  1. That was always my favorite part of Return of the King book. It's a very romantic chapter too. I didn't think Tolkien could write a love story like that. I get because the way the book was structured it was impossible to do it justice in the movies, but still disappointing. My problem with Peter Jackson's version(even though I do like the movies) is that he's not very subtle in certain parts. Like Theoden being under some kind of spell is so obvious in the movie that you can't believe Eowyn or anybody would have not realized it.
  2. It's funny that in the Modern Masters series of interviews with comic creators, John Byrne, the artist on the classic "Dark Phoenix Saga" and "Days of Future Past" said while most of the casting in the X-Men movies was off the mark (he thought Hugh Jackman was "too pretty" compared to comic book Wolverine, which is true) he thought the only one who came closest to his version of Storm was Halle Berry! It's telling because he said he left the book because he and writer Chris Claremont had different ideas of who the characters were. I can definitely see it now because while Byrne pictured Storm as a Halle Berry-type, it's clear from the way he wrote her that Claremont thought of Storm as like an Angela Bassett!
  3. Gingerbread does have one of my favorite Cordelia moments, when she finds Giles knocked unconscious again:
  4. Speaking of speaking of Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, the screentests have just surfaced. Even without the accent he used in the movie(which I now realize he was copying the little boy who plays young Forrest) he's very effective. Also looking at it Robin Wright is sooooo great in it as well. Also Haley Joel Osment was adorable:
  5. I remember the "Cordelia funeral" fakeout in "Lover's Walk" fooling me completely and at first shocked because by that point news of the Angel spinoff and that she would be on it. I liked Amends the first time but now that it's clear after watching Angel: The Series that Angel and Angelus are two separate people and not just "Angel on a bad day" I think Angel shouldn't feel guilty over things he did without a soul.
  6. Another fave of mine, Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet in Spaceballs.
  7. I have a whole bunch of favorites but these are ones off the top of my head: Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger. Loved her through all of the movie but specifically this scene: Sam Rockwell as Guy in Galaxy Quest. Specifically this scene: Salvatore Corsitto as Bonasera in the opening of The Godfather:
  8. Shout out to all the creators from Bill Mantlo(Rocket) to Steve Englehart(Star-Lord) Jim Starlin(Thanos, Gamora, Drax) to Jack Kirby(Groot, Ronan, the Celestials) and Steve Gerber( ).
  9. I suddenly realized that Felicity's first appearance in S1E3 is like this clip from The Big Sleep with Humphrey Bogart as private eye Phillip Marlowe and Dorothy Malone, only appearing in one scene as the hottest bookstore clerk ever: Felicity wasn't as overtly flirtatious as Malone when she met Ollie and she didn't take off her glasses yet but she still left viewers going "Who was that?"
  10. It's also the cosmic movie DC fans hoped Green Lantern would be!
  11. I love when comic book movies and TV shows reference the source materials. I found out that Bereet, the The hot red skinned one night stand of Peter's in the beginning of the movie is from the comics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bereet
  12. Okay, then they have to cast a total nerd as Felicity's dad. I'm hoping for Robert Carradine.
  13. Ted Grant/Wildcat being cast as younger probably means he's going to be a love interest for Laurel.
  14. I like how they make Gorbachev seem menacing. That's so hilarious now.
  15. "You're so cool. You're like Burt Reynolds!" Snyder trying to put the moves on Joyce and her not having it still makes me laugh. I really liked how ASH and the other adults did a great job acting like teenagers. I remember "Revelations" distinctly because I had just seen a sneak showing of the first trailer for Star Wars Episode One earlier that day in the theater. I paid just to see that and then had to sit through The Siege after. thought Gwendolyn Post was hot and I agree the glove looked really cool. I really liked Faith when she went bad later that season and afterwards was seeking redemption on Angel.
  16. For those who stuck around the post credits stinger(I was spoiled when I saw the leaked footage a few days ago but still stayed to see it in the theater) AICN has the answer to who did the voice of . http://www.aintitcool.com/node/68240
  17. I've always loved this song and kids are going to know it(along with a bunch of other songs) because of this movie:

  19. It's one of my favorite episodes and holy crap was she hot in that episode. Also unlike other women's hair and outfits in the 80s her look isn't dated.
  20. Yvonne at Zach Levi's Nerd HQ show at SDCC:
  21. I can understand where Xander is coming from but yelling at Buffy in front of strangers wasn't helping. Plus fans couldn't forget that he deliberately didn't tell Buffy about Willow's curse in "Becoming Part II"(I'm glad the show didn't either!) I didn't expect Giles to go to the party because 1) he's not a social guy and 2)to outsiders he's still just the school librarian so it would be weird for him to show up there. Buffy's birthday party in "Surprise" was a private one at the Bronze. Giles was right when he said Buffy's party in DMP should be a more intimate affair but the others insisted to make it a bigger thing.
  22. I feel Felicity was loved by many(including myself) when she first appeared because she epitomized the type of girl that's always underappreciated(and a lot of female fans can related to that) but now she's too appreciated in the world of the show with everybody from Ollie to Quentin Lance thinking she's terrific. It's like what happened to Pam on The Office. People identified her in the beginning but once she finally got Jim it was like "Ugh she sucks!"
  23. I did think watching last week "Uh oh, she might be shady." But I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt because I don't want Toph's daughter to be evil(and after defending her in the boards, I hate being wrong. Dammit). Now though I think something is up with her. Good news is Lin might be right all along. When I saw the bomb, I went "Oh shit!" I knew they weren't going to be killed off but it was still a shock. Other thoughts: Korra should let her hair down more.
