Since we have a Hillary topic, we might as well have a Donald one as well. Some say he's the most dangerous major party nominee since Vice President Breckenridge in 1860 or more recently, Barry Goldwater in 1964. I've seen one supporter call him a god.

There have been candidates on tickets in the past that I just haven't liked, for whatever reasons (Al Gore, John Kerry, Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin), but I have never had such a visceral negative reaction to anyone as I have to Trump. At least with all the other candidates I listed, I get a sense that I could have lunch with them and we'd get along fine.

Yeah, I called Mitt Romney a bigot to his face (ok, I just chanted it at his anti-marriage equality rally in Boston) and I could still understand why people I liked and even loved supported him, could discuss it with them and end as friends. This time around...I had to delete three different versions of what I want to say. I'll leave it at this: I will be ecstatic if Trump gets humiliated on Election Day, but I will still be heartsick about what it says about our country that he got as close as he did.

I remember being on my knees and fervently praying that Governor Romney was defeated.  Why?  Because of the neo-cons he chose to surround himself with as his foreign policy advisers.  The same clowns who are responsible for the largest foreign policy disaster this country has ever faced.  This crowd never saw a war they didn't like, and the fact that most of them were draft dodgers really incensed me.  I was terrified for our troops and the young people who may be used as cannon fodder.  I also saw Romney's five strapping sons, none of whom served in the military but who were serving their country, according to their father, by campaigning for him.  But, other than that, I could see myself having fish and chips with Romney and engaging in a lively conversation with him and holding my own.

However, Sarah Palin is another matter.  There isn't enough brain bleach in the world that can make me forget how her campaign rallies resembled Klan rallies, and I was truly frightened for then-Senator Obama's safety as well as the safety of others who openly supported him.  She only got as far as she did because she's attractive, but some of us were able to see beneath all that Maybelline.  As despicable as I find that ignorant fool, the one good thing I can honestly say about her is that I never got the sense she would want to sleep with her own son because she thought he was hot.

Which brings me to the tangerine abomination known as Donald Trump.  The man with two daughters:  his favorite, the supposedly hot one, and the spare.  I noticed that Ivanka wasn't at the debate Sunday night and the previously ignored spare, Tiffany, was.  Her body language spoke volumes when her sperm donor (because that's all he is) went to kiss her.  I can only imagine that she knew deep down inside that it wasn't sincere and that she was also creeped out.  It's bad enough that he objectified Ivanka and allowed Howard Stern to do so, but I'm sure Tiffany is aware that she was also objectified when she was but a baby.  What kind of "father" openly speculates about his infant daughter's mammary measurements?  One who is so vile that he has no boundaries of even the smallest amount of decency.

Heartsick. Yeah, me too. But I'm also scared.  Trump and his supporters are saying that if Clinton wins, the election will have been rigged.  They are spreading stories about demonic possession, Hillary covering up crimes, how she is guilty of treason, etc.  The chants of "lock her up" at rallies are so full of hate.  I fear that there will be an attempt on her life by someone who thinks that they are supporting Trump.

 I can't link it on the device I'm using, but there was an interview on CNN with a Trump supporter who believes that GOD sent Trump to save our country.  People kill in the name of God, it's not much of a stretch to think that God wants them to kill an evil, demon possessed woman who stole the office from the man god chose.  It reminds me of the hatred spread when a Black man dared win the presidency.

I swear I really do agree with those people who view the Media as partly to blame for Trump.   They allowed this man to run rough shod, tailoring his soundbites for outrageous ratings grabbing and now this man could end up leading the free world.    I'm no HC fan but I felt absolutely disgusting just having watched that stunt he pulled at the 2nd debate.  No politician has ever done that before, made me  want to shower just from watching their antics.   Now that his support is pretty much a CULT and he has openly played the media for patsies, they seem to be showing him for what he is (with the exception of Fox) but I'm terrified it might be too late.   He should have never been able to make it this far, his ignorance should have been broadcast by the media from the beginning so that he never made it past the primaries.

Picture that man at a diplomatic meeting, HIM!!!!!!!!!!!! His outrageous lack of comportment might stun the international community initially, but I think a time would come and soon, when  they wouldn't be willing to take his attacks and slights and lies, lying down.   And then what happens?   I live in terror that something from Wikileaks or that other guy who claims to have info will release something that will end the campaign.

  God knows who he would put in powerful positions, that monster mash he calls his "team"?  I am literally going to go to mass and pray he doesn't win.

It's not just FOX. NBC had that Access Hollywood tape of Trump and "locker room" pals and, purportedly, their lawyers were trying to figure out what to do, possibly to save Billy Bush's backside before, whoever leaked it, pass it along to the Washington Post which released it hours later.

I read that he apparently got the election date wrong when he told people to go out and vote Nov 28th or something.  Lol, let's hope that's an omen.

I'm not American, but the fact that Trump has gotten this far is unbelievable to me as an outsider looking in.  That someone like him is actually taken seriously as a presidential candidate by no small proportion of the American population is scary and extremely unfortunate.  I am sorry, but I don't think Hillary was wrong when she described at least half of his supporters as deplorables.  His campaign has become home to racists, xenophobes, homophobes, Islamophobes, white nationalists, crazy conspiracy theorists etc.   It's horrible to see Trump validate those groups through not so coded messages in the debates and in his diatribes elsewhere.

Trump calls Hillary the devil, and voila, there's a conspiracy theorist with millions of listeners apparently (why?), who goes out and claims that Hillary and Obama are demons, like, literally.  He's been told by the "high ups".  They smell of sulphur apparently.  I mean, wtf?  How crazy can you get.  And yet, some people might actually believe in the same way so many incredulously believed Obama is a Muslim, not born in the USA, despite all evidence to the contrary.

I agree it's seriously scary.  It's at a point where I sadly would not be surprised anymore if someone really did go out to commit an act of violence against Hillary.  The visceral hate you see at footage of Trump rallies and online against Hillary is out of control.  Trump continues to fan those flames, especially when he not so subtly hints at what people with guns might do to Hillary.   It's just completely irresponsible and immoral.   I thought it was chilling when people shockingly applauded when Trump said he would lock Hillary in prison if he were elected.  Why applaud that?  Seriously.  Do those people who clapped care about the rule of law at all or they think it's all hijinks?    I don't know if this whole putting Hillary in prison theme started with t-shirts from Trump supporters or wherever, but it's crazy how it's taken off with them.  I have not seen the kind of hateful, outright misogynistic language used against Hillary being used against any other candidate in my memory and it's extremely disturbing to witness.

Don't get me started on Trump's tape.  Not sure he actually answered Anderson's question asking him whether he had committed those acts he described in the tape, that they weren't "just words".   It was disgusting how he repeatedly dismissed it as "locker room talk".   I wish Hillary had called him out on that BS but I don't know if she wasn't more aggressive on him because she was advised not to come out too 'hard' as a female candidate. ;)  

The spectacle of his pre debate press conference was gross.  I feel for those women but it made me cringe to see alleged victims of sexual assault sit next to Trump, a guy who brags about sexual assault, and say that he would make the country great again or some such BS.

I suppose there's no chance more horrible footage is going to come out from unaired The Apprentice outtakes because they won't be released?    Honestly, if that tape from the bus didn't horrify his supporters already, not sure what will.  Unfortunately, maybe like he said, he could kill someone in the street and they'd still vote for him.

I really don't understand how it's even a close contest.  Any other candidate who had said and done the things he's said and done would have been finished long ago.

I also don't understand how his supporters can still think Trump's an honest guy, who tells it like it is, when he's lied just about more than any other candidate.  When he's called out on those lies, it doesn't seem to matter to those who support him.  And his tape.  So he claims that that didn't represent who he was, but he's a guy who likes to tell it like it is!

Some say that Trump is the guy people with lots of grievances attach themselves to.  But why can't they see that Trump's going to do nothing for you?  He's not going to solve your problem, get you your job back or whatever, because he's nothing more than bluster and vacuous policies.  

I do think a populist demagogue like Trump represents a unique challenge to conventional politicians.  Just look at how the debate played out.  He just kept on repeating the same BS lies over and over again, which is what he is good at, and had no qualms about doing so, and unfortunately, I would not be surprised if he made some impact even if the substance of what he was saying was false or the context completely misrepresented.  Meanwhile,  Hillary could only say she didn't have the time to rebut every lie and asked people to look at fact checkers and her website.  But how many people would really bother to do that?

Last night I heard Trump tell his raucous, enthusiastic crowd, "If Hillary becomes president, it will be the destruction of our country, believe me." And, just now, "Hillary Clinton is the most corrupt and the most dishonest person who has ever run for president of the United States."  And, of course, in Pennsylvania where he hasn't had a chance for months, if he loses it's all because "the system is rigged, folks. It's the only reason."

When he loses, he will want riots or worse. 

He has no sense of history. Otherwise, he would realize that when Hillary, the first female president, wins --after competing against the most sexist, vicious, and unqualified Republican nominee in our history--the alt.right's first mainstream presidential candidate--he will be the villain. Not just "a millionaire/billionaire (TBD) who broke the mold with a successful grass roots campaign".  A villain.  There aren't a lot of them in American history, but in the final days of the general election Donald Trump is building his legacy and that's it. Too bad he's so unreflective, so incurious, so ... limited intellectually ... that he has absolutely no idea how every day he is actually destroying his "brand".

The biggest mystery to me, watching his rallies and reading and hearing what his supporters say, is why anyone thinks he gives a damn about ordinary Americans. Seriously, why?

Donald Trump's entire life has been built around making money and fame for himself. He's never done anything for anyone--no philanthropy like Gates or Buffett, nothing.  His one "big cause" was birtherism. (I guess you could add in the Central Park Five, whom he's still saying were guilty even though they were found to have been falsely convicted).

Whenever his own financial interests have come into conflict with  "ordinary Americans" he is ruthless in crushing everyone. As we saw with the Khans and with Alicia Machado, he has no empathy whatsoever for his critics.

If it serves his interest (the widow in AC, the Trump University students, people who buy "Trump condos" not knowing he's just licensed the name and are scammed,) he WILL crush you.   The only company he's taken public--of his 500 companies that he won't disclose details of--it was for the sole purpose of getting quick cash in the hope he could bail himself out of bankruptcy in Atlantic City (after his ridiculous decision to have THREE casinos there). 

He pocketed their money, their stock dropped from $35/share to 17 cents. He didn't care.  Also didn't care about the people who lost their jobs, and the contractors he stiffed over and over and over.  Do people read? I can't believe anyone thinks Trump cares a damn about any of us. It's been seventy years, people.  He's done nothing. And he's MEAN--see, Miss Universe, judge Curiel, the Khans....there are so many, many examples.)  He's always suing people to get his way and even when he loses (as with writer Tim O'Brien whom he sued for "underestimating" Trump's net worth), he's "happy because I broke him, keeping him in court for five years".

How did Donald Trump, of all people, successfully sell himself as the champion of ordinary Americans?  It's a tremendous failure of the press and of his Republican opponents, too.  He has no qualifications whatsoever--zero transparency, about his incredibly complex financial entanglements here and abroad, even now--and doesn't care about anyone but himself.  It's a breathtaking feat of salesmanship. If I didn't know for a fact that he'd sue me, I'd write a book, "Trump for President: The Greatest Con" .

Given the unseemly animosity Drumpf still harbors toward the Central Park 5, perhaps they should be invited to sit in the front row at the next debate.  Why he insists on fucking with these guys when they've been cleared by DNA evidence and the confession of the real rapist is a testament of how vile he really is.  Any fact that doesn't fit the narrative he wishes to push is disregarded and he doubles down on his viciousness, vindictiveness and lies.  It's a shame that in all of the uproar about that videotape that this story got lost.  Kudos to people like Chris Hayes for keeping it alive.

I'm not impressed by Ivanka and never have been.  She looked so much like her daddy when she was a kid.  I guess it would make sense, wouldn't it, that he sees such perfection whenever he looks at her.  That he objectifies her as someone whom he could get with if they weren't related is even more chilling especially if he sees in her a female version of himself.

What disgusts me at least as much as Trump, is how the Republican party as a whole has embraced these deplorables.  I grew up Republican, my parents were Republican.  They were good people who were not racist or sexist, just good fiscal conservatives with Christian values.  That's what I thought the Republican party was.  But it changed.  It changed when it started courting the right-wing extremists, the evangelicals who hate anyone that's not like them, women who dared to be more than barefoot and pregnant, people who dared to love those of the same  sex, and its just become worse and worse over the last couple decades.  And its reached its pinnacle with Trump.  Its become so bad that I am almost dreading my Christmas holidays with my sister's family, who are all Republican.  Even though they say they are voting for Trump because they can't bring themselves to vote for Hillary, I just can't fathom that, how they could vote for such a vile person who is nothing more than a con-man.  I hope nothing more than after this election, Trump gets treated the way OJ got treated after he was found "not guilty" in the criminal trial.  Yeah, technically "not guilty" but a major pariah that no one would really associate with anymore except for other scumbags.  And I have to hope, for my own family's sake at least, that the Republican party finds a way to come back from the edge of the cliff.

I don't think I'll ever look at the Press the same way again.  I will never forget or forgive, that they could have prevented the current state of affairs by NOT treating this man with kid gloves from the very beginning.   They let him grow for ratings and circulation, I'm convinced of it.   He's now eating his own supporting party alive (this public and vitriolic feud amidst the Republican Party is just unseemly) a party I also blame for his ascension.  They may not have strictly BUILT this Frankenstein, but they did let him out of the lab.   And now he's "unshackled".   Look at the way this man handles adversity and disagreement.   I firmly believe that a Person in a position of Power IS able to turn the other cheek and I don't think Trump is capable of that.   I think this is an attitude he's going to take with him to the world stage.   Imagine him pulling the kind of trick he used on Hillary, on a World Leader.

I'm pretty upset with press coverage of the townhall. Remember how Marco Rubio got pilloried for a week--basically it ended his primary chances--for repeating his phrase about Obama 3 or 4 times, in appropriate context, but a repetition?  Trump answered at least 3 questions on Sunday with talking points about ISIS when he was asked about health care reform...humanitarian aid....and his finances.  He CONSTANTLY went to irrelevant talking points when asked about something else. Yet the press largely ignores it while something much more minor was a big deal with Rubio.  I don't get it.

All that and more is true, and yet, still almost 40% will vote for him!!  Why, dear God, why?!  That is still a shocking fact to me.  Do they love him for his behavior or do they pretend that his behavior is just a front to get elected and that he'll be a 'normal' Republican after that?  

What is also shocking to me, but that's been going on for a while and isn't limited to politics, but goes hand in hand with Trump's ascension, is how can people not care about actual FACTS?  When did respect for facts (and reason, and knowledge, and intelligence) go out of fashion among some?

The only way this nightmare would have been worth anything is if first, he goes down in a landslide (please, please, PLEASE let that happen), and second, if after the election he's charged with all kinds of shit that's been exposed about him now, from tax fraud (the stuff with his charity makes me think that can happen) to sexual assault and harassment if more women start coming forward, like they did with Bill Cosby and Roger Ailes.

The Trump University trial and the rape trial are scheduled to start soon. I don't know why this charge that he raped a 13-year-old girl hasn't gotten more media attention.

Sad to say it, but I think Trump will still come out a 'winner' per his standards even if he loses the election.  Everyone in the world now knows his name and that's got to do wonders for his ego.  He's got unprecedented publicity for himself, his brand, and he's going to parlay that for years.  Maybe another reality show down the road or something even bigger.  More book deals.  There will always be those people who will think he could have Made America Great Again.  He's always going to have a soapbox to his base if he wants it to brag about himself and to undermine Hillary during her presidency.  Palin x 10, except Trump has his own money as he loves reminding us.

Apparently, if he doesn't win, it's not because he's a grossly unqualified shit stain, it's because the contest was rigged.  And, having those pesky "urban voters" [Thanks Speaker Ryan!] showing up at the polls is problematic.  So, he wants to taint the whole process through intimidation, whipping up his cult members to "monitor" voters in certain neighborhoods.

I mentioned shortly after the GOP convention that I truly feared for Secretary Clinton's safety.  It only takes one nut job to do the unthinkable.  He's already whipped up the Second Amendment folks and is clearly looking to sabotage the orderly transfer of power.  One day he claims he will "accept" the outcome if she wins.  The next day, he's not so sure, which is a clear signal to his followers to raise all kinds of hell.  I shudder to think what will happen when it comes time for him to give his concession speech.

I think Hillary was right in her strategy not to get accusatory in the townhall debate. However, it was maddening. Everyone now thinks those "Clinton women" were actually all proven to have been acted against by Bill, which is not true. Meanwhile, Hillary (or at least a surrogate) should have reminded everyone that Trump is facing THREE fraud trials, including one by the AG of New York. Also, someway, someone should have mentioned the rape trial. And Ivana's deposition during the divorce accusing him of raping her.  I mean, he parades these women out against Bill when nothing was proven. Trump's been ACCUSED of plenty himself.  Why couldn't someone ask him, "if we have to take Bill's accusers seriously, as if its all true, shouldn't we do the same for yours? (13 year old girl, Ivana, Kathy Harth, etc.) Seems a fair question to me and I don't understand why everyone is letting him just get away with this unchallenged.

Drumpf has already said that if he doesn't win, he will go back to having a very good life in Mar A Lago, and his other mansions, but people are still going to keep investigating his sexual conduct in the past, his "university", his "foundation" and his taxbreaks.   I expect to see a tableau of his weeping 80s serial-killer looking sons, while he blames the GOP for not supporting him.  What he would have to say about HRC45 will be anyone's guess.  I'm sure he won't know until a minute before he says it anyway.  Maybe much less than a minute.

He and Bannon will use his loss to set up a new third party filled with Hillary and GOP haters. The alt.right will have it's Trojan Horse to go mainstream with Donald Trump. It doesn't matter that they won't have any grass roots organization (the same way they don't now, no matter what he says).

And there's TONS of money to be made there, starting a third party, without all the work of a television or radio station.
