I guess it's at least in part because the show is produced by ABC's news division, and obviously all the news channels are still on the air. Joy is 77 and the advice for people over 70 in NYC is to stay home, and she probably has plenty of unused vacation days. Whoopi is 64, but all that dope smoking has been hard on her lungs (even before she got pneumonia she often coughed and sucked lozenges throughout shows) and she should stay home too. But now that Andrew Yang is out of the race, Whoopi needs to continue working to fund the lifestyles of all of her family members.
