I never saw the Matrix movies and I saw Point Break once when it was released, but since I love the movie Speed, I have no excuse for that question :) 1 Link to comment
ribboninthesky1 September 13, 2014 Share September 13, 2014 He also had a couple of east Asian-themed action films last year, though I think maybe 5 people in the US saw them. Nevertheless, I fully support Keanu as Action...Hero. Well, anti-hero, I suppose, in this context. And how is that man 50? Not that 50 is old by any means, but damn, he could easily pass for early to mid 30s and no one would blink. He never did it for me when he was younger, but damn if he's not getting sexier. It is so unfair that men can age so well. 3 Link to comment
Dejana September 13, 2014 Share September 13, 2014 A Serena trailer finally surfaces: Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence filmed it soon after Silver Linings Playbook and before American Hustle. Most busted Oscar bait of this ilk would've been released in the "off-season" or dumped via VOD a year ago; the articles about the movie's troubled history will probably be more interesting than Serena itself, ultimately. Maybe a trailer for Nailed will show up next. JLo in a glorified Lifetime movie with the world's oldest teenager: Link to comment

I always knew that Vader was Luke & Leia's father. That has deeply affected me, I do my best to avoid news, trailers, etc. Sometimes I don't even read the back of the book before I buy it. So you're not alone. Link to comment

First Silver Linings Playbook, now this one. Angelina and Darren Aronofsky were developing this together for a while. Link to comment
KatWay September 16, 2014 Share September 16, 2014 I can't even pinpoint why, but Serena looks godawful to me. That hair also is doing nothing whatsoever for JLaw and she looks weirdly miscast (in a trailer. What? I didn't say it was rational). I wonder what a Aronofsky/Angelina Jolie version would have looked like - and that's even though I prefer Jennifer Lawrence to Angelina Jolie as an actress. Link to comment

methodwriter85 September 17, 2014 Share September 17, 2014 In what world does Ryan Guzman pass as a teenager? I could *maybe* buy him as a college senior. In any event, I'm laughing my ass off at just how dead and C-list J.Lo's movie career is now. I'm sorry, I just can't buy Jennifer Lawrence as a seasoned lumber titan. 1 Link to comment

In any event, I'm laughing my ass off at just how dead and C-list J.Lo's movie career is now. I'm sorry, I just can't buy Jennifer Lawrence as a seasoned lumber titan. Lol, when I heard Ryan Guzman was doing this movie, I thought maybe there was another Ryan Guzman or that I was mixing him up with someone else. Ryan is hot and charismatic but he cannot under any circumstance pass for a teenager. I know they have to have someone over 18, but they really couldn't find a muscular 18-22 year old who could pass for a senior in high school. It kind of takes the suspense out of the movie if your supposed to be outraged that she slept with a "child" who looks 30, and in real life is older than Jennifer Lopez's last boyfriend. Compare this to Notes on a Scandal where the "kid" Cate Blanchett sleeps with actually looks like a high school student, or The Reader for inspiration. Also, couldn't this movie work just as well if she was a professor at a college and Ryan was a freshman or sophomore who maybe tutored her kid? It certainly would be slightly more believable. Don't get me wrong I like Jennifer, and actually think she is a good actress and has made many good movies that people don't like to give her credit for, but this just looks beneath her. To think she dropped out of the Chilean Minor movie for American Idol and this. 1 Link to comment
methodwriter85 September 17, 2014 Share September 17, 2014 (edited) The frustrating thing about J.Lo is that she had a chance to have a great career. She really did, but her diva ways and her desire to bid on becoming America's Sweetheart took her to where she is now. Her best chance to redeem herself would be to work as a supporting actress in critically-acclaimed projects, but again, she'd rather get money from American Idol and play the leading actress in a shitty glorified Lifetime movie than take actual chances. I'm not sure Jennifer Lawrence can fit into period pieces- meaning, stuff before the 1950's. She does look out of the place there, and could you imagine her in a movie set before the 20th century? She's supposed to star as Cathy Ames in the new adaption of East of Eden, which takes place during the late 19th/early 20th century. Even better, there's a young version of Cathy, and then there's supposed to be a middle-aged version of Cathy that faces off against her teenaged son that she abandoned. I am absolutely terrified that we'll be subjected to Jennifer Lawrence in age make-up if they decided to show the second half of the story. Yeah, Ryan Guzman would fit better if the outrage is over J-Lo's character sleeping with a married guy in his mid 20s that she met when he was pushing a stroller around a park. Maybe if people are aghast upon finding out that the couple is celebrating their 10th anniversary? 2 Link to comment

I saw the trailer to that when I went to see The Drop this afternoon, and while there are, as xaxat says, a lot of sexy people in it, if I wanted to watch low-rent porn I'd turn on Skinemax. You should, OTOH, see The Drop, because it's probably Tom Hardy's best work ever. Link to comment

I'm beginning to love "toned down" Tim Burton just as much as I love "outrageous, colorful" Tim Burton. Looks really good. Amy may have a decent shot of winning this year. Ironically her biggest competition so far is Julianne Moore, another multiple nominee who has never won. Link to comment
