Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Also, Lydia's mother, Kim, could give Jill a run for her money in the domineering, controlling mother sweepstakes; so Lydia and Tim may not realize just how awful the other's mother is.  However, I could see Jill and Kim coming to blows over who gets to hold the grandchild first and pose for photos, who gets the whole family for holidays and such.

I would watch that.  I might even pay to watch that.  Also, I am both terrified and extremely intrigued to really start watching Welcome to Plathville.

Wonder what deep conversations those two are having while waiting for food that will never come.....

I was wondering why they were at a separate table.  Maybe the girls wanted to do that, or maybe the restaurant couldn't seat the entire clown show at one table.  I just don't see Jill allowing her girlies to sit apart from her because then how would everyone else know that all of those kids belong to her, as young and beautiful as she is?

I've watched it from the beginning and - wow.

I'm at the point now of trying to figure how the one who was the biggest mess - Moriah, now seems to be the only one with her head on straight. Her clothes and make-up are still a mess, but she seems to be figuring out life.

And then there's Olivia - a big double talking manipulator. But I think she believes what she says and she thinks she is wise beyond her years.

And the mom - biggest wow. @Rootbeer is right - she could give JillR a run for her money. Joan Crawford is sweet compared to them.

I do feel bad for all the young adults though. They are going to have some major embarrassment looking back on this and knowing it was all on TV for the world to watch.

Upon more reflection...

Since David was there we can assume it was at the end of two weeks, when he went to pick them up. I highly doubt Nurie was still in pain. And we know Jill wasn't.

Maybe we're giving Nurie too much credit. Maybe she did this independently of Jill. Maybe Jill has met (gave birth to) her attention whore match.

Jill was in enough pain to not attend church when Shrek preached in PA last weekend. He noted that Jill would be going to the doctor on Tuesday (so today).

  • Useful 10

Call me crazy, but I’m getting vibes of Jill wailing and gnashing her teeth before the doctor even touches her leg.

I’m also getting flashbacks to that scene in Casino where the old mobsters hobble feebly into court, but strut out later once no one is looking.

Like Harvey Weinstein, all of a sudden he was hunched over and needed a walker! Oh and Bill Cosby was blind!

So I guess if Jill doesn't post about it, then the injury isn't as SEVERE as she says (and wants).

Or she'll say she left before the appointment because the orthopedic doctor was wearing sluttish clothing. Or she didn't go in because they required a mask.

I watched the latest Stewart Family video and Evan cracked me up. They were with Evan’s family on vacation. Carlin was not aware of the portions (did she not look around her?) and ordered a plate with bacon, hash browns and something else. She also ordered a pancake and that thing was huge. So they are laughing and Evan is ribbing Carlin about the amount of food. He forgot he also ordered a pancake to feed Layla. Evan looks at the camera and says “Carlin’s dad would order two pancakes and feed the entire family back in the good old days.” He was right on target and Carlin didn’t seem to mind.

It reminded me of a comment Evan made while talking about the vacation. He stated it was a big deal to go away together “because we all have 9-5 jobs and it’s difficult to work with so many schedules.” I found it interesting that he felt the need to explain such a simple concept. Did he even realize that it could come across as a diss?

Funny too how JillR can post all these happy videos of snuggling with babies, going for coffee, going on a day cruise and out to dinner, but... but, she can't manage to sit in a church for an hour. Weird how life works like that.

maybe they didn't have a wheelchair at the ready for poor jill and her severe, month old., leg injury 🤣

Carlin has a job? And that doesn’t sound like an extraordinary amount of food to me 🤷‍♀️

Carlin spends time at the boutique. It sounds like she spends entire days there at times. If I had to guess, I'd say she's actually working about 20 hours/wk.

The pancake alone was a good ten inches in diameter. All the portions were huge. Evan lamented he couldn’t finish his main plate because he doesn’t like to be wasteful.  I wasn’t criticizing Carlin’s food consumption, I just found Evan’s comment amusing. Gil himself explained how they ordered at Chick fillet and it amounted to each kid getting three nuggets, a roll, and a few fries, water no sodas.

Carlin works at the boutique, but Evan was referring to his family, emphasizing they couldn’t just travel on a whim.

When I saw the two little girls seated by themselves, I wondered why the server didn’t just put the small table together with the large table where the adults were seated.  That’s what I would’ve done.  My first thought was that BME didn’t want to be bothered by the little ones during her meal, but then I realized that Jill is never bothered by the little ones when they go out to eat.  That’s the older girls job.

I went out with family for a meal over the summer and the restaurant placed us at two separate tables.  The server said, that due to COVID, the management didn't allow them to seat more than 6 at a single table or to push tables together for larger groups; it caused too much disruption of traffic and prevented people from being able to maintain distance. So, it's possible the restaurant didn't allow the tables to be moved.

Wouldn't it have been lovely if perhaps Jill had suggested that Nathan Nurie sit at a separate table while she and the girls kept an eye on the baby for the?  Many new mothers don't get much opportunity to eat a meal without interruption. they haven't had a minute to themselves since Jill and the locusts descended.  Half an hour to spend some private time as a couple might have been very welcome.

And if she goes into a gift shop, she needs a gift. I bet she bought nothing for the baby. She probably showed up empty handed. I remember my mom hand crocheting a blanket for my son when he was born. She also sewed a quilted wall hanging for his room.

That is really sweet! What a wonderful gift for you to pass down to your son. My dad was into woodwork and my stepmom sewed. So my dad made a cradle that rocked and stepmom made the quilt, bumper pads, pillow and fitted sheets for it. (I didn't use the pillow or bumper pads.) And I will pass it along when my son becomes a father.

I kind of expected Jill to buy the baby something big, just for the attention.

Hopefully JillR didn’t gift the baby Plexus. I imagine he will be receiving clothes that say MeMe’s Angel or something similar, emphasizing the MeMe. Thanks again to whoever first called JillR “MeMe” and David “Poopy”, makes me laugh every time.

I still have them. She also made quilted baby albums for him. My mom was awesome. I was very lucky to have her and my dad. I remember she made quilted baby albums for her God daughter too.

Meanwhile Jill expects to be waited on. I dont think she loves her kids or grandchild, not really. They are all part of the Jill show.

Okay, ya'll. I think I found the date of JillR's big St. "Austine" adventure: October 18.

She posted yesterday on on IG about their boat trip in St. "Austine," and then late last night she posted about their "night on the town" in St. Augustine. The "night on the town" post was a couple of videos and some stills, at the restaurant and a few street scenes including them visiting something called the "Love Tree." Here are a couple of the still photos. The "Kaylee & Jonathan" heart is dated 10/18/21. Baby Nemo would have been, what, a week old on that day?

That's show biz. In its current incarnation as reality TV and social media video. Prettied-up "reality" with as many takes as needed. And, yes, probably most of their audience just takes it at face value.

I know I can take David.  I also can arrange some backup since my brothers are going on this trip.  And if push comes to shove, I have some cousins in Northeastern Ohio  I can call (as well as a place to dump a body).

Lydia’s “special friend” is 17 years old, so he’s definitely not Timcel. She also communicates with him via text messaging and we know JRod controls the phone so that rules out any other Rodlings. She also had a crush on another boy until she found out that he had a girlfriend. And sadly, the Rodlings are just odd. I feel badly for saying that because it’s not their fault. I just don’t see any girl being interested in them. They are who I picture when the Duggar girls described the weird guys who’d expressed interest in them. Not that the Plaths aren’t super weird themselves, but on a superficial level, they’ve got a lot more going for themselves than the Rods.

Good points. I think the Rod girls are more marriageable than the Rod boys. Under their unfortunate hair and makeup styling (courtesy of BME) the daughters are fairly attractive, and heaven knows they're skilled at household tasks. The Rod sons are just - odd. And since it seems that their parents shove them up to a pulpit to preach when they reach mid-adolescence, their oddness is on display for all to see.

When I see Jill's photos of her skeletal sons I sometimes remember how a few years ago she proudly told the innernetz how her kids fasted for the Lord. I think it was Tim specifically. I don't think she's told that story to the world lately, and I've always wondered if the "fasting for the Lord" postings may have triggered a CPS investigation given how super thin some of the kids looked.

I don't know if Kaylee will land Jonathan, but he sure looks more healthy and attractive than her brothers; he may be a crazy screwed up fundie but he doesn't look like he'd snap like a twig in a high wind.

Even below the surface the Plath kids have more going for them. All four kids who left the home, including Hosanna, work for a living. Lydia now has a job. The Plath parents, though total whack jobs, are college educated and the dad is employed at a real 9 - 5.
