Happy for Maura, Fin and Haley (I've always liked HP, her shrillier yelling moments aside). And if Laura was nominated for the scenes at the wedding with Franco, I'm okay with that, too.

And of course we got to the point where every show is nominated, LOL.

I didn't see where Laura was nominated.

GH's first-time Supporting Actress nominee Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) says, "I found out from Frank [Valentini, executive producer] calling to congratulate me. It's such a huge honor. And speaking of huge [the pregnant actress is close to beginning her maternity leave], you will not miss me on the red carpet!" "Super Excited!!!!! Thank you guys!!! And Woo Hoo to all the nominees!!!!" tweeted Laura Wright (Carly, GH), who is up for Lead Actress. "Thank you everyone for your support and @DaytimeEmmys for my second nomination, very grateful," tweeted Wright's on-screen son Bryan Craig (Morgan, a Younger Actor contender). "GUYS I CANT STOP CRYING IM SO HAPPY," exulted Haley Pullos (GH's Molly, a first-time nominee for Younger Actress)."

Can GH steal whoever this Kelly Alexander's hair and wardrobe people are?

Or just let these people do their own because they all look 10 times better irl. I guess it'd be more work for them, but hell I'd rather work a little harder than look like shit on tv every day.

twitter fight! kinda:

Michael Logan:

The fact that all four soaps are nominated for best show, writing and directing is ludicrous. And it makes the whole thing meaningless.

Laura Wright:

U know we are hanging on as best we can. Let's lift them up. Meaningless is a bit much

Michael Logan:

No worries @DiMera87 All's good. This is the fun part about being 120 yrs old. I don't take shit from anyone, the phenomenal @lldubs included

Do your homework @lldubs I have helped lift soaps up for my entire career as a reporter. Your work included.

I get why Laura defended but Logan is right in this case.

I can see her side, but Logan is right - all the crowing about the best show, writing, and direction nominations is silly because, really, everyone got participation medals just for showing up.

Actually, I should also mention that, even though Olivia is not always served well by the writing I love Lisa and am glad she's nominated, too.

She submitted the drunk crying animal adoption scenes. She was really great in those. She won't win, but I think she's hilarious and a lot of fun.

Or maybe the guy can get the boost he needs to call his old castmate an

d see if he can get on The Walking Dead.

Unfortunately Tyler James Williams' character Noah was killed off a few weeks ago. He was only on a few episodes and I'm pissed they killed him off so quickly. There are so many characters on that show right now that I'm actively rooting to be killed.

Actually, The Walking Dead and GH have a lot in common, the biggest thing being that both shows have a plethora of characters that I want to die violently.

What's really interesting is that if you go on Tequan Richmond's twitter, he lists a lot of his various credits, then says "regular on General Hospital. " He doesn't even name the character, and when Ron was thanking various actors on twitter he was the only one who's handle didn't highlight. Nor did he respond to Ron. I wonder if he has him blocked. I follow him on twitter. If so, that makes me like Tequan Richmond even more. I literally want to start hashtags trending everyday to get him popular to anger Ron. If- just speculating- there's beef, Ron must be pissed he's nominated. Lol.

For me this stance from him would be more genuine if he hadn't pandered to the biggest and most damaging egos in daytime for such a very long time - Guza and Geary in particular. Carping about it now just feels like sour grapes, or knowing his relevance has faded away.

After Laura's shilling for Howarth I don't have a ton of interest in her opinions, but I can see why she said something. I'm sure she does work hard, and someone who is consistently up the asses of the cast and crew for access is making digs.

Anyway, were the children who play Emma and Spencer eligible for nominations? If so I'm surprised, if pleased, that they weren't nominated, especially since so much of what Ron coughed up was desperate award baiting.

They were both eligible, but Nicholas Bechtel didn't even get a pre-nom. I do think the Daytime Emmy's are a joke now, but NB not even getting a pre-nom after all the pimping and propping made me happy because the kid CANNOT ACT!

Days currently has two kids around the same age as GH's quad and they are both really good. I don't understand why GH can't find kids like Lauren Boles and the kid who plays Aiden's son.

Please explain to me like I'm 5 how the hell KA got nominated???

TG nominated is a little ridic as well.

I don't think anyone from GH will take the prize, if that what this is these days. A joke indeed.

So the Gold Derby site had "eight experts" chime in with their daytime emmy predictions.  The interesting thing: 7 were men and only 1 was a woman. When did the representation of female commentators and "experts" on daytime television sink to the level of tokenism?

In case you're curious, they were:

Michael Fairman (Michael Fairman Soaps), Jamey Giddens (Daytime Confidential), Lynda Hirsch (Creators Syndicate), Dan Kroll (Soap Central), Roger Newcomb (We Love Soaps), Richard Simms (Soaps in Depth), and Gold Derby's own Tom O'Neil and Paul Sheehan.

She really should have been nominated as a kid on OLTL, because that's when she actually knew how to act (YMMV, of course, as I know some thought she couldn't act even then).

I can't say I'm heartbroken over Carolyn Hinsey not being included there, so...

Thank Jasus. Can you imagine how often we'd see Spencer if NB were nominated and/or won? He's insufferable enough the way it is.

I love that LiLoC submitted the drunk-dialing scene. It was really funny, and I think she did a great job.

The only rooting interest in the Emmys I have is Chad Duell and Allison Sweeney.  Both have done deserving work.

Yeah, she pissed me off when she did an article in one of the mags about how AJ wasn't needed on GH or there wasn't a purpose for him or something like that.  I found that so short sighted that I have no use for her.

According to FV or RC he  didn't submit because he wanted others to have a chance not so sure I believe them lol.Honestly I don't really find any of the kids natural the way that Kmc and JJ were and hell even watching old PC eps CS was when thy were little. Not sure if its because of the writing or what.

Personally, I think it's healthier for him if he doesn't wrap himself up in a competition like that at his age.  It's not like it's a competition where it's objectively scored -- no whoever scores the most runs wins kind of things.

If his parents somehow guided him away from wanting to enter into it, I would say kudos to them.

I realize KMc entered into them when she was just a year or so older than Nicholas, but I don't think she was in a position where her bosses were acting like playmates and putting her on a pedestal like Frank and Ron do with Nicholas. I get the sense, and I could be wrong, Kimberly knew it was all about the work and not to wrap up her self-worth into those awards.  Plus she had an abnormally mature attitude at such a young age. Moreover, the difference between ages 9 and 11 can be pretty big when it comes to ego-enforcing or ego-destroying awards like this.

Bitch, please! That's the excuse someone like Oprah Winfrey uses when theyve been nominated and won year after year after year. This is not a legitimate or even remotely believable excuse for someone who was only even eligible for the first or second time ever. And I'm sure Tequan, Bryan, and the absolutely brilliant Freddie Smith wouldn't have stood a chance if NB had submitted. The kid cannot act!

KA is younger actress. 4 soaps, and I don't know how many under 25 actresses there are on the other shows but she was the only one on GH besides Hayley Pullos.

I'm not sure there should be a younger-actor category in the first place for this very reason, though I understand why there is one.

Well hell then I'm sure little Avery should have got the chance.

In all seriousness emmy's aren't what they once were. Glory days are long long long gone.

Just saw Finola Hughes on The Chew. They showed her headless, shirtless bodies of actors on GH and asked her to identify them. She recognized Nathan's immediately.* Maybe she HAS been debriefing him off screen!

Hee.

*Full disclosure: I recognized him right away too, so I'm not sure whether I should grin proudly or hang my head in shame at my shallowness.

...what do shirtless bodies have to do with whatever "The Chew" is about?

I have no idea.

I guess they have to do something to make a cooking show interesting.

You're right. I guess it still seems two-faced to me, even if it was about all the soaps. I'm glad she said something. At this point the awards are such a joke anyway - to be honest if we were nominating based on who deserves an award, the only show I'd pick is The Doctors, which went off the air in 1982. I think if they took his suggestion and only nominated one or two shows, it would just be an even bigger joke.

So apparently ABC7 in NY interrupted the last 3 minutes of GH today for a breaking news story on a corrupt politician. They must be taking major heat because they replied to a tweet about it from Soaps In Depth.

Trust me y'all - you didn't miss much.

I saw some of the tweets and while I get the anger, all the "OMG, fans have been invested in this story for a year, it's the anniversary show, how could you!" bleeting is a tad ridiculous because I'm soooo sure the folks at ABC7 knew that.

I was kinda embarrassed that someone at SID actually tweeted, with a straight face, probs, that "fans invested a year of their lives!!!" It's like, um...that's truly scary. Please step outside and introduce yourself to nature and real humans.

I actually pointed that out in the main thread - it's weird how Frank or someone didn't try to give them a heads-up. FV has to know by now how ABC 7 interrupts a lot more than other affiliates tend to.

While that's weird, and I get why peeps are irritated, the overreaction has reached epic levels. To say someone needs to lose their job over this? To act like this was an intentional sign of disrespect and HOW DARE THEY!!!!??

ABC NY should have blocked Ron's and SID's Twitter accounts bc that's exactly what they would do if fans sent them messages like that.

The NY affiliate will basically interrupt for a cat in a fucking tree. I remember they did it once for a random church parade or a house fire. I assume if anything happens within 100 miles of this city they have already interrupted. It's typical for them to cut into even the last three minutes.
