I wonder if it actually is a hinderance for shows like Veep and Silicon Valley to have so many nominees in the writing/directing categories.  On one hand, it is certainly good that they have so many great, Emmy worthy people behind the scenes, but I have to think some kind of split voting can play into effect.

I'm sure Julie Louise Dreyfus was amazing as always, but I was really hoping for Ellie Kemper.  At least she actually got nominated this time around.

I would have liked to see Ellie Kemper or Tracee Ellis Ross win, but I like Julia Louis Dreyfus, so I am fine with it.

So we're doing the thing again where some deceased stars get a big segment?  How do they choose?

I do not know how they decide how someone's death trumps someone else's. Unless they were giving some kind of special lifetime achievement award or something akin to that, I think the only fair thing is to keep them all in the In Memoriam segment. I feel like I sound like a bitch now.
