"The View": Week of 03/07/16

I only turn the show on the rare occasion now, but still read the comments here to keep up on things.  After seeing that BW was on yesterday, I found a clip on the ABC website and watched. It wasn't the whole segment, so it didn't have her disintegrate/deteriorate word mix-up, but she seemed pretty clear of mind to me.  As for the word mix-up, I'm decades younger than she is and occasionally spit out the wrong word.  It happens.   

 

Anyway, I thought Barbara looked and sounded good for someone who will be 87 in September.  We can all only hope we both live that long and keep our health and mind that long.   As for her still having interest in work, I think it comes from growing up during the depression.  People I've known who lived through the depression never forgot it and always feared it could happen again and were frequently workaholics.

 

Also just watched as much of the video of EH that I could stand.  She really is a mean spirited woman.   I nearly didn't make it to her speech though, as I almost shut it down when the "Valley Girl" started talking.

I have seen some dumb shit in my day (most of it has been on this show), but this Raven hair color thing has to be the most uninteresting waste of time I have ever seen. Fox lady toned it down a bit today.  I think the point that words matter was important, I thought Sanders came off as clueless and tone deaf Sunday night.  I do get tired of people insinuating that he's (Sanders) not a politician, he's been in public office for the most part since 1981.

 

You know what I appreciate in the political talk?  They are actually using the term dog-whistle.  I remember when Palin (and her rally crowds) were scaring many of us about the safety of Obama before the election in 2008, dog-whistle used to be a term only used by liberals in blog comment threads and liberals in general but rarely in the media.  It's just a shame that those that "hear" the dog whistle, don't undesrtand that they are racist and being manipulated.

There is so much confusion on the show when Michelle and Raven are both on at the same time.  Michelle interrupts and no matter her comment, she has that annoying giggle.  And Raven's giggle is just as annoying.  I hope both are gone for the next season.  I can tolerate Whoopie, CCB,and  Paula betterthan those 2 and that is saying a lot.

He did not put a camera in the peephole.  He removed the peephole and hacksawed it and replaced the altered peephole.  When he heard her shower stop running, he used his cell phone to video her naked in her room.

 

They got so many facts wrong on this one case alone.  It's embarrassing.

I'm actually a little surprised and troubled that Marriott isn't on the hook at all "because it was a franchise" but I guess that's how their agreements are written.  Most people wouldn't know they were in a franchise or not without going out of their way to inquire.  They must have posted that up the second the decision was announced yesterday, lol.  Why not long ago is curious.

 

I'm also curious why you think she'll get so little.  I suppose I should just go read more about it.

She'll get nothing from the stalker.  And the assumption is that the hotel company will appeal and that then there will be a settlement that is reduced, so maybe $20 million.  Then lawyers take 40% according to what I have read.  And because it was not a physical injury, but rather emotional/mental distress, she gets taxed on the remainder.  I just think it is too bad that they think this is a windfall for EA.

I think the room number came up as the extension the person is dialling (not the name).  I have never seen that, it seems crazy they would have that on a lobby house phone, so that when you call for a guest, you now know their room number.  I know from experience that most times, in a good hotel, if you even dial room to room and you go through the operator, you have to have the guest name and the room number, so I guess that is for added security.  Generally my colleagues and I text cause it is easier and faster, but sometimes you don't know the person's cell phone number so you want to dial them in their room, but you probably don't know the room number.  The person checking her in should have been a bit suspicious that a hotel guest who was not checked in was on a guest room floor checking out which rooms were being cleaned and would be available, for whatever reason.

 

Yes, peepholes should be more secure.  There are a  lot of security risks when you stay in a hotel, especially for women travelling alone.  Hotels often have staff who are not trained thoroughly and they make big mistakes.  This time it cost them.

 

I just cannot understand why instead putting incorrect info out there they couldn't have spent twenty minutes finding out the facts.  Same with the OJ knife.  Sheesh.

I hate how this show gangs up on the Kardasians every week.  Now I don't watch that show, but I do love Housewives so I'm not a snob, but people are fascinated by them and they are basically sitcom stars since their shows are so scripted.  Just get over it, they will eventually go away and the culture will move on.  But what really bothers me is The View is a show where former child stars talk politics, who are they to talk or judge anyone for making the most out of having no talent?  Give me a break that Kim owes it to us to be a role model.  She can do what she wants.    Haven't we learned yet that role models need to  start in the community and family and not celebs?

That cracked me up.  I thought, "Of course you do Raven."   But she's not really wrong about the cell phone thing.  At our Thanksgiving the five teenagers from three families sat at their own table; at one point I looked over and all four were face down into their phones.

Did anyone else catch Sunny say, 'You were a sports reporter, right?"  when Paula said she covered the news/was a reporter in Chicago?   Heh.   I cracked up.  

 

This week has been so enjoyable without Her Highness Miss Whoopi,  Queen of the Rag Bag,  Knower of All Things, and Fart Joke Expert.

KK is an overweight narcissist with enhancements galore.  Her ass looks terrible to me and she has a pear shaped body.  She carries her weight below her waist and with those huge fake boobs it makes it look symmetrical.  That bleached hair and over botoxed face, sheesh!

Maybe I should go to small talk for further rants, but that's how some men think that women are supposed to look. BAH. My breasts are real "and they're spectacular" [/seinfeld] but they don't stand up straight. high, and and pointy . They fall to the side when I lie down. TMI> Sorry for the visual.

I totally FLOVE Joy as mod. She is 13 yrs older (or depends on who you ask as to WHoops' real age) but she does a far superior job as mod. imo.

 

Sunny can be kind of snarky and I am diggin' it.

Whoppi can't read so it's sort of a problem when you are asssigned the role of moderator. Hopefully, she'll leave when her contract is up. That said, i doubt she will because she loves the easy $$$$$.Although, i will miss her saying (all.the.time), "we weren't there!"...."we don't know the truth!"....."nobody knows anything because they weren't there!"
