Wonder if Amy was peeved that Maddie got the point shot at the end and she didn't.

I hope so! 😉

After finally watching the episode, I absolutely love Meredith.  The way so many came charging at her when she ran out to the field makes me think she's a locker room favorite.  Go Meredith (and Brennan!!)!!!

It came out after the lawsuit...$400 per game, $12 an hour (up from $8) and the appearances are $100 per year as a DCC. Former came from articles I read a couple months back on the Dallas Morning News and ESPN, maybe, and I think the appearance fee info came from Shelly?

Well then I guess, like Erica or not, whatever her motives actually were, good for her. I don’t see the girls protesting getting more money now, but we all know certain people condemned Erica and said that this isn’t about money... maybe then the current team should be giving the “extra” money to charity since this isn’t about money and asking for a fair pay is disgusting and all.

Maddie ain’t going anywhere, unless her injury prevents her from re-auditioning. I actually hope Tess retires even if Maddie stays-no idea how Tess ended up in the triangle and Heather was shoved further back. She’s too tall and stiff for her spot.

Interesting. So if the 37th DCC doesn’t take the field, she’ll probably receive only the appearance pay and not the game pay, I’m thinking. That would keep the budget and pay scale closer to the pre-Erica lawsuit rates. Pretty crafty of Charlotte.

In my experience, anyone who is an alternate or a swing in a dance group or musical need to be very skilled as Allstars were since they need to adapt to any role or position.  Unfortunately i believe Meredith and Lilly will always have difficulty fitting into a spot that is no there usual one.  As Kelli would say, they are a dance risk.

My guess is they will keep the strugglers where they are, but will instead move the more experienced/SG-level squad member(s) around to fill the vacant spot.

Reveal video shot @ The Star

Finally watched it. It's a little confusing as to why some of them get more airtime than others. And why not give them all something of a closeup? I did find it interesting that Kat was put with Jalyn - two of the most striking women on the team.

Well, I can now say that I have watched this season twice...the first and the last time. All in all, just a big disappointment. I had to write myself a note to remember to even watch the finale.

I was very happy to see Lily make the team. Kristen too. Two comeback girls who I think really deserved it.

Thanks to all the commenters here who made this whole mess worth watching. You kept me laughing at least.

Regarding the nepotism with VK and (possibly) Meredith, the problem is there are no consequences for putting a few unqualified dancers on the field for personal reasons.  DCC is only competing against themselves.  If the Cowboys trot out Jerry Jones's son instead of Dak Prescott at QB on Sunday, it's going to be a major problem.  Businesses are competing with one another for profit, Broadway shows are competing for positive reviews, even high school and college cheer teams have national competitions.  That's not to say nepotism doesn't exist in those fields, but there is a lot more risk involved when putting individual ahead of the team.  Once the squad is announced, they dance as a sideshow to the football game and make appearances where they are virtually guaranteed to be a hit due to the nature of the appearances.  There are still little girls out there who will dream of becoming a DCC someday as long as the Cowboys exist.  Keeping Meredith on the squad or putting VK on show group isn't going to change that, so Kelli has nothing to lose by doing so.  She has the potential to upset the Jones family or her friend TK by excluding them.  It's frustrating for us who get caught up in the drama of the show, but in reality it's an easy decision to make.

Edit: I should clarify that I don't mean to imply that VK was unqualified this year.  She absolutely deserved to be on the team this year, unlike last year when she had no business being in training camp.

This makes a lot of sense to me. I do still think it's a disservice to a legacy because it creates unnecessary questioning of their abilities. VK was completely qualified this year and worked hard to get there over the last year, but by forcing her (and her mother) on us, there's a big group of us that dislikes her. But you're right - Kelli and company don't care. VK is family and this is a family operation from Jerry Jones on down. They will never run out of women who want to try out, so they can just chalk up the criticism to 'haters gonna hate'

Agreed.  I'm very curious what the pecking order looks like for appearances, too, and how those bookings are handled.  There are probably some gorgeous DCC who look amazing on the field that rarely get booked for appearances because they don't have the right fit of personality for a grocery store opening, parade, etc.  Or because of cost.  If they get $100 per year as a DCC, that means Amy is $500 for an appearance, or you can snag Kat for $100.  Amy is a skilled dance teacher with her own studio, but she might not be the best fit for a new Market Street opening.  And those with full time jobs obviously aren't as available.

They do SO MANY appearances at so many different things!  I don't think a lot of the people commenting on Facebook, etc. realize how small the actual game day portion of the job is versus the other things they do.

Regarding Erica's lawsuit, it was my understanding that her major complaint was not being fully compensated for her total work hours.  IE., she worked eight hours but was only paid for six.  She wanted to get the unpaid time, though of course the more interesting publicity is about the small salary...and thankfully that publicity helped contribute to higher pay.  IIRC, the DCC are much better off than most since they're paid for rehearsal time.  I can't believe they all aren't, to be honest...seems like the labor laws would apply since they aren't truly volunteers like some of the smaller arena teams.

For the length of the video each girl shudda had a close up, we dont need all that filler. They all deserve to b recognized individually.

Rewatching the squad reveal.  Did anyone notice that when Phil rolled out the uniforms his title was listed as "Stadium Ambassador"? Wonder what that entails and when he was "promoted" from "Security"?  That would also explain the "new" security guard we see escorting the ladies earlier in the show.

I’m not sure when it started but I noticed Phil was introduced as stadium ambassador in the audition episodes. I know he also gives stadium tours and helped curate the stadium art collection. The cheerleaders have their own security detail when at the stadium and at appearances.  The other guy, Robert, is part of that security team.

Thx.  I wondered about that.  If I were the girls I wouldn't want to be walking around alone either inside or outside the stadium.  Especially on game days/nights....creepy fans....

I read somewhere that Phil retired, but he's a such a fan favorite that they gave him a title to appear on the show.

Were there 10 rookies left?  I think that's what they were talking about.

Did anyone else think it was convenient that someone else was not going to dance the first game?

(raises hand) I thought that was verrrrry convenient timing.  This whole "Idea" from Charlotte to have 37 and sit a girl blah blah blah seemed very interesting considering Meredith was one of the girls on the verge of possibly being cut.  (like Lily last year on the last day).  This just adds more fuel to the fire that somehow Meredith knows the Jones family.

I have watched EVERY season and to me this season seemed super staged to me.  Maybe its the new production but it was certainly not my favorite season to watch and I think adding "37" was a total cop out.

Huge thanks to the mods, the insiders, and the posters this year. I spent way more time than I should have on this board. 😂

I’m so over Kelli and the dragging cuts out for drama reality tv bs. Meredeath could have pulled down the whole kick line or danced the wrong routine and she was still on the team. Lily got dragged into the drama and I felt bad for her.

Amy, you are not “point”. You’re co-point at best. So glad she’s finally gone after this year.

ICAM I never saw the appeal with her.  I was on the DCC web site and now that the season is over they have everyone's PR shots and bio and there a few girls who still just don't seem to have that DCC look:  Amy, Maddie, Brennan, and Cici.  When you think back to some of the past DCC its surprising to be especially the two "points" this year.

Whew.

Super late on watching the season finale, but I'm using the fact that this has been a rather lackluster season (at least IMO 😉). Announcement was awkward, but I to have to say that I am incredibly happy for ALL 10 of the rookies this season and would like to thank everyone on this board for making this go-around watchable haha.

Don't have much to say except that

  • Chandi is cute and is right up there with Kelcey as ROTY potential in my opinion. Though Amanda is growing on me.
  • I'll probably never get used to seeing Victoria in a uniform, but what's happened has happened.
  • Go Jalyn!
  • Go Brennan!
  • Hannah is a great dancer and ambassador, and is only getting better in my opinion.
  • It seems that next year's triangle will rely solely on what Maddie's decision is regarding any retirement plans. I haven't seen enough of Tess to know if she would ever be point or if she even wants it. I doubt Amy and, though it really does pain me to say it, I don't know if Heather has another year in her (would any insiders know what Heather's plans are). And for whatever reason, #GinaForPoint just doesn't seem to be happening. Was this year's triangle preparing us for Lexie as point? 😑
  • Maybe Caroline, Hannah or Bridget can fill a void if Maddie leaves???? Would love Jayln, but let's get real for some asinine reason K&J don't seem to like her.

In conclusion, I hope S15 is a great one. Because it very well could be my last.

I have to agree on the look except for Brennan. I do think she has the look. Cici I do want to like but I think she is way out of shape in the middle and big part of her appeal is the whole Hawaii hula mess. Brennan kind of has perfect body and is gorgeous in person. Cici looks like she has drag level contouring in person.

no need to go into the WTF with both amy and maddie.

Also if they’re grooming Lexi for point do something’s about that raggedy rode hard put up wet hair. Makes her look like white trash.

OK, bear with me because I just watched 7 episodes back to back and that’s a lot to process. Also tells you a lot about how underwhelmed I was with the first few episodes, normally I rush to download them any which way I can (UK fan over here!) but this season... just haven’t felt it.
Anyway.

Jalyn. Girl, you’re a rockstar. That’s all.
Glad to see Hannah and Bridget given some praise, love those two.

Rookies.

Let’s face it, VK probably had the boots the second she stepped through the door at auditions.
Chandi is adorable.
Amanda grew on me massively. Kat I went back and forth on... but she grew on me too.
Meredith... I don’t know. She was given so many chances and so many excuses made for her, but her teammates seem to see something in her. Be interesting to see if she’s a one and done.
Glad they didn’t break Lily’s heart again. And glad Kristin made it too.
I would have liked to have seen a little more of the other ladies.

I thought Kelli came across as rude in some office visits, particularly with Shaina and Madeline S. I appreciate she’s been doing this a long time and doesn’t want to draw out any cuts, but some visits were particularly spiky.

Next year: more dancing, less contrived situations (no nail salons or spas thanks) more group leader chat, and Bridget for point 👍🏻

Sorry for the long post, I didn’t know I had so many thoughts about the last few episodes 😂

I have to watch Caroline more closely. Never noticed how powerful or great she is... I see it a lot more with Gina, Bridget and Heather. Maybe because they are shown more often I overlook Caroline. Sure she is great because so many people love her. I know she performs well but I never notice that extra sass I see of the other three when they are dancing.

I think Brennan has one of the best shapes on the team.

Here's my perspective on last episode and team:

Was happy they took 10 rookies...mainly because cutting one on last night of training camp is so not necessary. If this wasn't a reality show, I'm sure they would never stoop to such emotional torture. (*My whole conflict with show is that I'm glad it's on TV so I get to peer into this crazy world, but feel badly so much is edited and dragged out to make for the show's drama.)

I like Meredith and have secretly rooted for her since the beginning. As a former ballet dancer, I know the struggle of being thrown into something you think you can do (ballet dancers can be snobs and a bit elitist in the dance world) only to find out it's way harder than expected! I suspect Meredith is very sweet but thought she would never struggle like she did because it's for a "cheerleader gig". Anyway, hope she can continue improving....

The "reveal' was OK, but I felt a bit for the other 8 rookies, as it seemed to be more about: "hey, we didn't cut Lily or Meredith". But, everyone seemed ok with it, so I guess it was fine. (with all the heavy editing, who knows how it really went down.) Loved Phil bringing out the uniforms...I don't think I have ever seen that.

I liked Victoria in this episode, as she seemed natural and unscripted (her A+++ing was cute and very true of a 19 year old) Good to see Kelli give her a correction about missing her mark, especially when the entire row missed it, and only she was called out for it. I liked Kelli in this episode too...it was the Kelli I've liked from past seasons- no hidden agendas, biting feedback, unprofessional cuts, bringing in guest choreographers, etc....and she and Judy running to the locker rooms was so funny! CMT needs to focus on the backstories of all the dancers - rookies & veterans, and what Kelli and Judy do besides what is shown. It's like CMT doesn't know what an interesting cast of characters they already have! Plus bring in more previous cheerleaders...Kashara, Nicole B. etc

I still don't get 'point'....neither girl can hold their own compared to quite a few. I know being a veteran is important for the triangle - and I agree - but I think once you are a 3 year veteran....you should be considered. It should have been Heather as point with Gina and *Maddie. (*only because she was in triangle last year...they rarely 'demote' dancers) I would then put Amy in Heather's spot and put Tess behind Heather. It's the perfect spot for a tall dancer who deserves a good spot but is not quite triangle material...Tess is all that.

Would like to see more of Hannah, barely saw any of her this year. I hope she, Caroline, Jaylyn, Amber, and Gina come back. (all of these would make a great 'point' : BEAUTY, TALENT,  BODY.  Rachel W has really grown on me, and I have always like Rachel A...she has a great figure and has a nice, modern look to her. Quite a few of them (EX: Lexie) have a very dated look to them...I think sometimes the styling of cheerleaders seems to be locked in a time capsule. I admit, I am not crazy about the look of Cici, Maddie, Amy, and feel the most underrated cheerleader award goes to Erin. She is the full package.

Congrats to all 37....it will be interesting to see if there is a season 15.
