AimingforYoko July 6, 2022 Share July 6, 2022 My guess is, the only reason Margot Robbie is the female lead and not Jennifer Lawrence is that she was busy having a kid. 1 Link to comment

Spartan Girl July 14, 2022 Share July 14, 2022 The Munsters looks like shit. Not because it looks cheap and cheesy, I could forgiven that. What I can’t forgive how they didn’t look, sound, or act like Herman, Lily, and Grandpa in the slightest. 1 3 Link to comment
xaxat July 14, 2022 Share July 14, 2022 I'm surprised that the owners of The Munsters' intellectual property rights went with Rob Zombie to helm the project. Because family friendly comedy is the last thing that comes to mind when I think of his movies. 1 Link to comment
Anduin July 21, 2022 Share July 21, 2022 I was looking forward to the D&D movie, but that trailer I'm really not sure about. Too much comedy for my liking. Some people have said that it more resembles the way D&D ends up being played, rather than an actual fantasy novel or something. I've always been a little too disorganised to actually play RPGs, can anyone else confirm? Also, Sophia Lillis looks distractingly like Black Widow here. She's playing a thief, right? It might be deliberate. Link to comment

It looks funny, and *I guess* it makes sense for this to be a parody, but I might rather have a non-parody biopic of Weird Al. Link to comment

Shannon L. August 30, 2022 Share August 30, 2022 I loved the original Fletch, but I'm not impressed with the trailer for the new one. I'm not sure if it's the writing or if John Hamm simply doesn't have the comedic chops that Chevy Chase has. I may change my mind, though, with a 2nd trailer or if it's getting good audience reviews. 1 Link to comment

RedElf October 27, 2022 Share October 27, 2022 Everybody's all happy about the announcement of a new Henry Cavill Superman movie, but I'm actually excited about "Argylle", by Matthew Vaughn, starring Cavill. It's about a spy with amnesia who gets convinced that he's actually a famous author of spy novels. The thing that excites me the most is the cast: Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, Rob Delaney, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, Jing Lusi and Samuel L. Jackson. 1 Link to comment
Scarlett45 December 6, 2022 Share December 6, 2022 I saw an ad for this movie on YouTube: Champions staring Woody Harrelson- Quote A former minor-league basketball coach receives a court order to guide a team of players with intellectual disabilities. Despite his doubts, he soon realizes that together they can go further than ever imagined. From the preview, first I thought it was great that so many actors with mental disabilities were able to get work, and the story was actually going to be about THEM and their lives (they didnt just exist as inspiration porn or a way for Woody's character to be a better person), I also liked that a character's sister played a big role (even if she ends up sleeping with Woody, but I rarely see the Sib relationship in media!), but the "almost use" of the R word for laughs, isn't funny. Calling anyone a slur is never funny, but the "almost" but "not" seems to be a way of picking on a community where a lot of the members CANNOT fight back (punching down). And that not okay, and you dont get inclusion points. I might have to wait and see what other people in similar situations think before I watch cause I am sensitive about these things. I don't have much hope for a sensitive portrayal of people with intellectual disabilities when the movie is directed by the man who brought us There's Something About Mary and Shallow Hal--Bobby Farrelly. 1 1 Link to comment

Oh, damn there I go getting all excited. Thanks for letting me know, I hadnt looked up the production yet. I actually didnt mind Shallow Hal, but I agree with you. There is a way to write a comedy and not have a vulnerable community be the butt of the joke. Link to comment

I saw the name in the trailer and went to verify that it is indeed the same Farrelly. Maybe the full cast of appropriate actors will stop the movie from going full punching down, but I can already see some of the supposed comedy that will be milked with adding a female player to the team of guys. 1 Link to comment

If it helps at all, this looks like an almost exact American remake of a 2018 Spanish film of the same name (that was nominated for multiple film festival awards and even won a few). Judging from the original version's trailer, the American version cleaned it up a bit (you do hear the slu 2 or 3 times in this trailer): 1 1 Link to comment

Scarlett45 December 15, 2022 Share December 15, 2022 I saw this one during an ad on YouTube. From what I gather, Florence Pugh's character suffers from alcoholism, and there was a drunk driving (or another accident) where her soon to be sister-in-law was killed and she was partly responsible? (I assume her fiancé broke up with her or is incapacitated in some way from this accident) She has to learn to forgive herself and gets through her addiction while bonding with her wouldve been father-in-law. I love Florence, and Morgan Freeman is a gem so this looks good. Link to comment

Bastet December 24, 2022 Share December 24, 2022 That's a great cast, and I really like Sarah Polley's sensibilities as a director, so I bet it's a terrific film.
