S02.E08: All I Want Right Now Is One More Bullet

Recommended Posts

I love Lito, but he's such a drama king. ?

Sun giving him the side eye was hilarious. Their whole scene with the cat pillows was great.

Glad Will is off the heroin, but thought it was unrealistic that after a year of being strung out he'd kick the habit like it was nothing. I wasn't happy to see him craving the drug this episode, but thought it was realistic.

I really liked Felix last season but now I just find him annoying. I think it's because I've come to realize that the actor just isn't that great.

I like Will and Riley together, but I don't see this great love between them.  I think all the other couples (i.e. Lito/Hernando, Wolfie/Kala, Nioma/Amanita, Caphues/his girlfriend)on the show are believable as in love than these two.

Hate Lila. Still don't understand what she's trying to accomplish. Is she doing this in part because Wolfgang wouldn't f*ck her? She comes off more as a spurn lover than someone who is working a strategy for power.

Omg, Lito's pyjamas!!! How cute was that? And he was a total baby in this episode, lol. Although I can understand his depression, we all know how much he loved being an action hero. Best part was his scene with Sun, she was rolling her eyes sooooo hard...

I don't know what to think about Capheus's storyline. I mean, what do the writers really know about Kenya? Are they being realistic? Because I'm not sure I'm buying it.

Ugh, the Napolitan girl can die now. But I loved the fight between the two clusters, it was stunning, really cool.

Kala's husband can die too, I don't trust him.

I KNEW there was a reason I hated Lila.  Ugh.  So relieved that Wolfgang doesn't turn off his brain even when humoring her panting sex kitten act.  That scene in the restaurant.......DAMN!!!!!  When the Clusters on both sides popped up you could have knocked me over with a feather.  And Princess Proper Kala sneering "Bring it, Bitch" LMAO.   And then I stopped breathing until the credits rolled.   I am going to need to take some time before I can adequately talk about this scene.  Amazing.

OMG. Riley and Amanita have now kind of officially met.  Sqqquuuuueeeeeeee. LOL

Loved the scene between Will and Kala.  They don't drown in screen time but he comes off as such a cool big brother with her.  I only point it out, because that's not how he comes across with Nomi or Sun.   With the exception of Wolfgang, Kala actually may be the little sister of the group since everyone else seems to be miles ahead of her in terms of life experience.  Good on him for saying out loud that Kala is in love with Wolfgang.

I so hope Diego comes through everything ok.  I know they wouldn't drag him into anything unless it was necessary but I'm still worried about him.  And was it just me or was that the set of "Chicago PD"?  I watch Chicago Fire and PD and would swear that was the set.

Rajan is clearly in trouble and no doubt Kala is going to be dragged into said trouble as well.

I have to post more on rewatch.

They had a balance to keep with Lito, and they kept it really well. On the one hand, it's awful to lose what you love to do in an instant because of bigotry, and it's a very real thing in the movie business -- nobody has yet been able to combine being a top-level star with coming out. On the other hand, Lito is really enjoying wallowing in his misery (and also, I think, from the start they've all known how funny the actor can be when he's being whiny and self-indulgent). And I think he played the whole episode in his pajamas! It's amazing that this plot is still providing the biggest comedy for the series despite very real bad things happening.

Ditto on all this. When the clusters rose up, my jaw went agape. And then it only got better with "Bring it, bitch!" I need to watch that whole scene again right now.

Well damn!

The clusters popping up on both sides has got to be one of the best moments of the show.  Kala's "Bring it Bitch" was all kinds of amazing.

This show does do action scenes  exceptionally well.

I agree with everyone. The clusters popping up was amazing to watch.  I think I even said out loud during that scene "this show is so cool" :)

I also loved how Wolfgang didn't ask for help but knowing he may go to his death ended up having to "touch base" with everyone before heading out. And Will's "I can't picture it" when talking about Wolfgang asking for help and I think Nomi mentions Wolfgang "doesn't talk much".  I just loved the line delivery on both of those.

Yes, the clusters both popping up was amazing. And Kala throwing out her Bring it on BITCH! Oh that was all so epic. And, its little, but I really loved when the two clusters squared off, Sun jumped in front of Wolfgang with a little smirk. That was so kickass. Great episode!

I enjoyed that we got to see some cluster-mates interact that don't get to as much, like Sun and Lito and Kala and Will. Sun was so clearly out of her depths dealing with Litos dramatics, it was both hilarious, and kind of sad, considering it ended with poor Sun flopping onto the bed and cuddling with Lito and some plushies. I also liked seeing Kala and Will talk, especially as Kala rants about her marriage, while Will totally knows what's up. It was super cute. We even had Diego meeting Bug!

Oh course when Wolfgang goes off to what is possibly a death sentence he just walks by everyone, to see the gang one last time, before he goes off to handle things on his own. I love that everyone totally knew what was going on, and that he needed help but didn't know how to ask for it. Then everyone immediately rushing off to help him anyway. I'm not sure what Lila and her cluster are up to, I think they might be involved with Wispers and his company. Very concerned about Wolfgang if that's the case. They know where he is, and while he wouldn't be an easy target, they could still get to him.

I like Capheus's plot with him getting into politics. I think it could lead to some interesting plots. I also loved his super huge smile when he looked at Wolfgang dropping by. He probably doesn't come by a whole lot just to say hi.

I just picture after Kala was like "why didn't he ask us for help?" Riley was like "This is the same Wolfgang we know right? You know, Wolfie? Tall, German, scowls a lot, frequently shirtless?"

Ditto everyone's sentiments about the clusters popping up behind Wolfgang/Lila - I just wish the scene had gone on longer (and that it hadn't been spoiled in the trailers). Fantastic moment though, especially the lead-up with Amanita/Bug pinging the phones of the assassins at the restaurant. And Amanita meeting Riley was great!

So Lila's play is that she wants to take over Berlin as a city for their particular species? Not necessarily an ignoble goal, but I guess the whole sex kitten act made her evil.

I like how we're exploring some new dynamics among the sensates: Lito/Sun was a standout in this particular episode, and it cracked me up that (of course!) Lito would deal with his depression by dropping in on the others and acting mopey. Him watching the Rajan/Kala scene with a bowl of popcorn was great!

I laughed that sex hotel's in Seoul had Hello Kitty themes, and Lito comforting Sun (while in his onesie PJs was awesome). I agree about Felix as well.

It will be interesting to see how many different factions of sensates are out there, what they stand for, whose side they are one (if any).

Even more cool to me than the two clusters popping up was the bit where one member of each cluster would appear as Lila and Wolfgang circled each other.  So glad I don't watch spoilers!

Me too, but killing him after the "funny but annoying sidekick always dies first" would be trite.

Why start with a huge and important city like Berlin?  They could take over one of the small towns (especially one that's fallen on hard times) and grow from there.

I think I wanted to see more of that bar scene, and I wanted to do it with a better understanding of what was happening.

Lila's arc is super confusing to me. If she wants Wolfgang's help, why set him up to be assassinated by Fuchs?

If she just wanted him dead, why not shoot him?

And either way, why set him up to be assassinated by Fuchs *and show Wolfgang she was doing it*?

Why did she have to ooze all over him throughout? Just to make sure we knew she was evil? (And why is  "sexually aggressive woman = evil" the right trope to hit here? So we can have Wolfgang porn?)

I just don't understand what she really wanted, or why she made it all so complicated. In that sense I much preferred his S1 gangster arc.

The gun fight at the restaurant was impressive - especially from a filming perspective - all the cuts to the other cluster members and how they would appear and disappear as Lila and Wolfgang walked around were very well done. I appreciate how difficult this series must be from a logistical standpoint - so many scenes need to be filmed twice or more in each location.

Lila's arc is confusing to me also. She can't seduce him so she has decided to kill him..? But one moment Lila is setting him up and the next she is trying to kill him herself..?
One thing is for certain : there should be no way for Wolfgang or Lila to be able to stay in Berlin after that killing spree. There would be a lot of eye witnesses who could identify both of them as shooters.

The fight also answers the question as to whether Homo Sensorium is any better than Homo Sapien. Nope. They are just a bloodthirsty and power hungry as any other species. So much for all the love, peace and togetherness stuff we were told from Jonas and others.
And I'm glad for it - I sometimes get tired of the 'specials' (mutants, inhumans, etc) always thinking they would create a better more inclusive world if they were the majority.

I enjoy the comedy of Lito's depression and mourning - but wasn't he near suicidal just last season when the sex pictures came out? And I feel for him, but from a business perspective I could see why an actor should check with his agent before agreeing to host a high profile event.  Surely Lito can't be a high profile actor and be so naive as to think there would be no fallout.

I think Lito is, at heart, naive. But I also think perhaps he thought that since he'd already been outed with graphic sex photos no less - why would the Gay Pride parade be worse for him than what was already out there?

I loved the juxtaposition of humorously wallowing Lito who had problems, but not of the terminal kind with Wolfie ghosting his cluster as he faced pretty good odds that he'd die. Personally, I didn't think he appeared deliberately to most of them.

I was laughing out loud, literally, during the beginning of the Lito/Sun scene. This show - it takes you on a rollercoaster ride every time.

I loved the clusters showing up as well. I wish my Netflix app had better controls, because I'd like to watch it in slo-mo to really look at Lita's cluster.

Oozing is just the right word for her! By this episode, I was starting to get a bit grossed out by her slithering all over Wolfgang, especially because you could tell that, while he wasn't shoving her off or anything, he clearly Was Not Into It. Like, back off, lady. Can you pepper spray someone who is groping you psychically?

It would have been really interesting to me if they had done a bonus episode from the perspective of Lila's cluster, but that probably would have been a logistical nightmare, since they would have had to shoot 7 additional sensates in different cities around the world? But it would have been interesting to see a different cluster dynamic and to have a little bit more insight into that cluster's motivation.

Maybe a behind-the-scenes ep between seasons?

Boy...this show is really campy sometimes. That shoot-out was like something from one of Lito's movies.

I don't care for Lila as a villain. She's not scary at all. I'm much more interested in Whispers.

Kala's "bring it, bitch" was fun.

So Nomi couldn't fight because she was knocked out, right?

Loved the cat pillows. Do not love Lito's whiny wallowing.

Interesting how tastes differ. I adore Lito's whiny wallowing. (Entirely leaving aside that in this one instance he has something -- the apparent end of his career -- worth being unhappy about.) Luxuriating in his misery has been established as a character note, and the actor does it so entertainingly (and it's written so amusingly), it's always a comedic highlight of the show.

Oh, it's definitely an established character trait, and can be entertaining sometimes, especially when "whining" is his skill used to help the others. But whew. It also gets old fast. I like Lito, even if he's my least favorite of the core eight, but damn, dude.

I didn't think about ever wanting a Lito/Sun scene like this, but not only was it hilarious in nature, but it also spoke out to these two characters and their personal ability to deal with loss. And that's probably why Lito went to Sun; he thinks it was to help her grieve and cry it out, but I also think he went so he could be told to tough it out. Both of them might have needed each other's comfort in that particular moment.

Same with the Kala/Will scene. I agree that he took on a big brother role with her, one that he hasn't taken on with others, but that's due to Kala's naivety and how she seems younger than the others due to lack of experience. I'm glad he pointed out to her about her feelings for Wolfgang.

I also agree that I'm annoyed by Felix this season. I'm not even sure why, because he's the exact same person he was in season 1 and I adored him then. Maybe seeing way more of Wolfgang's interactions with the cluster has made Felix pale in comparison.

I loved listening to Hernando's analysis of Lito and his mother's favourite film. Also kind of funny to see Lito randomly walking into random scenes with his cluster. That was a nice sight gag.

Lila's pretty terrible. Getting Sebastian to think Wolfgang has a hit out on him, and her excuse is about Kindergarten Playground Secrets? Getting Sebastian to turn on Wolfgang is the same as a boy tugging on a girl's pigtails to let her to know that he likes her. Wow.

Kind of funny to see how Capheus is being ridiculed for going into politics by the gang member. His storyline is still the least interesting to me, though. I thought I'd like it, but I figured out that I only like Capheus and Jeta. I sometimes like his girlfriend, Zakia. I just don't think the politics storyline is going to go anywhere good.

The final sequence of events was, once again, very strong. I think Wolfgang was appearing to all of them as a final goodbye. Whether he did it deliberately or not, he knew that he was going into a very dangerous situation. But they all knew something was wrong when he appeared and they stood by his side. That is what I love about the cluster; they're all there for each other, for the good and the bad; for the small events and the much larger ones. This season has been so strong in that sense. Also, Kala's "bring it, bitch" and her setting off a mini explosion was exactly the moment I've been waiting from her. That fight sequence with both clusters was awesome.

I get why they wanted to have Nomi out of the picture for the sequence and, in a way, it was a neat idea to try out. Having Bug and Amanita still be in contact with Riley, even without Nomi, was so different to see, and something I never expected to ever see. It allowed the show to prove that supporting, non-sensate characters can be very helpful and are important too.

I think it's maybe because Felix still has the same youthful nihilism they both had at the beginning of the first season. He doesn't care about anything except Wolfgang (and drugs and sex). Wolfgang, meanwhile, has since put his criminal and fighting skills to use in service to seven other people he has also come to see as family. He has fallen in love. He has a mission to take down an enterprise that is after his new family. Wolfgang is not completely Mr. self esteem yet, but Felix's attitude is still on the level of "let's provoke a fight" or "let's provoke killers" just for the lulz and the adrenaline rush. He learned nothing from his near-death experience. That's why Felix annoys me, anyway. I still appreciate his loyalty to Wolfgang, but can he please not drag Wolfgang into his pointless shit-stirring? The man has enough actual shit-stirring he has to survive.

Wait, did I miss something? How can Jonah visit with all the members of this cluster? I thought you had to make eye contact with them to do it. The only ones he's met are Will and Nomi, right? Yet Kala and Riley, at least, seemed able to see and hear him in that opening scene. Was it just a bit of narrative shorthand, instead of showing them reacting to Will or Nomi repeating what Jonah said? In the words of Amanita, "I'm confused."

I'm glad Capheus is running for office, but I'm sure it will end up a disaster. Those campaign ads, though. Not even the extreme right bullshit artists would lie as blatantly as that. Man, African politics really are something else. But then, when being in office usually means you can enrich yourself without limit, I guess a lot of people are prepared to cut any corners they can.

His old nemesis turning up and being kind of friendly was a surprise. I liked it, though. The guy is a nutcase, but he loves being talked about as part of this "legendary" rivalry. That was quite cool.

Lito in his onesie was hilarious. Lito lying in the street, "practicing for [his] future as a homeless and unemployable failure," sobbing and feeling sorry for himself was honestly the funniest crying scene I've seen since "I think I lost a flipflop" in season one. God, I love his melodramatic reactions, and I loved seeing Hernando and Daniella seemingly say, 'well, I guess we just have to wait for the meltdown'. And Sun reacting in her deadpan way just made it all even funnier.

I sometimes wonder if the Wachowskis deliberately decided which sensates would have stronger links, before the show started. Obviously, Will/Riley and Wolfgang/Kala were planned. But I was rewatching season 1, and realised Sun is the first sensate Lito connects with, and he experiences her period pains and her upset over her family. Now she's the one he goes to when his career is going down the toilet. Not that it's a romantic connection, but I wonder whether they mean for it to be stronger. Or it could be that they realised how great it is when Miguel Angel Silvestre is flailing all over the place, and Doona Bae is sitting still and silent.

For some reason. I really love it when Wolfgang protects Will, or Lito, or any of the others, really. Because he puts on such a cold facade in his day to day life, it always makes me smile when he shows how much he cares. Especially when it's a real boy scout of a cop that he cares about. And when he needs help himself, he won't even ask.

I also loved the bit with Amanita and Riley 'meeting'. It's so easy to forget that the only two who have met are Riley and Will, and that Amanita doesn't even know what most of them look like. I like that the show took a second to sit in that moment.

The cluster fight, after Wolfgang rejected Lila, was pretty amazing. It's things like that that remind you just how innovative the Wachowskis have been, particularly when filming action scenes.

I find that impressive, also. The show is clearly taking his issue very seriously, and they manage to do that without making it a drag for viewers. Great writing, great acting, and ye gods, the cinematography on this show....

An entire city of sensates sounds like a nice idea (minus the genocide or forced relocation of the sapiens who might be there already), but the more I think about it, the more it seems like it would be such chaos! Unless they learn not to pop in on each other unbidden, I don't know how any of them would be able to take the constant interruptions. All that eye contact, even with strangers on the street-- it would become a tangled mess!

It seems like our cluster is all love, but we've seen that not every other sensate out there is so enjoyable to have in your life to the same degree.

I like Capheus, but I agree the weakness of his story is that they don't use him as much as a source of support and aid for the other characters. He needs to be better integrated with the rest of the group. This was Kala's problem in Season 1, and they've done some work to fix it in S2, so I'm hoping they will really give more attention to that with Capheus in S3.

Nairobi is probably the hardest city to film in and they had get the "new" Capheus up to speed, so I can see behind-the-scenes reasons he's not as integrated.  But, yes, he needs to be support and aid, too.

That last sequence was amazing. Both Clusters going after each other like that, loved the way it was shot though.

I loved that Wolfgang refused to pander to Lila's bullshit and she showed her true colours. Her plan is completely insane though and won't work. Kala saying 'bring it bitch' was a highlight too.

Some good individual scenes in this episode - Sun/Lito, Will/Kala, Riley/Amanita etc. Too bad Nomi knocked herself out before the big confrontation scene though.

I liked Hernando's analysis to Daniela about why Lito watches From Here to Eternity when he's depressed though.

Capheus's politics storyline is going to end in disaster, isn't it? It's already off to smear campaign and guys pulling guns on him when he's trying to sleep. Something far worse has got to happen.

The reasons for Jonas being alive are interesting enough and I do like that Whispers is also at something of a disadvantage too, 9/10

Capheus dopey big smile was the best. That's what I love about his character, this cheerfulness. There has been a lot less of it this season.

This episode had a lot of great moments, but this has become one of my favorites of the season. I wasn't sure about the new actor in the Christmas special, but he's really grown on me. He seems like a better fit for Capheus's story this season than the original actor would've been. This Capheus seems less exuberant, so it cracked me up that while the other sensates reacted to Wolfgang's sudden appearance with confusion or concern, Capheus busted out a sunny smile and was just happy to see him.

I had to laugh at Sun's exasperation with Lito. I think they both have reason to be upset and they're allowed to be sad or distraught or however they feel, but I also get why Sun, who has lost her mother, her father, and her brother and is now a fugitive who is being hunted by the police, is a little impatient with Lito's melodramatic crying. Even though he has lost his career and his fans because people are fucking close minded bigots, as she pointed out, he still has a boyfriend who loves him, a friend who was willing to marry a dirtbag who beat the shit out of her to protect Lito, and a mother who loves him and is supportive of him. That's a lot more than she has so I understand why she told him to stop crying.

I was cracking up at Sun and Lito in the love motel. Between his onesie and the way he looked at the cartoon character pillows, that scene was just so funny to watch. And that's even before you throw in Sun's eyerolls. But I also love that even when he was down in the dumps and wallowing in self pity, he still popped in to tell Kala that Rajan was obviously lying and then casually mentioned his six months of bartending training for his movie Blood Stained Tequila while eating a banana. When Hernando was talking about Lito to Dani while they were watching From Here to Eternity, I was really hoping that Lito would pull an Eric Foreman and say, "You know I can hear you, right?"

Loved Wolfgang easily opening Milton's safe with the explanation "I like safes." The entire episode, I wanted to know what was in the folders that Will took. And was Will feeling sorry for Whispers for a second there when he realized that Whispers is just as trapped as they are? One thing I love about Wolfgang is that whenever he senses anyone in his cluster needs help, he pops over immediately (like when Joaquin confronted Lito in the episode before this one). But what makes me sad is that he doesn't ask the others for help, which they would all gladly give. The same thing happened last season when he went to take out his cousin and his uncle. He did go say goodbye to Kala but he didn't go to anyone else to ask for help.

ITA that Capheus smiling happily and saying, "Hello!" when Wolfgang appeared to him was awesome. He looked so genuinely pleased to see Wolfgang, which I really loved.

Lila is a real piece of work. First she hires a hitman to kill her boyfriend, then she frames Wolfgang for the hit. If I were Wolfgang, I wouldn't have wanted to eat or drink anything they brought to me in that restaurant. My biggest issue is that Wolfgang didn't snap Lila's neck before he left. Come on, Wolfie, it only would have taken a few extra seconds!

Love that Neets finally got to see Riley. It must be strange for her to know so much about the others but not know what most of them look like. But I was annoyed when Nomi woke up Sun and her explanation was that she gets confused with time zones. Uh, girl, there's really no excuse for that these days. Your phone will tell you what time it is anywhere else in the world. It's not rocket science.

Superpower said he could get offed by the Bossman just for talking to Capheus. If that's true, then why did he take him out in public next to the train to have this conversation?

While I think that Capheus running for office is noble, I don't think he has the stomach for it. He was already upset by the smaller things (the photoshopped Mandela picture, the smear ad about him not being a good bus driver) so imagine how upset he's going to be when one of those "courage" signs is defaced or a negative word used underneath his likeness.

I loved the image of everyone in the alley with Wolfgang spread out and then gathering behind him single file. The shot of them coming out behind him at the restaurant (and Lila's cluster doing the same) was a good bookend.

I truly don't understand Lila's endgame and/or why she needed Wolfgang's participation (or death) to pursue it? Anyone?

A home of our own,  if you aren't with us you're against us.

More specifically they needed a leader and Lila thought Wolfgang with his violent tendencies and mobster past but also his quick mind fit the bill.

She isn't completely wrong.  Wolfgang....and his cluster would make good leaders.  All in their own way are built to lead.

But he made it clear, he wasn't into it - or her - but he wasn't standing in anyone's way either. He was just acting as a passive bystander. ie 'You leave me alone, I'll leave you alone.' I'm clueless as to why he had to participate OR DIE!

It's the if youre not with us you're against us mentality.  Plus she was giving up people to Whispers as a safety net.  There is no logical reason.  If he wasn't going to be a part of her plan then he was in the way of it.

This was absolutely one of my favorite episodes in the history of the show. And I must have watched the segment of Lito sobbing to Sun in his onesie three times in a row before proceeding, because I was laughing so hard. I love Lito so damn much. Sun's deadpan reactions to Lito weeping in the street to practice homelessness or his sobbing on her bed were the best things ever. As were her eyerolls when she met with Nomi and realized he was there again. And the end of the scene with Lito was so moving to me -- she would never lie down on a bed and cry. But Lito gave her the opportunity to do so... and not to be alone while she did it. Also, him handing her the kitty pillow was so freaking adorable (as was him reaching behind him for an even FATTER kitty pillow to hug.

Seriously, they could make a show all about Lito and Sun, and I would totally watch that shit. Although, of course, I love all the sensates in our cluster. And the scene between Will and Kala was one of my favorites to date as well. I loved how matter-of-fact she was, how caring and smart as she checked his vitals and was able to give him both scientific and loving reasons for him to put away the heroin. I also loved Will with Kala as well -- as others have noted, she feels very much like his little sister. I love scenes like these and they make the show for me.

I also loved the fact that Wolfy thought he was going to die, and simply and poignantly visited his cluster just to see them one last time. And perhaps -- to ask for help in the only way he could (without admitting it)?

Lila's a tiresome character (the femme fatale act is a little cliched for me here), but I did like the realization that she is trapped, too, and is trying to get away to earn her own life. However, her plan was just as toxic as she is -- the humans would be driven out or sacrificed so that she could take over a major city for her own kind? Ugh. And as others pointed out, it was completely unnecessary. With their skills and money, it would be all too easy for a group of sensates to purchase and take over an entire town -- or build one. But I loved Wolfgang reaffirming that he is part of a bigger picture -- that he is a Berliner, not just a sensate, and that his city will not bow down to her.

The final sequence of the cluster massing silently behind Wolfgang and wordlessly joining him was absolutely gorgeous. And I loved the final, brutal fight and the choreography and camerawork. I loved seeing cluster versus cluster, seeing everyone react to a blow en masse in one moment, then substitute in and out for each other depending on their abilities from second to second. I love the quick switches of Wolfgang with Will and Sun in the fight, and the way Wolfy's cluster disappeared seamlessly behind him even as hers did so behind her.

Just an incredibly funny, exciting episode. One of my absolute favorites. I watched it again immediately. I love this show so much, and am devastated that I'm nearing its end. (Sigh)
