I'm totally bummed and pissed and all those things. Such a stunt. Soap Opera 101: she doesn't wait at the diner or think maybe something might have happened BECAUSE HE'D BEEN IN A FIRE but no, she leaves in a snit and throws herself into work and won't answer any calls. That causes him to leave his hospital bed, thereby ending up at the low-rent Seattle hospital. Oh, Vic.

And good call on the possible pregnant storyline but will be such a drag for all of us.

I actually enjoyed the actors better on Grey's Anatomy. I have no idea why. (The Station 19 actors on Grey's Anatomy.) And Maggie seemed more tolerate at the low-rent Seattle hospital. This confused me.

Well, this freaking sucks. One of the best things about this show was the romance between Ripley and Vic, and it had so much potential for interesting stories going forward, plus him reconnecting with Sullivan gave both of them something to do that had potential, and now its all thrown away. And for what? More soap opera drama? A chance for Sullivan to spend more time on his tepid romance with the queen of tepidness herself, Andy? Letting Vic get to angst a bunch until they stick her with some new rando? This show does not really have that many plots I am super into, and now it has one less. God, this is such a pile of suck. Why do we NEED this drama? Cant we just see them be happy, or deal with getting married after not knowing each other for awhile, or how their jobs affect their relationship? Why do writers think that people just want to watch people die and cry, and not just live their lives, and maybe even be happy sometimes? Especially one of the few couples on this show that are actually likable and have chemistry?

At least Andy actually acted a bit more like "the heart of the team" that people keep going on about, being supportive of Vic, taking her to the screaming closet, and comforting Sullivan.

Damn it!

On to the next critical item:  How are they going to make it possible for Andy to bypass all channels and get promoted to Ripley's job? /snark

Im sure Ripley will have it laminated in his will that should anything to him Andy as the “heart” of Station 19 should bypass everyone and take his job.

Ugh. I suppose at least they seek to be trying to fix her but it’s just too little too late for me.

Yeah, if that happened, the show would be truly over. Even in the flashbacks, we have NO IDEA how Ripley got ahead of so many people to be fire chief. They want the excuse for the show to be that people like Praitt didn't get promoted because "they didn't want to be behind a desk." Yet, outside the first appearance Ripley was pretty much ALWAYS in the action, he just sucked at thinking things through. Same with saving the other captain that lead to his death with his excuse: "I out rank him." Yes, and you got hit in the head by exploding projectile and he tells the paramedic: "I'm fine, I don't need anything." Yeah, and he passes out from a concussion and then we learn he inhaled dangerious chemics from the coffee plant due to the fire? Yeah, because no one would think: "Wait, this type of fire might lead to chemicals in the air, let's just have everyone clean the place up." "Because fire fighters IMMEDIATELY clean up after a scene like that and take apparently 10 hours."

I started watching again two weeks ago after being sucked into the Vic/Ripley romance. Now he's dead? I'm out again. It's a shame because that storyline had lots of room to grow.

I really do not like the Andy character. The actress is fine but the character is insufferable. Shondaland doesn't usually make these kinds of major errors so it is surprising to me. I'm not cracked over Jack either.

This show is such a smoldering pile...that not even every truck company in Seattle could overhaul it. Killing Ripley was the only way out dramatically, so I saw it coming, or at least as a strong possibility. It's patently obvious that the writers and showrunners have never spent actual time in a firehouse, going on runs, etc. It started off decently enough but became a bad soap opera about the time that both Ripley and Sully entered the picture.

There are so many truly great real-world stories from the fire service that they could dramatize just a bit here-and-there and it would be very compelling TV. Instead they have dumbed this down to the room temperature IQ set. I missed about half the episodes this season and I don't feel like I missed a thing. Won't be coming back to the show next year unless I read that the writing has improved. Even with three firehouse dramas on the air (Chicago Fire, 9-1-1, and this thing), none of them have a quarter of the storytelling ability of Emergency!

Not knowing what Shondaland is, I can't really comment, I suppose. The only other one of her shows I ever watched on occasion was Scandal and that was a lot of crazy-stupid fun. This train-wreck of a show is difficult to get through, and not just because of how they portray the fire service (hint: it's BAD), but that they put no thought into the story. Might as well be an afternoon soap. Describing this thing as cringeworthy would be an insult to perfect good cringes.

So I followed him to  Station 19 because I love happy endings.  What a mess!  They kill off one of the only couples with chemistry for the stupid reason that he wanted to accept Vic's proposal and left the hospital, and then spend half the episode watching him die.

Bad writing, mediocre acting for too many characters. Blech. Not watching this show again.

Good episode!

The actress playing Vic gave a good perfomance.

Sullivan's eulogy was very nice.

Of course, Andy tried to make the episode about her misfortunes and being betrayed!

The guy at the diner doesn't get the newspaper or watch the news? I'm sure Ripley's picture would be on the front page or lead story.

At the end, was the asshole "looking like a porn star" firefighter showing up and fight neccessary?

Ripley's sister looks like Caitlyn Jenner.

A nice tribute. Vic's got a rough road ahead based on that scene in the bar with porn star firefighter.

The way Maya was sobbing I thought she was knocked up. Glad she and Andy made peace. I like the friendship between those two and Vic. That it was a given for Vic to stay with them and way they helped her with her uniform.

I also liked the acknowledgment from Jack that they were all at the fire and any of them could have gone down.

On a side note, I found it interesting that Los Angeles was asking Seattle for supplies for their wildfire.  I guess the writers forgot about the rest of California, Oregon, and most of Washington.

Well, Seattle is by far the largest city in Washington.  Still, there are some sizeable cities closer to L. A. (Portland, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, San Diego...)  Shonda logic lol

I'm hand-waving as a preexisting mutual assistance agreement. Everytime we have major wildfires and natural disasters we hear on the news about "crews from across the country" coming in to help.

Right, very true and we have friends who live in Washington and they are effected by said wild fires too. From breathing levels to small ones sparking. So, hand waving that does work in this type of scenarios.

I concede that the "supplies needed" was mostly a setup for the conversation, but, in real life, every fire department has ample supplies and fire equipment to tend to most big wildfires.  Add to that a huge warehouse in Southern California with everything they might need, plus another in Northern California, plus all the major cities in between, made it a bit humorous to me that they would go all the way to Seattle for some equipment.  People are a different matter, but no one mentioned anything about heading south.

I was unfamiliar with Barrett Doss before this show, but these last two episodes convinced me the show made a huge mistake making Jaina Lee Ortiz the lead.  For a relationship that wasn't well-written and relied entirely on the chemistry of the actors, Doss really brought it with her scenes.  She can be funny, vulnerable, warm, tough, grief-stricken, kick-ass, distant, reckless...all without managing to be whiny.  Ortiz isn't a bad actress (the writing does her no favors), but she can't carry a show.

Maya can do sooo much better than Jack.  And Andy, for that matter.

I hope they bring Nikki back in a supporting role next season.

I am still just super pissed about Ripley. They had one couple that was really working, and they killed one half of them off and left the other one heart broken. The performances were pretty good this week, especially from the actress playing Vic (and she looked so beautiful in that last scene!) but I am still super salty.

Indeed! Vic has a great bedside manner.  I contrast that to the earlier episode with Andy during the wind storm.  Technically, Andy was bad ass, but something about Ortiz makes Andy seem whiny and annoying no matter what she does.

This episode was a mess!

Terry to Andy: We know how to take care of ourselves!!!!!!!

(One minute later) Hey! we're gonna need some help here with this fire!

(Three minutes later) Maria has blood running from her nose and having breathig problems.

(Five minutes later) Terry gets his hand trapped/torn up in the brush cutter. Needs amputation!

(At the end) Terry's and Maria's home burn down.

Terry and Maria would have been fine if Station 19 didn't show up and brought their "bad luck" drama with them.

Of course! Montgomery meets a guy and instant attraction happens/making out.

Tanner couldn't leave the bag of cash in the trunk?

This show still have their priorities in place, they pass the opprotunity to have Andy and Sullivan kiss under water and waited for them do it unprofessionally in the station.

Leave it to the Seattle "outsiders" to takeover the center's equipment and start barking orders.

So at the end, they just took a field trip to LA and accomplished nothing.

Poor Sullivan! It's embarrasing but these "performance" problems happens from time to time. Don't try to blame your leg. The viewers know!

Maya's ex/Miller. Ugh! It's getting real silly now!

But the cat lives and reunites with its owner. All is good.

That was one long hour to sit through.  I presume they at least stopped along the way for some rest, because after a 22 hour drive, they would be in no condition to do anything.

Leaving the other considerations about wildland firefighting aside for plot requirements, it was hilarious to look at those squeaky clean Nomex jumpsuits. And, of all the resources available on the West Coast, they picked the 7 people out there that don't know a goddamm thing about wildland fires.  That whole sequence was cringeworthy.

Note to screenwriters:  It's LA County.  There are no unmarked roads that no one knows about.

A deaf firefighter?  Really?  How does that work, exactly?

I did like how Sullivan told Jack (I think) "Just get to work.  Shut up."

Don't worry, Andy.  There are always, (ahem) alternate methods of stimulation for the both of you.

While clearly the couple should have hightailed it out of their ASAP, the husband was certainly quite the spry fellow. He ran over and shoved Ben out of the way of that flaming piece of house that it aint no thing.

As soon as I saw that medic guy, I was like "oh, this guy is cute, Montgomery is gonna hit that."Jack trying to hook them up was actually quite cute, and I love that he just randomly knows sign language. "You dont?"

Does no one in this universe use condoms? I sure hope all these ladies are on birth control or something, or else we might have even MORE soap opera stuff coming up. We have enough ridiculous drama already with all the screwing around the work place. Follow up, I hope they keep that fire station really clean, with all messing around that goes on in ever office and closet.

I just wanted the cat to be reunited with his owner, so I was happy.

I'm assuming that all of these firefighters have residences where they can screw when they're off duty, so I just don't get the frantic humping that goes on in the workplace.  This happens with medical dramas, too, and it's a pet peeve of mine.

Speaking of screwing, I don't think there's anything wrong with Sullivan's third leg, but it looks like he does have something serious going on with one of his other legs.

I figured Sullivan re-injured his leg when he tried to kick the door of that house in.  All he had to do was tell Andy about his leg.  But whatever, don't care about their coupling.

Been waiting all season to express this: Papa Herrera is as annoying as Andy.  She definitely inherited it.

I don't watch Grey's Anatomy, so don't have that background on Warren.  But I felt bad for him that he essentially lost out because Bobby Ewing and his wife were really, truly dumb.  Not just for not evacuating, but trying to cut something off of...whatever that machine was.  I was more than a little bit "If he dies, he dies" about the character.

I know Vic was in a dark place, but I was with her about the cat.  It's nice that he turned up, but yeah...there were more pressing matters at hand.  And I mean, she's entitled to mourn and be in a dark place for awhile.  It's not like it'd been months or years since Lucas died.  Has it even been a week in the show's timeline?

ETA:

Normally, I don't think deeply about the plot, but wasn't Travis at Vic's place? How did the police know where to find and arrest him?

Sad to say, a tornado hit a town near by about 5 years ago. Two older women died, because one refused to leave her home thinking that a tornado had never come through the town before. The second because she was scared of basements because of spiders and bugs tend to live there. They both lost their lives, even though neighbors tried dragging them out, but they didn't want to listen.

As cliche as the story was, sad to say, it's very true. People get very stuck or stubborn in box thinking with: "Nothing has happened before, won't start now." As soon as Patrick Duffy's arm caught fire from the ember. That should have been: "Let's get the hell out of here." No, he was: "Quick, help me save my house." "Ok, now let's cut up this tree to avoid more fire, even though the damn thing is head right for us!" Morons.

I have to take back my criticism of the wife because I forgot she wanted to evacuate, but let him talk her out of it.  Never mind that she has asthma, and would be adversely impacted by the poor air quality even if their house wasn't burned down.  Senior Bobby Ewing was an asshole.

Right, it was more of the husband being: "Never happened before, won't today." attitude. Which I'm sorry, you get to an age where crap like that effects you more directly. Once they started having the wife with asthma, the fact that being an older house built from scratch and the amount of trees they were trying to clear in such a short time. JUST DIDN'T MAKE SENSE! They also didn't look to be an elderly couple with financial problems, so even though the house had sentimental reasons. They would have had it rebuilt with insurance, which from that area being hit every 10 years or so as said. I'm sure insurance companies were not only knocking at the doors of the neighborhood, but people were shelving out money no problem. So, it rings stupid.

Didn't get to watch until last night. Disgusting.

Everyone talking about personal issues with hot embers rating down, Patrick Duffy that I just wanted to slap, not sending one firefighter with our illustrious crew that knew where they were and what to do, sex in the firehouse...again, well almost, every one being inside and no one watching the fire, Andy, the list goes on. The only thing that didn't make me mad was Travis kissing the medic. Good for him, he was so cute.

Every time Andy shows up my stomach turns. Can't stand her entitlement. Glad he sent her home. I love Vic but not sure she is enough for me to continue watching. We will see.

Yeah, there's something wrong with Sullivan's leg.

I half expected Victoria Principal to be playing Bobby Ewing's wife. That would have been a hoot and a half.

As for Bobby Ewing, that ponytail might have been pretty flammable too, IMO.

And Ben? I like that he's getting caught playing cowboy FINALLY, even though he saved the guy's life. I also like that everything he's done is on his Permanent Record, ha.

Maya...I like her character but not with jack. They built her up to be this super strong independent women. Don’t want to see a bunch of relationship drama.

Yeah, Nyle DiMarco. I noticed his name in the credits so I waited for him to show up. I would not complain if he ended up being recurring next season, but I feel he was just a guest star. It would probably get me to watch next season, especially after they killed Ripley.

I did love that Jack knows sign language. I know it was a predictable twist for someone on the team to know it but it being Jack was a twist enough.

Man, Patrick Duffy really screwed things up for everyone, didn't he?

Sullivan and Andy? Yawn. Of course there's already trouble in paradise because Sullivan's leg hurts and his big ego is too hurt to simply tell Andy "Hey, I want to have sex but my leg is acting up so I gotta go see my doctor. Raincheck?" Instead, he's gonna hide his issues and it's going to ramp up during a crisis, which....meh.

Maya's ex being Nikki? Yay, more pointless relationship drama. Just what I wanted, instead of, I dunno, anything else.

So, is Ryan actually gone now? Or not? I'm confused by his goodbye; it sounded very final, as if the actor is leaving the show.

I’d say so. His role was never going to work long term given he’s not a fire fighter and the fact that he only existed to be Andy’s love interest. Now that Sullivan arrived his role is more or less redundant.

The best thing to happen to Jack was Andy dumping him because characters in her orbit only exist to listen to and prop her. They get zero development bar the exception of Sullivan.

I personally won’t miss Ryan as he mostly came across as childish as a result of how Andy treated him. The father storyline was dull as it quickly became about Andy as well.

I'm glad Ben's recklessness has finally caught up to him with consequences.  He is an adrenaline junkie with a savior complex who constantly makes the riskiest, most drastic choice possible.  It often seems like he makes that choice, not because there are no other options, but because he is addicted to that extra element of danger and doing the impossible.  If he were a mountain climber, he'd climb Mt. Everest without supplemental oxygen and would cut it too close to get down in time before a storm.  He should never be in a job where he is responsible for people's lives.

It was another fire fighter who made reference of Vic being a slut since she was sleeping with the Chief and then asked if Travis was "hitting that too". It wasn't unrealistic that Travis is getting charges pressed against him. However... it wasn't like people didn't hear what happened and it escalated into a full bar fight with others. Which means there would be other charges against other people and the bar owner could have sued. Praitt would have also knew that Travis was facing charges because he bailed him out the next day.

It's kind of how Ryan's history of stealing and hot wiring cars magically was over looked when he applied to the police academy. They would have been like: "So, you use to love stealing cars and the Station 19 captain bailed you out? So, why should we hire you again?"
