Forgive me if this was already discussed, but did we get scenes of Lani and Shawn sleeping together, Lani going through his wallet and removing a pic of Belle and Claire, then going into the shower to have sex? SOD included that in their weekly summary in this week's magazine, but I never saw that. NY affiliated stations did not get Days on 3/17 because of the Saint Patrick's Day parade, but that was weeks ago. I know there has been a lot of talk about scrapped story lines. Was that one of them or am I really not paying attention when watching this show?

All scrapped.  But Show kept the Summer crap.

  • Love 8

Wow, I'm surprised at how many stories they've scrapped.

I also thought KM did a reasonably good job -- her horror every time Ben touched her seemed real to me. Granted the jumping on the bed was over the top, but that's the writers. But I have a problem with how deliberate she is about this murder (with FIRE no less!), with her baby son downstairs. I know she's supposed to be losing it but she's playing it more like she's very sanely killing this guy. I'm looking forward to Chad's horror when he finds them.

I'm anxious to get on to other stuff, show. I liked Summer a teensy  bit more yesterday as Maggie was confessing to her, but that was short-lived and there's just no need for this character at all. Get on with it.

  • Love 5

How dare you insult Lifetime movies like this.

Failure doesn't deserve the honor of burning down the mansion.

I know right! Lifetime movies have come a long ways.

And I 100% agree. If anyone should burn the Dimera house it should be John or Marlena or Real Roman (Wayne).

All scrapped. But Show kept the Summer crap.

You know the Summer shit wouldn't had been so bad if

-She wasn't connected to Taniel and Maggie. Maybe if they connected her to Julie, kept Sonny around to do the tell tale heart with Paul via Will's dead body it been better.

  • Love 4

Ben is a crazy, messed up psycho. There really isn't any other explanation. He's clearly obsessed with her for some reason.

I'm amazed that Ben still wants Abby even after everything that has happened.

All the above is true, and the actor has some serious limitations.

BUT...DAYS! You can not use that little nothing of an actor to reference the divine Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter! Mitchum invented the writing on the knuckles thing for that movie, and showed the world how to portray a psychotic.

[in the background, the sound of Pearlite snuffling can be heard]

And while I'm at it, that obnoxious little tart Jade! Girly, the other day Kayla, undoubtedly upset, is gracious enough to put out food. And as you leave, you nasty little bim, you GRAB A COUPLA SANDWICHES FOR THE ROAD?

  • Love 6

No they haven't lol. They've actually gotten worse which is why I don't watch them much. I'm sure KM will be popping up in one sooner than later as some girl hooking her way through college or something.

Not all Lifetime movies are bad. I've seen some pretty good and interesting ones, even if some of them were cheesy. The Whitney Houston biopic was good and the Toni Braxton flick was very good too. I also liked Jen Lilley's Christmas movie that aired last year and it was pretty good too. I even liked the movie with a crazy lady obsessed with a teenage musician and pretending to be a nun at a local Catholic school. Really bizarre and over the top but still entertaining. But seeing as some current & former Days alum have appeared on Lifetime movies over the years, I won't be surprised if Kate Mansi has at least one Lifetime movie to her resume.

  • Love 4

I'm enjoying the Abigail losing her mind stuff. My soap-bar is set pretty low, and all I ask is that I be entertained and Friday's episode did that. I'm thrilled that I get the occasional good acting and story telling combo, but yeah...I'm generally pretty easy to please.

Switching gears and going back a few days. Goddamnit, Maggie. Victor is most certainly NOT the love of your life. Take it back, take back every awful word of what you said!

  • Love 10

Like I said,  KM did a pretty decent job but she takes me right out of the scene with that sparkle-like grinning she does for no reason.

To try to answer an earlier question, we're supposed to think Been is obsessed with her because Creepy Clyde kept telling him to hang on to her because she was too good for him.  Been seems to have forgotten the beatings he got as a small child that I guess turned him into this.  It was why Jordan took him away.  Nobody seems to know about how Clyde raped Jordan as a teenager.  Bad genes and Been listening to Creepy is how we got here I guess.  What doesn't ring true is that he was supposedly never told about Thomas's paternity.  The worst thing about Failure right now is how she is turning Chad into an F-propper making the sex even more stomach churning.  I'm so happy JJ is rising above the writing. She can go any time now.

KM did a great job playing the cray-cray. She looked totally disgusted by having to kiss Ben. Then she went for it with scissors and all. I guess they are sending Abigail away for a while till a replacement can be found. I know KM had a lot of haters. I didn't mind her as much but she really got too much airtime. I think had the show pulled back a little on her airtime the viewers might not have hated her so much. IMO!!! That said, I think it's so weird that KM & MR have hardly interacted with each other in the past few months. Maybe, MR was on vacation but they hadn't together in while. I just found that odd.

I think alot of Melissa Reeves scenes have been cut....

I think she was suppose to do a movie last year but she got into an accident or she was ill one.

But you right,

I give her 6 months to a year after she leaves if she doesn't score herself an A-list movie or a decent primetime role, she'll be on Lifetime, Hallmark or one of those F-list Troma movies.

I liked Abigail jumping up and down, squealing "Whee", while squirting the lighter fluid. It reminded me of those wonderful days when she scaled Mt. EJ, her joy at reaching for the stars....Such a sweet girl, the kind you'd take home to meet Mom - if Mom was Norman Bates in drag.

All that jumping and squealing must have made RSW feel like he was back on The Price Is Right.

Discussion of Kate Mansi's post-Days career moved to Days stars in other roles thread.

That was such a fun episode!  I love batshitcrazy Abby tying up batshitcrazy serial killer Ben on the bed and her gleefully jumping on the bed and throwing lighter fluid all over him!  Now that is great entertainment!  I also love how freakin' cheesy and bad the acting was all around from the gorgeous vapid guy that plays Ben to the struggling Kate Mansi trying to shake off her deadpan stare acting and actually try to convey some kind of emotion!  It was fun!  Personally, I'm glad Abby got back at Ben for trying to burn her alive at the cabin.  Ben deserves to get a taste of his own medicine!  I love it!

I like Vincent I as Deimos.  I think he makes a good villain.  He seems to click with all the actors and I like his confidence.  I'm pleased that he has joined "Days".  He seems to click really well with Kate and especially with Nicole.   I think Nicole has found a new problem to take her mind off of the late, often lamented Dr. Dan.  Thank God!

I don't understand why Jennifer didn't stay with Abby and help take care of the baby during Abby's time of crisis.  This Show sometimes just don't make sense!

I've wondered this at least a dozen times, too. And why are Chad and Abby floundering around in an empty, dark mansion -- where's Harold or whatever his name is?

  • Love 5

I'm loving the "WTF Mommy!?" looks baby Thomas is giving Abby today. He's already a fav character of mine for that alone.

Tell me, is Ben walking around on burned legs more or less stupid than everything going on with Steve, Kayla and Joey? I can't tell anymore.

where's Harold or whatever his name is?

Probably hiding in some secret passage for self-preservation. Abby IS on the prowl, let's remember, and Harold knows her history. He's the closest thing to a male DiMera left in that house, after Chad.

I was really, really sickened by the many, many, MANY shots of the burning flesh. That was gross. That was really gross. And absolutely disgusting.

Joey really lost the right to be a "smart ass" when he, you know, committed murder. It was very odd that he was sitting there all teenage bummed out, trying to charm Steve into letting him have his motorcycle back. Awww, such a sweet kid who just made a mistake. He learned his lesson...no drinking! And no more murder! Both very, very bad things!

Kayla looked very pretty in her hospital bed. They are so beautiful together. Crying Kayla makes me sad.

I don't usually pay attention to her scenes...but Abigail is one hell of a bad actress. I can tell that she herself does not think so, lol, but she is. That baby was very good, though.

  • Love 8

Salem is a town of coverups.

Missed the first 2 mins because of some breaking news.

Steve and Joey are talking at THS. Joey wants to know why Kayla is giving up.

Fynn shows Kayla her brain on a cat scan. If she doesn't treat it early she can have an aneurysm.

Ben is still pleading, but Abifail says putting Ben out his misery would be like putting down a dog. Chad is screaming Abifail's name. Abifail, has done it, she's setting fire to Ben's legs. Chad puts out the fire and she's crying because Chad is helping him. She says, HE NEEDS TO DIE. Yikes! Ben's legs are fucked up! Straight BBQ'd.

The show is just so horrific..Everybody has become criminals and this is why the ratings are falling. Watching Abigail set a man on fire is not entertainment. Daytime needs to stop emulating Primetime and go back to their roots.

I don't mind dark storytelling but in daytime you need a balance. Romance, drama, cliffhangers etc all the storylines and characters shouldn't be dark at the same time. This episode isn't bad on an entertainment level but the particular someone getting all the good meaty material sucks balls since her acting is bland and one note.

Joey needs to be sent back to boarding school. Or to jail. It's disappointing that the son of Kayla and Steve is such a loser.

Maybe if he runs away he can do most of us a favor

I agree about balance..Days has always had a gothic feel to it since the 80's. The adventure stories  that featured the supercouples always gave the show, it's own distinct identity  that separated it from the the other 12 soaps that existed at the time. The show has gotten very dark with Griffith, it is death, destruction and mayhem...I almost want Tomsell to come back...I still crack a smile when I think about Kate, Sami and Gabi throwing Nick's  presumed dead body into the lake..It was a dark story, but filled with humor...I loved how Sonny found about Nick's "death" by spying on the murderers on behalf of his love Will, who erroneously believed that the ladies were planning a surprise birthday party for him...

Agreed. Watching a man set on fire in detail was not entertainment I normally expect from a daytime soap. Too graphic, and I was taken a bit aback.

Kate, Sami and Gabi throwing Nick into the river was one of my favorite Days stories, Apprentice79, for all the reasons you say.  They really need to establish another strong trio of women friends/accomplices again.

Protective Chad is verrrry sexy.  It's too bad it's all over such a boring, useless blank like Abigail.

I actually like Dr. Finn quite a bit.  Dunno that he needs to be more than a supportive role/hospital mainstay, but I like him as he is right now.  He's competent, decent and funny ... which is the complete opposite of the judgemental, overbearing hero-wannabe known as Dr. Tan.

Did they say how Kayla got the injury?  I missed the first few minutes.  Hopefully Steve and Kayla will make their way back to each other soon, because SN and MBE are magic together and make this show worth watching in a way that not many others do not.

She got that injury due to the blow to the head that she got from Ava...

When Abicrazy was on top of Ben on Friday and pushing on his wound I kept thinking, if this was a real show, he would have either head-butted her or bitten her face.  Which would have been awful.  But it just struck me as so stupid that she would get that close to him, knowing how crazy he is.  Maybe now that she is crazy, her crazy trumps his?

The lack of Jennifer in this storyline is problematic.  She knows Ben is on the loose, and Abbifail is in the Dimera Mansion.  I would have expected her to show up with a suitcase and pick out a room next door to Chad and Abby's.

  • Love 7

Okay, one third of the show was great today. Let me clarify by saying it was not the third that focused on the nutty, non-acting boobs, more commonly known as Firestarter and Firestartee, nor was it the third taken up by two pointless teens that I find myself liking less and less each day because to reiterate, Joey is too stupid to live (I now refuse to believe he is related to Kayla, I think her real son is off somewhere being raised by circus people) and Ava Jr. is as nauseating as the monster who proceeded her.

Steve and Kayla were great as is always the case, just seeing them together gives me the feels. Having said that, today's episode really drove home A) how self-absorbed Steve can be and B) how he just doesn't get it. Time and time again since his latest Ava fiasco, Kayla has asked for space so she can breath, and Steve responds by trying to bulldoze her into submission. Don't give me the puppy dog face Steve when you continue to force Kayla to drop a brick building on you because you refuse to listen. A functional relationship cannot consist of you asking Kayla to tell you what she needs; having her tell you what she needs; only to have you treat Kayla as if she doesn't know what she needs because what she said is not what you, Steven Earl Johnson, want to hear. Kayla is not denying that she loves you, she is simply saying that sometimes love is not enough. No one who has been on this thirty year journey with you two wants to hear it, but it is true, and more importantly, it's where Kayla is now. Respect that, respect her and back-off. And Steve, I side-eyed you so hard when you had the nerve to ask Kayla what could have caused her head injury, you know full well what caused her head injury, and if you honestly don't know, check point A of this post.

As an aside #1, when will the Grat American Visionary who calls herself Kayla's mother notice that someone is wrong with her daughter, oh, I forgot, Caroline's head is so far up Victor's ass, she can't see anything that doesn't revolve around him.

As an aside #2, I have long been on the let another man be interested in Kayla to make Steve 1) step up his game and 2) realize just what he will lose if Kayla finally decides to dump him for good train. Since Deimos is clearly soon to be bouncing back and forth between Nicole and Kate, and there is no other man currently on the Salem seen who makes sense for a variety of of reasons, I say have Finn fall for Kayla while she is under her care, it could help him evolve beyond acting like an adolescent with his sex tapes. I'm not saying Kayla should necessarily respond fully you know, maybe a couple of "friendly" dates after Finn wears her down when Kayla voice age-appropriateness concerns. Let Kayla get only as involved as having her appreciate being appreciated without having to worry about her life being in jeopardy, and let Steve's head explode at the prospect. Heck, maybe have Steve and John scheme to find ways to undermine Finn, since Bo is not there to serve as Steve's partner in crime; maybe a Hope could serve as the voice of reason in the mix as she always had to when it came to Steve. I want Steve to have to work to get Kayla back, something he has never really had to do. By-and-by, Kayla has shipped Joey back to boarding school, or at the very least to live with his dopey father, this spares her and us from his incessant mommy/daddy whining.

Stream of consciousness thought -- if I'm not mistaken, when VI returned to Guiding Light as Lujack's twin, I think that story centered on the twin having somehow been given to and raised by circus people, or was that the Brick storyline on Santa Barbara. Damn I'm Old.

  • Love 5

I'm tired of seeing people go crazy for cheap thrills on soaps.  It's such a lazy overused plot by non creative writers. They slapped Abby with an unnecessary plot point  wtd baby already so now they just moved her onto the next dumb cliche. Figure out how to write for young people DAYS! I hate dark storytelling for the sake of shock value doesn't matter if its daytime or primetime.

  • Love 2

So Summer's Eve and Jade and her monotone voice get to be on screen but they CUT Melissa Reeves scenes? Jennifer is glaringly absent from all this Ben and Abby nonsense and it's stupid. The woman who was overly involved in her adult children's lives for the last year is nowhere to be found now? I know she's enjoying her pills lately but come on. I love seeing JJ but I think it's time he share scenes with other people and not just comforting his crazy sister.

Caroline didn't foresee Kayla passing out? Shocker.

  • Love 7

I don't usually pay attention to her scenes...but Abigail is one hell of a bad actress. I can tell that she herself does not think so, lol, but she is. That baby was very good, though.

This is the most awesome post EVER!!  Yes, the baby and BF were both believably horrified by the events that transpired--KM, not so much.  I think she tried, but it felt one note.  There wasn't any nuance, just Abby wanting revenge.

What the heck is up with Kayla?  And the actress playing Jade is quite good.  She would have made a good Ciara.

  • Love 3

I was horrified and surprised that Ben made it down the DiMera staircase without falling. Those were pretty nasty burns to his legs. I also didn't notice any smoke detectors going off or that no one noticed a burning smell in the house. Abigail, tying up Ben would be enough and then calling the cops to report that he had broken in to the home. She seemed to get a particular glee/enjoyment from setting him on fire. Yep, an eye for an eye, but what you did can be seen as pre-meditated or, with the Salem PD, you will probably get off on an insanity plea. I was also surprised that there was no public service announcement at the end regarding domestic abuse or mental health issues or anything and that what was on-screen is not a particularly good idea.

Psychic abilities don't always apply to anyone - at least not with some training on how to use them. Caroline may not be the all-seeing Salem Oracle.

Maybe Kayla's subdural hematoma will give the actress some vacation time.

  • Love 1

I'm over Show right now.  If I gave a rats ass about either character I might have gotten something from the Baby I'm Burning scenes, but it mostly seemed like a KFC  commercial gone bad.

Chad has HORRENDOUS taste in women.  And Ben goes better with barbecue.  That's all I've got.

Joey's girlfriend is perfect for him.  She's 73 bazillion times smarter than him and has even less heart than Ava did.  Can't think of a better match.

Poor Kalya - her baby boy turned out to be an evolutionary throwback.

And Kayla doesn't have a subdural hematoma.  Her head hurts because she just can't take the stupid anymore.

And man, neither can I.

I keep hearing MR was cut out of scenes for the Abby/Chad/Ben storyline. Is this true? Did MR really tape a bunch of scenes that were written and they just cut them all? If so, why? I find it weird that Jenn isn't in this story or any storyline for that matter. And, don't even get me started on Maggie being in the hospital and Marlena & Julie haven't stopped by. WTF is that? Then you have Kayla's husband almost going to jail for murder and Kayla in the hospital and Caroline/Caroyln not knowing anything about it. Seriously? Is everyone on vacation? This stuff was taped around December so I guess it's feasible that a lot of them were on Christmas vacation or it could have been the usual budget cuts. Overall, it's a horribly produced show. Thus the show shutting down for 2 months. This show needs to be fixed STAT!!!

  • Love 6

I really, really hate that good material is being wasted on not-so-good actresses. KM was doing a decent job on Friday but today, man it was bad. BF was doing a great job with his stuff - convincing Abby not to kill Ben because she needed to be a mother to Thomas, covering for her with the police and punching Ben out. KM, not so much. I did believe one tear that fell down her face or one word that came out of her mouth.

And I will throw this UO out there - not behind the Ciara story because of the actress as well. Yes, I know she is younger and green but the reality is that there are many talented actresses in the world just searching for a part who could have done so much more with this material. I don't read victim of a traumatic sexual assault, just a teen age angst story. I remember Sami's rape story from when she was a teenager and AS killed it. You felt every ounce of her pain and shame. VJ is just not projecting that.

Steve and Kayla are always good and today was no exception. Sadly, Kayla's right - the majority of stress in her life is caused by Steve and the things he does. He never means to put her in danger, it just sort of happens.

I could totally get behind her and Finn starting something - I definitely saw some sparks flying today.

I think you're right.  I thought Show tossed an awful lot at the actress right off and cut her a lot of slack, but by now she should be up and running with this and at least when it comes to the rape storyline, she's incredibly weak.  Hell, at this point I'd take generic.  Now, I detest the storyline for a million reasons, but something is way off when I'm feeling more sympathy for the PERPETRATOR than the victim.

But I don't know.....right now Show is a drag to watch.  It's one horror after another - and a set in serious need of new lighting - with little in sight except more weeping and wailing and misery.

You'd think Chuck Pratt was writing this dreck.

Jen had scenes cut last week (Friday?) in her addiction storyline, with Chad and Lucas.  The daily spoilers and recaps at NBC.com sometimes let us know what was cut.  I can't remember if this was the first time she's been cut out of an entire episode like that, but the biggest victims of the cut scenes seem to be Lucas, Adrienne, and Shawn.  If you read a spoiler about one of them lately, chances are it won't make it to air.

Almost everyone has had scenes cut over the last few months, though, including S&K today who were supposed to have flashbacks.  But their scenes were so good, I hardly missed them.  Kayla is getting to say things that I've wanted her to say for years, the conflict between them feels so earned, and SN and MBE are working their magic on it.  Here for it.

They can always recast Ciara with the beautiful Aussie, bohemian model Mimi Elashiry. And before anyone says "no" this show casted James Scott with British roots to play EJ who was born in America!

And my god look at how much this beautiful girl looks like KA from back in the day. I found this under someone's Tumblr under the Days tag and Jesus.

I just want Vivian Jovanni gone so bad. I feel the show is about to make her the Abigail-fail 2. They already are semi passing the torch how they had KM and she have scenes last Thursday. Soapgods, please, no. Not with Vivian. Get a better actress or at least a girl who can open her mouth good to project lines well and make me believe she's the daughter of a popular supercouple.

Neither was watching someone being buried alive

Oh I strongly disagree about buried alive with Carly. I watched it YouTube many moods ago and absolutely loved it. Vivian was awesome in it. Now the second round of buried aluvw sucked donkey. Higley basically copied Reilly's storyline and tried to make Vivian pay for doing that to Carly. Same thing what she did to Todd on OLTL during her run. In her head, the bad must some way somehow with the same terror they unleashed on others. Yet she misses the heart, soul and history why those stories were created in the first place and not to be bastardized.
