They talked about how the discussion led to no, and this is what I gleaned: MRL thought there'd be a third season but in April (significant given the Ari situation) Maney was pitching to TLC having Sweatney go with MRL to Florida, etc, but TLC wanted to "push the Roy/Whitney thing, AGAIN," and Roy just wanted to keep it in the friend-zone, so MRL declined. 

Ends with how they encouraged her to apply for the open producer's job because it would keep MRL in the show, but TLC didn't like that idea because it would tie her down too much to go to Hawaii etc, and TLC's business supersedes real life. (So much for the bullshit about how she didn't know about the producer job. Also more support for how the Fitness Marshall gig was fake.)

That Newsweek article reads like a TLC press release (and I'm sure that's what it's based on).  No attempt to seek comment from Avi.  But they did  do a good job of taking shots at Whitney for missing red flags, saying "most people would . . . ", etc.)

That puts the entire Avi storyline in an extremely suspicious light.  

I suggested in one of the episode threads that Whitney either took one of her casual fuck-buddies (or specifically solicited a fuck-buddy) and twisted it into looking like a cheating situation just to have a story line for this season.  We now know that's precisely what TLC was looking for.  

The only question now for me is how much TLC supports Whitney's vigilantism against this guy.

I think she's using the opportunity because the episode just aired about it. Too bad that it takes soooo long for the episodes to air. I wish they'd film one week and air it the next week--so it'd be more current fake reality tv. Agree. Re whether the Newsweek piece tells us who he is: not really. No one who hasn't read the posts here said "Oh, THAT guy." He's not a household name. They left it to readers to google him. IMO that's not really what I think their headline suggests a reader would get from the piece. But maybe that's just me. ?

Newsweek... isn't what it used to be. One of their senior writers has been involved in a series of very interesting exploits, one of them involving tentacle porn. They run quite a few covers that look like I photoshopped them myself, and their junior writers turn out this type of tabloid trash all the time. I wasn't surprised when I saw this pop up. The fact that it's Newsweek won't have as much impact as it would if it had been... I don't know, Time, WaPo or something like that.

The whole live feed seemed like a pre-scripted talking points thing for her to try to put out this dumpster fire aftermath from the stalking episode. "I had sex last night" sounded a lot like "Here! Go chase this and forget about the Avi nothingburger!" I didn't think she was any more touchy with Allison than she gets with anyone else-- she seems like an equal opportunity groper to me, but I'm terrible with body language.

 The fact that she turned down the chance for landing a real job in a field that she likes in favor of continuing her reality show (that’s not going to last) is pathetic.  I’ve heard it’s pretty difficult to break into radio so throwing the opportunity away seems incredibly shortsighted.

According to Nada herself they were "almost" engaged which is not a thing. Whit was also pretty sure she was about to be engaged as well with a man she apparently barely knew.

I feel pretty confident that Avi is not a nice guy but before we tear him up for being a cheater and a fraud maybe we should keep in mind that Nada and Whit were also completely deluded about the seriousness of their relationship, "almost engaged" and "fiancee" are not the same thing.

I noticed similar weasel words on the exclusivity of their relationship, "He said he didn't want ME seeing anyone else", many men have used the same excuse, well I didn't want you seeing anyone else but I didn't say I wasn't going to see anyone else".

I believe Avi was probably preying on this women because they were lonely, desperate and easily manipulated and that makes him not a good person but he is also not fully responsible the delusions that they had, "almost engaged" is not a relationship status, it's a dream. He might have not tried to dissuade her of this dream because it made it easier to manipulate  but he either proposed or didn't and it sure sounds like he didn't.

It's pretty common to go ABD (All But Dissertation) and stop. I was envious of a doctoral cohort that was going to finish 'on time' (read: in the 3 years you're "supposed" to finish - at least on your TA contract, anyway), and she was also publishing and running around to conferences (she's childless and lives with her parents, so she really lucked out with the financial/responsibility areas). She started her dissertation, and honestly has no idea when she'll finish collecting data and analyzing it - much less writing everything up. I asked a mutual friend what was going on, and he said, "Girl, she just got damn LAZY." It's a trap that many fall into, especially with responsibilities like family and FT work.

Jesus Christ already - is your life THAT boring that you have to reinvent your own given name? I had a college roommate as an undergrad who pronounced her name "Shah-KNOWN." I never saw her DL of her mail, so I thought it was spelled "Chenon" or "Shanoun" or maybe something Gaelic, I don't know. About halfway through the semester, a family member called the apartment and asked for "Shannon" and we had no damn clue who they were asking for. ???

This reminds me of my unmarried daughter telling me she's "not single" since she has a boyfriend. You're married or you're single. You're engaged or you're not. These days girls are trying to make everything bigger than it is and IMO it doesn't serve them well.

Didn't Nada explain that they were planning an engagement party, new dress and all, and he no-showed? Sounds like it wasn't going to be called an engagement until the party.

Sadly for her, she married into a family of passive-aggressives who say they can't remember and they all call her Loe-rah. I say it the way she told me to which is LARE-uh, with too much emphasis on the first syllable, which is her own fault. ?
