I really thought before Rex left he was going to figure out the mask mystery.  He worked with the Doctor and told Sarah about the masks the doctor was working on in the past.

Brady isn’t the smartest guy but really who would think someone was wearing such a magical mask.

Marlena didn’t look like she was going to have a helpful therapist talk with Nicole.  Marlena looked pissed off with a fake shady smile.

Anna, who, if anyone, have you been carrying around all these years?

I feel bad for Anna if it turns out she's been carrying around a shoulder bag full of powdered Japanese hardwood charcoal for the last few years. (Of course, Shut Up, Rafe! lugs around a head full of pea gravel, but he's kind of used to it by now.)

I think the "little wifey can't cook! Awww, ain't she cute?" trope must have existed since at least the 1950s, or possibly the beginning of soaps. "Sturdy cliché" ain't the same as "good," Ron. It's 2019 everywhere.

I’m vegan and think even I could cook a steak with out burning it. Very hot skillet, turn perpetually for 10 minutes. If you have a meat thermometer stick it in the center and its ready at 135 or 145. Let it rest for 3 minutes then serve. Also Ciara has a smart phone and could google or YouTube it.

What does Ciara do all day? The past few months when she worked for Roman she apparently only showed up a a couple days a month. Now she isn’t “working” does she just hang out at Ben’s all day or?

Marlena being such an Anna and Tony fan makes me laugh for some reason.

Ciara worrying about Gabi having an grudge against Ben because he kidnapped her but no mention of him killing her sister o r trying to kill will.

Kristen needs to take  a hike  and stop lusting after  Brady...

And they need to stop bringing back Kristen, Nicole and Eve .

These characters are completely played out.

This show goes out of its way to sanitize Ben as an SK which is a disservice to the character as I find it the most interesting thing about him. JJ and Eve seem to be the only ones that acknowledge his victims (in JJ's case strangely all of them). I mean when Marlena said you did this to get revenge on Ben. Eve responded he murdered my daughter Marlena and barely a reaction from dear old Mar over it.

However Will's alive(through a technicality and ignoring the fact that Ben did intentionally kill him and is only alive by a medical miracle) so it doesn't matter eh?

I don't expect Gabi to care about Paige she didn't know her and it didn't stop her from getting with JJ either.

That being said outside of that there should be more anger, fear, distrust etc towards him and its like "whatever" then again this show has made death and murder inconsequential that characters being upset over it would seem strange.

If Charlotte Ross were to miraculously return as Eve I could easily forget the last couple years of Eve but beyond that I agree. I would want a revisit of JJ/Eve w/ CR's version.

On another note I finally realized what Sarah's green jumpsuit reminds me of: She's dressed like Gumby.

Is this show Days of our Kristens now? I’ve had more than enough.

Sarah seemed blown away Eric cooked for her and bought her flowers but Rex was shown doing that for her many x. I’m not really sure why she gushes over and praises him constantly since forever.

I jinxed it by quipping about Xander being an imposter since he’s worn a shirt daily since his return...then he went nonstop shirtless. They must be in the hamper now or the himbo fashion police caught him for being properly attired too consecutively and warned him if he didn’t tow the line he’d have to live in a speedo or chaps.

Why do I feel like there are snarky high-fives going on in Wardrobe right now?

That woman certainly has a rich fantasy life.

Tony (or possibly "Tony," I don't know (or care)): "You're absolutely insane!"

Sandman: "How are you just noticing this now?"

I've decided Xander must be the poor relation of the Kiriakis clan; he can only afford half as much clothing as other people.

Anna, please carry on slapping the taste out of Tony (oh, whoever)'s mouth as frequently as you can manage it. I'm enjoying it immensely. Love, Sandman

I enjoyed Anna slapping Tony. Well deserved. Who has she been carrying around all these years?

The Eric and Sarah food foreplay was boring. Someone has to wash those clothes - even take the jumpsuit to the dry cleaner. Or just chuck it away. Such a waste of food too.

So Hope knows about both surprise parties? At least she is using John to investigate who murdered Ted.

Surprised Nicole's mask didn't fall off when Brady was touching it. Yeah, Brady, she seems familiar because she is familiar and she is not Nicole. She certainly didn't say much to Doc - too bad Doc didn't have some sort of secret with her that Kristen wouldn't know about.

Xander does have a nice build but it must get cold being shirtless all the time.

We went from Days of our Eve to Days of out Kristen.  Ron has more interest in writing for these characters than he does heroines they use to write for.   I'm so tired of Rons version of Days.  He needs to get out of the 90s version of Days

Well, in the ratings thread, when you click the link, you will see that Days has reached new lows. (Not that the other three are doing much better, granted.) But it shows that this crap just is not working. At all.

That’s a really good observation. The thing is, both have in the past been interesting characters with rich history, but IMO opinion they work better as interlopers who shake things up for a time, rather than leads. Aside from being on too high a rotation for me, they’ve also become less nuanced and less likeable to the point that the only part of their stories I’m rooting for is that they be over. Stat.

Well tbh this show stopped caring about heroines a long time ago. The only heroines they care about are those that had past glory on this show Kayla, Jennifer, Hope but as far as the ones who are supposed to usher the future? Yeah they don't care.

None of the soaps do its easier to write a bad character than it is to write a good one.

Wonder if Nicole is on John or Marlena invite list.

John still sells his love for doc.  He was very cute talking about his love.

Hope looked especially pretty yesterday.  She has a nice smile.

I do feel bad for Brady.  It was nice to finally see him in scenes with his other family

Anna is a great character who I don’t really know.  Tony is the love of her life but she seemed made that Roman was with Kate.

Xander is right Ted had many enemies

I am in FULL agreement here, @CanaryFan98 lol. Charlotte Ross IS Eve Donovan.

Heh. From All About Eve to The Empire of Kristendom?

Personally, I wouldn't mind going back to BKE (Before the Kristen Era).

When you'd think that most people would be happy to be reunited with a presumed dead loved one, it was curious to me that Anna basically had a tantrum and smacked Tony around.  She seemed more intent on being angry that he didn't behave how she'd expected than trying to understand why he behaved the way he did.  Not that any of this being written in a thoughtful manner.

Dear Julie,

Get over yourself, the world does not revolve around you!

Dear Justin,

You're an idiot!

Dear Eve,

Go away!

Dear JJ/Haley,

Try communicating. Leave Tripp alone. And I don't even like Tripp. Also, use your big girl voice, Haley.

Signed,

Sometimes this show drives me nuts and today was one of those days!

I was only glad that she backed down as quickly as she did!  Out of ALL the awful story lines this would have been one of the worst.

Jesus, Ron's obsession with rape is downright disgusting. Yes, it is part of Jack's history, but the real writers of yesteryear dealt with it masterfully. Ron is just about cheap thrills. It's GROSS.

Oh, and Ron? Thanks for ruining Eve Donovan completely, dickwad. Eve was always a gray hat, not downright a black hat.

I fully agree. I could see the actors pouring this emotion into their lines because the lines themselves were so perfunctory and clearly skewed towards highlighting the current storyline with Tony and Nicole. The whole time I just felt like both actors were wishing they were getting the kind of dockside reunion scene that John and Marlena had had years earlier. Hasn't Tony been gone the longest of any Super Couple person? 10 years is a long time in soaps. I would have thought their first reunion would have been all about sobbing and thanking God. I feel badly for them that they didn't get that because it seems clear they would have been game.

Yeah, Julie would know all about daughter-sisters.

Julie has a lot she can be criticized for, but that was more on Addie than Julie. Since Julie technically loved Doug first. But, yeah, Doug being with both mother and daughter and then having a child with said mother...the family tree branch is twisted for sure!

I give Bill Hayes a lot of credit: In his 90s and still acting, etc. Good for him! But I do agree that, where the whole Addie/Julie/Hope deal is concerned, Doug is more to blame.

I liked Trask getting her job back. And a 15% raise!

Enjoyed Jack and Jenn.

Julie, you maybe need to take a seat or two. If Chloe made a booking, everything should be online now and you would have easily seen that the 'engagement party' date was already booked. You just can't keep closing the restaurant for private events - you will go out of business.

Tripp, you should not be getting meds for Haley. And Haley should communicate with JJ and perhaps her HR department at the hospital about any sort of medical type leave or whatever. No, no one needs to know she is on medication unless it directly affects her job.

Thank God for Jack and Jenn today or Show would have been pretty much unwatchable.  Those two self-centered twits, Julie and Haley ate way too much of it today.

I would love it if the next time Julie pulled her usual self-centered emotional manipulation of being "hurt" and pouting, like a wizened 5 year old with her own AARP card, whoever she was doing it to, instead of begging to know how they "offended" her, just turned around and walked away.

I really could get behind a story where somebody buried Julie alive.  The suspect list would be endless, and with any luck, the search for her would take months.

And then there was Haley.  If only there wasn't Haley.

I really enjoyed Jack and Jenn's confrontation, as I did his with Adrienne.  Eve's a pain in the ass, but I always did like her with Justin.  In any case, I'm interested to see where Justin is going with this lawsuit thing.  Whatever it is, I doubt he's doing it to benefit Eve in any way.

Julie, go book a cruise, any cruise, going anywhere, the longer the better.  I bet we could could crowdfund your fare and get you out of Salem in no time flat.  Arrivaderci, strega!

I could see Justin making this divorce very easy for Jack by being nice to Eve. That would be a nice twist. I mean really he's already doing the worst thing he could do to Eve by being her lawyer in the first place....

I loved Jack & Jennifer today! They reminded me of the 'old" Jack&Jennifer.  When Jennifer put her hand on his chest to admonish him & then he took her hand, the look between them was delightful.

They still have 'it' that's for sure -- loved it, too. I wouldn't mind a semi-drawn out trip back to each other with more scenes like this, although if they pair either one with someone else in the meantime and make it about that, I'll fry my TV, lol.

Long-term exposure to Salem must have an detrimental effect on one's mind. So I am probably crazy to say this, there's more chemistry in those few secs of Eric carrying Sarah to Sofa and them making out than all the scenes LG and GV had with PT, KL and AZ in a year.

Anyway, this Tuesday's episode was a pleasant surprise for me. First was Tony/Anna and second was Sarah/Eric. I am truly shocked at how much chemistry LG and GV really have. It's so fortunate those idiots in charge messed up in the last few months.

Yeah, I finally tuned into the show after giving myself a break for a couple of weeks and very little has changed.  I do kind of like watching Xander flounder around, realizing that he's been set up by Kristen, though I do wonder why he's answering John and Hope's question--they are just two private citizens with zero authority.

I have no words for Ben and Ciara--he is condescending and she's an entitled idiot--a match made in heaven :)

True. But at least, in John's case back when he thought he was Roman and was a cop, I recall him actually being able to solve a case or two before the police department caught the same affliction that the PD over on GH did and was dumbed down.

Hope? Well, maybe she wasn't a great cop, but at least she knows the routine.

So I'd go with them before the actual police officers at this rate.

I don't remember thinking "Don't go there -- don't go there!" so hard at my tv screen in a long time. I agree the reliance of this show, and this particular writing staff especially, on rape as plot device is appalling -- it's a sick obsession.

She kept the voice modulator on. It's a small chip stuck to her throat, hidden by the mask.

Yeah someone else watching the show with me today also commented on Tony's suit. I thought it was fine. Mostly, I liked that it wasn't wrinkled to hell.

I got a big kick out of Xander calling John A Poor Man's 007!

Why is Kristin taunting Anna when she claims she needs Tony to maintain their facade of a marriage until she gets the company back?  Are we supposed to read that as Kristin being reckless with her plan, or did they just want a silly cat fight scene?

The best part of today's episode was Kate's pantsuit, and I don't care that much about wardrobe.

What's this I hear about Eve wanting to falsely accuse Jack of rape?!?!?!?!

I was trying to come up with an example of the last time a soap did that and all I could think of was AMC and Liza falsely accused Jesse of attempted rape and that, of course, took place ten zillion years ago.  Oh Ron.  We already know Eve's a villain, go ahead and skip this.
