You can get CBD infused water here.  Problem?  I down water like a maniac.

I have a CBD drink in the fridge, but have been afraid to try it. I have tried sparkling water that had some in it, last year, and I felt a little dizzy, but I didn’t drink the whole thing.  I’m not a fan of sparkling water, but I buy these magnesium drinks at times. I can’t remember what they’re called.

We’ve been a bit of the opposite this year. The past two years our families have been dealt rough hands (my brother in law lost his mom, dad and brother over the last four years. His mom passed away in March). My mother in law got really sick two Novembers ago with Heart Disease and went in for a routine procedure in April and passed away. She took all 15 of us to Disney in December. My son has had two heart surgeries and my daughter had 4 arm surgeries 2 years ago after breaking her arm twice. Blah, blah, blah. Vacations took a back seat while our boat sat snuggly in the garage never to be used.
This year we have gone to the lake almost every weekend, the beach for a few days, 2 weddings that were 8 hours away. It feels good to finally live and enjoy life albeit in the shadow of despair we are all dealing with.
My brother in law bought a boat and a place at the lake with the proceeds from his mother’s estate and has given access to all of us. My late mother in law loved the lake and would just be so happy to see us all spending time together at the lake.
It was always so easy for us these last few years to say, “we can’t do anything this summer” but when you lose those that you are closest to I think it makes it easier to say, “you know what, yes. Grandma would want us to have fun”.

It's so refreshing and lovely to hear of a family where people are generous and loving and are able to remember lost family members with fondness and happy memories and aren't bogged down with petty squabbles or, worse, legal issues.

I've tried a few times in various forms in recent years at home alone for chronic pain, but I've become such a sensitive snowflake that it either makes me horribly paranoid or knocks me out physically in an equally scary way.

Yeah, me too as far as becoming a sensitive snowflake so I've avoided it. I probably will never get over a bad experience I had in college with some brownies at a dorm party I did not know had hashish in them. I had tried pot a few times before that and didn't really like its affect on me so I would never have eaten them if I knew there was something in them especially because this was a beer keg party (back when the legal drinking age was still 18) and I was also drinking beer.

Anyway, I was hungry, the brownies were good and the guys that gave the party thought it would be great fun to see my suitemate and I get high so they didn't give us a heads up about them. Unfortunately both of us had extreme reactions to the tune of auditory and visual hallucinations, extreme paranoia and nausea/vomiting. I remember going outside and thinking I heard people calling my name! I was able to sleep it off that night but my suitemate slept for almost 24 hours straight. She was not answering her door and we were so worried about her we almost had the RA come and open it for us.

Because this was the '70s there were absolutely NO consequences for the guys even though we complained to the deans. I thought it should have been a crime but back then things were that different that no one would have taken something like that seriously.

Anyway I did have one or two much less awful experiences smoking weed after that but I decided I didn't like the way it made me feel and that was enough reason for me to stop it. Knowing how pot today is much stronger than it was 45-50 years ago and how much more sensitive to everything I am, I don't think I'd better try it now. I already avoid having much alcohol since having my gallbladder out and I really have no desire to get any kind of buzz anyway. It's just not my thing, so I'm good.

I despise the WordleBot and how it was designed. I remember one day soon after it's release where the bot had the audacity to tell me least is a better starting word than stale. It's the same 5 letters, the order does not matter when laying down your first guess.

I could not hate the WordleBot more than I already do. I scream at it at least three times a week. It's so effing condescending, even when I solve the puzzle faster than it does--which is often. If I get it in three moves and the average for everybody else is 4.8, it gives me a lower score for skill than the national average. How do you do better and score lower?

I think it's just threatened by me.

I don’t know Wordle but the fact it disrespected your choice clears up why some posts’ audibles are so jacked up.

I also hate it when the bot tells me my guess was not as "efficient" as another word. Nine times out of ten, I get it in the same number of tries with the word of my choice as the more "efficient" one. I know what the bot means by efficient--eliminates more words from the possible remaining ones, but I don't care when I get it in 3.

My biggest issue with the WordleBot is that it is bringing math into a word puzzle. The original creator designed a word puzzle where one is encouraged to throw down whatever word tickles your fancy and then strategize. You are never going to get it in one guess if your starting word is adieu or crane or slate or any of the other WordleBot picks. (Side note, I need to memorize those words the bot likes so I never open with them). The game is supposed to be whimsical, and the bot takes the whimsy away.

I don't eat sushi but love California rolls. At Wegmans they're not expensive. Do you like CA rolls? Or are they just not any good as a sometime substitute (knowing little about sushi, I guess this sounds lame 🥴)?

At a local place a California roll is $8-9 I don’t remember. Too expensive IMO. I tried frozen aldi sushi it’s not bad but it’s definitely not sushi sushi kwim lol.

Wegmans is too far I am never going there.

Also when the first word you guess has none of the letters as the answer word and the bot says, "Unfortunately, this was an unlucky guess today." And I tell it, "Hey, idiot, I got a lot of information from that 'unlucky' guess."

Amen!  I’ve gotten into the habit of doing Strands, then Connections, then using one of the Connections words as my Wordle starter. There’s almost always at least one that qualifies (5 letters with no repeats).

Of course it helps that I’m playing without an account (so I don’t get taunted by Wordlebot), and since a few months ago, I don’t even see my stats anymore, so I don’t beat myself up over how many 5s and 6s I have!

The most disturbing thing I have seen so far, and there's been a few, was that some AI apparently approved some mushrooms as safe to eat when they were poisonous.

Have no fear people, the future is here!

Yeah a lot of women have had and still do have to do that in gaming when they're playing male dominated games that go on in real time.

@shapeshifter and  @StatisticalOutlier there's a separate dryer to the left of the cabinet you see.   It's a matching set that could also be stacked, and it s a little smaller than standard size, so it is made more for apartments.  We couldn't install the dryer right next to the washer because of the gas and water and dryer vent hookups.  Having the machine in the kitchen is super convenient.

All the Americans on House Hunters International, buying in the UK: "A washer/dryer in the kitchen???? Ewwwww."

Although I did use a combo machine while in a vacation apartment in Ireland.  Damn, those take forever to complete a load.

My parents had a washer/dryer combo. like that in a closet next to their apartment kitchen for years but then the co-op board made it against the rules to have them, after my father stepped down as board president, of course! Thankfully the people that already had them were grandfathered in, or at least the board looked the other way on them.

I am still so grateful I had my washer and dryer in the kitchen when I was washing diapers for my second baby, and also that it was a ranch house with no basement. My daughter's house is a 2-story with the laundry in the basement, which makes it hard for now-feeble old me to care for the little ones at all.

If it’s not against the rules, you sure can.

Many moons ago I had an apartment in a house. Downstairs had access to the basement with a washer and dryer. I was on the second floor and had no hookups. I bought a full size washing machine and my father hooked up hoses like a portable dishwasher would have. I hooked it up to the kitchen sink when I needed to use it.

If it's allowed, why not? Anything to make life easier. My washer and dryer are in a closed pantry room between the kitchen and the garage. I have zero steps in my house. We never thought about that years ago when we bought the house but now we really appreciate it.

I remember those machines that hooked up to the faucet. I considered getting one when lived in an apartment but never did. I was younger then and trudging up and down flights of stairs with laundry wasn't as challenging as it would be now.

I had a washer that hooked up to the kitchen sink when my now-45-year-old was in cloth diapers (in 1979 paper diapers had no elastic; the sleeper foot caught the poop).
It was at least a couple of decades old when I bought it.
It had wringers like this one on ebay:
s-l1600.webp

which is listed for $300 today???
I probably paid about $20 and gave it away when I moved to an apartment with laundry facilities.

Did they have real plumbing hookups in the closet? In other words was the building constructed with them?  Some buildings decide to ban washers because they are afraid of leaks.

That portable washer is interesting @shapeshifter.  It seems like it could work well for one person.

Yes, they did. My parents paid a plumber to run a plumbing line to the closet from the kitchen. It was easy because their sink and dishwasher were just on the other side of the same wall. There was another apartment on the other side of the wall but fortunately it was their foyer and lavatory so they didn't hear the noise so much. My parents tried to be considerate and ran the machines only during the day when people were out or at work. When my husband and I would come over on weekends we'd sometimes bring laundry so as not to have to deal with the laundry room in our building.

Speaking of washers and dryers has anyone else seen the adverts for the all-in-one washer/dryer?  I'm sure they're space savers and offer efficiencies but I had machines like that when we lived in the UK and if you have a houseful of people (especially babies and teens) they're useless!  My machine was running all the time as I tried to keep up with the laundry.  For a single person or a very small family unit it might make sense but otherwise forget it!

I have always heard the combo machines were terrible.  I know they are used in Europe, but they are not popular in the US.  I hear they just don't work very well, but also if you can't start the next wash load while the last one is drying, you are wasting more time.  Of course, they are space saving and might be the only possibility for some.  Or people could use hang drying.

My sister's ritzy new condo in Canada has those. She has to hang the laundry after it's "dry."
For me, the nice thing would be no toxic, scented dryer sheets gassing outside and into to the neighbors' windows.

The combo machines ARE terrible, at least the ones I’ve used. As soon as we had a house where we could put them in a utility room and not in the kitchen I celebrated! I’ve never lived without drying racks in the house until we lived in the US.

My first encounter with a combo was when I did my study abroad (I'm not sure if it really counts - it was at my school's UK campus - a medieval castle!!!).  And yeah, you're right, they're HORRIBLE - my clothes were really damp, even after drying.  They also had separate washer/dryers for us to use.

I'm surprised your sister's condo has a combo like that.  Most condos around here (Toronto) have stacked machines.

I'm watching the Opening Ceremonies, and it's quite interesting.  We just had a door shut to shut us, the viewers, out of a menage a trois, representing Paris as the city of love.

But I missed the very beginning, so I'm a little confused about how this is all happening.  If you were there, you wouldn't be able to watch much (if anything) of the ceremony.  It seems rather spread out over the city.  And the last I saw of the parade of nations, they were only up to C -- I have no idea what happened to the boats full of athletes.  I'm thinking having all this in a stadium might be better.
