So please refresh my memory, is AAA supposed to be an American action star or a British one?  Because he can't carry an American accent to save his life and not many Americans say "bloody" all the time!

That being said, it really IS getting much better.  The characters are so nuanced......

Now they are letting him use his natural British accent because he couldn't do an American one.  Fine with me. But this show is really silly, but I'll finish it off....hey I'm retired, what else is there to do. Ha.

I really thought he was said to be British the entire time.  I don't have an exact quote, but I seem to remember from episode one that on one of the newscasts they specifically said he was from "across the pond" or something along those lines.  It never crossed my mind for one millisecond that he was anything other than a Brit living in America- possibly a dual citizenship.

Besides being the clear OJ clone story, this show really reminds me of a 1998 movie Shadow of Doubt with Melanie Griffith and Tom Berenger. I'm on episode two, but I keep thinking that the actor didn't kill the new girlfriend. He is defiantly guilty for those murders from 10 years ago, but this one I think he is being set up.

I do love the little inside tidbit - the guy who plays the lawyer Wolf, played the Wolf in one of my favorite shows of all time, the 10th Kingdom. That has to be an inside joke.

Out of the three new shows I'm watching - Whiskey Cavalier , The Enemy Within and this one, The Fix seams the least half baked. WC really disappointing me with the quality of storytelling, not to mention that it's almost more a comedy then drama.

Hello, fellow Happier in Hollywood listeners!

I wasn’t interested to watch based on the description, and I don’t have cable/antenna, etc, so I didn’t think I could watch. I have been looking up the ratings and today spied that I could watch online for free. I turned it on, really just to support Liz & Sarah, but I was hooked! I loved the pilot!! I was in high school during the OJ trial and remember very little of the details, so maybe that is why I don’t compare it and liked it as is. I’ve never seen Robin Tunney or AA-A before, but they are fantastic!

If you don't mind being behind a few days up to a week, most network shows are available on their websites or Yahoo View for free (with commercials).  The first few days count the most for ratings, if you can't watch live.

Robin Tunney seems to be one of those actors people either like or really dislike. I've liked her since her early days on Prison Break.

I'm so-so on the show, I'm usually doing other things so I might miss plot points, but I did think it was cool that they slipped in a "Mr.Eko" scene from Lost on Monday's show ! I wonder how many people recognized that ? Since I've seen every episode of Lost way too many times, I did, but most people might not have.

That bit of trivia made it to the IMDB page. 🙂 They finally added the episode description too.

Nitpick: so Maya left LA 6 years ago and her house is left empty yet remains in serviceable condition? She must be very rich to be able to pay taxes, maintenance and utilities for an unused property in the city.

I know this is an old comment, but I had to respond, because that scene from the pilot drove me nuts! It's not so much the money for me. Maybe she inherited the house in the first place or something and money just isn't an issue.

I more minded they way they portrayed her leaving it behind. They were so intent on portraying Maya as someone who left in such a hurry that she didn't even tell her best friend, that they screwed the pooch on the house.

Have a day player play a caretaker who checked on the place and lets her back in. It was a lazy way to (over-)emphasize the point that she got out of dodge ASAP.

I think he mentioned he was British when he was talking to the cops at the station.

I kind of liked it. However, I wish it wasn't so blatantly based on OJ. I think this show had potential, but because it's written by Marcia Clark, it's coming across as a personal  revenge thing and that's not going to work. I don't mind Robin Tunney. The other lawyer, he was easy on the eyes.

That it's personal revenge fic is my favorite part. This is the Mary-Sue-ing of all Mary Sues and I love how blatant it is.

When Gabe clocked Sevvy with that shovel, it just so much felt like Marcia's Revenge.

Can anyone explain the title? To me it sounded like "the fix is in," i.e. doing something unethical to win an election or maybe a trial.

In my mind the Maya character wants to "fix" the mistakes of the previous trial that let the killer off.  Maybe?

In the first ep, Wolf claims in his press conference that "the fix is in," saying that Maya, the DA's office and the LAPD are going after Sevvy to get payback for Wolf exposing their conspiracy to frame Sevvy eight years ago.

I think both of these are right. I think the title is supposed to bring to mind both uses of "fix."

Quote

Speculation: At this point, I'm convinced that Gabe (aka Kato Kaelin the stepson) knows that Sevvy killed his mom so he's framing Sevvy to avenge her murder. And Maya's going to figure out that Gabe killed Jessica but she's going to let Sevvy go down for it anyway.

More speculation:

Oh, I like that theory! My money has been on Ezra, but now I'm starting to eyeball Matthew Collier. He did too much lying this week (to cover up that Loni was the mole).

Now, he could just be concerned about his political career, but I don't think it would hurt the prosecution to out a traitor on their team before any charges were filed. After all, Loni was "fixing" it for the defense, not the DA.

Now I'm starting to wonder if Ezra and Matthew are in on it together.

Adewale..Sevvy just isn't doing it for me!  His is a strong character but I can't see the ladies falling all over him!  He's just too big and mean looking!

Well, people fall all over people who are rich and famous, even when they're not pretty. Donald Trump has been married three times. Larry King has been married 79 times.

While I think Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje does a great job playing angry and scary (see his character on Lost), I also think he's handsome. He started off as a model in Milan.

I did, and I loved it.  I kept having a mental slip on Mr. Eko's brother's name -- thinking it is also Sevvy, before I remember it's Yemi

I don't think this show will be back next year, which is too bad. The ratings just aren't good. It's the third lowest scripted series on ABC.

I like the cast.  I like that the show has an obvious female lead. I think they could easily make it an anthology, with a new crime each season.

I wonder if, thanks to the first season of American Crime Story on FX, if people have had their fix of OJ-related stuff for a while.

Not me, I'm out, you guys enjoy! The script is just too rotten for moi.

Agreed, wanted to like it, but this last episode was like every terrible crime procedural cliche combined. I hate Tunney's line delivery, and this is seeming more and more like Marcia Clark revenge porn.

Heh for me Robin’s early days were The Craft and Empire Records. I have always had affection for her because of those shows.

I still think Ezra killed Jessica. He needs money too much. Or he and ex wife Robin Givens conspired to do it. Not sure how the stuff Sevvy got rid of fits into the scheme of things though.

So I am probably dense but did the cowboy boyfriend of Maya (Marc Blucas) plant the listening devices at the office and her house? Because why?

I don't think Riv (still want to call him "Riley" from his Buffy days) planted the devices. I think either Maya's stalker did it (or whoever is trying to make Maya think she has a stalker), or Buck Neal (Robert Wisdom), Ezra's fixer.

I call him Riley also. I hope it wasn’t him and just a coincidence. I can get Buck doing the house one just not sure how the one in the meeting room at work could have gotten there (thought Riv/Riley did it when he brought dinner).

Well, it appears that the gate guard has a few extracurricular activities.

Note to TV producers:  Can you do away with the trope of red lights and sirens when they are neither useful nor appropriate?  What effect will they have pulling in front of an airplane setting up to park?

That ending had soap opera written all over it.

Was this bad actors' night?  The Asian gang were laughable, the security guard was so heavy handed...Maybe I shouldn't have wine while I watch this.  I'm getting to the point where I really don't care what the outcome of the investigation is.  For that matter, I'll throw myself under the bus if Sevvy gives me $18,000,000 for turning myself in as the killer. I'll figure a way out and disappear.

I'm probably the only person who really likes this and is sad about the cancelation.

can't wait to see how it ends.

No. I'm there too. I guess I'm not really sad, per se, because I thought when it started that it was a limited series. So I didn't expect it to return, at least not with these characters. I like the twist last night, didn't see that coming. I enjoy the show, though & it is getting better, I think. Apparently, the rest of the country doesn't think so, though, because the ratings are terrible. But, what do they know ??

  • Love 10

Wow. You know a show is really popular when the explosive season finale just ended and I have to go to the 2nd page of shows just to post !!

I liked the show as a limited series, it would most likely have started dragging had it been a full season drama, but 10 episodes is just about right.

When it became obvious that there was going to be a "new" killer reveal, I figured it would be one of the adult kids, but I thought it would be the daughter, Star. Just because she was friends with Jessica. Did we ever see any scenes with the son and Jess ? I don't remember any, and if they didn't, that's a bit of a cheat. But, overall, I enjoyed the show.

I liked the twist of Sevvy being innocent, but ending up in prison anyway. It is fitting. I realized he was going to be innocent a few episodes ago, and was prepared to dislike it. But it ended up working for me.

I'm not really upset about it being cancelled because I also thought it was going to be a one season thing. Not sure how it would have worked for another season, unless it was just about some of the lawyers with a totally new case.

I hope Maya's boyfriend whose name I never learned accepts her acceptance of the proposal, and isn't mad it took her awhile. Someone needs a happy ending.
