Sexiest Movie Moments: Was It Good For You, Too?

Sex. A small word with a big meaning, especially in the movies. It can be as subtle as the breeze blowing up Marilyn Monroe's skirt in The Seven Year Itch or as explicit as whatever Dennis Quaid's hand was doing to Ellen Barkin in The Big Easy. It can be funny, such as Meg Ryan's iconic, orgasm-faking scene in When Harry Met Sally, prompting the hilarious response, "I'll have what she's having" sweet, like Jack and Ennis' reunion in Brokeback Mountain or somewhere in between, such as the food scenes in Tom Jones or 9 1/2 Weeks.

Whether it's a quickie or something serious (no hard-core, please), post your picks for the Sexiest Movie Moments here.

The first two that come to my mind are Rocky and Adrianne's first kiss--I just melted with her :)  and the scene in Casino Royale when Vesper was sitting, fully clothed, in a running shower, shaking like a leaf because she'd just been caught in the middle of a gun fight and James stepped in, still in his tuxedo (without the jacket, top couple of buttons undone), sat down next to her and took her hand.  I think he kissed her fingers, but I'm not sure, I just remember thinking it was that was one of the sexiest scenes I'd ever seen and there was no sexual contact and no dialog at all.

It's not over from The Notebook, good one. Oh man...I remember watching the kiss from Last of the Mohicans. I watched it so much my tape almost broke. Some of my faves:

The scene from Out of Sight intercut with past and present.

Cruel Intentions-Sebastian and Annette

Miami Vice-Crockett and Isabel.

How Stella Got Her Groove Back- Stella climbs into the shower with Winston.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Vera Farmiga getting it on to "Comfortably Numb" in The Departed.  Holy sweet hell.

And while I know that people are going to question my sanity for this one -- but John Belushi sniffing Blair Brown's hair and leaning over to kiss her neck in Continental Divide.  He was hot in that movie!  Shut up!  Also the part where they start making out in her bed after he gets attacked by that mountain lion.

That is one of the most memorable moments in the movie for me. I don't even know why since it's not like they had the most electric chemistry ever. I think it's the way Scorsese shot it and the music; it was quite sensual. It's not that I find DiCaprio ugly, but his sex scenes aren't usually known for being good. That one was well done though.

I thought that Leo and Kate Winslet's love scene in Titanic was very sexy, especially the part when Rose's hand smeared the fogged-up window, showing just how hot-and-heavy things were between her and Jack.

Well, I'm at work right now, so I will not be searching YouTube for videos to bolster my claims just yet (I'll do it when I get home!). However, all of the moments between Diane Lane and Olivier Martinez in Unfaithful are just scorching hot.

There are also a number of moments between Nia Long and Larenz Tate in love jones that I like. There's the obvious moment when they sleep together on the first date, but I love them dancing together on one of their later dates, after they've come home. That one I can show. :) http://youtu.be/FGq5ou6UWjE?t=8m40s

[Aside: How does one embed a YouTube video in her post?]

Both sex scenes w Viggo Mortenson and Mario Bello in A History of Violence.

Either one works. When they 69 in the bedroom and she's in the cheerleader uniform, or the angry sex on the stairwell. Either one will get you there.

When I was a teenager, Salma Hayek's entrance into From Dusk Till Dawn was just about the sexiest thing I ever thought I'd see. It's a shame that Tarantino's ugly mug was involved. I've not seen it for a long time, but I wonder if I would now think 'seedy' rather than 'sexy'.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Out Of Sight yet. I thought that movie was considered one of the sexiest around.

Francesca 007 mentioned it several posts ago.

Speaking of 007, the scene in Skyfall when Silva flirtatiously interrogates James Bond and says "There's a first time for everything" and Bond says "What makes you think this is my first time?" was sexy, but in a twisted way.

On the other hand, there was nothing twisted about the sexiness of Bond and Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale.

I'll add my "for sure" to:   I'm glad The Big Easy was mentioned in the first post.  Ellen Barkin and Dennis Quaid were something else.  I too love Rocky and Adrienne's first kiss...Stallone was sexy.  Dirty Dancing is just so smooth; Patrick Swayze was all sorts of wow and Baby's reactions were my reactions.

I'll add a few weird ones:  Matt Damon and Franke Potente in The Borne Identity.  When he's cutting her hair in that hotel room, it's so quiet and vulnerable.  And then, she kisses him...whew, boy.

It's subtle, as it was a PG 13 movie, but I loved the chemistry between Parminder Nagra and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in Bend It Like Beckham.  Every conversation was so close to him just kissing her.

Bronte would have maybe freaked out, but the "pleading her into sin" bedroom scene between Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska in Jane Erye was damn hot.  Actually, all the pivotal Jane/Rochester scenes were hot in their proper way (the water pitcher on the fire scene; the asking for her pay scene before she goes home; the proposal).  Michael Fassbender is the heat, y'all.

The fight scene and chemistry throughout between Mako and Raleigh from Pacific Rim. Considering it is an action flick and Idris Elba is one of the stars, I'm surprised how much they captured my attention.

Since Leo DiCaprio has already been brought up, I nominate Leo and Claire Danes in Romeo + Juliet.  I was about 15/16 when that movie came out and it got me.  Their chemistry was so instant that even my jaded teenage self ("I mean seriously, 2 kids in love kill, like, a town of people") fell into it from the moment they see each other through the aquarium.

Old school mention:  The Long Hot Summer with Newman and Woodward.  They sizzle.  That balcony scene makes me swoon.

This is no lie. He is so intense. I was holding my breath during this entire scene:

I must be weird, but I still remember the sex scene from Enemy at the Gates. Jude Law and Rachel Weisz, making silent love among sleeping soldiers. She comes to him, slips under the blanket and they have sex, removing only the necessary clothing items (bacause it's Russia! and it's cold!).

This scene really made an impact when i was younger.

Speaking of Ms Weisz, let's not forget her lovely scene with Tom Hiddleston in The Deep Blue Sea.

Also, as crazy as the film might have been, the opening scene of The Counselor, with Fassbender and Cruz in bed and talking dirty? Hot.

I was peeking through my fingers as I looked at that scene because I seriously thought Michael Fassbender was going to kill her.

Ohmigosh....I loved that scene. They had a lot of chemistry just in thier body language and eye contact through that whole movie.

More adds:

Nicole Beharie and Michael Fassbender in Shame

Colin Ferrell and Gong Li in Miami Vice

I loved Mako and Raleigh in Pacific Rim too. del Toro actually shot the fight scene as if were a love scene which is why it is so intense!

@TrininisaScorp you and I have some similar taste for chemistry scenes. I will always love the kiss at the end of like Bend It Like Beckham. It's the nose kiss thing.

Really? That would explain it. It was very intense.

Jill Scott and Idris Elba in Number One Ladies Detective. They were adversaries but thier chemistry was crackling. It was even more evident in the live performance of her song Rolling Hills.

Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet in Labor Day

Really? To me it seemed like Marie was really into Jason, but he was just going along for the ride. I thought his real feelings for her developed later.

In Love and Basketball, the scene where Quincy and Monica are playing basketball in his dorm room was total foreplay.

The trunk scene and the bar scene in Out of Sight.

The fight scene/love scene in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Though it was wrong because he was married at the time, the sexual chemistry between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie was off the charts.

Jill Scott and Idris Elba in Number One Ladies Detective

That wasn't a movie, it was an HBO miniseries.

On the movie front, the phone scene with James Stewart and Donna Reed in It's A Wonderful Life was full of chemistry, whether it was when they first put their heads together, the way they looked at each other or when George grabbed Mary and claimed that he didn't want to get married before he gave in and kissed her anyway, with their wedding soon to follow.

The Graduate: Elaine visits Benjamin at night and asks him to kiss her. He's topless and kisses her lips and her face while he crosses his arms over her shoulders. He quietly asks her to marry him again. That is still the only time I ever found Dustin Hoffman remotely sexy.

The kiss scene in Brødre (original Danish version of Brothers). Neilsen really impressed me with that film; I haven't really see her English TV work though.

I have to say that there is something about James McAvoy that when he kisses his co-star, he actually makes her hotter as a result of it. He's really underrated as a romantic lead.

Yes, that fight scene was memorable, but I thought throughout the movie that their chemistry was off the charts.  I'm thinking of their dance scene together, for example.  And at the end, when they were sitting together talking to the marriage counselor, and he says the lovemaking is a "10" and he holds up his fingers, I said to myself right then, "poor Jen."  So I wasn't surprised at all when they hooked up for real, although I'm surprised that they're still together.  I have to confess that I like Brangelina though.

Yeah, Brad Pitt's whispered "10" with the held up fingers was great. Especially in contrast to the 1st marriage counselor scene, when they were asked about their sex life, and they said "I don't understand the question."

I think the "You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve?" scene between Bogie and Bacall in To Have and Have Not is probably the sexiest moment in all of cinema, although everyone keeps their clothes on.

Since we're talking about old movies, there's a scene in It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed on the telephone, talking to her blabbermouth boyfriend.  The way she and Jimmy Stewart look at each other longingly while the boyfriend yammers on just gets me every time.  They finally can't take it anymore and they kiss at the end.  Also, the mother's horror at the end is hilarious.

Oh, totally agree.  And Lauren Bacall was, and still is, breathtakingly beautiful.  This is the scene you're talking about.  It was her first film, and she was only 19 years old.

The love scene in Loving Annabelle... I went looking for a clip but it's a) a bit more graphic than I care to share and b) technically a sex scene between a teenager and her (female) teacher, so maybe y'all just decide for yourselves if you wanna youtube that.

That whole walking home from the dance scene is pretty hot -- culminating in her naked in the hydrangea bush and him debating whether to give her the robe back.

Someone on this forum turned me on to the movie Waitress with Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion. There's a scene where SPOILER ALERT (kinda) Keri is sitting in Nathan's lap and facing him while they talk and kiss. It's not a sex scene at all, but it's very romantic and intimate. A great movie overall
