gik910 February 4, 2017 Share February 4, 2017 Drew looked really pretty at the start of this episode. Love Eric and his unrepentant nerdiness. So Dr. Wolf is basically a super smart Veronica ( I am totally ok with that choice). At least the Serbians are not the Dutch. Love Ramona. Knew that cliffhanger was coming. Probably my least favorite episode of the series (despite my love for Portia) but I absolutely want a second season. I enjoyed the half hour format. 1 4 Link to comment

Best line of the season finale: "I've known you, what, five minutes and already I'd rather have you kill me." I thought the way and places the season ended everyone was brilliant. Joel has been losing his mind since the start. Eric is a genius. (Skyler Gisando had great chemistry with Portia De Rossi) Shiela locked in the basement. But I am a zombie person and if Timothy Olyphant came a calling, I'd ditch my whole life to run away with him (well, maybe....yeah, I totally would). So I gave this show a shot. OMG - I love it. Olyphant is so versatile - from Raylan Givens to Joel. Amazing. I've never been a Drew Barrymore fan but her flippant yet practical and take charge way of dealing with her "situation" was perfect. I was unfamiliar with the actors who play Abby and Eric but they are great TV teenagers and not annoying or cloying like most TV teenagers. Except for that weird uneven, long lock of hair on Abby - what the fuck is that all about???? I could never stop staring at it when she was on screen. I can't wait for season two. 1 7 Link to comment
Potanical Pardon February 5, 2017 Share February 5, 2017 (edited) I'm starting my season rewatch mainly focused on how this disease got released and how Sheila got infected. I'm starting to suspect Eric isn't as innocent as he makes himself out to be and is a bit of a con artist manipulating everyone around him to think their own actions are their own ideas. He knows too much about everything. That red ball must be what contains their life...not necessarily a soul, but what makes them an alive human being. The show would be over if that ever gets resolved, but I do hope we get to see some future zombie successfully revert back. And I hope Loki returns somehow, I don't know how, but I want him to. And what is up with the hummingbirds, bird feeders, football (both as that lie and the QB in the past thing), beach and that spot on the mountain - those are going to come back somehow, all as repressed memories. Chaos Theory February 5, 2017 Share February 5, 2017 Not normally a comedy person but I will add this to the handful of comedies I genuinely enjoyed. I thought the lead four had real chemistry. Joel and Shiela were believable as a long married couple. Abby and Eric were both real finds. And the endinfing cliffhanger didn't annoy me, i am more then looking forward for a second season. 3 Link to comment

He gave me by far the most laughs throughout the series, his facial expressions and intonations were just spot on. I have only known from his guest appearance in Samantha Who before, where he played more of a straight man, so he was a real discovery for me here. You definitely need to watch JUSTIFIED. A superb series with great acting and writing. Timothy O is at his best and the man sure can do justice to a pair of jeans. I enjoyed Season 1 but for me, the MVP was Eric. Wonderful young actor. I didn't really like Justified so it took me a tick to recognize Olymphant. I thought he was hilarious in this and yes the stealth MVP. The show also hit pay dirt with its two teenage leads. I suppose they'll have to find a way to complete the faux-cure if only to stick with the "the longer she's dead, the hotter she gets" thing they are doing with Drew. She was a beige blob at the beginning, now she's all leather pants, red lipstick and better highlights. But if she keeps losing digits, that will kill the hotness. While I knew we wouldn't get all the answers, I was hoping for some. Like, how in the hell did she get infected? It's clearly a virus, and transmitted through bites, but not any other physical contact (or else Joel would have it by now) and not airborne (or else Abby would probably have it too). So where/how was Sheila infected? Why has no one else been infected without a bite? I want to know about the red ball, but I wasn't surprised that we didn't get an answer there. It's probably a key to something (I hope Joel is still holding on to Sheila's). 1 Link to comment

questionfear February 6, 2017 Share February 6, 2017 I have slightly mixed feelings. The show was absolutely hysterical, and I think it flowed better as "family trying to handle mom being a zombie" than when they were chasing down the cure. My hope is that S2 will be Sheila getting the "cure", and then the season can focus on the repercussions of all the murders in S1. It just felt snappier and more fun when they were able to really slapstick up the dark comedy, like with dead Dan in the foyer and the other cop chatting with them, and the whole Loki fight in the house. And NOTHING will beat the daughter finding Dan in the tub, and the ongoing "it's only the 2nd/3rd sketchiest thing to..." Honestly, I would watch an entire season of Joel and Sheila just bumbling along as a serial killer/zombie pair. I blasted through the season in one weekend because I couldn't stop laughing. 1 1 Link to comment

I've only ever seen him in drama, (besides his Conan appearances, where he is awesome) or as Todd Gaines, the hot drug dealer-- where he was funny in a darkish way. The kid playing Eric was also a really pleasant surprise-- and according to IMDB-- he played the young Shawn in "Psych" flashbacks-- so I retroactively love him now. I like the cliffhanger ending, I'm assuming they feel good about their chances for renewal with an ending like that. 1 1 Link to comment

She was the only one to drink it and she acted like her stomach hurt as she was drinking it. At least they now know how to make a cure, but it's up to Abby and Eric to find some "Serbian bile" to complete it. I guess it would harder for them to try and get Novak's mom drunk! Sheila's distraught over Joel saying that he would finish her off with a baseball bat was hilarious. If nothing else, it just fails on a creative level, Joel! Do something different! Overall, pretty fun series. It felt like a bizarre hybrid of iZombie and Dexter, which worked better then I expected. Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant were fantastic, and the actors playing both Abby and Eric were major fines too. I'm sure Netflix will renew it, so I can't wait to see more! 1 Link to comment

Agree, he turned out to be one of the most compelling actors/characters on the show. He's played some bit parts and small roles in things I've seen but I have no recollection of him. Glad he got a role that really allowed him to stand out. The whole series was a veritable "Hey look who it is!" fest. From Grace Zabriskie to Tom Lennon to Ramona Young to Oswald Patton . . . I don't think there was a single actor besides Liv Hewson (Abby) who I didn't know from something else. Link to comment

I agree with everyone else about how natural Abby and Eric were. Teens can be tough to cast, but these two were very good. Drew Barrymore can bug me, but I liked her in this. I'm disappointed we didn't get *one* single answer; this is the kind of thing that drives me nuts: your audience stuck with you for 10 episodes, just throw a bone. We don't know more now than we did in the beggining, sigh. TO and DB were awesome together, and I really enjoyed Sheila and Joel. The final two episodes were a little heavy with all the "insert couple talk" in the between the actions, but that is okay. The parallels of zombiedom being like a fatal disease - when Sheila wanted to enjoy the time she had with Abby, asking if Joel felt guilty or angry - were really good. The gore was well done, the supporting characters are superb - I could watch them all day - and the actors playing Eric and Abby are great finds. Loved the dark humor and over the top everything. Also, the actor playing Eric needs to be in Brooklyn Nine-Nine playing Gina's young brother or lost child, because Skyler Gisondo and Chelsea Peretti DO look alike. ElectricBoogaloo July 8, 2017 Author Share July 8, 2017 It was great to see Susan Ross's mom again! I wouldn't mind seeing her once or twice in S2. Weirdly, the thing that annoyed me the most in this entire episode was Sheila and Joel changing the sheets on Abby's bed. She is a teenager. She's old enough to do her own damn laundry. If she's old enough to steal a motorcycle, she's old enough to change the sheets on her bed! It was fun to see how excited Eric was to work on the cure with Cora. His video about her using stock footage was funnier than I thought it would be. I have to side with Joel about how to make Baka vomit. Getting her drunk at home was a lot more practical than convincing her to go to Magic Mountain with them, hoping she would vomit on a ride, and then somehow catching said vomit while on the ride. Ramona's deadpan boredom/annoyance with customers never fails to crack me up. 1 1 Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo July 9, 2017 Author Share July 9, 2017 One of my main concerns throughout the season was that they didn't know how Sheila became a zombie but she was still swapping bodily fluids with Joel. Since it's a virus, if I were her I'd be worried about accidentally turning Joel into a zombie. It seems that Sheila biting Loki is what turned him - did she break the skin when she bit Joel's finger? I hope he doesn't become a zombie. He clearly ha issues with killing people so I don't want him to become one of those self-loathing zombies (I had enough of that with emo Angel on BtVS/AtS). Link to comment

It is where Ramona works and the deadpan delivery of her lines is hysterical. She’s my favorite character outside of the main four. I wonder which isle she found Dr Wolff’s turkey sandwich in? I came into this late so now I’m going to slip right into season 2. I was originally shy of this because of the zombie thing and was scared there’d be too much gore. I have literally laughed out loud at so many parts so off to the next season... Link to comment
