I feel like we're watching the introduction of the cult of mother goddess Bey...

Agree.  And I'm in favor of Mother Goddess Bey.  As opposed to other loathsome people who think they're gods, but they're just little tiny handed men.

So basically, Beyonce? Your man cheated on you and then knocked you up and this is supposed to be the Newest Shit Ever? Girl bye. At least no one will say she faked this one because ol girl is clearly pregnant. Her boobs looks like they stank like a shower fart. But if this performance doesn't end soon, she's going to give birth to little Ivan and Ivor on the stage.

I hate you for making me laugh so hard it's making my headache worse.  I love you for this post.

WTF was that shit? Seriously? At least it's over is my one positive take away from that. I'm no Beyoncé fan but that was like a spoke word performance. And, yea, the whole world knows your pregnant no need to keep reminding us.  Now, I'm old-ish and am actually surprised at the amount of younger artists I like and have heard on the radio this year but Beyoncé just will not ever grow on me. I liked her back in her Destinys Child days when she was a group and not a solo artist.

I love spectacle.  But this is boring.

For me it's because there is nothing at all about this woman that is spontaneous. She's a fembot. I like Madonna but don't like her live performances because their overprogrammed. But at least Madonna isn't dead behind the eyes.

The NYT usually does live coverage, but they're not tonight.  The WaPo is though.  And it's...okay.

And as an aside, the music critic posted this piece the other day.  I was thinking about it with Twenty One pilots won and while Lukas Graham was performing.

Nope.  I love this.  This is spectacle. And it is very much Lemonade.

That's one thing I'll say for Beyonce - she cares about what her fans like and she gives it to them - the rest of us can go pound salt. There's a connection between her and her fans and that's cool.

That's great, but you can say that about any artist and their fans. You wouldn't be a fan (be it of Beyonce or Weird Al) if a connection hadn't been made.

As someone who prefers indie/singer songwriter/alternative music the Grammys offer very little for me. So these country categories are lost on me. Oh and there is not any Hamilton this year, so there is that as well.

There wasn't a better possible host than James Corden? Seriously?

Between tonight and her pregnancy-announcement photoshoot, Beyonce has clearly bought into her own hype.  Overindulgent and melodramatic, but somehow simultaneously boring.

That said, James Corden has also bought into his own hype.

That moment where a bunch of celebs get pulled into a Sweet Caroline stunt and Faith Hill and John Legend don't  know the words.

Blue Ivy!  Trying to be cute!  I don't wanna be mean to the kid but giiiiirl, have a seat with your daddy.

Beyonce looks like she's about queef out five rings to give to five special young people Kwame, from Africa...

But seriously. As long as we have Bruno Mars, we kinda don't need The Weeknd. That's what having performance and singing chops and joy sound like. Great job, buy some of that was...not live.

J. Lo. Why isn't Drake there with you? I mean, your relationship isn't as cute as y'all think it is, but still. You look a little lonely in your uncomfortable-looking ass dress.

I love Bruno Mars but not necessarily this particular ditty.

This is how I feel as well. Love Bruno, this song not so much.

I could do without the constant shots of people dancing in the audience.

On another note, will there be any awards given out at this award show?

Wait, you mean this is an award show, not an eclectic concert?

That's pretty much how most award shows are now...performances and speeches that get cut off.

They give out 75 awards before the TV show starts.  I think they give out less than 20 on the broadcast.  We're here for the music.

Or that's what they say anyway.

Hee! They could give us better music then.

This Katy Perry performance is pretty boring. That said I think she looks good as a blonde.

Katy Perry....this is...reminding me why I was glad you took last year off. Is this yeast infection ass pantsuit supposed to be a tribute to Hillary Clinton? Whatever. I'm tired, Katy. Katy, I'm tired. Why does your hair look like ass emoji?

Good grief, it's only 9:30 and I've finished my glass of wine.

I guess this means I need a refill.  Or I won't get through this.

... or if you're in Oregon, Washington or Colorado... well, you get the idea

Katy Perry trying to be the new Madonna, complete with crotch-grabbing,is awful. However I liked the conclusion of her song with the Constitution flashed across the screen.  And now Gary Clark!! YEAH, that's what I like!!
