looking for the answers to some long time DCC secrets....

1) Anybody know when did the first DCC start doing the jump split - since Judy said it wasn't in the 1980s ?

Jump splits have been around since '89. [snip]

Jump splits, I believe were added to Show Group numbers first, in the mid 80s, and then extended to the full squad shortly after. They were part of choreography my rookie year, but they weren't foreign to me. I did them in high school and on my college dance team. They are easier than they look. It's mind over matter.

I'm not sure that either the Cowboys organization or CMT are responsible for the Wikipedia entry or its editing. I did see a notation which calls into question its validity, the notation appears as follows:

"This article has multiple issues. Please help improve it or discuss these issues on the talk page. (Learn how and when to remove these template messages). This article relies too much on references to primary sources. (September 2012). This article needs additional citations for verification. (September 2012)."

Assuming (which I hate to do) that it is a third party, they don't have any more/less information than do the general public at this point.  If it is the Cowboys or CMT maintaining the entry, of course it is going to include everyone listed.  They are smart enough not to slip up and give away more or different information on a Wiki than has been revealed on the show :)

I think Wikipedia had Emily Roslyn (the one w/ the funny eyes - but I think she was gorgeous her second time in TC, just had bad dance technique) as being on the team for a few weeks last year when she was cut in TC.  It is not a reliable list of who's on the squad.

I was joking around when I made the comment about her teeth and voice. I admit I did and still do not understand her appeal, but I am not the only person who watches the show or is a fan. I am sure there is some reasoning behind her cut behind the scenes we not have heard.

Oh definitely. I never really liked or disliked Heather. The thing is I could totally see the teeth and voice thing being a reason why they didn't take her back lol.

Probably included back when their presence was still up in the air. They're obviously gone.

Only thing we've heard is the same as everyone else. Jenna and Holly drinking with players (Holly being underaged) and Erica is still a toss up, but guesses are something they couldn't legally addresses because she was edited out of the group leader segment.

Thanks for the feedback.

I just rewatched for the 4th time- a couple thoughts: overall they gloss over too many details.

1. who is that vet w/ the rookies in the Kitty workshop?

2. we see flashes of Holly, but none  Erica -I miss her!!! Wondering if she was even there-- but  I saw a glimpse of her at the end when they do "pink & blue".

3. did you catch Judy saying "I just don't really like her" after they have Alexandria in the office? Yikes!! One of my top 5 Rookies.

4. Miranda loves her before hair a little too much at the salon- a little attitude- watch it!

5. Brianna- they told you that you're tall & need to use your plié- but I've yet to see her do it- especially where she needed most in Jordan's coreo!

**a few need some Michelle Keys boot camp!!

If you count the number of people listed in Wiki, you will notice it is listed at 39... ( there are actually 36 this year. ).

If you take into account that it was the HOF when this broke with Holly, and also Erica ( injured list), that only leaves one other not accounted for from the list verses " real team" set up.. ( was trying to figure out who it was... runs back to the list... )

/edit- I just remembered there were 37 on the team ... sorry about that... Numbers add up..

I didn't lie & I didn't deny what our social media department posts. Things change, revisions are made. Some are brought to the public and some are not up for discussion. If you are pissed for lack of info or so compelled to know the truth....ask the subject at hand. Everyone hear has a theory, plot or speculation and I'll tell you none of them are correct. You only see a smidgen of what happens on tv because there's not enough hours in the day.

The only thing that matters is that the TEAM understands the situations and are there to carry on with the season. Therefore, I say it again...DCC is moving onward and upward.

The dcc is part of a reality show, if they don't want people to know the truth or want people to stop gossiping then don't do a reality show. Does the dcc organization understand they are "world known" simply because they have a reality show. Ugh, this stuck up attitude from the dcc made me delete it from my dvr.

Agree. This is the price of fame. People want answers. We aren't necessarily entitled to those answers, but we still want them. I'm confident that if this isn't addressed on TV, the truth will come out somehow.

That being said it does really bother me that the DCC are so committed to upholding a false image of the women on their team. Like... none of these people are perfect. It would be refreshing, as a viewer, to have the organization acknowledge that.

Oh, good!  I was questioning my hearing, because I thought she said she did really like her.  I still think it's odd that they called Alexandria into the office about her hair in her face during the hip-hop dance.  It didn't seem to be in her face during the regular dances, so why did it matter?

Anybody else love the hairstylist?  He didn't make any major changes and everyone looked so good!

Yeah - she gives me a Kelli Pickler vibe.  Trying to get attention and laughs w/ her southern accent and her whole "look at little ol' me trying to understand the crazy ways of these big city folk" attitude.   I just don't know if it's genuine if that makes sense - like more of an act of her always trying to be funny and cute.

People do, but we're never going to get all the answers simply because it's a reality show. That doesn't necessarily mean "real." It's all entertainment.

To me, she tries too hard.  I do not like the way she dances either and she is the point person for the team. (smh) She gets out danced by Jenna, Jennelle, and Lacey, I do not know why they put her out front.  She appears to be like a kiss up to Kelli and Judy.

It's genuine Eastern Ky. Kashara was in the pageant circuit for years, and that's truly her. Her personality and accent are just that big. She's not trying to change for anybody. She's just like a whole lot of people who have that Appalachian accent, smart, educated, just authentic to their roots. If she came in speaking any other way, she'd be fake, but this is Kashara.

Eh, Im on the fence with the stylist - sometimes he seems waaaaaaaaay too yes man to Kelli. Sometimes he'll totally slap her down on something that would look awful on the girl, but too often he's like 'yes yes yes' to whatever she's saying even when it sounds awful. I don't get why he's on the judges panel either. yeah, he can have an opinion on if they can be given 'the look', or at least in regards to hair, but dance wise etc, he kinda makes me roll my eyes

Eh, I'd disagree a little.  Maybe within the United States, but I guarantee if you ask most Brits/Europeans who the DCC are, they would look at you blankly.  Hell, I'm British and grew up in the States, in DC so obviously a Redskins girl, well aware of the Redskins/Cowboys rivalry, well aware of the Cowboys team, watched football every week during the season, and I had no idea about the DCC until I watched the show.  the DCC are nowhere near as world famous/world renowned as they'd like to think.

I have no doubt Kashara's accent is real. In my experience, people trying to fake it and play up the little ole Southern Belle thing usually go for a lighter, cuter accent (no offense to Kashara), unless they're just trying to be funny or over the top. She has an extremely thick accent. I can't vouch for her personality or anyone else's, but the accent seems real to me.

Yeah, but as Kelli always says, they want girls who have the whole package.  So I think that's why you have the trainer, the hairstylist, the media specialists, photographer, alumni, etc.  Different opinions based on different backgrounds.  It's worked so far:)

I desperately need someone to take Brianna and even Savannah (though to a much lesser degree and its likely just because she's so pale/angle of photo casting shadows on her decolletage) aside and teach them about foundation matching your neck.  I always feel the girls wear SO much makeup its like a mask, and they end up looking a decade older than they are, but regardless of how much you're wearing, face and neck should match!!  She's a gorgeous girl but that picture is all kinds of terrible makeup wise.

From the part of Kentucky she is from, her accent is very real.

In looking at the rookie photos two posts prior, that is NOT a flattering photo of Tara. It looks like Rich Piana came back to life and gave her his neck.

<snipped for brevity>

If we want answers and the show wants to pooh pooh away the ugliness, we must go to the guru that has the ability to root out the truth and I think he's right in Dallas, Texas.  He's famous for ripping apart the Bachelor / Bachelorette franchise with his spoilers.  Perhaps our good friend, RealitySteve, needs to take on a new reality show.  Anyone here have an "in" with Steve "RealitySteve" Carbone?  The "dirt" needs to be dug up.

There's a pic on twitter of the kickline where a person is calling out Christina's kick technique. It looks like she's digging into the shoulders of others, hunched over, crooked back leg...anyway, Kelli told her good eye.

I think Christina wouldn't have made it without the vet exit. She's just average at best, and her kick technique is just not there. Bless her heart, I think she may be a one and done.

Now, I was not a Miranda fan, but she can dance. To me, though, there are about six brunettes that are almost interchangeable from far away: Bess, Tess, Miranda, Kelsey, Rachel, and there's one more who is a rookie I believe.

I do believe the team will develop some standouts to replace the ones they had. It seems like a weak class, but someone could turn into a bad ass. Lauren maybe?

I wish they would have taken Kate or Katy. She would have been a great addition.

Really need Jenna's pop back front and center.  Say what you want about her, but she can dance.

I have been coming to this forum for years and reading the posts.  Never have I felt the need to comment.  However, I want to express my concern as I enjoy this site.  In the past this site has been very positive.  As of lately I feel it is turning negative.  With all of the speculation with Holly, Jenna and Erica some people have been down right nasty.  Some people think they are entitled to know everything.  Yes this is a reality show but the nature of it is that there are hundreds upon hundreds of hours of footage that fit into a weekly episode.  While we all know Erica was the original group leader it makes sense for them to name Kashara instead of having to talk for 10 mins about it.

I'm not posting in an attempt to bash anyone.  I just wanted to express how the comments are being perceived.

I do think it has been more negative here this year. Honestly, I haven't commented on that situation much because I don't care. I live here and haven't heard anything. If it was anything big, it would have at least been talked about. I'm not in the know by any means, but I'm sure SOMETHING would have been said.

I also think the show sucks this year. Yes I said it. It's been boring to watch this year. Same ol' same ol' except this time they drug each episode out even longer. I have a hard time believing this show is top rated.  Last year, I felt like I had vested interest in these girls because we got little bones. This year, we got nothing and now I couldn't care less. I LIVE FOR Dallas Cowboys football and I don't care. When you lose a true fan (I'm not saying I'm anyone super important, because I am sure the dcc, CMT, and anyone else with the show don't give a fling donkey about me), that means you probably want to readjust your formula. I haven't even watched episode five. I already know. Episode five rookie makeovers and first cut.

I think I'm done. I would have loved to meet the DCC, talk to them, meet Kelli and Judi, and see the Star. Now, I'm just whatever about it all.

I wanted to be a DCC since I was four. What does that say for a casual fan?

I think the show is grappling with the age of social media, similar to everyone else lol. Along with the tv show, social media helps the team reach a much wider audience. However, they can go back and edit the show, but they can't take back all of those instagram/Facebook/twitter posts that they blasted out to their fans. They can't hide the fact that 3 of their most popular and prominent dancers are suddenly missing, while they're simultaneously blasting out pics and videos of the team with them missing. So the question is, how (if) will they address it on the show?  I think the group leader switch (which appeared to be last minute) regarding Erica/Kashara is a hint that we won't see anything about the Erica situation but we'll see. It's up to the show and their right to show what they want, however, we all know it's out there at this point.

As for the show, it's kind of boring, but I think some of it is due to the show focusing heavily in the first few episodes on people who didn't make training camp and/or we know will get cut (Brianna). It's still interesting enough to keep my attention for now! I gave up on Big Brother (my summer reality show since 2001) weeks ago because it was so boring and had too much produced interference, but I'm still here lol.

The show this year IS boring. there was no need to drag the auditions over three episodes, and yet somehow even with dragging it all out, I still feel I know the girls less and less. I literally can't tell most of the TCCs apart.  I can tell Lauren and Brianna and Savannah, Kalyssa when close enough, but most of them? couldn't pick them out of a lineup, generic blondes and brunettes that seem really interchangeable for me. the ones I do recognise I can never remember the names of. this is the first year I've really struggled identifying the TCCs. there's something so...so many of them look too alike to me.  I also just find myself rolling my eyes at the 'this is the best year ever for talent' stuff. they say it every year (OFC) but this year for me it just rings so false. half the TCCs I don't know how they got to TC other than perhaps on looks. For instance Brianna was never going to make the team. she's too young (and very much looks and seems it) and too unpolished in her dance style. maybe in a couple years she'd be great - she's a beautiful girl and has some serious talent but she's not there yet- but her having a spot at TC stopped someone that might have actually stood a chance.    It feels sometimes she was brought to TC for the 'drama' of having to release her, and hopefully ensuring a future fan favourite when she comes back and auditions again.

Im also getting a little tired of the number of candidates that gush that they've wanted to be a DCC all their lives, they've been training for it blah blah but when they get to TC and struggle and are asked, have never taken a hip-hop class, or danced to the sort of music DCC uses, or seemingly had any experience with anything like the DCC style at all or worked on power within their dance.  If you really had wanted something all your life, wouldn't have prepared for it?  Every year there are girls claiming they want nothing but to be DCC since they were small, and every year those girls are utterly unprepared.

This.... big DITTO!

In their effort to freshen things up, I think they've gone overboard with too many changes at the same time.  But perhaps that was intentional.  They will get feedback loud and clear from fans as to what they liked, what they missed, what they should never, ever, ever, do again.  If so, next year (if there is one), will be completely different.

  • Love 2

I love the extended season this year and the additional time spent on auditions! We've always been saying we want to see more of auditions, and get to know more candidates, etc, so it seems producers are listening to us.

But hey, for those of you that have complained about it feeling dragged out: don't worry, maybe you'll get your wish and next year producers will go back to cramming all auditions into one episode and featuring like, one person.

  • Love 13

I liked the three episodes on the initial tryouts. I just think there wasn't enough focus on the actual training camp candidates. On one hand, CMT doesn't know who is going to make it, so there's only so much that can be done about that, but there was a lot of focus on people like Dayton, Briana (Titans), Lacey, and Katelyn, and none of them made it. I feel like I knew Kalyssa and Brianna coming into training camp and that's about it.

ETA: I knew Christina, Brennan, and Celinda as well but only due to prior seasons.

We have been saying we want more but with that we have been saying more dancing!!!! With three episodes focused on auditions it would have been great to see more of the solos! I know that's what I would want most! Maybe more from the kitty prep night, vets preparing their solos, just more on the solos all together!

THIS

I feel that what I didnt like about the three audition eps was that it felt dragged out becuse there was the same amount of dancing shown, but with a lot of nonsense filler - like the guy whose name I can't remember that was doing small backstage interviews (which were super cringey to me but I hate that sort of super fake 'reality' stuff) with some of the girls. Cut that nonsense out and we could have had waaaaaaaaaaaay more dancing.  I wanted to see more of the solos but we got the same snippety montage
