CMH1981 November 10, 2014 Share November 10, 2014 So it's official...Whoopi is the second coming of Barbara Walters. Whoopi now has to throw in tidbits to explain to us simpletons in the viewing audience. As soon as she explained, oh i'm sorry...interrupted, that CJ Cregg was a character on the West Wing during Nicole's story my mind went to this was Whoopi's Barbara moment. Other than Rosie P forcing her love of boxing on us and of course another Youtube clip they didn't even discuss much, this was such a boring episode Can I just say that I can't stand the weekly, if not what seems like daily talking about boxing is so off-putting to me. I get that this is Rosie P's love and passion in her down time, but she seems to try and force this on her co-hosts and us the viewers. Can't stand it, perhaps it's just me. 13 Link to comment

Former Nun November 10, 2014 Share November 10, 2014 OMG! Must Have Monday AND "the fabulous" Tai Beauchamp (I had to rewind to get her name)??? Be still my pocketbook. She's so intent on being perky and saying all the lines she rehearsed that she asks questions of Noelle and then doesn't let her answer. I'm sure the Swarovski Crystal people are happy that she didn't bother to learn to pronounce their name. Swar-OV-skee...not SWOR-skee. This segment is ridiculous on every level. 9 Link to comment

ginger90 November 10, 2014 Share November 10, 2014 (edited) I'm just guessing here, but I don't think Whoopi would react too well if someone else described President Obama's jacket as "pimp purple". In my opinion, she would see it as racist. So, there's Whoopi making fun ? of the President in a traditional Chinese-style outfit. Lovely. Edited November 10, 2014 by ginger90 10 Link to comment
merriebreeze November 10, 2014 Share November 10, 2014 Rosie, the consummate fan, slowly came to the realization that Babs was not up to the job. And it was painful to learn. No doubt she's been a Whoopi admirer for some time, too. But Rosie's too savvy not to see that Whoopi is a terrible moderator. Whoopi's a performer, but she cannot interview or maintain any sort of engaging conversation. That's a special skill and just because you rub elbows with celebrities doesn't mean you know how to talk with them for the audience's entertainment. Personally, I think the all-knowing Whoopi persona is a cover for a whole lot of insecurities. Also, I may be in the minority, but I don't mind Rosie P's latino push or her obsession with boxing. It's an interesting new insight for me. 9 Link to comment

Bronzedog November 11, 2014 Share November 11, 2014 Today is the first time in quite awhile that I turned the show off midway through. It was pretty boring. This is the show that has Mike Tyson on a few times a year so all the co-hosts can fawn all over him (Mike! You're the best rapist ever!! Please don't hit me!!!). so the boxing obsession isn't surprising. 5 Link to comment

Not a fan and RPs passion for it will not change my mind. They need to leave it alone on this show. I don't know why the PTB think The View would capture that demographic. kaygeeret November 11, 2014 Share November 11, 2014 Professional football at some times, too. I would venture to say football at all times. I live in Wisconsin and you know I grew up with the Green Bay Packers. I was a faithful fan......until..... I no longer watch and would never want a child or indeed any relative of mine to play. It is far to risky. A grade/high school classmate of mine married a defensive player for the Minnesota Vikings. He exhibited all the signs and died early. I give her credit for having his brain sent for analysis. There was a comprehensive interview with Bret Favre in our local Sunday paper yesterday. He is basically upbeat and busy, but the spector of what could be in his future given the number of concussions he has had is present in his life. There is a lot to discuss on this topic and I wish they would go there. I would love to ask Rosie P her feelings on the effects of boxing on the boxers. I realize that could seem like confrontation, but if done properly it could be a great hour. Yeah, Whoopi is not up to the job and a year ago I would have been gobsmacked if you had said I would feel this way today! 6 Link to comment
Cosmocrush November 11, 2014 Share November 11, 2014 (edited) I didn't make it more than a few minutes into the show today after seeing RO was gone and not knowing or caring who the guest host was (and after she said she had some biggest selling song 10 years ago I cared even less) so as soon as Whoopi said her "Don't Tweet me, I don't care." I was out. I'm not sure why we should care about what Whoopi Goldberg says about anything with that kind of attitude towards the viewers that keep her on this show: something someone should tweet to ABC News, lol. I did watch long enough to hear Whoopi say that not everyone has a price and some gigs just aren't worth any amount of money to her, and then I laughed out loud. Puh-lease. I think Whoopi has proven over and over she will take any job as long as the check clears. Nicolle's "I can't think of any job I wouldn't do for $800 million!" was actually funny. Anyway, as much as I enjoy Nicolle and even Rosie P (when her voice isn't grating on me) I'm just not interested in The Whoopi Goldberg Hour, starring Whoopi Goldberg. Well said. I'm right there with you. I've never understood the appeal of boxing. Two adult individuals beating the crap out of each other for the entertainment of others? How is that barbarity still a "sport?" I get that for a limited few this is an avenue out of poverty, and there is certainly something to be said for the physical and mental discipline required, but for the vast majority all I see is exploitation of these young men, and now women, for entertainment and the financial gain of others. I think dog and cock fighting are apt analogies. The only difference is boxers (theoretically) have a choice to sacrifice their brains and bodies and sometimes their lives for the roar of the crowd and the hope of making a few bucks. Personally, I just find it violent, bloody and generally appalling. 5 Link to comment
Morgalisa November 11, 2014 Share November 11, 2014 (edited) Both interviews were really, really awkward. WTH? Today's show felt cobbled together. The actress from Castle looked a little stunned that her segment was over. Then Whoopi made a lame comment to her that they just had her on because the proposal episode was so exciting or some such crap, as she sat there looking stunned. Sting sat there with his arms in the closed position to ward off the evil stink of The View. I kind of tuned out a lot today. Please come back Rosie. In the somewhat words of Valerie Cherish...."I don't want to hear that..." in regards to Whoopi and her vibrator. Really show? There better be repercussions for that talk, b/c If Rosie O had made mention of that Faux News and mainstream media would be all over it. Do you think Whoopi is feeling dissed that she hasn't been given the Presidential Medal of Freedom yet? You just know that she feels she deserves that honor as and EGOT winner and woman of color. They messed up w/Naya Rivera on the show b/c I would have been all over the talks of her being dismissed from Glee last season and now coming back for a victory lap it seems. I would have given her the option to share her side of the story/feud w/Lea Michele. I would be open to replacing Rosie P w/Naya as the current latina and fill the option as the young one on the show. 1 Link to comment

Does anyone remember an old show where Whoopi and the guest talked about a difficult director they had on a movie together? I think maybe it was Drew Barrymore. That could be who she was referencing today because she had no kind words for this man and said she would never consider working for him again. I couldn't decide which one of her movies it was (looking on imdb) so I thought someone here might remember. I had to agree with Nicolle - I can't think of much I wouldn't do for $800 million... If you have to be stuck with people for a long period of time that you can't stand, is the money worth it? I had a chance to make more money (not 800 million lol) and the hours would only slightly change. The problem was the person I would be working with on a daily basis was a miserably negative person, I had worked with her in the past. After talking to my husband, I turned it down. I would have walked out within a week if every day I had to deal with her. The money would have helped, but I couldn't imagine being miserable everyday. I think WG "whoring" herself out for depends or whatever they were, is different than being stuck on a set with someone you can't stand. Edited November 12, 2014 by imjagain 3 Link to comment
