Damn it! The bitch is staying one more year even though ABC cut her salary. As for the rest of the article, no more Michelle (no surprise), and no more Raven and CCB. To think Sunny could have been hired 2 years ago but by playing cutesy on the show they finally gave in and hired her for the panel. Not surprised about Sarah. Paula back too. So, I guess my one day a week of watching the show with Joy moderating will continue. And the After Show which I like the best anyway. Much more casual and people are at ease without the bitch never showing her face over there. Miss Whoopi probably runs out the door the minute The View ends. She won't give ABC one more minute of her time especially now with half her salary. lol

Is ABC blind or just plain stupid?  The View is never going to get better than it is as long as they have Whoopi Goldberg sitting at that table.   Movie Star or not she is a terrible moderator, obnoxious with anyone who disagrees with her and IMO a complete waste of space on the View.  I don't for one minute believe she is any sort of draw for A-list guests to appear on the show.  If anything I think she might actually deter people from coming on the View. Unless you are wiling to show her due respect as an EGOT winner, movie stah and Queen of the Universe she really doesn't seem to have much use for you.

Airhead Sara Haines???? Why am I not surprised? I'm sick. It will  be GMA's View with her and Paula. The last thing this show or any show needs are "best pals" together.

While I won't miss CCB and Raven, I'd take Michelle over airhead Sara Haines.

We knew Sunny was a lock.

I just had a thought that ABC might have lowballed the bitch to get her to leave. If that was the plan unfortunately it didn't work.

Why not just not renew her contract?  Is Whoopi so beloved that people would be outraged and boycott the View?

Of course not!

She brings the crazy to the show which gets them publicity. They want it, good or bad.

See I disagree. I don't think Whoopi brings the crazy.  She brings the mean-spiritedness. She brings the know-it-all attitude.  She brings the ineptitude at being a moderator. But she isn't crazy.  Elisabeth was crazy.  Watching her was like a train wreck.  It was hard to look away. But with Whoopi it's very easy to look away. In fact I find my view (and my View) much better without her in it.

So Whoopi is going to be staying with us.  I guess she just can't walk away because she wants the money is so in love with her job.   And to show that love for her job, she once again mocked a hot topic subject as she introduced it for discussion.  Clearly she thinks the skinny jeans dress code thing is stupid and who cares.  Or maybe she is just showing her contempt because she knows the entire panel is going to miss the damn point, which is about whether it is it right to ban a kind of clothing because people are being bullied for wearing it, or should the school instead address the issue of bullying?  It took some random viewer to tweet in pointing this out before anyone on the damn panel "got it."

The best completely irrelevant point made was by Raven, who thinks what the school should really be worried about is the science of skinny jeans and their effect on circulation.  Omg I just can't with her.  She is so DUMB.  And her music sounded auto-tuned as hell, btw.  I couldn't wait for the "sample" to end.

So ... no mention of Bill Cosby.  I guess it's just too hot of a topic for hot topics.   They are moving onto karaoke?  Good lord.  I'm changing over to the news.  I'd rather listen to the latest Trump news than sit through any more of this.

Before I go, who was the tall woman in the red dress sitting at the table?  She looks so familiar.  Where have I seen her before?  I could swear I've seen her before, hmmm...

That karaoke was absolutely painful, ugh show, wtf! Hearing Whoopi will stay to do nothing at half price is no surprise. I've been one of Whoopi's harshest critics but Joy somehow elevates Whoopi. Whoop still sucks but is more on her toes. And at least she can bully mean girl Paula, lol. As for the others, goodbye Sister Barbie and Dumbo Raven. Michelle was ok, better than the airhead one, can't even remember her name. This show hasn't been able to get the mix right in a decade and I'm certainly not expecting them to get it right now. Just please, I'm telling youuu, no more hosts singing, ever.

I'm not saying that I think the Daily Mail made up the story, but I do find it curious that not one other media outlet has the story. Either it has a great inside source or it's printing what it thinks will happen.

I do prefer Michelle to Sara Haines, about whom I can't think of a single interesting trait. She was pregnant ... and .... and .... and ....?

Have you ever had stay in a job where your pay has been cut? It is terrible for morale. Next season will be a glorious disaster-I can feel it in my remote. I just cannot imagine Whoopi being ok with this pay cut.

Sounds like ABC called her bluff and she gave in.  $2.5 million is better than nothing.

Especially for four hours a week about 30 weeks a year.

Yeah, if we think Whoopi is terrible now [and as you all know, I do] then I can't even imagine what 50% less effort from her will look like.  I didn't think it would be possible to put less effort into a job than she already does on this show but I'm sure I'm wrong.

Miss Whoopi may have a huge ego, but her greed for the big bucks is bigger, which isn't that surprising when since she's supporting all her descendants.   Remember when the Great Movie Stah was doing Poise pad commercials?

I think ABC had to keep Whoopi. More likely than not Michelle, CCB and Raven are out, which leaves Joy and Paula. They couldn't add Sunny, airhead Sara Haines and a 3rd person without remembering the disaster of Nicolle, Rosie Perez and RO (three new at once)

So after they realized  they wanted M, CCB and R out, Sunny and airheaded Sara Haines started making themselves right at home. It would be strange now to bring a "new person" when Sunny and airheaded Sara Haines should be "new". So I think that is why Whoopi stays. Similar to the way Bitsy stayed when Mere, Star and RO left.

Whoopi is the big name at the table; it's why she was hired and most likely why she stays hired.  I honestly don't believe that the big decision makers really even watch this show - they just look at the bottom line and it's clearly making money [how could it not with all the product placements?]  But  even when this show started, it had a big name attached to it: Barbara Walters.  When Meredith split, they brought in RO because her name was synonymous with great daytime talk shows [12 Daytime Emmys ]  and they probably didn't know Babs would stay on seven more years, lol.     Then RO split and Whoopi Goldberg The Great entered.

She battled RO for dominance and won.  When she started turning The Spew into The Whoopi Goldberg Hour a.k.a. Whoopi and The Whoopettes ABC cleaned house except for their Big Name.   Bringing Joy back was a good idea but Joy doesn't have the same name recognition as WGTG.  I can't think of any other big name that would be remotely interested in this mess.  Nope, I think  WGTG will go down with the ship even as she's the one sinking it.

This was always my thought. They didn't want to look bad by "firing" her, and wanted her to walk away.

I hadn't even thought of that, but God help us all from what low bar she'll be hitting next year.

My take on her staying is that it's more about her pride. I'm guessing it's wanting to avoid looking bad in the press. People would say it was because of the drama with Rosie last year and her craziness about Cosby, then there'd be talk about how Joy is better as a moderator, and it would validate Trump's comments about and towards her, etc.

Although.... I was thinking this morning that I would be fine with her staying, at least with Paula and possibly Jedidiah around. Joy gives them way too much pull when she's moderating. Whoopi at least will shut that mess down, even if I don't like her anymore and she's often incoherent. Plus, this allows Joy to be a regular co-host, which is what I prefer. She's a great moderator, but I watch this show to hear her--not those other dipshits.

I'm sad about Michelle, but we all knew that was coming. Good riddance to Raven (hope they rub salt in the wound just like she did with Rosie Perez). Candace seems like a nice person overall, but she's not made for a talkshow and I won't miss her.

Interesting take @TheGreenKnight.   Whoopi's ego trumping her wallet?   They are both super inflated, but after reading this I can see it both ways.

I am not a karaoke fan and haven't commented here for a long time (but read your clever, spot-on comments regularly) and just had to officially login and take the time to say - Can't believe I am saying this - but I loved the part of the karaoke part of the show and I was in the "kill me now" camp.  Fast forwarded through most of the table talk up until the songs, then forwarded through the CCB/ vanilla ice stuff, but Michelle and Raven were quite good and picked great songs that I love. I"m surprised neither of them have done musical theater...or maybe they have and I am not aware, but they certainly have the chops to belt songs from the stage!  And I totally get Whoopie singing the Dreamgirls song around the house....after I saw the play years ago I would to, still, play the soundtrack and still belt it out sometimes and I'm an old, married  white lady! And her being able to get Jennifer Holiday to make an appearance was a treat!

I thought Michelle and Raven did a good job with the karaoke also. I FF ed thru CCB's ridiculous version of Vanilla Ice. Has she no dignity?  Oh, and she also quickly asked the guy at the panel to give her daughter a singing contact.  No. No dignity.

When the judge L.A. Reid was talking to Raven  after her song, he asked her if she sang on tv or something before. She muttered, "only 5 albums".  Heheh. Must have been good ones--since nobody ever heard her. Maybe it was teenybop music for her tv fans.

Perhspa Whoops will (continue to) dig her own grave and ruin her reputation even more. But then, Hollywood is the land of superficial friendships mostly, and stars probably don't watch this crap.   The mighty have fallen before. Fingers crossed.

I'll miss Michelle. It took her a while to relax but once she did and laid off the dumb jokes etc more I think she added a perspective the shown needs.  She's bright and has common sense and compassion. I wish she'd learned to share that side earlier.

Sara is such Melba toast. Meh ....  Raven had some good moments lately but moments out of hours? Just no. Bye girl

Mean girl side eyes smirking Paula back?  yuk . The only purpose whoopi has for me is crushing her at each and every turn. That's it.

Candice who?

Thank heaven for Joy

stacey Londons voice sends me into seizure  territory a la Kramer

Why can't I kick this show?

Today's why I'm not as upset as I could be about Whoopi staying. Paula and Candace were practically orgasming over the e-mails topic and Joy let them run with it. I'm sure after the election year is over, I'll revert to wanting Whoopi out the door again.

I walked out of the room as soon as Stacey London appeared. I looked to see Joy’s bathing suit though because I thought she might end up looking uncomfortable standing next to the Fox bots in their teeny bikinis, and I thought she looked nice in that. I could definitely see her wearing it outside the show.

I don't like Sara Haines or Sunny Hostin particularly, but if they keep Jedidiah off this show, I'll take 'em.

That Hillary email "scandal" discussion was one of the most ignorant I've seen in a while. Couldn't even count on Joy for some realism. Just sad. There wasn't even a murmur about the Bill Cosby revelations. I wonder why/sarcasm. Michelle has a nice voice and could be better if she train it. Everything else, meh.

I hate Stacy London.  If she's such a fashion maven, why does she always look like shit?

I always smirk whenever I see Whoopie interacts with Stacey London, I remember her losing her shit over an article where Stacey London basically said that the movie stah was a sloppy mess and in serious need of a makeover, for someone that is on national television everyday...Not to mention, a decent bra to keep her puppies in check..I find it hilarious how Whoopie is constantly saying that she is a fashion maven..lol..

I agree with you guys, Stacey London always looks a mess to me....

I was disappointed with Joy letting Paula and the Christian Barbie celebrate over Hillary's faux pas and Whoopie as usual was an incoherent mess..I cannot believe that greedy bitch will be back next season....

I am a minority on this, but, I want Michele to stay..I find her so refreshing and palatable, even with her corny jokes...She does not take herself seriously and I like that she is a woman that is neither married nor with children.

Who wants to bet that Whoopi, when her pay cut kicks in, extends her bellowing "welcome to the view" to fill the entire first segment? (I love Joy's stone face when Miss W is chanting).

yeah, I remember when Miss Whoopi used to give a general "welcome to the View",  and then give a special Welcome to the audience segment seated directly behind her.   If I am not mistaken, it seemed like she singled that section out, and that they responded by being louder and rowdier.  I wonder if audience members were requesting that section, or if there was some backlash  to her giving them a special welcome, and she was told to stop.  Because now she seems to do a general welcome, and then point to each audience section to welcome them.  It's weird and unnecessary - especially since the show has SO MUCH filler.  The typical "Hot Topic"  segment is now - introduce the topic, each host says one sentence, and then 5 minutes of commercials.

I was especially pissed when a recent segment on "sun damage protection"  was nothing more than a disguised commercial for a specific brand of lotion, followed by an actual commercial for the same product that their "expert skin specialist"   person was recommending.  How about having a dermatologist on, and have some actual FACTS about sun damage?   And, hey, when CCB is sitting there with her fake tan and saying how she covers every inch of her body with sunscreen, every day, there's something wrong.

Yes, @backformore, I noticed that timing for the first time yesterday.  Five minutes of program, five minutes of commercials, rinse & repeat.  I particularly noticed last night while watching yesterday's show because the time shows when I fast forward.  Interesting!!  More commercials, less programming.  Way to go ABC!!!

I think they should have given Michelle a better chance. Without the lame jokes she was fine and really did add a new perspective!

Airhead Sara Haines just sits there and looks left and then looks right, like she is at a tennis match. She adds nothing!

The commercial breaks have been five minutes long since before The Year of Barbara.  How do I know?  My remote has a five minute jump forward button and it's perfect timing on The Spew.   I'd say the average full show is about 35 minutes.

Joy was on The Chew. I only knew that because I left the TV on 45 while doing other things. lol Nothing much of note. She talked about officiating the wedding ceremony, and a trip to Cuba (with a picture). One of the hosts said his mother or grandmother had watched the show for years and stopped when she left the first time, and was glad she had returned.

I never particularly liked Michelle because she always tried to insert a joke and most of the time it was bad timing. But of all the co-hosts she is the one who needs the job the most. Maybe she was a little too desperate.

RIght - her timing was off, she was new to the whole thing, and was nervous and not coming across well.  But I liked her, and felt she had grown and improved.  I think she could fit in with a different set of hosts.

Another topic - can we talk about Raven's hair and makeup the other day?   WTF??   Glitter eye makeup might be OK for going to a club in the evening - but NOT on morning TV!
