on and actually analyze it.

Never try to listen to an Oakland A's baseball broadcast.  What's going on on the field is fourth on the priority of the announcers who like to talk about:

1-The history of the game and all of the people they know

2-Their personal lives and all of the things they and their kids do

3-Interviews with people who come to visit them in the booth, even if only tangential to baseball.
