  1. If EBR wants to have a legitimate movie career, then she's smart to get small roles in good movies with good actors during her hiatuses from shooting Arrow. That way she can build up her resume and credentials.
  2. EBR has the supporting role of Patty McGuire in an upcoming new film, Brooklyn, slated for a 2015 release. Brooklyn is a film directed by John Crowley and with a script written by Nick Hornby, based on the novel of the same name by Colm Tóibín. Currently in post-production, it's either an Irish romantic comedy or a historical romantic drama, depending on the source. Plot: During the 1950s, a young Irish immigrant, Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan), moves from a small town in Ireland to Brooklyn, New York, where she has the opportunity for work, for a future and for love, in the form of Italian-American Tony (Emory Cohen). When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself absorbed into her old community, with Jim (Domhnall Gleeson) courting her. As she repeatedly postpones her return to America, Eilis finds herself confronting a choice between two men and two countries. The cast also includes Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters. I don't know how the role of Patty McGuire has been written for the movie, but here's her introduction in the book: http://books.google.com/books?id=3-_H26ZJbNQC&pg=PA57&dq=brooklyn+by+colm+T%C3%B3ib%C3%ADn+patty+mcguire&hl=en&sa=X&ei=_nMIVKzbLYicygT1sYDgDA&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=brooklyn%20by%20colm%20T%C3%B3ib%C3%ADn%20patty%20mcguire&f=false ‘Arrow’ Star Emily Bett Rickards Joins Saoirse Ronan in ‘Brooklyn’ March 14, 2014 | Posted By Linda Ge In Casting http://upandcomers.net/2014/03/14/arrow-star-emily-bett-rickards-joins-saoirse-ronan-brooklyn/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2381111/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_2 http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/saoirse-ronan-star-brooklyn-692518
  3. Sorry, I didn't realize the Z Nation news had already been reported and discussed in another thread...
  4. This is more S5 spoiler free speculation, but I didn't see a thread for that.... I came across this headline about the Syfy Channel making a six-hour miniseries of Arthur C. Clarke's book, Childhood's End, and couldn't help wondering if next season's Falling Skies was going to take any 'inspiration' from that book - like maybe the Volm become the 'benevolent' Overlords. I never read the Clarke book, but read the book descriptions below: Syfy picks up Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End as six-hour miniseries http://www.blastr.com/2014-9-3/syfy-picks-arthur-c-clarkes-childhoods-end-six-hour-miniseries Also, Clarke's Overlords resemble large bipeds with leathery wings, horns and tails, and, after their arrival, human children evolve and start to display telekinetic powers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Childhood's_End Here's the Syfy Channel press release: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/09/03/syfy-greenlights-six-hour-miniseries-arthur-c-clarkes-childhoods-end/299094/
  5. In DC TV news... DC Entertainment Actively Pitching A Supergirl TV Series, With Michael Green? Posted on September 3, 2014 by Rich Johnston http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/09/03/dc-comics-actively-pitching-a-supergirl-tv-series-with-michael-green/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

  7. 'The Walking Dead' star Andrew Lincoln warns 'brutal is the word for this season' By Dalton Ross on Sep 3, 2014 at 9:00AM @DaltonRoss http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/09/03/the-walking-dead-andrew-lincoln-rick-season-5-brutal/
  8. I am also dubious about Warner Bros.' plans for the DC superheroes. Even though the Marvel movies were all connected to the same universe, they still worked well as independent films because the tone of each movie was adapted to the particular superhero involved and that hero's personality and origin story. Each director was also different and seemed to be given free rein to make his own vision of the movie (subject to the obligatory tie-ins to the larger universe). So we got the sheer tech geek joy and hero redemption of Iron Man, the mythological grandeur and Biblical Cain-Abel theme of Thor, and the old-fashioned good versus evil, war action of Captain America. (I haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet.) Then the beauty of The Avengers - despite its flaws - is how well Joss Whedon managed to weave all of these disparate superheroes into one balanced movie and make it believable that they would all inhabit the same universe.
  9. Without Diggle and Felicity, Oliver would have died long ago - either he would have been killed by others or he would have gone so dark into himself that he might have killed himself. After five horrible, nightmarish years away under that kind of torture, stress and pain, you just don't recover quickly or on your own if you're hiding yourself from everybody and not letting anyone in. Having Team Arrow to share your burden and your pain to some extent probably saved him. Other stuff I wanted to say about Team Arrow has already been said beautifully by others both here and in the Team Arrow: The Power of Three thread.
  10. Sean Bean was fantastic in this episode. You can really see his internal struggles on his face. Crystal (Ali Larter) continues to annoy - it must be the way she says her lines.
  11. I think the winner should've been picked by the two guest judges, but maybe they didn't want to ruffle any feathers among industry peers. I would've ranked the final work with Glenn first, Ve second and Neville third.
  12. Teaser & Promo Pics For DOCTOR WHO Ep 8.03: "Robot Of Sherwood" By Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy - 9/1/2014 http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/notyetamovie/news/?a=106910
  13. I was thinking more along the lines of their parents knowing each other and Snow's parents being let in on Elsa's secret. Or maybe Elsa, Anna and Snow played together as children, and Snow is a nickname, not her real name, given to her after some incident involving Elsa.
  14. My favorite character is now Hunter - but that's only because he hasn't had enough screen time yet to say or do anything incredibly stupid. I liked Barbie in the beginning, esp. before he began his 'epic love affair' with Julia. Given enough time under the Dome, I'm sure I'll dislike Hunter as much as I dislike some of the other characters.

  16. I heard this show described on a TV entertainment news show as "The Big Bang Theory solves crimes".
  17. I only started reading this thread recently, but has anyone posted the speculation that the Frozen storyline on OUAT might be tied to how Snow White got her name?
  18. EBR starred as Fourty in Season 2 of a Canadian TV series called Soldiers of the Apocalypse (S.O.T.A.) about a secret military force who fights to protect the world from its impending end. - Episode 2.1 Back to Square One (2013) ... Fourty - Episode 2.2 Sink the EightBall (2013) ... Fourty - Episode 2.3 ... Fourty - Episode 2.4 A Soldier Defined (2013) ... Fourty - Episode 2.5 Hitting Home (2013) ... Fourty - Episode 2.6 ... Fourty - Episode 2.7 Brother Down (2013) ... Fourty - Episode 2.8 They Come Back to Haunt Us (2013) ... Fourty I couldn't find any video of EBR in this role, but here are links to some images of her as Fourty: http://blugyrrl.tumblr.com/post/86710649408/sarahsassafras13-aliyah-obrien-doubles-and http://www.pinterest.com/pin/448319337878483766/ http://emilybettrickardsfan.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lasthits&cat=26&pid=2300#top_display_media EBR must've been filming Arrow at around the same time. I wonder if she already had this blonde ponytail hairstyle for S.O.T.A. when she went in to audition for Arrow and, since her Felicity role was supposed to be a one-shot deal, they just stuck a pair of glasses on her - and now it's her iconic Felicity look. EBR playing a young soldier (and I really wish I could see video) reminds me of another Canadian actress, Jessica Steen, who many years ago played Jennifer Chase, code named Pilot, in that old children's TV series, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. Pilot was a very young soldier who wore her blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail.
  19. I remember that season 1 of Revolution had the same criticism because Charlie's hair was always so clean and shiny like a Breck commercial. Then in season 2 they made her hair look more grungy. In Falling Skies, the environment is even dirtier and grittier than in Revolution and yet the characters' hair all look clean and nicely styled - this includes both women and men. Remember, Pope has long hair. And Tom must have hair gel because his short hair sticks straight up in a way that doesn't look quite natural.

  21. Nice little summary of what we know so far... All Of The Confirmed DC Heroes And Villains In Arrow And The Flash This Season by Nick Tylwalk 1d ago http://bamsmackpow.com/2014/08/31/all-of-the-confirmed-dc-heroes-and-villains-in-arrow-and-the-flash-this-season/
  22. Here's my reaction to this episode: "Make it stop! Make it stop!" New town motto: Chester's Mill - Where You Can Get Away With Murder! Other town's motto: Zenith - The Height of Stupidity Apparition of dead person appears: Shades of Lost and Buffy Barbie and Melanie are half-siblings: More shades of Lost (remember Jack and Claire?)
  23. It's pretty clear that they're spreading the stars around the kids and making sure no kid feels bad during the run of this show, so it's a rather loose "competition". I like all of the kids, although - maybe I'm too cynical - I'm skeptical of Gibson's bullying victim back story.
  24. So according to SA, Oliver is 30 now. For some reason, I thought he was around 29. I guess that means he was 23 when he left on the boat and 28 when he returned to Starling City. He must've just graduated from college and been on summer vacation when he left. Wonder what his career plans were then. I guess that speculation belongs in another thread.
  25. I'm not sure I like any of these models. I hate the drama and watching the interactions between the models. I only like to watch the actual modeling shoots and final photos. Wow, that model house is certainly a shrine to Tyra's narcissism. Tyra's manipulation of the results is so obvious. She always gives her score last. If the other judges score a model she likes too low, then she gives a really high score. If the other judges score a model she doesn't like too high, then she gives a really low score. There is rarely consistency in scoring among the judges. I also wouldn't be surprised if Tyra picked the final photos to manipulate the results as well. Even though she says "this is your best photo", how do we know she didn't pick a bad photo for the model she wants to send home? I noticed that Romeo had the lowest fan vote score with 4.7, while all other models had fan vote scores of over 5. I wonder if he noticed.
