Nice to see Sebastian *finally* getting some love. He is by far the most talented person in this competition.

It's unfortunate that the only women remaining in the competition are Tessa and Hester. They're both not nearly as talented as they think. I can't believe either of them are in the top five.

I thought this was more successful than past “real women” challenges. At least there were a few designers that worked hard to please their clients even when it didn’t necessarily equate with their own design aesthetic. 

Then, of course, there was Jamal’s dress that was sliding off his client. She told him that it was loose and she still had to walk the runway in it. Sigh. His time was up weeks ago.

Tessa needs to stop talking. She is nasty, envious and self-important. Sorry to see that she will be around for another week, at least.

Finally...a deserved win for Sebastian. His dress didn’t look dated to me but I didn’t care for the color. Regardless, his construction skills construction are superior to the other designers. That was a beautifully detailed dress.

Garo worked hard to please his client. That color was stunning.

Christian’s reactions throughout the episode were absolutely priceless.

Tessa has an awful attitude and flat out lied about what her client wanted. Both she and Hester thought they were too good for this challenge. Jamall did a terrible job with that dress but still wanted him to stay over Tessa. Finally Sebastian gets recognized!

Tessa should've been offed because she out and out lied about what her client wanted and then she poorly executed what SHE, Tessa, wanted. She is arrogant and I can't believe anyone would want to work with her to design something since she loves her own opinions more than the person who has to wear her monstrosities.

I agree this was the most successful of these types of challenges.  That poor woman wearing Jamall's dress looked soooo uncomfortable, I felt badly for her.

But let's talk about the inequity of the assignments of the "clients." You get a skinny pageant queen! You get a fat woman! I'm not even trying to couch it in politically correct terms because come on.

Plus they said to make a dream dress, but there was no direction as to where their "girls" were going. So we got prom (?), engagement party, did any other client say where in her fantasy she was going?

NO COINCIDENCE that all of the top looks were on the thin clients.

You could see Tessa cringe when the designers learned it was a “real woman” challenge. How much in self denial is Tessa in if she can’t even admit that she’s used the color black in nearly every other challenge?  Like, really?

Even Brandon seemed to not disguise his frustration with her.

I was kind of hoping to flashback to Christian's prom challenge when he was a designer... He should have been sent home even though he was/is so talented. Didn't love Sebastian's color, but the dress was lovely. The preview scared me though.

Finally Sebastian wins! Cute dress. Also loved Garo’s dress and how his model loved it too. 

I liked Jamall but it was time for him to go. His poor model looked so uncomfortable. If his design had not been so awful I think Tessa would have been out. Has she ever finish a hem? And once again Hester squeaks by, at least she listened to her client which Tessa did not.

I'm not a big Garo fan but I love him for the way he treated his client.  He treated her like a QUEEN and made her feel like one and I love that about him. 

Bishme was also very sweet to his client but Bishme is sweet to EVERYONE.  I loved the rapport he developed with her though, and the card she wrote him was lovely.  I'm TeamBishme!

Jamal is way too much about Jamal.  His client is a 19-year-old, big girl, who wants to look PRETTY.  He can't take his head out of his ass to give HER what she wants?

I have no fucks to give for Tessa and Hester.

I think Brandon sees right through Tessa.  He is over her and her overinflated ego, underconstructed garments and unfinished hems.  And, WTF with throwing the other designers under the bus with her comment about the others using hem tape?

LOL.  I liked the tunic but would have preferred it with less colors.

I haven't been a huge Garo fan and this dress AGAIN had the weird shoulders but agree that the way he treated his client and embraced this challenge earned him huge points from me.  The removable cape was cool too.

I don't like either Tessa or Hester but at least Hester acknowledged that she screwed up and was out of her comfort zone here.

Sebastian has been my favorite all season, but  I didn't really care for any of the designs tonight. I suppose that his was the best, but....it just didn't seem like his best work.

 The purple wasn't horrible, but the rest of them were terrible imo. I don't get why it was do difficult. Lol

My mother and grandmother used to make my sisters and me crocheted vests like that back in the early 70's.  I forget what the pattern is called, but it's a series of crocheted squares that are sewn together.

I like how the producers tried to make it up to Jamal’s model — they showed her in the make up commercials that air between the show, as if they were trying to feature her. That was also the clue that Jamal had lost.

Thank you, both!!  I thought it had something to do with grandmothers or grandmas...we had all kinds of things from that pattern - vests, hats, purses, toaster cover, afghans (even the dreaded toilet paper covers, LOL!!)  They went crazy with it!!  🙂

Yes!  Sebastian won!  Finally.

I know he won once before, but it's been so long and there have been so many weeks since where he wasn't even in the top when he should've been or even won, so...

I think I've finally figured out why I don't like Elaine as a judge.  I've been thinking it just seems that she has such a narrow view of what is fashionable.  When she said Sebastian's design this week was "dated," that just cemented it for me.

I did like the guest judge, especially her comments regarding the differences between Jamall and Tessa, in essence, that Tessa speaks too much and listens too little, but that Jamall is willing to listen and learn.  On that basis alone, I would've sent Tessa home.  I mean, what's the point of her being there if she's not willing to learn?  On the basis of their garments, I think either could've gone home.

I do think Jamall has a lot of talent and, while I'm sorry to see him go, especially over Tessa this week, I'm not too upset.  He wasn't gonna win, as he's just not there yet, but I think he'll do well in the business.  Being willing to learn will serve him well, and I do think he's grown over the course of the season.

Other than that, the judges got the placements right for the other four designers.  I loved Sebastian's.  It was the perfect amalgam of elegant, retro and modern, and of what the client wanted and who the designer is.  I liked Garo's, too, though I wasn't crazy about the chiffon on the back.  That was a great color on his client.

Christian has really grown on me as a mentor.  I was dubious when it was announced that he'd be filling that role this season, but he's really growing in the role.  Each week, his advice to the designers seems even more on point and his delivery of it more professional.  The show is lucky to have him.

Oh, Tessa was a pill this week.  Ignoring what her client wanted, lying about her color preferences to the other designers and the judges, using Sebastian's technique, albeit badly, on the skirt, making an unfinished, poorly put together design, not taking on board what the judges have critiqued her on in the past, and she willfully defends it all, like "What's the problem here?"

And I'd like to know what planet she's living on that she thinks she's never used black in her designs before.  She does know this is being filmed, doesn't she?

Whoever said she's been playing it safe is exactly right.  She must think she's so fabulous, she can ride it out till the final, then she'll bring her A game.  It's all pretty arrogant.

I thought Garo was so respectful of his client and thoughtful in his design.  I especially liked that she could remove that organza (with finished edges - so there, Tessa!!) capelet.  I actually think the dress looked better without it.

I agree, but Sebastian did make it look more modern with the architectural bow and his signature stitching.  I think that was what the client wanted - a retro "princess-y" dress.
