  1. Lexi didn't clap her hands just before she crashed the ship. My recollection is that she clasped her hands together on her breast like in prayer. (I think she also closed her eyes but I'm not sure.)
  2. New NSFW trailer for Katie Cassidy and Eliza Dushku's The Scribbler Trent Moore Friday, August 29, 2014 - 2:54pm http://www.blastr.com/2014-8-29/new-nsfw-trailer-katie-cassidy-and-eliza-dushkus-scribbler
  3. I hope it's not a setup for a love triangle.
  4. I came across these EW recaps and kinda liked their subtle bits of sarcasm: 'Falling Skies' finale recap part I: The daddy-daughter dance http://community.ew.com/2014/08/31/falling-skies-finale-pt1-recap-season-4/ 'Falling Skies' finale recap, part 2: Moon or bust http://community.ew.com/2014/08/31/falling-skies-finale-recap-part-2-moon-or-bust/ Just needed to add: - Well, that lottery was a total waste of time. - Again the Volm reveal necessary info late in the game (I defied Daddy and stayed to help). - I like snarky Hal better than morose Hal (his Lourdes comment to Lexi was just snap). - That dreamscape sequence with Tom seemed to go on forever. - Was Falling Skies this Tom-centric before Noah Wyle became a producer on the show? - Why, oh why, did the 2nd Mass stay in Chinatown like sitting ducks when they know the location is known to the Espheni? They should've left as soon as the beamer launched, or at least moved a short distance away if they wanted to wait for Tom to return. - The 2nd Mass is further decimated but miraculously all three Mason sons and Mason love interests survive. - Looks like Hal is going to take over for Tom, in Tom's absence, with his ending rah-rah speech, because Hal is a Mason and Weaver is not. - Weaver should just've died because he has no real role on the show anymore. He's not the leader of the 2nd Mass anymore and anything he says or does could just as easily be said or done by one of the Masons. I do have to give Falling Skies credit for bucking the current trend of TV shows killing off major characters. Instead, this show is following the old formula of having the main cast members survive all kinds of deadly dangers, while extras get killed left and right, no matter how unrealistic it would be in real life. Lexi's death (if she is indeed dead and won't rise like Dark Phoenix) doesn't count because she really wasn't a Mason and was doomed from the start to be a one-season plot device. (If she had survived, she'd be a pretty potent weapon and could defeat the remaining Espheni on Earth in 1-2 episodes, leaving nothing much for the Masons to do next season.) Checking off this week's use of sci-fi tropes: * Alien creatures with tentacles attach to human beings like parasites and render them immobile (Aliens)? Check. * Hero finds himself communicating with avatar-like important person in dreamscape (Harry Potter)? Check. * Heroic redemption by making suicidal run straight into enemy target (Independence Day)? Check. * Friendly ship swoops in at last minute, shooting guns at enemy ships and saving the day (Star Wars, BSG)? Check * Hero expecting to die instead wakes up on bed in fantasy dimension and sees alien being (AI, Farscape)? Check. Anyone notice Noah Wyle in The Librarians promo that interrupted these episodes? I remember that trilogy of Librarian made-for-TV movies. I guess TNT is giving him year-round employment. Seeing that Librarians promo made me think of the saying "nature abhors a vacuum". In the TV-verse, as soon as one show leaves, something similar takes its place. Syfy Channel cancelled Warehouse 13. But now TNT is debuting The Librarians.
  5. I previously posted this article link in the Spoilers thread (before this thread existed) because it mentions Season 3, but there isn't really anything too spoilerish in it. On the other hand, the article contains some great insights about Malcolm Merlyn by John Barrowman, so I think it should be included in this thread: Interview: John Barrowman Mentors Season 3 of ‘Arrow’ Posted by: Kyle Wilson 26 days ago http://nerdrepository.com/interview-john-barrowman-mentors-season-3-arrow/
  6. wonderwall posted a video from Fan Expo in the Public Appearances thread, in which SA says something about O/F's feelings "or lack thereof". I wonder if SA was just playing with fans or if there's the possibility that after the kiss, Felicity realizes that she doesn't love Oliver in that way? I seem to recall that there was some question about whether Liam Neeson's comment about being willing to play Ra’s al Ghul again "in a heartbeat" applied to TV or just to the movies. This article makes it clear that he was asked specifically about Arrow: Liam Neeson Would Play Ra’s al Ghul On ‘Arrow’ ‘In A Heartbeat’ by alex zalben 8/29/2014 http://www.mtv.com/news/1916608/liam-neeson-ras-al-ghul-arrow/
  7. I'd bet that Felicity's mother is a natural blonde, that Felicity's father was (or is) a brunette, and that Felicity's a natural brunette. Dying her hair even darker could be a rebellion against her mother and wanting to be as different from her mother as possible. Then becoming a bottle blonde could be a reaction to whatever happened at MIT and a subsequent reconciliation with her mother. Regarding Cupid, it's interesting that they're bringing an AK creation to the show... doesn't bode well for Black Canary. As for whether or not the EPs are introducing too many new characters and trying to do too much in Season 3, I don't think so. They have to fill 23 episodes.
  8. At first, I was turned off by the return of the Daleks - I'm kinda over "Exterminate! Exterminate!". I just thought they were really trying to sell Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor by bringing in the Daleks - usually a fan favorite - this early on in his tenure. But then I got into the story with the miniaturized squad entering the Dalek and ended up kinda liking this episode overall. I also liked PC as the Doctor better in this episode. It made me realize why I wasn't crazy about him in the first episode - it was his acting. I realize that PC is supposed to be a good actor, but in the beginning, when the Doctor was all amnesiac and strange, it just seemed like a serious actor doing a bad impersonation of a quirky Doctor. I just didn't buy it. But in this episode, PC seems more settled into his new skin as the Doctor so I found him more believable, although when he gets too quirky, it still seems out of character. I also still don't see any companion chemistry between PC as the Doctor and Clara. I thought there was more chemistry between John Hurt's War Doctor and Clara in that one scene between just the two of them. As soon as we found out the new teacher in Clara's school used to be a soldier, I suspected that he was the supposedly dead brother of the female rebel soldier. When the mysterious Missy saved that female soldier, I was more certain that Missy had also saved the brother, messed with his memores, and planted him in Clara's school as Danny Pink. At some point, there could be a reunion between brother and sister - and I speculate that the sister, Journey, will become the Doctor's new companion, while Clara decides to spend more time with the brother and less time traveling about with the Doctor. It's time for Clara to go anyway - she used to be a really interesting mysterious character but now she's just mundane. She should be using her knowledge of all the Doctors and their adventures in some fashion. What is Missy's purpose? Who is she? That's likely a season-long story arc. I'm taking a wild guess and speculate that it's tied to the Doctor's freezing Gallifrey in a moment in time, Maybe she's another Time Lord who escaped the freezing, and her "Heaven" is actually her TARDIS? That's how she was able to save people - in the same way that the Doctor saved Journey. Another question: why are there still Daleks? I thought that the War Doctor's original use of the destruction device killed all Time Lords and all Daleks thus ending the war (which assumes that all Daleks were attacking Gallifrey at that time) and that the Doctors' do-over just froze Gallifrey (saving the Time Lords) which made it disappear and caused all the Daleks to shoot each other. So why are there still Daleks around - unless there's some Dalek-making home planet, or unless this rebellion takes place in an earlier time? P.S. When the Doctor gave his "into darkness" reply, I immediately thought of Star Trek.

  13. A yellow dress has to be the right shade of yellow for the wearer's skin tone, it has to be designed right, and, yes, an additional color helps. Remember Jeffrey Sebelia's yellow plaid couture gown? I found a picture of it here: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20741505_20233140_20526832,00.html
  14. If that is MIT Felicity in the video, then I'm a bit disappointed that they've gone with the familiar Goth look for the computer geek girl. I mean, there's Abby on NCIS and Chloe on 24, just to name two examples. It would've been more original if Felicity had this normal, girl-next-door look that screamed National Honor Society but was this computer hacker. (Hair that black has to be dyed, and Felicity's roots are brown.) But I guess the EPs are going for something major that happens at MIT that completely changes or forces Felicity to completely change her appearance.
  15. I didn't really like any of the unconventional wedding designs. Korina and Amanda can both go quickly, as far as I'm concerned. I'm also skeptical about how Amanda kept telling Fade about mean things said by Korina and Char, but I didn't actually hear them say these things (specifically, the "phony" comment and the "Amanda's wins were robbing others" comment). Korina has little imagination and Amanda keeps making the same type of dress silhouette. If Korina can't step out of her box, then she shouldn't be in this competition where every week is a different challenge. I think Char's dress was worse than Sandhaya's dress (though both were terrible), so between the two of them, the right designer was eliminated. As for the yellow color, Char needed to speak up and then she just seemed to give up. Regarding Sean and Kini, I didn't care for either of their outfits. I thought Sean's outfit was boring, and Kini keeps making the same kind of fitted black outfit with variations. As to who deserved to win between the two of them, I don't think Kini was completely robbed if Sean designed the blouse and Kini just sewed it together. This competition is primarily a design challenge, although the judges also consider how well the designs are executed. If one person designs a winning outfit and another person sews it or helps sew part of it, who should win? For example, what if Sean had helped sew the skirt/side bustle part of Kini's outfit? I think that when PR has two-person team challenges, both team members should win or both team members should be eliminated - there should not be a single winner or loser.

  19. TV is a steady gig, with a regular paycheck and mostly in one location. And maybe Sean Bean liked the challenge of playing different roles in one show. I noticed that his British accent and demeanor as the arms dealer Dante was different from his accent and demeanor as Martin.
  20. I have to admit that I'm a sucker for the hands-cupped-around-the-face type kiss. And Oliver doesn't do it in a grabby way, but in a careful way that implies tenderness for Felicity. More thoughts on the "business partners" comment. Look, I don't know what they mean. But if it is a real business, then Laurel could have a small inheritance from a grandparent. Or the amounts she and Oliver each invest could be small amounts, along with a third partner who invests a larger amount - say, in a boxing gym with, say, Ted Grant.
  21. I don't remember if this was included in the previous reporting on the new digital comics, but I'm too aggravated to go back through this thread and check. In the new issue of TV Guide (with Scott Bakula on the cover), there's a short blurb on the new digital comics for Arrow: Season 2.5 and The Flash: Season Zero, which states: Aargh! Doesn't this contradict what the EPs said before about the comics not being essential to TV viewers?
