  1. Like a love triangle? Blech. Castro was such a stereotypical villain, I'm amazed she wasn't rubbing her hands in glee. I like Iggy, but that had me rolling my eyes. They barely have time for the 4 kids they have, now he wants another? I don't remember his partner's name, is he a stay-at-home dad?
  2. I enjoyed this. Smulders is convincing as the lead and I like the supporting cast. Whatever happened to the vintage car she stole? The owner was a moron, but he seemed like someone you wouldn't want to double cross.
  3. When Max returned home and the house was silent, I knew Georgia was gone. I wish the actress luck, because they did nothing with her character so I won’t miss her. They could have gotten rid of Bloom, too. She’s just annoying. I have a feeling they’re going to have her and Reynolds hook up. No thanks. Castro is gunning for Helen’s job, I bet. Awful woman. But very glad Helen made it.
  4. Amy Sedaris will always have a special place in my heart for Strangers with Candy so I was hoping she would win. That or Drunk History. I can’t remember the last time SNL made me laugh.
  5. I distinctly remember hearing a very similar joke on Family Guy, said by her character, no less. It came off funny on the show, but it just came off as crass tonight. Damn, these skits are awful. Who wrote this crap?
  6. That green satin mess was not a good look. And it looked just as bad from the back.
  7. Yeah, she looks great, but double sided tape can only do so much. I thought I saw a nipple. Brittany Snow looks good, and so far, one of the only people whose dress is fitting them properly.
  8. What's with the flattened boob affect on these dresses? I've seen three of those so far. Not my favorite dress of Laverne's but still not bad. I wish that shoulder flower accent would go away, it never looks good.
  9. I'm disappointed in Ander Holm's exit. He's a solid actor and quite funny. But it doesn't sound like it was really Holm's decision, going off of his Instagram page. I'm thinking that they jumped at the chance to have Mark Paul Gosselaar when Pitch was officially canceled. I thought he was much older than Tika Sumpter, but the difference is only 5-6 years.
  10. Not bad, but entirely unnecessary. Like Independence Day (another failed reboot with a Hemsworth) the lack of Will Smith was obvious. Thompson and Hemsworth clearly have a great rapport, but there's no edge to their banter. The international theme isn't a bad idea, but failed execution. The original MiB was also a tribute to the oddities and weirdness of New York. By taking the scenery out of there, the movie loses some of the charm. And there's no attempt to personalize any of the places they go, either. Marrakesh, Italy, it really didn't matter. They were pretty, but none of them stood out. The ending is really rushed, because it didn't entirely make sense to me. I get that High T neuralized H, but was High T a member of the Hive the entire time after the Paris incident? That means MiB had a high functioning mole in their midst for 2 years, and no one noticed anything? Also, if H was neuralized, does that mean his entire doofus reckless behavior was a result? Is that how High T told him to act? The alien twins though...they could have stuck around. Fine as hell! And when they were dancing, I liked them even more. 😉 Edit: Just looked up the twin actors and saw that they're professional hip-hop dancers, which makes sense.
  11. The only thing good about Tess and Jake's hookup was that Radiohead's "Sail to the Moon" was playing. It's one of my favorites but I never hear it anywhere. Otherwise, that whole scene was surprisingly underwhelming. No chemistry, but they had to get this part going because the season is ending. Simone and Howard are very strange together. Every conversation between them looks like it will lead to either intense sex or a shouting match. It definitely looks like Tess and Howard are going to have a fling, but I don't see her doing it to spite Jake. If anything, Tess seemed disappointed that Jake let Simone manipulate him again, so she took matters into her own hands. However, getting involved with Howard would be disastrous at any rate. It looks like a "Oops, we fell into bed because we had too many drinks" kind of thing.
  12. I haven't read the book and only seen the '94 version, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed that movie. Well-acted, beautifully shot, and has an amazing score. I miss those in films. This trailer definitely had a more modern/indie vibe to it, which I didn't like. I know Greta Gerwig is directing, but I don't know if that fits the tone of the film.
  13. Omar may have been a lousy lay, but he's right about Simone. I don't think anyone really knows her. I also want to know if she has something on Howard, because their power dynamic is weird. Howard can be skeevy as hell, but I think he does care about the restaurant. He recognized Scott's talents as a chef, and he sees a clear disparity between the staff. I just don't think Howard handled the tip thing well. Changes like that never go over well with the waitstaff, because it literally means giving money out of their own pockets, and they're already underpaid. And announcing that right before a shift was stupid. I've been on the receiving end of "compliments" like Heather's, and it sucks. All you can do is grin and bear it. Otherwise you'd never get anything done. Last week was the first time Jake has shown something other than "sullen teenager" for a change, but he and Tess are doing this stupid dance again. At this point, do it or don't, but stop dragging it out.
  14. That was my take on it, too. I just cringe thinking of the cost for all that equipment, knowing that the daughter will lose interest in it pretty soon.
  15. Forget prostitution, in this day and age, no one was worried about Will being filmed while he was masturbating? That alone would make the offer a hard no. EDIT: I just remembered this takes place in 2006, not 2019, so cell phone cameras and social media weren’t really a thing yet. Still possible to be recorded, though. I think Simone resents Howard for not giving her more responsibility, which is why she phoned Maddie. And Tess’ youth just reminds Simone that she’s getting older and hasn’t accomplished much.
  16. Rant here: Tess rearranging the wine cabinet was beyond frustrating. Why would she take that upon herself to do, after only having been there a month? And yeah, I know it was a metaphor for her actual troubles. But she's lucky that she didn't get snapped at by one of the staff, or even a stern lecture from Howard. And if the system is in place and works for everyone else, it's your job to adjust to it, not the other way around. Then she's plopped on the floor trying to figure out a new model (using an actual map no less) during the dinner service? So moronic. The restaurant wasn't going to stop for her crisis. If I was one of the staff, I would have hauled her ass off the floor and told her to get back to work. Sorry, that just pissed me off. Minor as it was, it's stuff like that that makes Tess seem stupid, not naive. Otherwise, I couldn't blame Tess for wanting to keep her personal life private, especially when it comes to money. Will should have kept his mouth shut, even if he meant well. The conversation between Santos and his friend was probably the best part of the episode. Seeing the very-real cultural divide actually gave some depth to the stupidity going on around them. Nice subtlety as they slipped out when everyone was oohing over Tess' "new" coat. They don't feel like a part of the group, so why hang around? Still wondering who took Santos' new gym shoes. I get that Sasha is upset about his Visa, but racism ain't cute. He could have gotten his ass kicked and he would have deserved it. LOL at Howard trying to hold onto his f*ck buddy. Jake isn't anything special, but pretty sure he saw through that. Basically agreed with everything you said, @ElectricBoogaloo. I don't know what Simone's deal is, either. She's maternal towards Tess, but looks like she and Jake hooked up once and she wants more.

    Cats (2019)

They do look like horrifying cat-human hybrids, no doubt. Jennifer Hudson‘s head looked like it was floating on that cat body. But the choreography is beautiful. The lead looked so graceful and lovely. I can see why that would translate better on stage. Still creepy looking creatures. And are they supposed to be miniature?
  18. Welp, is that it? I know the series was renewed, but in light of this, what now? Even if they have a backlog of episodes (and it can’t be many) knowing they’ve been banned from doing any more builds in Chicago isn’t going to help viewership.
  19. I'm fine with Mari's BF taking a hike. He's scum anyway. I can't blame Emma for wanting to turn the bar around. Frankly, the bar simply wouldn't survive the way Eddie and Vida were running it. They had a few regulars, but there wasn't enough cash flow to keep their heads above water, especially in such a desirable location. Younger patrons have more disposable income and are more likely to invite their friends. And increased interest and word of mouth could also bring in more lucrative entertainment. When Johnny got the phone call about the baby, I just saw him and Lyn realizing that they couldn't just run off and live in a fantasy. They had just hooked up and now were making plans to have this great day together with no worries or responsibilities. Then the phone rang. Basically dragging them back to earth. But at least neither of them denied what was going on. Lyn didn't beg or cajole Johnny to stay with her, and Johnny didn't blow off Karla and his child. I doubt these two are finished, but I really wish they were so they could move on from each other. And no offense to Karla, but if she weren't pregnant, Johnny would have left her for Lyn like a shot.
  20. Unless it's at a restaurant, I don't like banquette seating either. It's uncomfortable and I'm more likely to spill something on the upholstery. Plus, there are no armrests, you have to climb over people to edge your way out, nah. I didn't realize both photos were of her. In the second pic, she's so blonde.
  21. This is one of my favorite movies, and a real standout for a coming of age film. It's funny, challenging, and has a lot of heart. The scene when Muriel hooks up with Bryce is one of my favorites. So endearingly awkward by both of them. And when the American sailors showed up, it was hysterical. During the famous ABBA scene, I think the actresses playing Tania and Nicole were actually laughing while they were fighting. At least near the end. The scene was so funny I'm sure there was a lot of breaking character during filming.
  22. Yep. Jane's actions were petty, but Tess was definitely in the wrong. She was lying to her fiance about her real life and got upset when it inevitably blew up in her face. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't do a good job showing that Tess is as insecure as her sister and she just comes off as the villain. Tess owed Jane an apology for her own bratty behavior, especially for what she did to their mother's dress.
  23. This trailer gave me the same vibes as MiB International, flashy but empty. It just looks cheesy, and not in the fun way. Standard trailer fare from any spy/action flick, and the acting (what little there was) wasn't much better.
  24. This was really enjoyable. I liked the leads, and now having seen Ali Wong, I look forward to seeing more of her work. Hilarious of Keanu to lampoon himself. You know he hooked up with Marcus' ex back at his apartment. However, the last 30 minutes were pretty rushed and trope-y. Especially the public declaration of love. Can we please do away with that, or at least try a new spin on it? I thought the same thing, tbh. Their argument wasn't just anger, their worlds were really different and relationships can't always survive that. But the fact that Sasha named her restaurant after Marcus' mother and based so much of it off of her memory was a big deal.
