When Sunny told the tale of her now husband calling her father to ask for her hand, I was so hoping it would go something like this:

Boyfriend: "I'm calling to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage. "

Father: "............... Son, my daughter is a grown ass woman .... a college graduate .... an attorney. I, as her father, do not have ownership of her or her hand, and I would suggest you call and ask Sunny. Goodbye."

*Heard after he mistakenly believes he's hung up the phone*  "Can you believe this dumb ass mother fucker?  Don't they teach history up there in those fancy schools?  Hasn't he heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?  The ERA?  Don't be bringing this patriarchal bullshit up in my house!"

Im referring to a political clip they showed on Monday's show. Forgive me. Im a doofus. Can you guys help me with this? OK... let's say a person is an R and votes for someone R who is NOT Trump as the R nom in the primaries etc. THen that person loses. Let's say Trump is then the R nom. (EEK!) Can that same voter then vote for Hilary in the presidential election? ..i.e... change parties? I thought some states had some law that if you vote R in the primary, then that's it for you.. R... Iow, it stops people from deliberately voting in an unpopular person in the party of their opposition. I did not say that well, but you get my drift. It kind of touches on the point that dude in that clip (Rubio?) was saying. HE did not want to say that he'd support Trump even though he is a R. He looked pained and I totally get it.

Here's a delegate chart that also tells whether a primary/caucus is open or closed, or somewhere in between.  Different states have different rules, for example if you were a D and crossed over yesterday to vote for Kasich against tRump in Ohio, your party affiliation changes until the next presidential primary in four years.  But it's not like that in all states, and even if you did that you can still vote Democrat in the general elections.  Nothing about your primary votes dictates how you vote in a general election, though once you vote in a primary for one party, you cannot vote for the other party in the primary (some states have primaries on different dates for different parties).

Hope that helps.

I adore MHP, lisp and all.  That said, she had such an important voice, and the sole voice on cable news that really concentrated on social justice, I'm torn about the way that she left.  On the one hand I feel like she threw something really important away and on the other, I feel like she is just living up to beliefs.  I have learned a lot from her in the last four years, she really made this old dog learn some new tricks.

I don't blame MHP for not wanting to wait until November on the off chance her show might come back. MSNBC as a whole seems to be heading in a totally different direction now then in the past and their Trump coverage is off the wall even cancelling their bigger named shows on nights just to go overtime covering him. Since MHP's show wasn't taping it was probably leaving her staff in limbo too who unlike her didn't have 2nd jobs to fall back on. She even stated she tried talking to the higher ups more then once. I think the higher ups there probably thought viewers would eventually get used to her show not being on anymore so they could wait longer to say it wasn't coming back. She's not the only person who's completely disappeared from the channel in the way she described either. It will be interesting to see what becomes of the channel after the big election later this year since they seem to have put all their eggs in that basket.

LOTS of cross talk today to the point of not hearing anyone clearly.

Raven was ...energetic, talking abt allowing breast milk on airplanes, people in relationships looking at others and nekkid folks online, Republicans, etc. I noticed that Raven didn't dissent until someone else did; then she was vociferous! I think the audience applause fired her up. (The orange hair did not go well with her makeup today).

Paula's husband was in the audience. He kinda looks like a nerd.

Molly Sims sold some crap.

High point? Surprise! No Whoopi!

What a hot mess!

CCB must have the long term time out chair. She hasn't been on in weeks so we get Jedi again. UGH. Not sure which one is worse??? I'm starting to tolerate Sunny. I have no use for Molly Simms.

My head hurts. That is all.

I think Candace is doing the rounds for Fuller House and will be back soon. I hope they keep having Jedidiah there to fill Candace's absence because Paula whined about the show being "fair and balanced," and not because they're seriously considering casting her.

CCB is also doing a couple of TV movies so she's out till April sometime.

I don't mind Sunny at all, and it's pretty easy at times to tune out Jezebeladiah, especially when Joy is moderating. But Jed is totally unnecessary. Hopefully Whoops is out for the remainder of the week.

Yeah, Born Again Barbie is doing two Hallmark movies in two weeks or something like that.  Whateves, I kind of hate her at this point.  She bores me and that will not work for me on this show.   Maybe she's Boring Born Again Barbie?

CCB announced on the show last month that she would be away from the show for a few weeks while she filmed two Hallmark Channel movies.  Next week is Easter Week, so I suspect we will get some pre-tapes/reruns and she will be back in April to finish out the last few months of her contract.  I think most will be shocked if she is renewed and part of Year Twenty.

Man, I normally like Sunny but right now I am so glad she is not my mother. I struggled so much through school. She would have probably driven me mad because high school for me was torture and while I did my best getting all Bs was a high point for me.

As for the baseball player I'm thinking we're not getting the whole story. There has to be an issue at home. Is the mother in the picture? Does he not have anyone he can't trust to keep an eye on his kid? Definitely something else going on.

No, Jedediah, Obama is not a "lame duck" president. That status comes after the November election, not before. Filibustering a candidate or voting no is not the same as refusing to bring the nominee up for a vote. Napolitano and Levin are hardly unbiased legal experts.

If Hillary Clinton becomes President and there is still no Supreme Court Justice, she should nominate Barack Obama and watch the Republicans has a collective, massive heart attack.

If one of coworkers brought their kid to work everyday, I'd be really pissed. But, it's nice that athletics are so overpaid that the player can retire in his 30s and walk away.

Boy! Today's show is through the roof on the annoyance scale!! Starting with Raven's latest hideous hair insult.

Sunny? STFU!! You are really coming across as a cruel, demanding mother, the type who sends their kids straight to a shrink. Are you taking a page from the Betty Draper Book of Parenting? Being a kid is hard enough these days - the last thing they need is a perfectionist, uber strict, domineering Mother, breathing down their neck every single waking hour.

And that "Jedediah?" Don't get me started. She's on Fox News.....there. Nuff said. How much longer do they plan on keeping her and Snny around?

I thought Joy was completely right about grades vs Sunny.  Suicide rates are up in communities like Palo Alto because of all the pressure put on children to go above and beyond their peers.  Lighten up.  If a kid is afraid to come to you with a B+, what is he going to do when he gets into real trouble?

I agree about Sunny. Disappointed cuz her kid got an 88 grade?

Yep. She's setting that kid up for eating issues, or worse. Seriously, does she not know the psychology of over demanding parents?

I don't think Raven has any idea how grades work.  She's an idiot.  A baseball player should be able to bring his kid to work every day because SHE was working when she was 3?   She says "it's his (the kid's)  money too?"  NO, it's not.  He's not ON the team.

And yes, the other players DO have the right to an adult atmosphere at their work.  this is not an office, it's an athlete clubhouse, and the other players should not be held to a standard of behavior that's acceptable around kids every minute , every day.

Kids SHOULD be welcome, on a limited basis, at SOME workplaces.   But there needs to be limits - like one day a week being open for all kids.   I imagine this player is not the only dad on the team, and some of the other players might not be happy with the preferential treatment given his kid.

Also -  doesn't this 14 year old go to SCHOOL?  Have friends?  hang out at the mall?

Okay, Melissa Rauch is a hoot!

I really like her, and she seems like a nice person....BUT....did they have to go on and on about the sex scene in her new movie with her parents sitting in the audience?  I get that she's an actress, and that her parents have to expect and accept that sex scenes can and will happen, but I kind of felt like Raven and Paula (was it Paula??) could have been more respectful of Melissa's parents and asked her other questions.

Sunny and grades, don't mean to bore y'all but I have two kids that had the two different ideals applied to them.  The child that was expected to work up to ability (which was A- GPA in the IB Diploma programme, 20 hours a week of dance and a part time job) or had consequences is a junior at a prestigious private college, with tuition fully paid.  The second child that has the same or higher ability but was allowed to do whatever, is a senior in high school and is struggling to graduate and will be stuck at a community college. It wasn't my idea to allow child number 2 that leeway, it was his father's who wholly undermined me as a parent.  He also has a lot more anxiety issues and troubles transitioning that you'd expect to see in an elementary school kid.

I come down very much closer to Sunny's style of parenting with regard to school than Joy's, and I have the experiment in my own home to prove which is more effective.  College is so competitive if you'd like to attend a good one, and doing well in high school prepares you for college.

Sunny's disappointed that her kid got an 88 - and Raven doesn't understand why that's bad?

I think Raven doesn't understand that 88 is a GOOD grade.  It's above average.   calling it a bad grade is giving the message that kids need to be excellent in all things at all times.

Having a perfectionist attitude toward grades HURTS kids.  It makes them afraid to try something that they might not excel at.  Like - a  kid who does well academically might be afraid to take an art class, because he/she doesn't know how well they will do.  And that carries over to adulthood.   Sunny's kid may go through life not trying to do anything that has the potential to result in failure.

AND -   grades reflect how well a kid does on a test, grades do not always reflect whether or not the child LEARNED the material. Some kids learn a lot in school, get intrigued by something they learned, and develop a life-long interest in a subject, even if they don't get an A.

Sunny asks "do grades matter?"   Yeah, sort of.   But not as much as she thinks.   Some kids float through school and get all A's, some kids don't.  Guess what?  it's not a perfect predictor of success in life.

EDUCATION is about LEARNING, not grades.

I was disappointed Sunny didn't speak more during the discussion of Obama nominating a new SC Justice. When Paula read the bit from the constitution like a know-it-all, Sunny said, "That's not what it means." I wish she'd gone into what it means instead of stopping there for Jedidiah to spew a load of BS. I'm glad she and Joy did go on about how this is likely to get many of those senators booted out for being obstructionist and not doing their job of at least giving a hearing. It'll be especially funny if/when Hillary comes in and nominates someone extremely liberal...

As for Sunny and grades... I don't agree with that parenting style, but I hated how everyone at the table ganged up on her. I think that kind of parenting can work for some children, but all children are different. There are just as many children flattened by that type of parenting, or lose all the meaning of education by focusing on a number.

Paula coming out against calories being listed... I believe her and Whoopi finally would have agreed on something. (But, knowing Whoopi, she'd completely forget she got into a big argument with the co-hosts last year about calories being listed on her food--since she was really just arguing for the sake of arguing--and give a completely different opinion--for the sake of arguing with Paula.)

Everyone raising their hands to Raven was hilarious.

Obama is president. period.  he was elected - TWICE.    The term of office is 4 years, not 3 years and a couple months.

The "Lame Duck" period begins with the November election.

Republicans need to focus on how they're fucking up the next election, and let the president who was elected do his job.

The whole discussion about Merrick Garland stepped around the real reason that the GOP is refusing to address his nomination.  It has zero to do with Obama and where he is in his presidency and has everything to do with the tipping of the balance away from a conservative court.

They have a lot of balls with this shenanigans since Bush Sr was the one that replaced Thurgood Marshall with Clarence Thomas.  Now that, was a true travesty.

Jedi-whatever came close to telling the truth when she talked about Obama already having had two appointees to the court, but it's not about Obama's legacy with his nominations but tipping the court back to a more balanced ideology and away from corporate conservatism.

I think everyone ganging up on Sunny was wrong.  I kind of agree with her, especially when she said that she wants her child to "live up to their potential" (although, I HATED hearing those words when I was a kid!!!).  I was surprised, especially, at Joy's opinion, given that she is a former teacher.

When you read and hear (and see) kids from countries that have strong academic achievements out-classing our students, getting acceptances to top colleges here in the U.S., I see nothing wrong with pushing your kids to do the best they can.  For some kids, that is an "A" grade - for others, it is a "B".  Sunny knows that her child can do "A" work, and isn't willing to let her child accept anything less.

The competition for college acceptances and in the future, jobs and carreers, is tough out there for our children, and as a parent, you should instill a work effort in your child to be the best he/she can be, and teach them that effort equates success, at any level.  I think that parents' lackadaisical attitude towards grades is part of why so many young people and "millenials" (I HATE THAT WORD!!!) feel they are special snowflakes and deserve something (whether it be acceptance to a college, a job, or whatever) and not have to work hard for it.

I think it does have quite a lot to do with Obama in that the GOP wants to block every single thing he proposes, but they may regret this action since Judge Garland is supposed to be a highly respected moderate judge, and if they wait for Hillary to be president they run the risk of much more liberal nominations. The Republican Party isn't too smart, because they just solidify the notion that they are the party of NO and many voters will remember this around election time.

Maybe she was confusing her Cosby character with her real life? I remember Olivia being a sassy little thing that was sometimes too smart for her own good.

Many kids' roles are written for then to act smarter or older --like adults-- for comedic purposes. Full (er) House is a horrendous example. I remember a professor of mine in grad school in the 80's who had a tiny tv in his basement, and did not like the medium much. He hated shows where kids acted more knowledgeable than adults, cuz it was such a skewed view of life. Unfortunately, that skewed view seems prevalent on many media outlets. Raven obviously believed in her role, and as the breadwinner in the family was able to exert power over her parents--a very imbalanced relationship.

Plus, now Raven seems to smugly think the Internet is the be-all, end-all of life. That and hair color.

I caught Pleasantville the other day and the teen daughter told her mom (implied) abt sex, masturbation, and orgasms. The mom was from the 1950's in the film. Classic example of youth rule in Hollywood. It's around alot on tv too. Not so funny when it's your kids.

That's what I've been saying! After all, he is an expert on Constitutional law.

I was shaking my head about Sunny's attitude re grades too. That is a lot of pressure to put on a young kid. It could backfire on her with him either becoming emotionally fragile from the stress or stubborn and belligerent. A 96 isn't good enough? "What happened to the other 4 points?" Are you kidding me? Then again, who is anyone to judge how another person parents. She knows her kid and (hopefully) how he'll respond. I only know it would not have worked for my own kids.

One good thing about the discussion, Whoopi wasn't there to pontificate on how parents should approach their children's education. (Not there and I was still saying "shut up, Whoopi.")

I don't want to belabor and if I need to belabor I"ll move to small talk, but I still dont get it. If someone can vote for whoever of either any party in the final election, then what's to stop people from, in the primary,  grouping and voting in some doof in the opposing party so that they lose in the final election? Im clearly missing   something or over thinking it :-) For example, If I were R who voted for a Non-Trump in a primary, there is no way I could support that Trump if he ends up as the nom . If he wins he will humiliate the whole country and do who knows what kind of damage. (imo)

States, clearly, vary on primary rules. The parties essentially hold the primaries. The general election you are totally alone in that ballot box and no one has the right to inquire in any way. In fact, independents fairly often vote for the candidate they prefer (from any party), and -- if that person isn't running in the general election, they quite logically vote for someone else. In some states it is quite easy to get together to vote in the other party for the person who think is more easily defeated. It isn't really too ethical -- in my view -- but it may be quite possible. As said above, it is true in Indiana.

I think kids can be encouraged to do their best without being humiliated. Call me cray. Well, hell's bells, just when I was almost starting to warm up to Sunny, she lost me on her psycho  grade thing. I was an honor student, with a degree in science. But if I had been treated like that by both parents... no telling what I would have done.

ARGH!!!!!!! My dvr froze up, so I only got a chance to watch Tuesday's show. Will have to catch up on the rest and tomorrow's over the weekend.

That said, Miz Raven can just shut up. Whoopi doesn't need you singing her accolades as if Whoopi is new to the industry, and you're the wise sage, doling out how impressed you are with her, or what great job she did on White Rabbit, Red Rabbit. I thought Whoopi did a pretty good job of tolerating that nonsense. I didn't even see her give Raven the stink eye.  I mean, sure, if it had been a colleague, or someone she's known for a long time, like, oh, i don't know-SALLY FIELD-saying those things, I could understand Whoopi smiling. But to bask in the praise from someone like Raven? PUH-LEAZE.

I enjoyed the interview with Ramos.

I wanted them to show a clip from Soap Dish when Sally came out. Just because. The scene about the decapitated head. or where Whoopi's character begged Sally's for an autograph, because she, Sally, didn't think anyone knew who she wuz anymore. Damn. Now I have to go buy that movie!

And they let Sally SPEAK. Without interrupting her!
