I was surprised both Luigi and Avi made wrong guesses for "my _____ is full of eels". I thought that that was something that either you know you know or you know you definitely don't know it.

I very confidently said, I know that! My hyperdrive!  Until Amy answered and I said, oh yeah. That.

I was trying to think of an author whose spouse we’d be expected to know and luckily all I thought of was Zelda.

Since the author himself was the response, it didn't occur to me that the wife would be known -- I assumed Alabama and WWI must be the significant part but didn't do any better than Faulkner.

Last year, as I remember, Amy did not qualify for the Masters tournament, but she was a "producer's pick" which is why she was there. I expect her to be a "producer's pick" again.

Last year Amy was first runner-up in the JIT final. This year she was eliminated in the JIT quarter final round. I would be very surprised if they made her the producer's pick for Masters again from that distance but I guess we will see.

February 25:

53% / 60% / 57%

In J I missed one in 2 Words 4 Syllables, two in Transportation, Nonfiction TV, and Something to Read, three in I.C. and four in Cities on the Lake. In DJ I missed one in Olden Language, Evolution, and World Religion, two in Possessive, three in Film Composers, and four in Fascism. Had no clue for FJ.

"What appeals to you, Ray?" "Fascism for $600…" 😄

I do not remember Robin at all; I like Ryan but I had to root for Ray, so yay.

TSes: (J had 3; DJ had 6) I only got anole.

I do. She was soccer mom who was driving her suv while on the phone with the J! people. She thought it was a funny story. I was appalled, because I know what the traffic is like in Metro Atlanta. She used to live in Marietta, a suburb of Atlanta; she must've moved intown, because they're saying she's from Atlanta.

I said Reykjavik.

I was rooting for Robin, but Ray was my second choice because he's a union man who started the champions' boycott of the ToC that was scheduled to be filmed during the WGA strike.  Poor Ryan; for a bit I thought he was the Ryan of the terrible puppy story so was rooting against him, but then I doubted myself and looked it up.

I missed three in read, so not a great first round, but other than that I was okay; I only ran lake cities, and missed two in IC, but only missed one each in the rest -- prairie schooner in words, Love Island in TV (I have zero problem missing something like that), and monorail in transportation (due to Ken's laugh, I knew North Haverbrook was a reference to something in pop culture, so looked it up -- The Simpsons).

I didn't run anything in DJ, but did pretty well; I missed two each in religion (I know, right?!) and fascism, and only missed one each in the rest -- The Fire Inside in composers, Fingal's Cave in possessive, anole in evolution, and Chapman in language.

I had no idea for FJ.

I was rooting for either Ryan or Ray, with a lean toward Ryan because I seem to remember that he was sort of struggling to make a living, and had a young son.  I like Ray too, so either one would have been on my list of winners.

I wish Ken would say what year the contestants last appeared in a game.  It might jog my memory about seeing them previously.

I was rooting for Ryan and bummed that he didn’t win. But I also like Ray very much, so I’m ok with the outcome.

I think the contestants get to say where they’re from, and some choose to have the big city announced because it’s more recognizable than the suburb. So maybe that’s what happened here.

I am nowhere near smart enough to even watch this tournament.

I feel your brain strain. While I am enjoying seeing (some of) these people play again, I will be happy when the regular games return. They say Jeopardy is exercise for the brain, but my brain fell off the treadmill a few weeks back and is currently sitting in a corner, eating Cheetos and getting flabby.

Best I could come up with London; that’s in the British Isles, right?

I was close to you - I thought either Belfast or Dublin since they are near the GMT zone. I guess London would have been a better guess, although still wrong.

I was cheering for Ray but would also have been good with Ryan winning.  I have no memory of the woman in the middle.

A suggestion for TPTB - when someone is reading the clue they do not show the words and I wish they would.

I definitely did not know it - and it escapes me today, despite having heard it.

Great Britain is technically an island (at least according to Sporcles quizzes) So, it's definitely not like you said Paris. 🤣

No, I was thinking Oceania. And trying to think of capitals of those countries.

Me too. Which is how I got to Wellington (they're part of Oceania on my Sporcles Quiz)

I'm identifying the source of my knowledge, just in case Sporcles is wrong and some of you know it.  That way I'm not to blame if I'm wrong. 😁

February 26:

67% / 57% / 61%

In J I ran Months that Start with Feb, missed one in Warriors and Play, two in TV, and three in Second Letter Y and Novel Profession. In DJ I missed one in Sold at Auction, two in Cities, Contemporaries, and Animals, and three in Poets and Alliteration.

Not a clue for FJ.
Starting to think about round foods that aren't 🥯🥯or 🍩🍩

I was rooting for Ben! but I was kinda hoping they would let Claire get that last clue so she could play in FJ. Don't remember Shane but good for him. It's always weird to hear someone you know as a teen tournament player introduced with a real grownup job.

TSes: (J had 4 + the DD; DJ had 3 + both DDs) I got attorney, hypothalamus, puffin, and sea urchins (DD).

I did get the TS of sycamore, hypothalamus, puffin, marmoset, and sea urchins.

I thought of the echidna before the sea urchin and didn't manage to sort out that confusion in time.

I did know that Mitch McDeere was the lawyer in The Firm, and I got the dozens as well.

I came in rooting for Ben but Shane absolutely deserved the win.

Poor Claire really struggled on the buzzer (and had plenty where she just didn't know, but she was pounding away at that thing a lot).  I always root for her after the horrible online bullying and harassment she endured after the Teen Tournament (she's the one who was accused, at 16 years old, of sleeping with Alex to get the answers, because of course a girl couldn't win on her own).

I had almost as bad a game as she did, ouch.

In the first round, I blew warriors entirely.  I missed three each in novels and games and two in TV (not bad since Inside Man is the only show I've seen).  I did manage to run February and Y.

I ran alliteration and cities in DJ, but missed three each in animals, auction, and contemporaries, and two each in the rest.

I capped it off by only coming up with Wilson for FJ.

Same here. I didn’t really expect anyone to “let” her in, nor would I want them to, really, but I saw how hard she was struggling on that buzzer and I felt her frustration. I wish she had done better.

Oh! I was not aware of this. And now I’m triply sad that she did not win, or at least get to play FJ. What an awful thing to endure.

February 27:

73% / 37% / 56%

Had a decent first round and an absolutely abysmal second. In J I ran "X" Marks the Brand, missed one in Pop Culture 2000 and Double Vowels, and two in the 15th Century, Greek Myth, and State the Facts. In DJ I missed one in What's the Use, three in Body Human and Songs about Buildings & Food, four in Tales of Adventure and Anagrams, and all five in British Isles Geography.

FJ was almost an instaget. Finally. I don't have to think about round foods anymore this week.

TSes: (J had 2 + the DD; DJ had 7 + 1 DD) I got Extra gum, dictionary, and Christopher Paolini.

I'm so happy Juveria won!

I ran states, vowels, and pop culture and got all but Xbox 360 in X (I knew it was Xbox, but could have sat here until I expired without coming up with a specific model) and missed two each in the rest -- even though one of those was a mythology category.  So I'll call it a good first round.

I normally kick ass in anagrams, but I missed three.  I missed another three in adventure (not my genre).  If I could swap those out, I'd have had a good DJ; I ran use and got all but Swansea in British and all but pia in body and missed two in songs.

I had no idea for FJ, though.

I finally did well in an anagram category...except it was on Celebrity Jeopardy (I watched last night's episode tonight) and it was about salad ingredients and I didn't need the anagram part of the clue to get them.

They do too many anagrams. Or maybe I just feel like there are a lot because I'm bad at them?

I read The Firm, but all the way back in the '90s. Did not remember any character names.

I've never read the book, only saw the movie, and I suspect the name was in my head only because of a podcast (probably I Hate it But I Love it) I listened to within the last year.

Oh, sure, TODAY they go echidna.

Happy to see Juveria get through -- she impressed me when she originally lost to Hannah Wilson and whenever I get a tiny bit tired of Second Chance it cheers me up to think of her success.
