ETA: Wait-Rosie Perez asked Whoopi to not imitate her accent on the air and she did it anyway? WTF? I still cannot get over how over the top Rosie's tearful pre goodbye was. It is just ridiculous to let people go and then expect them to work alongside their replacements. I cannot imagine how hard that might be. This show is so unprofessional in every single thing that they do. That musical act was so bad today-so very bad. I am not the kind of person who enjoys so much second hand embarrassment.

Hey Stacee! Katielouisiana here. I mostly don't watch the show anymore. I catch bits and pieces now and again. I cannot imagine mocking someone's accent after they told me it bothered them, but Whoopi is a piece of shit. Yes, I remember that awful Valley Girl shtick that she did for so long. It was the worst-I thought. I also thought her "rape-rape" comments was as low as she could go, but she has continuously exceeded my expectations in the crappy person department.

Watching it again right now because I missed some of it earlier and I am galled by the hypocrite that is Whoopi during the Caitlyn Jenner discussion.  All of her PC comments about 'who are we to judge' and how 'we have to be more accepting' and that she 'hopes that all of the people who were bashing Caitlyn are listening to what she is saying now.'  That last one was my favourite.  Are you f-cking serious, Whoopi?  Kinda like how you are now suddenly listening to the 40+ women who were raped by Cosby? After many months of bashing them? Hypocrite.

The "reasons" for why they let Wallace go, make no sense, since we were told that this show is now under the News Division. Under the News Division, one would think that they would keep her. Then again, instead of getting more newsy stuff, this show just kept going down the sewer with the trashy stuff, that's more "entertainment" and trash tv. I mean, did Wolff have NO SAY? Was he brought on just as a "name" and figurehead?

So this is what the View has come to?  They fire a woman because she is not well versed in reality television but bring back a woman who didn't know something that preschool age children know (the world is NOT flat).

 

And you know the more and more I think about ABC keeping Whoopi even though she wants to go just infuriates me.  This shows the utter disregard and lack of respect they have for their audience.  They would rather save a few bucks (to them anyways) and keep a woman who is absolutely  horrible at her job. A woman who constantly gives the finger to viewers (figuratively but maybe one day soon literally).  A woman who has made no secret of the fact she does not want to be there but yet they insist upon keeping her.  ABC cut your losses.  Whatever you think you are getting from Whoopi whether it be ratings or guests coming on because of her you are losing what loyal viewers you have left.  Who wants to watch a show where a co-host flat out tells you she don't give shit what you think?

Nicole may have an impressive resume, but she is the wrong fit for a talk show that is not political. She constantly interrupts, acted disingenuous about many matters, and her shrillness and boring "I'm a Republican and the mother of a three year old." routine gets very old. I wish her well on other political shows though.

I watched today to see what Nicolle would say about the news. I guess she gave the best exit she could have, although it left me wondering if maybe she wasn't fired for a moment there. Maybe it's because I haven't seen the show in so long or because two dead-co-hosts-talking sedated the table, but I wasn't driven to turn the channel immediately? Hmm. I liked the guest co-host, and I guess Raven's not awful when it comes to insubstantial, fluff topics that don't mean anything. I knew nothing would happen between Apatow and Whoopi. Anyway, I think I'll watch the rest of Nicolle/Perez's time and at least the first week of whatever new panel they'll "assemble." Basically, casting co-hosts for The View is like setting up the line at a shooting gallery. Another one bites the dust.

Everything that's been released about behind-the-scenes goings-on at The View since Barbara left (from articles and Rosie O) has revealed a cluster**** of meddling from all different sides and no leadership. Wolff probably had to compete with people from the news division and/or the daytime division both having their hands on The View this year because of the show being moved into news (the conflict between the two sides was described in one article I remember reading a while back anyway), as well as Whoopi and ABC executives likely overruling him on occasion. We know Whoopi did everything she could to fight against changes every step of the way--everything from coming in earlier to having more serious topics.

Years ago I remember Barbara giving an interview comparing the View audience to Wal Mart shoppers.  She might have meant the audience was made up of just your average everyday viewer but IMO she meant the viewers were uneducated and didn't know much beyond what they saw presented to them on TV, specifically the View.  How many times did we hear her say viewers get their news from the View?

 

Even though I abhor anything related to the Kardashians and would never ever watch their show I do in fact know who they are (how could I not, they are everywhere) so Nicolle acting like she is just so above it all and doesn't know anything that is related to pop culture is disingenuous at best and condescending at worst.

I'm sure the headline about Nicolle being "Kardashian Illiterate" was a snarky dig at the show, not a factual comment on the rumour Nicolle's contract isn't being renewed.   Her recitation of things she knows about the Kartrashians was to let us know she read the headline.  A 'subtweet' on air rarely works though.

Ha!  I think Whoopi's comment was "kinda" (I'm going to start using that for all things Whoopi) a dig on Nicolle, as in, "That's not why you're out - if it was I'd be long gone [so it must be something else about you] "  The interesting part of that whole thing for me  was Whoopi telling us she not only doesn't know anything about the Kartrashians but doesn't care because, "they don't pay my rent.  They don't do jack for me."   So Whoopi only cares about things/people who pay her rent?   How about US?  Don't we keep her working by watching/talking about this crapfest?   But we know that Whoopi doesn't care about the viewers or what we think.  Maybe she should think again.

Oh Cementhead, I'm not the original poster but I certainly didn't read your comment that way or backformore's either.   In fact, I agreed with it because like you I have a s-i-l who mangled up my niece's name (imo) by changing the spelling of a common boy's name.   DON'T LEAVE!  I really enjoy your comments.

 

By the way, despite being on this thread daily, I never spell Nicolle's name the same way twice in a row, lol.  Mostly because I can't be bothered to remember the way she spells it.

Wow -  I REALLY feel misunderstood.   

That was not my intention at all.  I can never remember how to spell NW's name, and I know I've messed it numerous times.  So today, I'm on my goofy work computer that I inherited, and my keyboard is ancient and "sticky".  When my L key stuck, I left it that way, to be funny. Because her name is mis-spelled so often, here and everywhere else.  

I also was spelling Whoopi differently for a while because my spellcheck kept goofing it up.  

 

I'm very sorry my intent was viewed as a slam - I was just goofing around.  

 

For the record, if I know someone, at work or personally, I make a point of knowing how to pronounce and spell their names.   for people on TV, i don't keep it straight.  if you spell your name in a unique way - I'm going to get it wrong!

I've only seen Nicolle a handful of times, I really haven't watched since RO left, that is unless I read something here that was worthwhile.  I've seen Nicolle say she's a Republican and a mother of a 3 year old ad nauseum, I've seen Nicolle talk over guests repeatedly, I've seen her ask RP such questions as "What is hip-hop?", I've seen her kiss WG's considerable ass.

I have a slight quibble with their version. When Nicolle said "they crossed a line" I thought she was referring to the producers as "they" - not the fans. 

 

My perception was that she was addressing the gossip writer's interpretation of whatever fucked up shit the ABC execs fed them, er leaked.

Umm, I was being "jokey" when I said Thursday would be cause for day drinking :)  Just saying (ahem)….  How on earth would that be about you?  I too share the disdain for creative, odd spelling of names, although her version is not crazy, comparatively speaking.

Cementhead-sometimes I do things like that so I understand your feelings. I have a few paranoid days every month. I have( had) a friend who named her daughter the same name as mine but spelled it with a C instead of a K and an ee at the end instead of ie. The child has grown up to be a confederate flag waving racist who constantly whines on Facebook about not being able to find anything personalized because of the way her name is spelled.(I am not saying that the spelling of her name caused this, but anything is possible) She is such a special flower that I finally had to block her ass after the Charleston massacre because I could not take her idiocy anymore.

Yeah-I am not weeping for Nic-hole (I don't give a shit how she spells it)-the Skipper doll with the string you pull causing her to declare repeatedly "I'm a Republican!"- because while I liked her hair, her performance on this show made me think that she wasn't that bright.

She should hire Sarah Paulson to play her in real life. She did a much better job of being Nic-hole.

I was watching some Wendy Clips and she was like how Whoopi wants out of her contract and this is why she acts the way she does.. if that's the case, why not just quit? or work out something so she can be a casual co-host, (so she can get paid) rather than drag down the show?
