I find her freakin' annoying. The way she says "the world is so crazy now" makes me think she's half-way to buying gold and canning butter. (Yes, apparently people do that, if I can believe the weird stuff that FB puts on my feed)

I agree about Kathy Lee.  She was so annoying when her kids were little and she couldn't say one sentence without mentioning Cody or Cassidy, Cody or Cassidy . . .  Ugh, I can still hear that in my head whenever I see or hear of her.  😏

On another topic, I just read that the top contenders for Golden Bachelorette are Leslie and Joan.  Apparently this comes from Faith, who supposedly has inside intel and says she is also still in the running.  Personally, I've never cared for Faith and I don't know if I can watch a season with Leslie or Joan.  That's like a choice between Debbie Downer or an ageing plastic Barbie.

I can't figure this franchise out with their picks.  I'm starting to think they just like controversy and deliberately try to annoy us.  They have so many great women to choose from and they're gonna go with either a woman who is never going to be marriage material or a woman promoting a ridiculous standard of female "beauty."  I'm so very close to being over and out with all these shows.

Could be worse…they could be considering Kathy.  (Kathy from the Golden Bachelor, not Kathe Lee….but I would boycott either)

I would be ok if it were Leslie. I liked her and she’d be a very different personality than a Theresa type.

I think Gary turned out to be such a loser/liar, and whomever becomes the GB, Leslie or not, will be able to pick from a crop of what I hope are sincere older men.

That would be the highlight of my year! I love Leslie and I've still got to get that t-shirt printed that says, "I can think whatever the fuck I want, Gary!" 😄🙌💯   She's naturally beautiful, has great wavy hair. and she's bold and funny.   Guys would go nuts over Leslie!  Also, Leslie's aerobics and weightlifting VHS tapes that I got are fantastic work outs- that 1985 Crystal Light National Aerobics Champion knows what she's doing! Go Leslie! 💃🌹

I'm not a huge Leslie fan, she was far too sure her sexy dance was going to win that talent contest, but Joan is so boring I get sleepy just thinking about her, so I'm glad it isn't her.

My worry is where in the world they're going to find a bunch of retired men who are willing to get out of the recliner for anything but golf.

Agree with all of this!

I'm almost 62 (ack!) and divorced.  Let me tell ya, dating is not the thing at this age.  Finding someone is not the fun thing it's advertised to be.

I met a nice, handsome guy recently, who asked me out for martinis at a nice steakhouse.  Fun!  But we live almost an hour apart, and I told him I always Uber.

Turns out, the place he picked was 5 minutes from his house, well over an hour for me (rainy Friday night, tons of traffic, expensive Uber).

When he told me which place to meet him at, I offered a similar suggestion in the middle.  Nope, meet me at this one, he said.  So I did.  And I didn't call him back.

Hope Leslie (if that's who it is) gets more chivalry from the men.

I'm glad that you didn't call that guy again- and you're a great catch 🙂💯! I'm 35, single and a great catch and chivalry in men my age (at least in my city) is hard to come by sometimes.  I had a guy pull the same thing with me in terms of picking a restaurant that turned out to be on the same block as his apartment. I took a crowded bus 🚌 to his neighborhood on a rainy Thursday to meet him, and he had the nerve to be 10 minutes late to the date 😏.  He paid for dinner, and I made him pay for an uber for me to go home after dinner and I deleted his number.  Some of these first dates turn out to be a waste of my time, beauty, makeup, jokes and company- a good man is hard to find, but he's out there, somewhere. He's got to be- right?! 😦😅💃🌹  I hope that Leslie gets some chivalrous men too!

I'll come home from these dates sometimes and say....well that was a waste of expensive makeup lol.

Do we know for sure it's Leslie?  If so, I'll root for her, although I, too, didn't love her sexy dance.  Cringe.

Oh, I feel the same way about the expensive makeup 😄💄!  Is this man worth my MAC lip gloss or Too Faced eyeshadow palette? No- in most cases, they're not even worth Wet n' Wild makeup 😅!  A waste of expensive makeup, a waste of a cute/flirty outfit that a date didn't deserve to see!  💃🙌.  And now men rarely even do dinner dates, they pick coffee dates 🥴.  I hate coffee dates- they're so platonic and uptight and I just know that everyone in Starbucks is eavesdropping on the conversation.  It feels like a job interview.  I honestly think I'll just show up to one of these coffee dates in a pencil skirt/blouse and a copy of my resume to mess with these uninspired, lazy date planner guys. 😉

Here's to Valentine's Day!😅🙌♥️🌹 I'm taking myself out to dinner tonight!

I actually find myself rooting for zip-it Kathy.  I'm so sick of weeping, desperation, sob stories and falling in love at the drop of a hat.  I think Kathy would be quite interesting, and I'd love to see how she'd handle the men!

In the end, though, I'll probably watch anyone but Joan.  I just can't with the frozen face and lackluster personality.  Since she keeps popping up as a bachelorette contender, I was hoping to see an update to her look at the golden wedding.  But no, not only did she still have that ridiculous mass of blonde hair, but the baby braid did me in.  I just don't get these women who think they can still look 20 when they're in their 60s.  Nor do I understand why anyone finds that attractive.

If you have an Aldi near you, keep an eye out for their eye shadow palettes. $6! I own 5.

A friend of mine was posting about her worst date ever. First date, they agreed they would meet and then he would drive them to a place to have drinks and sing karaoke. They were barely down the road when they saw the flashing lights. They had barely  had anything to drink. Turned out, he had a suspended license because of a DUI. They were going to take him in on the spot. Her car was a 1/2 hour away. Cops wouldn't drive her. The guy at least gave her some money to take a cab. When she asked why he didn't just let him drive, he said he didn't want to give her a bad impression! As if this was a good one??? And then when she got to her car, it was dead!

Hope she doesn't mind me sharing that. That was a bad date. Not as bad as the smelly (as in when was the last time he bathed) one I went on who kept chasing my face with his tongue. Ugh!

I've always preferred coffee dates for a first date with someone you don't know or barely know. That way, it's a cheap date, whether he pays for both or you go dutch, and no one can say or imply "I just paid for an expensive meal, so you at least owe me a little make-out session".

(I know personally that there are men--and likely women as well--who feel that if they pay for a nice first-date meal, the woman should at least end the evening with a kiss, if not a full on make-out session and possibly sex.)

I agree. Coffee date is very casual and no expectations. 2nd date might be lunch or a dinner-date at a pizza place.

FWIW, I met my husband on an online dating site when I was 49. We've been married for almost 14 years now. He's cooking me Valentine's Day dinner as I type!

I did kiss a few toads before I met my prince. I went out with a guy 8 or 9 times. It was time to be more physical. Oh god, the hairy back - and that wasn't the worst of it. Let's just say he had his shortcomings. I've since nicknamed him "the nub".

I hope you have a great night, ladies! (I blame the wine for my bluntness)

Not quite on topic but your waste of makeup reminded me of a curmudgeon on a financial TV program that was complaining about a bad stock market day, saying that was a waste of a clean shirt and cabfare (this was a LONG time ago)…..

Gerry visited a nursing home which was a nice thing to do. Maybe I am an old crank but I feel like when you post pictures of it and pat yourself on the back you come off as promoting yourself and it takes away from the good deed.

I don't think Kathy would be very popular with the men though. She's a particular type of woman, she's got the bitchy attitude, but without any compensating features. Like the "crazy/hot scale" from How I Met Your Mother, men will put up with a certain amount of crazy if it comes with a corresponding amount of hotness, but Kathy, while she's certainly attractive, doesn't have the persona that draws men.

Much as I enjoyed Susan, I also didn't think she'd be a man magnet, except in a friend zone type of way.

Unfortunately, I could see men falling for Joan based on looks alone, but agree that that would be a real snoozer of a season.

I guess Leslie would be a step up in the personality department, but there's something a little desperate about her. Like she's too eager to be seen as sexy and younger than she is.

And isn’t Kathy one of the older ones…I want to say 72?   That would also impact the men who apply.  They will pick someone in their early 60s imo.

Maybe to an observer, but probably not to the patients. 😇 Besides, this is the age we live in: EVERYTHING is fair game for Social Media! Now, add to that Gerry the Golden Groom who is likely still under contract to produce "content," and Katy, bar the door!

These are all good points.  I still don't see Joan's appeal, though.  Yes, she looks slim and attractive from a distance in her PR photo, but up close is a very different story.  That's also some high maintenance to live with and, at the senior stage, are men really looking for that?  If so, my guess is the relationship wouldn't last.  I think Gerry's choice of Theresa proved that at this later stage of life, it's about genuine connection.  I really hope the choice of Golden Bachelorette is someone healthy and genuine who can represent us all.

In fairness though, Joan self-eliminated so we'll never know if Gerry might have picked her in the end if she'd stayed.

I think part of Gerry's criteria (whether he would admit it or not) was for someone who had lost a spouse. That was part of the connection he had with Theresa, that shared experience of a long marriage ending in a loss and Joan had that sort as well.

But since they weren’t real people, I guess it’s a moo point after all.  It’s like a cow’s opinion. Doesn’t count.

It’s a lovely thing to do and it would’ve probably been better, image wise if, literally any one else posted it.  When you toot your own kindness horn, the kids call it a humble-brag.

I was looking for mention of this while yall were talking about the wedding ceremony, but either I missed it or it didn’t bother anybody else.  Gerry mouthing the words to her vows was getting on my last fcuking nerve.  It lowkey ruined the possibility that it could’ve been real.

Are we still doing worst dates of all time?  Blind date, set up by a friend.  He was at the restaurant already when I got there.  I called and said I couldn’t find him (he said he’d be at the bar) but he was actually hiding in plain sight at a table in the back, waiting to see what I looked like before telling me where he was.   I should’ve left then. I sit down. We’re talking and I asked him how far a drive it was for him. He said he didn’t drive. He rode his bike (bicycle).  I should’ve left then.  I said oh. He said yeah I don’t have a drivers license (I was in my late 40s at the time and so was he).  I said by choice? He said no by circumstance. I should’ve left then.  I said well, the Commonwealth of the great state of New Jersey will only take your license for one of two reasons - you’re in child support arrears or you have several DUIs, which is it?  He shrugged his shoulders but stay quiet. I left then.    Been engaged since, zero weddings, dating still kind of sucks lol

Okay

Why do you think Gerry and Theresa are divorcing?

I think that Gerry’s daughters didn’t want him moving, I got the feeling they are possessive of him. Also that Gerry likes all the attention and fame and wants to be free to date other women.

I agree.  He would probably be a hot commodity on the dating market.  I also wonder if Theresa wasn’t what he expected?  She has a very demanding job (regulatory compliance in the investment area), so she has to be tough.  I also wonder if she didn’t want to give up her job and move?

I think they got married too quickly after the show ended because they got the glamorous sponsored wedding offer. They didn’t have enough time together in the real world to get to know each other better and how compatible they really were. When it got down to it I don’t think either one wanted to uproot their life and move away from children and grandchildren. And it didn’t seem to bother Theresa but I would have had trouble getting over how Gary seemingly lied or omitted the truth about his job history and dating since his wife died. I liked him so much at the beginning of the show but by the end I didn’t like him at all. I think they’ve made a good decision.

So it was "Iron Pyrite Bachelor," after all.

I wonder if the network forced the issue, wanting another episode of G&T, this time of the honeymoon in Italy.

Don't be shocked if Gerry turns up on "DWTS"!

All of the above ring true to me.
I didn’t much care for Gerry as he is just not my type, but I did think at first he was as portrayed, a grieving widower ready to try again.

But, as Tink referenced, everything important in his story was a lie, other than he was in fact a widower. She shouldn’t have gone through with it but of course—-TV, money, some fame, paid-for wedding—and since they never lived together, not even in the same state, I don’t see how that could’ve lasted.

Holy crap! Three months. I never believe the stuff they say about how they still love each other. I bet their kids had a hand in it. Ditto about Gerry liking the attention. When the smoke cleared away, there was only Theresa there, Gerry liked being lusted after by a horde of women.

Now is the fun part! The real dish will start coming out and we will learn the down & dirty about the whole thing, from the first night to the announcement.

I think this is the quickest divorce of any Bachelor franchise marriage. They are going straight to divorce, not even a trial separation. I can't wait for the deets.

I think it is very easy to get caught  up in all the glamour and then when there you are back to normal reality, it is a let down and the truths start emerging.

I absolutely agree, but I think that’s the same for the young couples in the franchise as well. For the seniors, who don’t have decades ahead, I was hopeful this would work. Until Gerry was revealed to be a pretender, that is.

i just read an article in the NY Post online, and the only time Theresa mentioned “sad” was about having to return the ring to Neil Lane, lol.

Theresa should call up Gerry's ex from that Hollywood Reporter article and have a fun night out! Good riddance to Gerry the teary-eyed swindler!  I hoped beyond hope that Theresa would look in the mirror one day while applying her signature lipstick 💄and snap out of it and she did.

Gerry will be splaying his hands across his chest and crying on whatever news station will have him. 😭😏 Walk tall and load up the dating apps, Theresa! 🙌💯♥️
