Agreed. I think it would be a shame if she doesn’t get point. Only a few of the second year vets match her in terms of performance IMO, and I don’t think they’re in the running as second years. Full disclosure tho...I’m not one who thinks the point needs to be sweet, or responsible, or a leader, or anything but the best dancer. Group leader positions are for the leaders IMO.  Tone down Gina’s bleach blond hair, and she’ll look fine there.

As for Kalyssa, I actually think her page has toned down some from last summer when she had all of the cheesy towel posts. She seems like she has better photographers now. Regardless, she seems to like what she does, so good for her. Do you!

This two word sentiment is so dead on. And honestly, I would be happy to be in their shoes for a day. I can't hate on any of these gals too hard, because it takes so SO much to get out there and take a risk, and to open yourself to ridicule and failure. I know. I'm constantly berated for my effervescent, striking, captivating beauty and chutzpah. Nah, just playin.

I could never handle her boobs.  They look utterly painful.  Don't even get me started on what she's done to her lips.  #plasticlooking

Totally forgot to mention that....that's the a part that I want to turn away from in revulsion because they look so painful. They just look TIGHT. Her frame is teeny teeny weeny tiny....yeowch!

Man. Gina can D A N C E. Just watching her in that clip reconfirms that. I know she's not everyone's cup of tea but I literally can't look at anyone else. She reminds me of Paula Abdul's style back in the day. She adds like, three extra moves to every count and she knows how to do it. I'm in awe.

I'm not in any way a dancer, so this might be obvious to others. I've been trying to figure out what it is that makes Gina so special.  I completely agree that she grabs attention and looks "better" than others. But she also seems to by in synch with everybody else, at least in that clip. It seems like she maybe just does the same thing only "bigger"?  Is that a thing?

I'm not a dancer, so I go by what K&J say on the show or what posters say on here.  So based on K&J, I would say that if you are doing the same thing but bigger, then you won't be accused of being a blender, right?

From today's DCC academy.  I'm only sharing this to show Gina near a center position and she's not going nuts overly extra.

Not defending, not undermining.  Just find it an interesting glimpse seeing how she might look if in a point position (which I realize she isn't here nor is it a popular idea among many here).

Is that Rachel on the far right? She looks “soft” and not very sharp at all.

I think she just accents and punctuates her moves. She doesn't do a step/bodyroll, she does a step/slight shimmy/bodyroll/head pop and it dresses up those moves. That's what makes her so special to me. That extra oomph and energy she puts into it...it's what people call "extra" but she is just light years ahead of some of them with her interpretation of the same old choreo.  She makes it look fresh and new. OK I'm done lol.

No, no, no......it's descriptions like that that help this non-dancer understand what other people are seeing.

Which would be great if they went with her ‘interpretation’ of the choreo. Not so much when 35 girls do one thing in unison and 1 does her thing, especially when she is at point.

Then again this year we will also have VK in the back doing her own thing as well so maybe that’s this season’s theme!

I don't find it to be distracting, I used to though. I thought everything about her was just too much, but to see how she's evolved is refreshing. Now I just see her as doing what everyone else is doing...but better.

Exactly one of the reasons why I'm really hoping Gina gets point: If they're going to stick with the "tired" and true routines I would like her style to be the standard -- an encouragement for the other girls to dial it up so the choreography is not so same old, same old.

I'll let Mom know her money spent on all those dance classes wasn't a complete waste.🤣

I cannot like this enough!! I'm tired of everyone having to conform to the "blender" dancer, dial it up to the best dancer!!!

What Gina does so well, is her isolations.  For example her hip roll around the .07 mark.  It happens fast so you have to play it back several times to see the difference in how Gina does that move compared to how much blander the others do.  She's cleaner, sharper and has more dynamic to her presentation of each move.

We all know how repetitive or whacked some of this choreo can be but Gina herself once said you have to take the choeography given and make it look the best it can be.  She does that.

That, I think, is the difference between the blenders and the standouts. I love watching Gina.

Some people here think Gina doesn't have a HD face for point. But Kelli obviously does. And Kelli doesn't give a shit what we think  She was at the front of the squad photo last year and was in the traingle behind Alexis/ Lexie on media day, which we ourselves all agreed they featured the 'prettier girls' of the squad.

Also another observation I have to make. I started watching the show in 2013/14 the year Jinelle and Jenn K were rookies. So I don't have this infatuation of the girls from older squads like a lot of you do. I didn't have a clue who Nicole Hamilton and Abigail Klein were until recently when I went a watched some videos. I think the squads used to be a lot more powerful back then and used to have a lot more pop to their dancing. But they are not all in sync, not like today's squad. All the old "greats" did what Gina does now. They were "extra". They did extra moves. So what do you guys want, the good old days of power and pop or more syncronicity of today's squad??

Also one last VERY unpopular opinion...Abigail Klein is definitely pretty.. but eh. She just another vanilla white girl 😂😂

I don’t see evidence of Kelli “obviously” thinking Gina is HD friendly. There is a difference having her at point in a small group setting, presented to small kids and not the jumbotron. Even during the clips she was behind Lexie and Alexis who might be hella pretty but isn’t the best dancer. She was there in both cases because Kelli knows she is the most powerful vet.I don’t doubt she will end up in the triangle and might get point herself. But I think Kelli knows that as point she will have close ups and multiple pictures and her facials are a bit Joker-y. Sounds harsh, but if Gina makes it up there it will be in spite of her face.

As for the old squads, I never saw anyone doing extra moves; just really powerful dancers who stood out. One big difference is though that their choreo has improved so i’d love to see Emma, Ashton and Nicole (for example) in newer dances.

Emma, Ashton and Nicole would be my personal dream triangle from years past.

This is what I was going to try to say but couldn't find the words. Thank you for saying it splendidly. Why on earth should lackluster performances that aren't "extra" be the goal again? The goal is what Gina, Nicole Hamilton, Holly and the GOATS do. It's also just more fun as a dancer, I think....and that shows.

That's current TCC Alexandra by Simone.  She's coming up with a flexed foot.... hope her kicks have gotten better.

I've seen that video before, but this is the first time I looked at anyone but Holly. Alex's kick is strange, flexed all the way to the top and then pointed at the very last second.

It makes me wonder if that's what Emily Villareal was doing with her kicks that one year there were a few photos of her with a flexed foot. I kept wondering how it's possible nobody ever told her to point her toe, but maybe she wasn't pointing it until reaching the height of the kick?

In any case, it's not pretty in motion or in still photos. I hope Alex can break that habit and still get her legs as high as they need to go.

Despite her issues, Holly will always be one of the best technical dancers they've had in recent years, maybe ever! Those kicks are just effortless! I miss the days when I could kick that high!

If you're going to dance on a team, you have to meet somewhere in the middle. It doesn't matter if you're the best or the worst, if you look like you're doing something different than everyone else, you are doing something wrong. A team is meant to look like one unit, not 36 dancers putting their own spin on the choreo.

First, I'm not sure what's happening to me - maybe its age. But all of sudden the squat/bootypop thrust thrust thrusting is annoying. For so many years now  - find some new moves. I must be getting old because I didn't used to be bothered by these.

That being said - the old guard - like in these videos- seem to have a more mature vibe to them. I know the girls on the team are the same ages as the current girls - but they seem more aware and more mature somehow.
