Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

I've been to several bachelorette events that did not include drinking or bawdy activities; because that's what the bride wanted.  It wasn't that they were particularly religious; they just didn't want a lot of drinking and behaving badly as part of the festivities.  One involved going out for a great dinner (she was a foodie) and then going to a local comedy club to catch a comedian she liked.  The other, my sister's, involved takeout Chinese food and a movie marathon.  Most people didn't drink anything.  Those that did had maybe some beer or wine, nobody had more than 2 drinks.

Yeah.   Jill and her ilk are NOT special by not having a drunken party.   Lots of people prefer just having a nice time with friends.   But you know they have to be Holier Than Thou so they can feel better than us heathens (but they will take our money for their "ministry.")

Ironically the most sexual innuendo lace showers I’ve ever been to were the ones I went to with my mom for ladies in the church. Lots of wink wink “wedding night” talk and focus.

The ones I went to as an adult, none were religious and sex wasn’t discussed really at all, because the couples have been living together for a while. No one gave a fuck.

From what I've seen online; fundies certainly talk about sex, including a lot of innuendo, far more than the heathens I know.  Maybe if they spent a little less time dwelling on it, they'd find it easier to remain chaste.

I also do not believe for one minute that not a single one of Jill's daughters didn't joke about Kaylee and Jonathan doing the horizontal bop; along with plenty of 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge' from the Oh-so-wordly married Nurie.

Someone posted this as a comment on the “clean” Bachelorette party post:

I would love to know their plans. As a pastor's wife I know most of our engaged couples omit a "bachelorette/ bachelor party" because of all the worldly pleasures most often associated with such activities. My son was best man at a wedding this spring. In place of the bachelor party, they went to a local indoor shooting range where you can try a lot of different guns. Afterwards, they went to "Five Guys" and ate. He said it was great. This summer a couple we know took their entire wedding party to a local amusement park instead of the usual parties.

.Jill’s response:

🙄 I’m sure that they were just THRILLED that Jill approved!

The suspense is too much. I need an update. There’s way too much happening today…Kaylee’s wedding and Duran Duran being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…it’s a banner day!

OMG I finally saw Duran Duran a couple months ago (after waiting 40 years!) and they were fabulous.

All this talk about not having a "worldly" party. Don't they live in the world?! <--- Rhetorical question. I know this is an example of humble bragging meant to be very critical and judgmental of wordly going straight to hell folks.

You’re 100% correct.  Jill wants everyone to know that she’s a much better person than all of us heathens, who will go straight to hell in a hand basket for having those “filthy” bachelorette parties. 😈

Well, it's 4:20 ET. (toke up! 😜)

Kaylee should be safely married by now.

I wonder if Jill will dribble out some crumbs tonight.

Kaylee had some gorgeous weather today, very unusual for November in Ohio,  High temp around 70 and sunny.  Breezy this afternoon and evening, but, overall  a delightful day.

Jill did not pay for the wedding in its entirety. I guess the Rod parents contributed 10% toward the wedding.

So who paid? Who was the MOH?

Regardless of who paid.... Jill will take credit for it all.  And once Nurthling 2 shows and she gets her photoshoots with him, won't it be time for a vacation?  Donate now to Ma's GFM! We She needs the money!

Judging from what the sisters wore (neutrals), Jill was NOT part of the wedding party.  eta Pat is to DBD's right (as we view it). Jill gave the poor woman a mullet.

They should have just cut Trish's hair short. It would look much better than the mullet. But I guess Jill thinks if part of Trish's hair is kept long, that keep her "womanly glory."

I know it was grape juice, but the picture of it in wine glasses and the actual food rather than snacks makes it seem as though they are trying to be more normal. Of course, I grew up Southern Baptist so a lot of the weddings I've been to over years have snacks rather than a full meal.

Who else helped with this wedding because we know Jill wasn't going to pay for this, especially after her 25th anniversary trip.  Also, Jill wasn't a part of the wedding party? There has to be more to the story.  Maybe Kaylee and Jonathan are trying to break free, as much as they can considering they are only going to be living a few miles away.

I am willing to bet people gave Kaylee things they had from previous weddings. And since Johnathan has a job he probably had some money. She’s NotNurie so Jillpm didn’t care what she was planning and was far to into planning her own various trips and fawning over Nurie and her “baby” to notice or care what the wedding planning was. Which good.

But for breaking free…the newlyweds will be summoned whenever BME needs something from them. But only then.  Even if they are 5 miles away, she’ll still talk more about her Bestie Nurie.  There is an outside chance that Kaylee has asked Jillpm to not post much about her. But this is a woman who took a selfie at a funeral for stranger’s children with the grieving parents, so I’m doubt this is Jill respecting boundaries.

I'm imagining BME calling Kaylee this morning and in her simpering, giggly voice asking her how "it" went last night. She would absolutely do that after not preparing her daughter with any information about s-e-x!

I shudder to think that Kaylee may be pregnant right now.

I think her wedding actually looks nicer than Nurie's did.

I think so too. The cake looked really  nice and it looks like people sat down and had something other than chips to eat. Her dress looked nice but I didn't care for the modesty front part.

The first kiss was awkward but when they kissed after the cake, they seemed at ease about it. First time I even saw a bit of chemistry and TBH life in Kaylee.

Very happy to see that Jill wasn't in the wedding party! I think Hunk and her look nice.

Gosh I hope not.

I wonder where they are going on honeymoon?

Isn't Jonathan from a similar-sized family? Yet Kaylee gets practically her entire family (minus Gabriel and Janessa, plus Nathan) in the wedding party, while Jonathan gets three people?

And what happened to Gabriel? I thought at first that the boy with the hand in front of his face was him, but a different photo shows it's not. Like, I'm glad Jonathan got another contribution in the bridal party, but still sucks for Gabriel... Did they have to leave him out so Janessa wouldn't feel bad?

Renee looks miserable.

Jill is probably 10 kinds of pi**ed off that others leaked photos of her "Kaylee girl's" wedding. And people are all opining all over the internets that it's way better than the mess Jill put together for precious Nurie's wedding. I'm imagining that even DBD was impressed when he realized that he'd get a meal and if he stated that, it probably ticked Jill off even more! She's going to have to do a lot of BS posts where she takes credit for the new improved wedding!

Renee does look very sad. Maybe a sneeze was coming on! I would think they wouldve picked a photo to post where everyone looked their best, but with a group photo that size, it may have been the best they could do.

I bet BME had very little to do with wedding prep. She probably didn’t think Kaylee could put together a wedding that  actually looks nice and has real food. Plus no Duggars! JillR will be posting left and right to try and take credit. I always underestimate her ability to turn stuff to be ALL about her. And good for Kaylee for NOT having BME as matron of honor.

Karma for her leaking Jinger's wedding invitation, first photos of one of the Plath weddings, etc.

Good for Kaylee getting to outshine Nurie for once in her life. I hope Renee gets to do the same (or really I just hope that she gets to escape the Rod circus as soon as possible, and gets a husband who will treat her decently and moves her far away from Jill).

I agree, much nicer wedding than Nurie’s.

Dress is meh, looks like she has a towel shoved down the front.  Modesty!

This has got to be the most unbalanced bridal party I’ve ever seen. Why are there not more participants from Jonathan’s family?  Seeing as how I’m pretty sure his parents paid for a large portion of it, they could’ve at least had a bigger representation.  That being said, I do like the bridesmaid’s dresses (they MATCH!) and the choice of color light pink is an odd one to select for a fall wedding, but the neutral dresses brought it together nicely.

Poor Renee.  She is now oldest female daughter and I’m sure next on the chopping/auction block. And pretty much alone now in facing BME.  And taking care of the littles.  I hope she doesn’t become the Rod’s Jana.

And food!  Real food!  I’m shocked!  The jury is still out on just how much of a big deal was made over the non-wedding events during the ceremony (like BME’s bday, the Royal anniversary, etc.). But I’m sure there was some “honoring” done.

Nurie should not have traveled all that way so close to her delivery date. IMHO they knew her due date when the wedding date was picked. They could not have waited a little longer if they wanted her as part of the bridal party?  When my ex and I planned our wedding my former SIL was asked to be a bridesmaid. She accepted. A few months later, she found out she was expecting and gracefully bowed out of the wedding party. She wound up going into labor a few hours after the reception wound down and had the baby the day after.

Maybe they bartered Jill not being in the wedding party for a large representation of Rod siblings?

Seriously, though, they could have just done all Hill boys and all Rod girls... but no...

But remember--Nurie and her husband can't be bothered to put their "precious blessing" in a car seat.  Traveling far from home just before her due date probably did not even occur to her.  I doubt they have that much common sense.
