I have no knowledge of the source of the Wegovy song. To me, it's just an annoying song.

I knew the song before and still find it extremely annoying.  (I really don't like the song although it's not the message which I dislike.)  But I get what the original poster was saying, that it's weird at best to use a song about accepting yourself as you are in a commercial for a product which is very much based on not doing so.

Please explain the Kerrygold commercial with the table

I thought the table ran away from home because it was having a self-existential crisis but returned after seeing another family with a kitchen table.

The anti abortion ad or something else?

Yeah, the anti-abortion commercial. Effective, if not gruesome.

I have never understood that commercial, that fact that nobody is freaked out about a table that can wander the earth is amazing to me. LOL.

Well, a dish can run away with a spoon, so why not a table? At least a table has legs!

According to Kerrygold:

Quote

Our new film ‘The Runaway’ follows the poignant journey from the city to the country of the beloved family dinner table, as it searches for a new sense of place.
For a brief moment, life slows down and we see how much valuable time spent together means to families, once the table finally returns home.

Well,... that clears it up...

There's a new Verizon commercial featuring contrived phone destruction or damaging,  but the one with the phone sinking into a boiling brown substance makes me wonder why the person on the phone seems to know what is happening. That's not how it works!

I think it's a live video call and the camera is getting covered with the melting chocolate (or whatever it is).

Is the Yeti offering discount appearance rates? I've seen 3 - Michael's, Oreos, and Mountain Dew. 😅

I thought I was the only one seeing that.

Side note, I went to an auction the other night and one of the items was the original Mondy the Sea Monster costume, I thought @chessiegal might want to wax nostalgic about Capt. Chesapeake.

I still don't understand why the Yeti would be called if there was a cookie emergency, wouldn't Santa just leave coal for everyone and move on to the next house in search of cookies, I mean Santa has a lot of houses to get to,(allegedly), does he really have the time to sit and enjoy a whole cookie and milk buffet?

Yes, he does - because he's a time traveler. He starts at dark of night at the International Date Line, working his way westward. When dawn approaches, he goes back in time those 12 or so hours to resume until dawn, when he then goes back in time again and again and again until he's done. He's got more than all the time in the world.

Perhaps someone can help me understand the Hobby Lobby pie-baking ad. I get it. The little girl is imitating her father. Sure, she’s cute. But what does that have to do with HL? I’ll admit I’ve never darkened the door of a Hobby Lobby (partly on principle and partly due to a massive difference in taste), but I was under the impression they sold craft items and kitschy home decor. Do they also sell children’s kitchen sets or baking supplies?

I know Michaels sells baking supplies especially cake and cookie decorating supplies. I assume Hobby Lobby is the same, but I avoid them for similar reasons (CEO funding ISIS by buying black market antiquities and no barcodes because they are the "sign of the beast")

Wait, what?  I wouldn't shop there ever because...reasons, but... what??

In the Toyota commercial where the father and daughter find and return a missing dog, does the little girl come running out of the house into the snow with bare feet?  I know she's excited about being reunited with her dog, so that could happen, but I feel bad for the actress, especially if they took awhile to film.  They could have had at least had her wear slippers!

I don't understand how the kid in the car makes the driver stop before they even get deep enough into the intersection to even SEE the dog in the alley, much less recognize it as the lost dog.

I hadn't even noticed the dog's name somehow, even though that commercial has been on about 10,000 times in the last week.

In the commercial for Wegovy, the lady starts by saying something like, "Have trouble keeping the weight off?  Same!"  But it sounded to me like she was saying, "Sing!" so the first couple times I saw it, I thought it was going to be one of those ads where everyone bursts into song and that they were trying to make it interactive for some reason by encouraging the viewers to also sing.

I find it odd in that ad that everyone just sees a group of people walking and joins in without bothering to ask what is going on, but it makes me laugh because it reminds me of a story my uncle once shared about my grandparents visiting him in Europe.  He and Grandpa were doing something for a minute, and apparently Grandma saw some people walking somewhere and ended up joining them somehow.  My uncle came back and was like, "Mom, why are you marching in the Communist parade?"

What I don't understand is why the dog is called Eagle. Eagle? Eagle?? What a bizarre name for a DOG. If it were a beagle, I could understand, but it's not a beagle.

I thought the dog's name was Mabel. Or are we talking about another commercial? I'm thinking of the young girl who finds the lost dog.

Found an article about the barcodes. HL denies that it's about the sign of the beast, but gives a pretty pathetic excuse for why they do it. Something about the "human touch."

Not sure if @ebk57was 'wait what' about barcodes or antiquities, so here's a bit about the antiquities issue:

Well, this is a funny thing. I posted that rant and immediately afterwards the commercial played and *this time* I could hear the dog's name as "Abel" and could see it on the poster too. So I came here to edit my post, knowing I was wrong but I COULD NOT EDIT MY POST OR EVEN POST AN UPDATE. The edit option would not open. So, my beloved snarkers, I was WRONG. I apologize. (But I think Abel is also a dumb name for a dog. So there)

I found the commercial on-line. It's for Toyota's Tacoma truck. We're both wrong, the name of the dog is Fable, not Mabel as I thought. Here's a summary of the ad:

Quote

n the ad you see a couple in their Toyota Tacoma going to pick out there holiday tree and they spot a dog wandering the streets. When the couple stops for breakfast on the way home they see a lost dog sign in a cafe window. They decide to track down the dog and they lure him into the truck with baked goods. They return the dog home and a little girls runs out of the house calling his name, and when the girl's parents offer a reward the couple who finds the cute dog replies "No, this is reward enough." The tag line is "Let's spread joy this holiday."

The Best Friends Animal Society explains on their Facebook page, "This holiday season, Toyota is supporting Best Friends Animal Society as part of their annual Toyotathon holiday campaign. With Toyota's generous support, we’re continuing our mission to #SaveThemAll and working toward a future where every pet finds their way home, where they belong. Thank you, Toyota, for being such an amazing partner in this life-saving work. Together, we can make a lasting impact!"

Fans absolutely adore this sweet ad and one person commented, "I saw this the other night for the 1st time and got all choked up." Me too! Another person added, "This is such a heartfelt commercial and what you're doing to support Best Friends Animal Society is incredible and so appreciated." Someone else responded, "This is my new favorite holiday commercial."

I was actually shocked at the barcodes thing.  I do vaguely remember the antiquities thing, so thanks for the articles as a reminder.

Correct. Everytime it came on, I thinking to myself, "Just yank the damn phone out already!" They just let it sink in the chocolate for what feels like 10 seconds.
