I would love to have Phil be on the judging panel one year. The girls when looking up would see at least one encouraging face that might help them be slightly less nervous.

I love Phil.  His energy is infectious & he doesn't seem fake to me at all.  If I was auditioning, I think I would appreciate the fun he brings to the plate (dance parties and all).

I couldn't agree more. He's just so happy all the time, and that kind of personality is great at putting others at ease.

They need to dedicate one episode to the swim shoots they go on.

I want to see more journeys of the vets earning their spots back. I want to see how making the team their rookie year differs from their lets say, third or fourth year.

I'm wondering if the DCC even do swimsuit photo shoots anymore.  It hasn't been shown on the show for the last 2 years; probably because of Covid. Other teams (like AAIA, DSIG) stopped doing out of the country swimsuit photo shoots a few years ago.

I'd love to see vets featured more in general. How often do they make it their rookie year and then disappear until they make GL/2nd GL? Eg Amy L (although she was barely visible in her rookie year).

I really liked the office visits they do before finals so you have a bit of time looking at who's returning and retiring. They featured a few on that episode, as well as Kelli discussing which rookies had good seasons too.

They should do a feature on the vets that make show group too. In the past couple of years, we've had Kat, Erin, Cianna (who both then lost their spots), Chandi, Armani, Darian, McKenzie, Rachel A, Ashlee, Rachel W and Caroline all make it as vets. Like why did they get picked now over when they were a rookie? I'd love to see a board for it to see where they all rank, like they've done for TC over the past couple of years.

They still do them, but they're not on the show anymore. I wonder how the shoots are set up now-a-days!

I hope the other dance teams bring back out of country photo shoots.

It would be nice to see more features of the vet that made show group! I never thought of that!

Phil is just there for the show. If it wasn't for MTT he wouldn't be there. I doubt the girls actually care about him.

Isn't Phi director of security for the stadium now or did I dream that? Who's the grey haired gentleman that's escorted the cheerleaders back and forth to "office visits" during the last couple seasons?

I'm hoping they continue to focus more on the girls as individuals - I really got a kick out of their personality testing and leadership styles assessments.  I like to get to "know" the girls over the course of the show, and anecdotes in isolation don't really do as much to speak to this.

Also, all of this - understanding how Kelli and Judy make decisions is something I really enjoy, and I'd imagine it would be really helpful for the girls as well.

YES!!!!  It would also be a logical link to some of the vets we've gotten to know and love over past seasons.  Their journeys are really cool to follow over the course of the show, and understanding how they evolve gives you that much more to cheer them on for.

Great idea but shouldn't it be done before the game? Surely if they're on appearances leading up to the game on game week, they'd need that info then!

They do ongoing Cowboys and football education pretty much year round. I remember Mia at an Oxnard training camp event, where each Show Group DCC sits with a football player and folks come around and get stuff signed by them. They showed Mia chatting with the player, and she told him he was their Cowboy of the week or something that they studied the other week. He then quizzed her about what teams he played for and she named all four. So, Christie on the bus is part of the ongoing ed.

Phil was part of the Cowboys organization and DCC auditions traditions long before the show began. He has been leading the auditions dance parties at least since Shelly B. auditioned--the footage is on this forum somewhere. Yes, I believe he is a major figure in stadium security for the Cowboys, and I remember also that he is the main person or one of the main people who curates the art at the stadium, which is fascinating to me and signals a huge deal of respect and trust in Phil by the Cowboys. I think it was @ByTor who posted an informational post or link about Phil's roles with the Cowboys ages ago where I learned that.

The "armpit sniffer" poser????  OMG that is the most stupid looking thing!  If I was a cheerleader and they asked me to do that, I would just say no.

Interestingly, I've seen this pose used in other cheerleading squads. It's not unique to DCC. I've never liked it but I would love to know its origin.

The same goes for the looking over the shoulder pose. It can make for nice pictures but it’s not very suitable for cameo pictures (or so I feel)

As for a 95% focus on rookies: I think that’s a mistake. Of course we want to get to know them and root for them, but at the same time we all have favorites we want to see. And, as some pointed out, see how they grow as dancers and young women over the years. So, we should definitely see more of the vets!

And the few times they have the vets dance in front of the rookies, show the vets.  Not the rookies reactions !

I find it hard to believe that Kelli (or Charlotte for that matter), would want to let the marketing opportunity the show provides, just go.  Hopefully, they have other avenues to explore because I don't think it's quite time to let this show die.

The only caveat would be if the cancellation came from the Cowboys organization itself.

Link to article about MTT not being continued by CMT:

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Reality Show Ends Its Run on CMT

AAAAHHHHH!
I reealllly hope this is all just a negotiation ploy. Even if not on CMT, a sister network, or streaming. DCC revenue would decline significantly without the show- they will be financially motivated to shop the show around.

Edit - I also suspect there have been other lawsuits that have remained under wraps. Perhaps that has something do with CMT exiting? Risk/cost got too high.

I looked on their website on their audition section and didn't see anything.

With only a month basically until auditions begin, I doubt another network will pick them up. 😢

Is there a + version of cmt? Not really trying to add on another payment somewhere..

From a cost perspective- isn't this a cash cow of a show to do? Low expenses since they are going to do tryouts anyway and the Cowboys do pay a little something-like For the facilities/location. I mean if they made it through the covid  season- why bow out now?

Granted 16 yrs is a long time but there sh*t else on, most of the time, except sports.

I wonder if a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu would pick it up?  I mean Netflix has CHEER from Navarro.  They have some other cheer show as well, called Cheer Squad.

Also back in the day...this shows how ancient I am 🤣  ...on the Discovery Channel they had a show called On the Inside:  Cheerleading, and it was a documentary on a few All-Star teams in the Nation going to Nationals.

Well, there goes CMT's ratings. I definitely don't watch that channel for anything else. Wasn't this their highest rated show? It was definitely (IMO) their only good show...

I could see it being moved permanently to Paramount Plus, or Netflix, or another streaming service. Cable TV is a dying breed anyway.

I thought that’s what Kelli said. This is really strange and puzzling to me. If I’m one of the other pro dance/cheer teams, I’d be trying to fill that market with a show featuring my team.

I could see another popular team (like the Raiderettes for example) try to fill that spot. I think the Cowboys Organization, despite the recent scandals, understand that DCC:MTT is a big boon to their brand, and doubt they would be the ones to pull the plug. I could definitely see CMT trying to distance themselves from the organization, though, so they may be looking for another team to fill the void. I'd definitely watch the Raiderettes or someone else if they went in that direction.

It’s one of our local news ! "My hope is to continue their stories with our fans more globally, as we are in the process of negotiating a new partnership and we look forward to continuing to feature the DCC on a new platform," Finglass said.

That is good to hear! My hope is Hulu as they have a deal with Disney+ to stream their shows internationally- that is how I’ll be watching the new Kardashian show

Hopefully that would manke it more accessible to the UK! All we get are the occasional series on ITVBe every once in a blue moon!

This makes me hopeful! I honestly didn't believe CMT would EVER cancel MTT. With auditions only a month a way, I wonder if they will be able to get negotiations done in time or will they need to wait until next season to film. I feel like I've watched this show for most of my life at this point. I'd be so sad if it's finally ending. 🥺

*sigh* With all the retirement news coming out,  I had really high hopes that we might FINALLY get to see Ashlee as point this year. I was thinking it would possibly be her and Caroline. If the show gets picked up by another Network maybe TPTB freshen up the show format a little. Honestly, I can see maybe Netflix being interested. Especially with how successful CHEER was.

Only on CMT.   I bet that there is a more profitable way to do the show, and they said on another platform.   I bet they're in negotiations with another network, and CMT's contract ran out, so they're shopping production companies, and possible income, with producer credit and more money for the on-screen talent, and this show will be back soon.    I bet more control on storylines, and content will be in the negotiations also.       I'm betting the big viewer draws like the swimsuit shoot, and other events will be highlighted, because they promote the calendars and other sales items.

My guess is that CMT didn't make a renewal offer that was attractive, or refused conditions about filming, money, who gets creative control, etc.    I'm guessing this show will end up on a streaming platform, unless another production company wants to do the show, and has a network, either streaming, online, or cable interested in carrying the show.
