  1. Arrow is his #1... Five Returning Shows to Watch This Fall By Chris King on Sep 15, 2014 http://www.tvovermind.com/lists/five-returning-shows-watch-fall-240379
  2. The easy fix is just to have Laurel go live with her mother. That way, they can always bring her back if they want.
  3. I think it's a double standard thing. It's like polygamy - it's almost always a man with multiple 'sister' wives, and not a woman with multiple husbands. It's the perception that a woman is more willing than a man to share the same sex/romance partner. So Oliver had sex with both Sara and Laurel, but both girls end up being okay with it (Laurel gives Sara relationship advice, Sara figuratively hands Oliver back to Laurel). But Diggle had qualms about sleeping with his brother's widow and ultimately broke up with her. Oliver was icked out after discovering he had had sex with his father's mistress, Isabel. I always thought that Laurel's initial problem with Sara and Oliver hooking up was less about love and more about pride, competitiveness and her fantasy future. When Laurel and Oliver broke up after Tommy's death, it was due to guilt over his death and not because of Oliver's hook-up with Sara.
  4. I don't know if I'll actually be able to watch all of these shows, but here's my list.... New Shows - Agent Carter, Constantine, The Flash, Forever (for Ioan Gruffudd), Gotham, Gracepoint (for David Tennant), Stalker (for Maggie Q) Returning shows - Agents of SHIELD, Arrow, Castle, Doctor Who, Elementary, Hawaii Five-0, Once Upon A Time, Orphan Black, Person of Interest, Sleepy Hollow, The Voice, The Walking Dead If I had the channels, but I don't, so I can't watch - Game of Thrones, Outlander
  5. I don't know if I can sit through another hour of watching this stupidity and yelling at the TV screen. Ben's sudden re-appearance (and with speaking lines) was strange. It's like, yes, there's another minority still living under the Dome. Even the Dome rejected Julia as a sacrifice. Speaking of Julia... Did Julia ever love her husband? It sure didn't seem like it. When she was packing stuff and looked at the picture of her husband, and Barbie says "you can take that" (gee, generous of you, Barbie, considering you killed her husband), Julia decides to leave the picture behind and dismisses her dead husband by saying "that's my past life". Rebecca sees a big (fake looking) strand of Melanie's hair is coming out of her head and, yet, when we see Melanie recovered, her hair all looks fine - no bald spots. Isn't it strange that no one mentioned that Sam was the one responsible for Angie not being there when they were assembling all 7 hands on deck to save Melanie. It's like the show forgot he's a cold-blooded axe murderer. And ick, on Sam reaching out his hand to help Rebecca up from the stairs. He's a murderer, Rebecca! Is Sam the only doctor in town? Wasn't he hiding out in the woods when the show started? Where's the regular town doctor? Pauline's visions are one of the most contrived plot devices I've ever seen. Whenever the characters need to know or do something, there's a convenient vision to show them the way (for example, the red door portal). Even when it's inconsistent with the show's own "logic" (can I say that without laughing?). The egg leaves the Dome and Pauline's visions stop. Oh wait, they need one more vision to do the whole hands-on Melanie thing, so Pauline has one more vision even though the egg is still outside the Dome. The song "Turn" playing at the end made no sense to me. Does the Dome have to go through all four seasons? Oh, I know why the people didn't wear heavy overcoats when it was so cold and why the "winter" lasted so short. We have to be able to see the actors' fit bodies - biceps on the tee-shirt wearing men and the figures on the women.
  6. Maybe that's what Andrew Kreisberg meant when he compared Laurel to Lois Lane (add sarcasm) - Sara is Chloe and Laurel is Lois.
  7. Velocity23, thanks for the deleted scene and EBR interview link. That liveblog was really hilarious (although I think Arrow is a better show than this blogger thinks). If "she" refers to Laurel, then this line sums up the problem with If "she" refers to Thea, then it makes no sense except to showcase her immaturity. I just don't remember that scene. Some of the funniest blog lines: The line at 3:53 reminded me that Diggle used to have this thing for his brother's wife, now widow, but felt uncomfortable hooking up with her because... you know, brother's wife. But yet, the show has no discomfort with Oliver hooking up with two sisters.
  8. The "saving the world" quote reminded me of Buffy's tombstone epitaph (after she died to save her sister) - "She saved the world... a lot". However, Buffy was a true hero. Laurel is just Laurel. The "saving the world" quote was, I think, a way to explain Laurel's motivation to become a vigilante and future Black Canary. Probably, at some point, being a DA isn't going to be enough.
  9. I'm about fed up with this show. Even though I'm happy Romeo is gone, I don't think I can sit through another episode of Tyra manipulating the results. There is no way that Lenox deserved a 1. There have been worse models than her in the past that Tyra has scored a 5 or 6. Even Adam was worse than Lenox and he didn't get a 1. Tyra was just punishing Lenox for being unwilling or unable to act and pose like a porn star. To me, Tyra's lessons on how to be sexy were more borderline porn star than fashion model sexy - just my opinion. In fact, in a past season, wasn't there a model that Tyra constantly criticized for modeling too sexy? It's clear that Tyra has her favorites and those she wants to send home. At judging panel, the runway stilt-walk/posing wasn't even considered in the scoring. Ben won the runway but didn't really win anything, did he? I'd bet that if Keith, Will, Raelia or Mirjana had done poorly in the sexy spider commercial and really good in the stilt-walking runway, then Tyra would have critiqued both sessions in scoring the models. I will be surprised if Keith doesn't win at the end of this season. The pairings for the spider commercial were obviously rigged. Just more of Tyra's manipulation.
  10. I was disappointed that Beach Cruisers were eliminated because I liked their healthy approach to food and their attempt to price reasonably. Now we're left with three food trucks who all make heavy cholesterol, meaty foods. I am completely turned off of Lone Star's price gouging the customers. I hope karma bites them next week. Maybe it was the editing, but Tyler seemed to help Let There Be Bacon more than any of the other food trucks. He not only gave them tips but also actively helped them prepare their food.
  11. At this point, my favorites are Luis on Team Rachael and Sean on Team Guy. I actually thought the show was trying not to have Sean win again by having Guy assign him octopus to cook - very difficult to do well. I hate to criticize kids, but my least favorites on any team are Gibson and Helen.
  12. Warning! Contains some Arrow spoilers you should already know if you've been reading the Spoilers thread.... 13. Oliver Jumps From A Plane In These Exclusive ‘Arrow: Season 2.5′ Pages by alex zalben 9/12/2014 http://www.mtv.com/news/1929393/oliver-jumps-from-a-plane-in-these-exclusive-arrow-season-2-5-pages/?utm=share_twitter Synopsis of Chapter 2:
  14. EXCLUSIVE: Z Nation creator on The Walking Dead and why 'We had to earn our right to exist.' Kathie Huddleston Friday, September 12, 2014 - 4:28pm http://www.blastr.com/2014-9-12/exclusive-z-nation-creator-walking-dead-and-why-we-had-earn-our-right-exist
  15. I thought that this episode was the best one for Peter Capaldi's portrayal of the Doctor so far (in contrast to the silly, amnesiac old Doctor or petty bickering, alpha-competitive Doctor of past episodes) because he acted with a lot more conviction. However, the episode itself had many flaws. There were genuine spooky moments and the overall tone of the episode was one of gripping suspense (except for the date scenes). Some of the lines seemed over the top, both in content and acting. It's like the writer got carried away with the prose and forgot how real people talk. I think the show was trying too hard to create another iconic episode (like the Weeping Angels or the Silence episodes mentioned by others) and fell short. The Doctor's original premise was flawed. There is no such thing as a perfect predator or a perfect defense (certainly not the creatures in those pictures); therefore, there should be no such thing as a perfect hiding creature. Another big problem was why would the Doctor focus now, out of all his long life/lives, on his fears of the creature in the dark? There should've been some kind of trigger. I also don't understand the Gallifrey visit either. Unless it's only Gallifrey of the present and future that's locked, and you can still visit Gallifrey of the past. So Clara was the thing under the bed that the Doctor was afraid of as a child? Does that mean the shadow thing that everyone fears (including the thing under the blanket in Rupert's room) doesn't really exist, or was created out of a person's fears and imagination, or was a traveling Time Lord or companion? As others have noted above, the new Doctor is really being written and portrayed as weak as a human being with a lot of human foibles - nothing special. (P.S. Captain Jack Harkness is currently masquerading as human Malcolm Merlyn on Arrow.)
  16. Regarding the all yellow dress, I came across this example of a bright yellow dress that works... Emma Stone in Versace (yellow gown) http://www.gofugyourself.com/well-played-emma-stone-in-versace-04-2014
  17. This is interesting.... TV vs. Movie Superheroes: Which Format Works Better? By Paul on Sep 12, 2014 http://www.tvovermind.com/tv-news/tv-vs-movie-superheroes-format-works-better-240291 For anyone who has Netflix... Catching Up With Daredevil Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight By Meredith Alloway September 12, 2014 | 10:49am http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2014/09/catching-up-with-daredevil-showrunner-steven-s-dek.html
  18. Thanks. That actually looks like EBR.
  19. I think people were building off of some comment by an EP(?) that what happens in Season 3 is something that was two years in the making. This is true. The Oliver and Felicity romance was two years in the making - not that the EPs planned their romance from Season 1, but that their relationship developed organically over the past two years from strangers to allies to friends to now maybe more than friends. I think it was clear in the beginning of Season 1 that the EPs were going for an Oliver and Laurel endgame. But stuff changed and now that's been shelved for the time being. I don't think, however, that the EPs are currently planning an Oliver and anyone endgame. They have their plans for Season 3, but I think everything else is still open as far as Oliver's romantic life is concerned. I really don't think they've given up on Oliver and Laurel, but I don't think they've committed to it or anything else either. I think the EPs are now optimistic that the show will run at least five seasons and so they have plenty of time to make that decision later on. Just my opinion.
  20. Re Top 3 - I would have been happy with either a Kini or Sean win, but I would've given Sean the edge since it's an avant garde challenge. Kini's design was striking on the runway and very well executed. It did remind me, however, of the designs of both Christian Siriano (black, fitted silhouettes) and Leanne Marshall (inverted pleated skirts, though hers were in soft pastels). Also, Kini needs to step outside his all-black dresses box. Sean's design was the most original and a huge risk. I've never seen any designer on Project Runway ever do this kind of interactive design before, where the dress changed color on its own by interacting with the elements. The dress itself was nicely done as well. I thought Sandhya's dress should not have been in the top three. It was a joke with pinwheels. I give her credit for being original, however. Re Bottom 3 - Fade's design was too simple; it's like he couldn't step away from his usual designs of graphic dresses to do something avant garde. However, it was a cute dress. Emily's design looked like a costume from a bad sci-fi movie. It's ironic that she thought it was original. Korina's dress was both badly designed and badly made. With immunity, it's like she didn't even try that hard. Re Safe - Amanda's design and Alexander's design could've easily been in the bottom 3 as well. Amanda's was ridiculous looking and poorly executed (that hanging "eye"). Tim Gunn saved her by pointing out the 'vagina eye'. Alexander's looked like an ugly shower curtain. However, I agree that Char's design belonged in the middle of the pack. I think that no design is 100% original. Every design is similar in some way to something that's been done before.
  21. Regarding the ownership of Verdant - there was a scene last season where Isabel came to the club and evicted Thea as manager and told Thea that Verdant was a corporate asset of Queen Consolidated. It's possible that with Isabel's death, QC is in disarray and its stock is plummeting, which prompts Ray Palmer to step in as a white knight and acquire QC. As part of QC's restructuring, he could sell off some of its 'unnecessary' corporate assets, including Verdant. Or QC could go into bankruptcy, whereby Ray buys the major corporate assets and some of the secondary assets, like Verdant, are sold cheaply like in a sheriff's sale type situation.
  22. This is a really uninspiring cast of "stars". Coupled with the new judge, JHough, I think I'm done with this show. I'll be watching The Voice with its new judges, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell. Or better yet, I'll watch the combo of Gotham and Sleepy Hollow. All airing on Monday night.
  23. Greg Berlanti is really spreading himself thin... I wonder if he'll really have that much time for Arrow. CBS Nabs Drama From Greg Berlanti & Seth Grahame-Smith Based On Stephen King Story As Put Pilot by Nellie Andreeva September 9, 2014 12:23pm http://deadline.com/2014/09/the-things-they-left-behind-stephen-king-cbs-series-greg-berlanti-seth-grahame-smith-831937/
