TrixieTrue April 27, 2018 Share April 27, 2018 (edited) Aurora's money was explained in the first movie (which I think was actually the second book). In the first movie, she was the property manager for her complex and probably had a discount on the rent. Then she inherited her friend Jane's estate, including her house and money. She sold that house to buy the Julius house, and presumably sold the Julius house to buy the one she had in the most recent movie. In the first movie, when she's trying to figure out who the skull belonged to, she goes to a clothing store to question someone and comments that she can afford to splurge now, with the inheritance she got from Jane. On a personal note, I would like John to return to these movies. In the books, he and Aurora's mother get married. He's a nice addition to the cast and it makes more sense that Aurora would have friends out there talking to people and bringing back little bits for her to string together. Circa last summer or thereabouts. They started with their newest Christmas movies and have been adding like one or two new ones per month based on the current theme of the moment. They're apparently also looking for original works but I hear they are SUPER stingy about what they take for the original stuff. Even turning away books that are similar to their movies. I'm still waiting on the Crown For Christmas book but no idea if they are putting that out. 3 hours ago, susannot said: I'm watching The Beach House and I like it. The scenery is beautiful. Suzysite April 29, 2018 Share April 29, 2018 I normally watch about half of the Saturday night Hallmark offerings and then catch up the next day, but I actually stayed up until 11 to watch all of The Beach House. It was so well done. I'm not usually a fan of Andie's acting, but she was not bad in this. And the same for Chad Michael Murray. He was so good in the role I sometimes forgot it was him. Cherpumple May 2, 2018 Share May 2, 2018 I just saw on the Hallmark website that they're looking for submissions from authors who want their books turned into movies (link). I've jokingly thought of several ideas for cheesy romances over the years, and now I'm tempted to actually write one and get it self-published just to see if Hallmark is interested. They're pretty specific about what they want (no contact beyond hugging and kissing!) so I'll just stick to the formula and see what happens. I have the basic plot idea already, but I still need a fun artistic job for the main character. I've ruled out all the usual (florist, baker, ad exec, coffee shop owner, or anything to do with books), so maybe something with music or the visual arts. It has to be something that allows her to show off her beachy waves! 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4285130

Regarding the actress who played Poppy: Spoiler I wonder if she was happy to play the victim this time instead of playing another killer. She was the killer in both the Morning Show Mystery movie and Gourmet Detective: Death al Dente. She even killed the same actor in both movies (and he had a bit part in this one). 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4298736

I like both your ideas, Happywatcher! I'm sticking with a plain romance, without the murder mystery, to keep things simple. Is anyone planning to watch the new "royal wedding" movie on the 19th? ShelleySue May 7, 2018 Share May 7, 2018 The James Brolin movie this weekend was nice for a change. The heroine didn't end up marrying a prince, she as a princess in her own right! Talk about changing things up (said with sarcastic tone). I don't keep track of British royalty. Has the Harry/Meghan wedding been in the works for a long time? I'm wondering how Hallmark had time to come up with so many royal themed movies to tie-in with the wedding. Was it a coincidence? I know that there were more than the usual Christmas royalty themed movies last year. Here is my idea for a series: Beautiful high powered widowed female attorney realizes she's been neglecting her son. At that very moment she finds out she inherited her aunt's bakery in a small town that looks like a suburb of Vancouver. She has spent her summers there and but hadn't visited her aunt since going to college. She goes back with her son to sell the bakery. On the way into town she's caught speeding The police officer (the police chief) is her old boyfriend. The policeman/old boyfriend immediately bonds with the son. When the woman goes to look at the bakery before selling it she has flashbacks to happier times. But then she opens the door of the walk in freezer and finds a body. It's the local curmudgeon who owns the whole block except for the bakery. He had been pressuring the aunt to sell the bakery so that he could tear down the historical buildings and build a box store. Together the attorney and police chief solve the murder. Of course the second to last scene will be the attorney confronting the murderer and having him tell her why and how he killed the curmudgeon. Just as he's about to kill her she hits him with a rolling pin and saves herself. The last scene is the grand re-opening of the bakery because the attorney has decided to stay and become a baker. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4300618

MissyPoo May 11, 2018 Share May 11, 2018 Saw Nearlyweds pop up on the app which means no more channel appearances for that one. Rewatching it again after all these years, I forgot how progressive that movie was for Hallmark's usual movies. Mixed couples, married couple bed scenes, a flamboyant hairdresser, innuendo. I'm guessing those aspects and the fact it isn't a Crown Media production meant its banishment from the main channel. A bummer because it's one of my faves. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4316817

I found I was very invested in the mother daughter relationship, and I liked what they did with the young single mom and the brother too. I liked it too. I wonder if they're thinking of doing the sequels. On 5/7/2018 at 10:00 AM, ShelleySue said: I don't keep track of British royalty. Has the Harry/Meghan wedding been in the works for a long time? I'm wondering how Hallmark had time to come up with so many royal themed movies to tie-in with the wedding. Was it a coincidence? I know that there were more than the usual Christmas royalty themed movies last year. I never considered that these movies were done because of Harry and Meghan but it makes sense. I just thought they were popular so Hallmark went on a run. I know that Harry and Meghan got engaged around Thanksgiving but I seem to recall that there were rumors they'd get married for a few months before that. Someone who knows royals more than I could give more details but apparently royals only make the kind of appearances they were making together when things are pretty serious--pre-engagement serious. So it would involve a bit of a gamble but it's possible they could have put things together a year ago. MissyPoo May 15, 2018 Share May 15, 2018 I forgot to give a heads up that a Jane Doe marathon was on this weekend on the mystery channel. One of my faves of classic Hallmark mysteries next to the Mystery Woman series. I really wish they would've made more of these back in the day. Or at least had a continuation in book form. Such fun stories, characters, a believable romance between the lead and her husband, not so annoying kids, and the mystery/espionage aspect didn't feel tacked on or boring. Plus I could ogle more Joe Penny/Frank Darnell. Depending on where you watch, it may still be available On Demand at the moment. MissyPoo May 16, 2018 Share May 16, 2018 Oh bummer. :-( Hopefully, they re-air it again. I just noticed they only played 6 out of the 9 movies so I'm hoping they show it again in full sometime real soon. If I hear or see anything, I'll be sure to post it here. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4328878

EyewatchTV211 May 20, 2018 Share May 20, 2018 I agree. It's too bad, because I even liked the lead actor guy better than I thought I would from pictures and the brief previews. But they just made the Americans look so bad. Like when Sarah decided to take a nap before dinner - who doesn't set an alarm on your phone when you know you have to be up at a certain time? At least have her set an alarm and then be so tired that it doesn't wake her. Though I guess the palace staff would hear and come wake her and she would make it to dinner on time, so no manufactured drama. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4344161
Happywatcher May 22, 2018 Share May 22, 2018 Watched the Gourmet Detective yesterday, again. A Healthy Place to Die. I like the leads a lot, and the characters flow well in this one, since this time the writers had Brooke's character stop the snide bitch act that seems to come on at random. When Maggie got on Henry's case it seemed legit. In fact, liked it so much I checked the hotel out online. The resort is real, the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa. Maggie's suite is also real, and with very careful shopping is only 245 CAN a night, midweek low season. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4348420

Yet he was aware enough to agree with me that this was one of the worst movies in a long time. We both felt like screaming at the characters. Ugh! The prince had a whole flight with what-ever-her-name-was but didn't take the time to teach her the least little bit of royal protocol? And I realize that she only had a short time to pack, but shouldn't she have realized that she'd have to "dress" for dinner? The movie was so bad that after about 45 minutes of getting upset with the characters I fast forwarded to the very end. I'm sure I didn't miss much in the middle except for a lot of stupidity. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4353138

Koalagirl May 27, 2018 Share May 27, 2018 I turned this movie off as well after the first 45 minutes but not before I noticed that her pink suitcase was the same one used in another “American commoner falls in love with a prince” movie. I don’t remember the name of the movie but it’s the one where the king hires her to find a match for his son. I think I need a life if I’m actually remembering a suitcase! Sounds like Royal Matchmaker with Bethany Joy Lenz. I don't remember the suitcase, but don't worry, we all catch on to useless things like that and a pink suitcase is unusual enough to stand out. Hallmark being that cheap comes as no surprise. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/20615-hallmark-movies-small-town-royalty-magically-celebrating-rekindled-love-general-discussion/page/43/#findComment-4367704

I wonder if their budgets are higher than normal. On another topic, it looks like even though there was a PSYCH marathon on Memorial Day on HMM, they have already dropped it from weekday schedule and shifted MONK back to afternoon. For this week at least, they are airing three 2-hr movies in 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM EDT time slots including several older ones from 2011 - 2013. Currently watching "Fixing Pete" from 2011 with a dark brunette Brooke Burns.
