The Wendy Williams Show - General Discussion

Well, it's finally happened, something Wendy said has finally cost her. No more "Chevy Hot Seat" for the poor guests. Hopefully now that one sponsor has had the balls, there's another ready to pull the plug over her pro-DV/always-blame-the-victim bs. I'm curious if she'll address it with a "woe is me for speaking my mind" performance or make zero mention of anything?

  • Love 4

If this article is true, today's episode show be verrrrrrry good.  I think losing her sponsorship is bullshit.  Wendy is not anti NAACP and she's not anti HBCU.  I'd actually respect her if she stuck to her guns.  I think knee jerk boycotts to people's comments like this is part of 'PC culture run amok' that has resulted in Donald Trump being close to the presidency.

It's kind of hypocritical of Chevy - the mess that Wendy peddles every day is part of her brand, and part of the reason we love her.  I like her show precisely because she says what she thinks and goes off script and says things that sometimes are yes, kinda dumb.  Chevy doesn't have a problem with the million other trashy things Wendy says about various black people, but merely wondering about the need for a NAACP gets her in hot water?  Seems like the thought police to me...

In April of this year, The Wendy Williams show struck an all-inclusive deal with Chevrolet, Carat Media and ACE Media Corp. to include on-air promotion of the 2016 Chevy Malibu. The activation included custom digital content, social media marketing, and was set to continue for the rest of the year.

Not anymore.

Our sources say that Wendy has been “sobbing all week” over the loss, although she refuses to apologize.

We’re not sure who exactly pulled the plug, but it should be noted that Andrea Holmes Thompkins, President and CEO of ACE Media Corp (the company responsible for facilitating the Chevy partnership), graduated from Howard University.

Howard University?  Whoops.  Wendy, you in danger girl.

Earlier, someone else and I called Wendy an "idiot" for making those comments.  So stupid and uninformed.  So pandering.  Finally someone noticed.  This is important because her white fans probably think she knows what she is talking about and will adopt her statements.  Her "co-hosts (her audience), always agree with her.  The whites in the audience seem to see her as the arbitrator of all things Black.  They even applaud her "designs" which do not look good on Suzanne or Wendy.  Exception - there was one green dress the looked OK on Wendy.

Not all of her white viewers think that way. I roll my eyes at so much of what she says especially her most recent comments. I do agree that her "designs" don't seem to look good on anyone. I tuned in for a bit during her last HSN visit and actually saw some items that didn't have any of those horrid prints she seems to think are so great for her line over there.

Now I know why most of you call Wendy an idiot. She made a blanket statement today that takes the cake.

NO, Wendy, not all people who don't own an animal are heartless. That's a stupid generalization...and no need to publicly shame Suzanne because she doesn't want a pet. There are many reasons someone may not want a pet (including allergies), or they just might not want the responsibility of caring for an animal. Stop saying stupid shit, Wendy, okay?

Any thoughts about Wendy thinking she's part of the foundation of hip hop?

Lol.  Um. Ok.  That's like claiming to be part of history because you were the desk clerk on duty at the Lorraine Motel on April 4, 1968.  In the most peripheral of ways.  If she means that she was a witness to the birth of a genre and had a front row seat, I'ma let her live.  She had a job centered around playing/knowing music and was of the exact generation hip hop targeted when it began.   If she's trying to make it sound like she made programming decisions or was pivotal in the success of artists.......

When-Anyone-Starts-Sentence-Im-Racist.gi

She's *part of the foundation* the same way any of us who were in high school/college 30 years ago are.

Re: Roland Martin interview.  I noticed that Wendy did not replay her nonsense statements and behaved very humbled.  She took direction well, "If you don't know anything about it don't say say anything.  She only asked questioned and nodded her head.  If she keeps it up she won't have much of a monologue. They would need to pull a segment almost every day.  Roland informed an audience that they had been misinformed but he didn't give Wendy a real smackdown.

Wendy is from a family of educators, she knows good and gottam well that the reasons HBCUs became necessary were because of the exclusionary policies of colleges and universities that wouldn't accept qualified black applicants.  For her to sound all - hey can't we just forget about that old pesky time and become one America is a sweet sentiment but incomplete and naive as fuck.    I think we can become one America, but I'll be damned if I listen to another black woman say let's put aside every sacrifice my and her ancestors ever made for the sole benefit of our collective success.  I've never heard a descendant of a holocaust survivor say you know what, that was 80 years ago, let's just move on already.  And I never should.

I was as mad as you were.  She is not helping the situation she is inflaming Trump and his ilk.  This talk, in the month of more legalized murders by officers is horrendous.  It should be noted that HBCUs admit people of all races.

I don't like animals living in my house.  There I have said it.  I do think that if you have a pet you should treat it right and make sure it has everything it needs including medical care.  She never spoke that way before she got her own dog.

Re: Wendy's Bazaar.  Why are only "a portion" of the profits being donated to Dress for Success?  That could be 5%.  The show already expensed out the clothes or the clothes were free from designers.  Do you really need the money?  Why not let your fans enjoy  buying some of your stuff and really help charity.  Someone just gifted you a diamond and sapphire Joan Rivers jewelry.  What else have you been gifted that we don't know about.  Are you so really so hard up that you cannot donate it all to charity.  Didn't you tell us that you have the security of a long term contract?  When the say a "portion" rather than a specific percentage you just know it is very small but you what people to think they are helping charity when you make a purchase.

  • Love 5

No, but because Wendy wore them, she thinks that makes it extra special. And I'm not impressed with "a portion of the proceeds" going to charity. What about the rest of the money? Where does it go? In Wendy's pockets? They are used clothes and shoes for gods sake.  She is a very wealthy lady. In my opinion, ALL of it should go to charity.

Calm down Leslie Jones! Lol.

Ha!  I love Leslie.  Wendy looked shell shocked.

Is Wendy really on vacation until September?  I'm going to miss the show.

Uhhh... did Wendy just give Leslie Jones used shoes?  Wendy, you are so tacky, I love it.

It is actually 50% to benefit dress for success. I guess the rest covers the expense of managing the auctions.

Pleeese.......  It doesn't cost that much to put stuff on line.  Wendy just said that anything that isn't sold she'll she just take back for herself.  If she was serious about the charity part she would donate them to a charity that could sell them in a brick and mortar store.  Those unsold clothes will probably be posted on another Bazzar in the future.

Actually, I have sold on Ebay and the fees are pretty high.

I would estimate around 20% plus she has to pay the people who are actually doing the auction (auction cause)

While I agree that she did not pay for anything, she is still doing her part for charity.

Kim Kardashian, in contrast only donates 20% and it is to her mother church thus triple dipping!

I wonder if wendy gets a deduction on her taxes.

Plus, she freely admits that she loves her freebies.

Speaking of which, how much was that pin the producers got her for her birthday?

It had to be at least 10 k, imo.

Wendy still could have donated the profits (the money after the expenses). The clothes were already expensed out from the production company.  Won't they be getting a tax deduction for the donation anyway?  For me, comparisons to the Kardasions isn't a compliment.  Not fans of them; They seem to have no limit to money grubbing. Wasn't their empire started by pimping the daughter's sex tape into business a variety of business deals and TV shows?  The get paid for everything right?   Wearing clothes, claiming to use cosmetics, Liquors Ect.  I read about them/can't escape them but I've never watched any of their shows so I may be very wrong about the Kardashions.  I don't know how to spell their last name and I'm on a iPad so searching was too hard.

Was Jason the one who had a bad case of sciatica at one point?

So Wendy is blaming her crap on the writers?

That is bullshit, nobody forced her to read that teleprompter and it seems to me that she add libbed as well.

Is suzanne responsible for content as well?

Well she sacked Lorraine in season one for no reason, so I can't see why anyone would expect loyalty there.

I was thinking that whoever's job it is to bring up the hot topic du jour in the morning production meeting couldn't avoid the trending controversy of Jesse Williams' speech.   Then maybe a self-admitted rebel/black sheep like Wendy thought a "reverse discrimination" stance would not only garner support but kick off an interesting discussion.   She's one of the executive producers, who's gonna be the one to tell the empress she's naked?    Sad.  Seems like either way, it's a high risk job.

I would bet my life that she didn't get rid of him. If there was dumping involved, I bet he did the dumping.  She's just so damn ridiculous when it comes to relationships that I just don't see her leaving him.

Well if he scares the staff and there is talk of lawsuits. I bet she would get rid of his big ass at least on a professional level.

On the personal level, nah.

If a video of your husband with another person does not motivate you to kick him to the curb. Nothing will, imo.

Also it is probably cheaper to keep him...

Was this when she was pregnant and he was cheating or recently?  What a piece of crapola this guy is. And I agree, she will stay with him.

I think I mentioned before that the local FOX/NBC station here aired Wendy on their NBC channel. Well, over the Summer there's been commercials for Harry Connick's new talk show to air in the slot Wendy has been. I thought they might be moving her to another time or over to their FOX or even CW station which they also run the local one. Checking the schedule for next week and Wendy's show is nowhere in sight on any local station with the only channel showing it for me to see on TV BET at 2am.  If I decide to watch when the new season starts I guess it will be a day late or watching uploads of segments on YouTube. In addition to Harry airing in Wendy's slot they also have his show airing at a different time on their FOX station.

Jaded this is the listings page.   NYC can see at 10 am on Fox, but click on the change zip code box to see where they moved it to for you.

It got moved off the air locally here. It's no longer airing on any station in my area. The show didn't start airing here originally until Season 2 or 3 and it's gone again. They could have moved her to the FOX station instead of airing Harry's show a 2nd there in addition to the NBC airing.

Jaded, looks like you & I might be in the same area. All they're doing is running repeats on 33 & BET.

Wow I should have checked back with you all during the break.  Jason gone?  I liked him.  To have him fired for her show is just stupid.  She knew darn well what she was reading and has gone the route of "white friendly".  While looking at all your links this past month I googled Jason/fired and saw an article on the PTB wanting Big Kev out.  Following links to that I found an interview with her on late night talk show with her telling the host that little Kev walked in on Wendy giving big Kev a bj and they did not stop.  They kept going.  Their door was open and everything.  That boy will need life therapy.  I wonder if this was before or after his drug use.  Did we also think that the adult male who got Kevin into the drugs was her nephew?

Just a mess!

I saw that interview and always thought that was part of her stand up comedy routine, she brought it up on the talk show, she was trying so hard to be funny. It fell flat. The show host (I think it was Jimmy Kimmel?) looked horrified.  If it is a true story, then she is disgusting and that is kind of borderline child abuse.

Yes, she did say it was a family member that got her son in to drugs.
