Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

Also Lucas, who now is a renal specialist as well as a trauma and ER surgeon, thinks that people should do their own medical research. Do real doctors agree?

The good ones do. It's similar to getting a second opinion. The more a patient knows about their condition, the better they can make an informed decision about treatment.

LOL that Jordan thinks she'd stand up to Sonny if she were mayor. It's not as if she was successful doing that as police commissioner.

I feel like they are setting up a 'Kristina tries to take out Ava' story. Kristina going to the dark side seems inevitable, since nothing else has worked for the character so as long as she misses I'm okay with it.

Did anyone else get weird vibes from the Morgan/Michael photo at the end. Was that DG and would they really bring him back? (I looked away for a minute and only caught a glimpse of the picture.)

I agree. I can't help but think Kristina tries to kill Ava and due to some change in plans, Avery is with her and gets hurt too/instead.

That was indeed a photo of young adults Michael and Morgan before Morgan went bye-bye with the car bomb meant for Julian.

Were Van Hansis and Vernee Watson-Johnson reading that kidney disease stuff from cue cards? All of that sounded so stilted.

It cracked me up when Jason was listing all of the ways Sonny could get hurt in Toronto and Sonny just got more and more agitated. Finding the bomber might be a stress reducer when they find him, but it's not helping Sonny now.

Ugh, go away, Brick. You suck.

Brick's suit was ......a choice.

Looked like CD in the photo of Morgan and Michael.  Is Morgan coming back?  Is there a reason why he might have been involved in the firebomb?  I didn't watch much during that period.

The writers can't seem to decide who, if anyone, should notice that Sonny is a bad guy and respond accordingly.  We were in this space many months ago, then everyone forgot, and now we're back.  Must be interesting dynamics in the writers' room.

I agree re: the PSA belonging outside the episode, or as a fully integrated storyline.  Having the characters recite stilted dialogue helps no one.

The fact that Liz was brave enough to touch Lucky's hair makes me think it looks different in person.  Love the romance, still wishing there had been a more sensible lead up.

I think evil Drew is here to stay, which I don't really mind except the reason for his heel turn seems to be that his childhood wasn't good. Zzzz. For a guy who's desperate to be part of a family, he's doing an excellent job of making sure he never will be. Trying to uproot the family crypt is never going to endear you to the rest of the clan.

I don't think he's here to stay. There's too much discussion about how he changed after his prison stint, how there might be something in his medical file, etc. So either he has a Franco brain tumor or he was replaced by someone like Shiloh.

To me this is actually a worse direction, but given how the show loves to repeat bad ideas from the past, you're probably right. Heavy, heavy sigh.

Sonny, you do realize that you can't take a gun to Toronto, right?  Canada has laws against that.(Americans are always surprised when border officials take their guns away.) Also Jason, I'm pretty sure that the cardiologists in Toronto can handle anything that may happen to Sonny.

They always hand-wave stuff like that on this show. And it is true in general that people with private planes IRL go through the customs process a little easier. (And at least on TV, can always resort to bribery and thuggery.)

It makes you wonder if someone or a kidney foundation paid the show a ton of money to do a storyline on kidney disease, or maybe Vernee or someone else with the disease asked for it. If this doesn’t result in Vernee’s character getting kidney disease, I’ll be somewhat disappointed because they are laying it on pretty thick not to ultimately do something with it

Yesterday there were commercials during the show for a kidney medication, so I think it was Big Pharma.

Wasn't there a cross-soap thing with something like heart-healthy  tomato soup years ago?

I have nothing against discrete product placement but the last 2 episodes were so very, very awkward. It's why I hope no one is diagnosed with kidney disease. They always screw those things up.

Can Jordan tell Brick Isaiah and his family could have a puppy fight club, and it won't make her want Brick?

Seriously. Though mob lackey Brick doesn't have any moral high ground here.

I would say only nice things about GH for a week if they brought RJ Gannon on for a cameo.

Jason trying to talk Sonny out of going: "What if you have an attack and can't get your pill?"

Uh huh. What he REALLY meant was, "Listen you stupid fook, I don't want to get killed dragging your ass around Canada searching for a bomber when you can't even have an argument with a woman without dropping to the ground in agony!"

Nice to see Lucky romancing Liz. It's all we wanted, but no, we have to watch him play poker for a billion years first.

PS. Can you guys please go get your kidney disease blood/pee tests already so the poor pharamceutical company will have enough money to stop shoving this down my throat!

Jordan may want to take a few seats when bloviating to Isaiah about how she would STOP Mooby if she were mayor. I REMEMBER when she was Commissioner (of the moving eyebrows!) how she was pretty much in bed with the mob/Mooby. So check yourself and your faux outrage and “moral “ high ground that you’re any better than Laura is.

SQUEEEEE!!!!! More teenage Lucky and Elizabeth flashbacks!!!! I LOVEDLOVEDLOVED!!!!! their scenes!!!❤️🥰❤️❤️🥰🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰❤️❤️🥰🥰

I think that was with Campbell's. Suddenly a bunch of folks started talking about the "GoRed Ball" like those were words that had meaning together.  I think it was just AMC and/or OLTL that did that. But I don't remember if anything exciting happened during the actual event. There were some shenanigans about dresses or dates. Maybe David spiked the punch on AMC or was that another event. And it may have been tied to one of Viki's heart attacks? Anyway not very memorable but Campbell's footed the bill for some of it at least.

Brick looked absolutely ridiculous in that lavender suit--and the notion that he actually thought he was romancing Jordan is laughable.  I cannot believe this show is still trying to make SAS happen.

Did he take the flowers with him when he left? It is awkward to be told that someone has other plans, but that's a risk when you show up unannounced. I would have liked it if he had still given her the flowers that were obviously meant for her, instead of presumably tossing them in the trash somewhere else. I mean, they are flowers, after all, and at least it would be a reminder of your regard. Maybe I just like getting flowers, though. :-)

Molly told Kristina she missed being called "Molls" and I remembered that both Kristina and TJ called her that. So that prompted me to think, has the TJ actor left the show? I can't remember the last time Jordan, Stella or Curtis mentioned seeing/talking to him and he was not a guest at Trina's birthday party.

I think the TJ actor has been shifted to recurring but obviously hasn’t been seen in awhile

In the closing credits there is reference to it. I didn’t really read it. Basically, it was a (paid) service announcement. I think it would have been better used as announcement at the end of the show. It’s well intentioned but was so forced and a “I’m not a doctor but I play one of tv hidden commercial. No harm no foul.

I guess Kristina is gonna cut the wires on Ava’s breaks (or something to that effect) on Ava’s car but someone else will be driving it. I will say it’s such an 80’s thing. It happened all the time back in the day but now with cameras everywhere they rarely do it on the soaps. Unfortunately, we’ll have to listen to Kristina whine & cry for weeks that it’s all Ava’s fault. LOL!!!!

Can someone remind me why Portia wants to keep her romance with Isaiah a secret?  It's not like he's a mobster or something. And they're both single.  I don't get it.

Jordan is trying to get cozy with Sidwell to get information on why he's in PC. If he knew she was seeing Isaiah, that wouldn't work.

I recorded both Beyond the Gates and GH yesterday. I watched Beyond the Gates and the first 5 minutes of GH. I deleted the rest of the episode after that.

Old habits die hard. But it didn't feel like that when I deleted the episode. I didn't even care what happened. It made me sad. I've been watching GH since High School.

Jordan still had the flowers after Brick left. It's gross she doesn't shut him down completely. Hmm, maybe because he's connected to Sonny and she might need something from him in the future?

GH participated in that they had Alexis talking about the benefits of Campbell's soup as part of a heart-healthy diet.

Alexis talked about Ragú, "the working woman's friend." Maybe if they'd given that line to someone we know cooks it would have sounded a tiny bit more realistic.

I don't mind that sort of thing—there's nothing wrong with reminding people about common conditions that can become serious—but I wish they could have worked it in more naturally, like have Stella say it's a part of her regular checkup and her GP recommended the test. Oh, well.

Jordan thinks she can help take down Sidwell and has him believing (or so she thinks) that she's interested in dating him. She told Anna she knows Sidwell is interested in her. She won't be able to use the 'he's into me" angle if Sidwell knows she is dating Isaiah, the doctor who was his prisoner in Africa.

Aw HELLS NAW! What does any of this have anything to do with Lucky and Elizabeth?! Please take several seats.

I was right. Telling him they've been apart more time than they've been together and that returning to NYC could "tarnish" the memory because they're not the same people anymore. At least she acknowledged she's projecting. I liked how Lucky gently but firmly would not take in his sister's baggage.

Kristina's an idiot. In a residential parking lot, you can't assume that the car you're looking at must be that resident's. After all this time, she doesn't know Ava's car? I rarely feel sorry for Ric but now I feel sorry for him, Elizabeth and Lucky. Good job on (I assume) hurting two innocent people and in the process, blowing up your relationship with your sister and your friendship/employee relationship with Lucky, you maniac. Elizabeth and Lucky were looking forward to their weekend away; I just hope she's not seriously hurt.

I hope Alexis has Kristina institutionalized for some time.

On the lighter side, Tracy linking her purse chain to chained Emma made me LOL.

Umm, the bomber's place "in Canada" is Finn's old apartment, with a staircase added.

Lots of cliffhangers this Friday afternoon.  Felt like a soap opera old home week.

One of the things I appreciated was that each interaction cast reasonable doubt on the motives or actions of a character, when those motives or actions had previously seemed innocent, and which may remain innocent in actuality. I'm left to wonder, and this is precisely the kind of intrigue I appreciate.

There are a number of things I was taught about cars before I started driving, but finding and cutting the brake line was not among them.  People in PC must take some special high school shop class.

Good on Emma.  I'm sorry that, when we finally got a scene of her interacting with her grandmother, this was the context.

Finally, in what was perhaps the most remarkable scene of the episode----Jane Elliot went directly from a standing position to sitting cross-legged on the ground, with nary a grunt or a groan.  My Queen.

No. She cut the lines on Ric's car, assuming it was Ava's, and then Ric said to Elizabeth he would give her a ride. Kristina told Lucky she did something at Ava's and has to go back and fix it, so Lucky is going after Kristina.

Ava giving Ric a hard time, loudly, about Elizabeth because she's jealous made me roll my eyes. In Ric's place, I would have left with Elizabeth to talk about Portia/hospital, too.

Look how easy it was to write in KSt's hoarse voice!

LOL at Ava telling Kristina to stay away from her apartment windows so as not to repeat what happened before. Ava's goading was masterful. What did Kristina expect, poking the bear in her den? What an idiot.

It sounds like we might be gearing up for Monica's death.

I could not stop laughing at Sonny awkwardly slouched in a chair waving a gun at Selesky. He looked about as threatening as a toddler.

If I were rekindling feelings with an ex, I would want to make new memories in new places, especially now that we aren't teenagers, but that's me.

If Kai is such a high-profile athlete, wouldn't there be doctors wanting to operate on him for free or at low cost to increase their visibility? Kai shouldn't need Drew's sleazy offer to pay for surgery.

There's a manual you can check out of the library. It's also available to download from the SaboCar app.

Hmmm are we getting amnesia? Liz waking up thinking she and Ric are still a thing?

And who the hell cuts the brakes on a car if they aren't sure whose car it is!?!? Krissy is her father's daughter.

And I suppose Sonny was meant to look tough, sitting in wait for Silinski, but honestly, he just looked like he was too tired to stand and hold the gun

Finally, a character starts recording the wacko crypt hijinks like everyone else this decade! The councilman seems to have a weak grasp on things like serving papers to the responsible party - how dumb was that policeman giving them to a "servant" - but posting his blustering and strange fixation on tearing down a crypt might make sure he isn't re-elected.

Trina (?) had a good point about the bodies in the crypt - just tearing it down without having the bodies moved appropriately is horrible. But GH doesn't seem too concerned about real world processes as always.

Drew is a miracle worker if he can get the demolition papers sign and the bulldozer there in less than a day. if only he would be as effective with his actual job. (It's absolutely ridiculous that it happened so fast and without the Quartermaines being informed about the court date.)

Good payoff on Emma's abrasiveness and joy in bucking the system.

Finally someone is recording! What is the point of an android phone if you don't use it?

So now Maxie's apartment which became Finn's apartment is now the Canadian apartment of the hitman. At least change the walls up a bit.

That's a great point. If I were Kai, I would be running this by my doctors first before agreeing to anything.

I guess I'm slow on the uptake this week because I missed the anvil when Ava was bickering with Ric about taking her parking spot yesterday.

We're not used to subtle on this show.

Good plotting though because Ric, who is now in danger, is Molly's father. And we've just had the scene of Lucky and Liz planning their getaway. There's even some tension because unlike Sonny, Carly and their kids, something bad may actually happen to them.

How convenient for Kristina that someone left some (car prowl?) tools hanging about.  I can't find things that easily in my own garage!

I'd like to know how Kristina plans to "fix" her mistake. If it could be "solved" by calling Ava, it would have been better to call from wherever she was and using someone else's phone, since Ava wouldn't want to answer Kristina's calls.
