  1. My favorite scene in the movie. It's so fun. The Lindy Hop scene in Hellzapoppin is phenominal:
  2. The end of Isadora about the life of dancer Isadora Duncan played by Vanessa Redgrave. A very effective reminder to NEVER wear a long scarf when riding in a convertible! It's not just the image but Redgrave's scream, which is horrific (shudder).
  3. Originally in the dress rehearsal Jon Hamm was supposed to play Dean Martin but they changed it at the last minute. One of my favorite sketches the VH1's Storytellers parody with Will Ferrell as Neil Diamond. "I wrote this next song after I killed a drifter to get an erection. (sings) 'Forever in blue jeans...'"
  4. I shed a tear when Mako and Bolin's grandma showed them the picture of them and their parents when they were little and Mako giving her his father's scarf. I like this show and I liked Batman Beyond even though I recognize the earlier series were better and whenever they do a reference to them it's always great.
  5. I love that the basement dweller was voiced by Jon Heder aka Napoleon Dynamite!
  6. Jenny talks about her on-air gaffe, her firing and her recovery and getting back her self-esteem to perform again: https://gma.yahoo.com/jenny-slate-opens-being-fired-saturday-night-live-062233798--abc-news-celebrities.html
  7. In honor of the late Eli Wallach, this scene of him as Tuco from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: [yt] [/yt]
  8. Did not know about Jon's son's problems with gluten allergies. Glad he's doing better.
  9. I really wish it had been her sister Olivia cast in the part. Not only is she a better actress(I had no idea she was British after years of watching her as Kevin's sister on The Wonder Years) but if you've ever seen Conan the Destroyer she can be sexy AND naive.
  10. "Jack Bauer send his regards....!"
  11. I don't see Padme as a "Lady MacBeth" type enabling Anakin. Also having Darth Vader being a woman's fault is already more problematic. I believe she thought she could change him but it was either too late or he was too far gone. I see Luke having a lot of his mother's qualities especially in ROTJ. In the end the Jedi were going to fall and the Republic was going to turn into the Republic whether Anakin was involved or not. Palpatine had it all planned out and he's my favorite character in the prequels.
  12. I remember first seeing waaaay back on The New Leave It To Beaver on TBS as the kid dating Wally's daughter!
  13. I genuinely cried when int the theater when Order 66 scene happened and all the Jedi were killed and I genuinely cried when Obi-Wan said to Anakin at the end "You were my brother Anakin, I loved you." and it was because of the reasons you mentioned. I think the story was not going to be exciting to a lot of fans because they knew how it was going to turn out. They knew the Jedi were going to die, that Anakin was going to betray them and the Emperor was going to come to power.
  14. Yeah it was always the backstory of how Vader got messed up. That's why he was horribley burned and scarred over most of his body. How did you think it happened Danny? That's part of the reason he didn't do the backstory in 1978 was because the technology wasn't available to do it. He limited the story and environments of the OT for what was then possible, but even then he was pushing the envelope. Now that he had the CGI tools, why should he have limited himself again? "Damn Lucas for having a giant imagination and coming up with new things! Also damn him for him bringing re-using old things!" Practically most of what JK Rowling, JRR Tolkien and George RR Martin wrote required a lot of CGI effects to realize their worlds onscreen. Yes they went to locations and built sets but if you look at the behind-the-scenes footage there was greenscreen more than half the time. Also most of the creatures(dragons, house elves, etc). Life of Pi shot in front of a greenscreen and used CGI animals. Like the other it gets a pass because it came from a book. If it was original(like Star Wars) it wouldn't gotten trashed as just being about special effects Anyway there was a other Star Wars news since my last post. Harrison Ford having his leg broken and not being able to filming for eight weeks and them reshuffling the shooting schedule. It was supposedly broken by the hydraulic door off the Millennium Falcon(so at least we know they're using practical sets this time)
  15. The bit with Jimmy and Kevin Hart on the rollercoaster was hilarious and I loved the "Dance Avenue" sketch. I think that was Jimmy and the Roots singing that 80s dance song that's take off of "Let it Whip".
  16. Asgard may have been too garish I like Branagh's depiction of the Frost Giants as guys in makeup instead of CGI and I think he got the character of Thor, Loki and Odin perfectly.
  17. Aidy Bryant was on Seth Meyers a week ago and she talked about the slumber party sketch where she played a girl who was hot for the dad played by Drake. She said it was inspired by the Monday pitch meeting with the new host and writers and she was immediately like (body quivering) "Oh my god, this is what a MAN is!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bivD098Qpu8
  18. Now that I know they cut out Jaime confessing to Tyrion I think I get the reason for the rape scene. Without it and just watching him this entire season you'd think Jaime Lannister's the best guy in the world!
  19. His Benedick in Much Ado is my favorite performance ever of his. "NO! The world must be peopled!"
  20. I think most people agree Brokeback got robbed and that Crash is overrated.
  21. Mark Hamill had been in a car accident that damaged his face just before Star Wars came out. He later asked George Lucas what would have done if he had died and Lucas said he would have had to kill off Luke Skywalker and found someone else for the sequel. He could have hired the kid in these WW episodes to replace him!
  22. Laurence Fishburne talked about the movie when he was on Inside the Actor's Studio. He said he was intimidated by Shakespeare and not sure if he could pull it off until he talked to a couple of people like Roscoe Lee Browne who encouraged him.
  23. The world of a Mel Brooks movie(Blazing Saddles, History of the World Part One) or the Zucker brothers (Airplane! The Naked Gun)
  24. Love that interview. There are rumors about Chris O'Dowd being in the Avengers sequel which I hope are true.
  25. I'm not a big Shakespeare scholar or expert but I have seen a whole lot of movies based on his plays, from Romeo and Juliet(Zafarelli and Lurhman) to various versions of Richard III, MacBeth, Hamlet, Henry V, The Taming of the Shrew, etc. The latest movie I've seen is Much Ado About Nothing directed by Joss Whedon. Recently I listened to an audiobook of Henry VI with David Tennant in the title role. I'm familiar with most of Shakespeare's historical plays except for this one because there aren't any movies made from it. I think it would be interesting though Joan of Arc(being the enemy French army) is portrayed as a villain whose visions came from demons instead of God! The only thing I would find annoying is the character of Talbot, who is a total Mary Sue. Okay we get it Shakespeare, this guy is the most awesome example of English manliness ever(eyeroll), too bad nobody today has ever heard of him while everybody remembers Joan as a saint. That's one attempt at character assassination that didn't stick.
