Joe and Mika are really missing the point on the "loyalty oath" at the Trump rallies. I don't care what it looks like in a still photo or a video (even though it really does look bad). I care about the fact that he is making his supporters take a loyalty oath in the first place. He is making his supporters raise their hand and swear allegiance to him!!! That is what is making me sick to my stomach!

And Trump's only response is "we're having fun!!" The crowd begged me to do it!! There were 20,000 people there.  Yeah know where else there were 20,000 people saluting? In Nazi Germany!

Why don't these idiots make him answer the fucking questions.  "I'll look into it".  That's Number One on the "I"m stalling to make you shut up and go away" list of responses to the media.

And the begging other candidates to call in.  Trump calls you because it's free advertising you morons.  And you don't have to program the show. Just sit back and wait for Cheetoh Head to call.

J & M are so completely ignorant of the world.

If the Trump salute doesn't have visions of Hitler's rallies, why is it that Netanyahu cancelled his visit with President Obama, that he requested, saying he didn't want to come to the US with the current political rancor.  This coming after an Israeli newspaper compared Trump to Hitler.

And let's not forget that yesterday the president of Mexico joined two former Mexican presidents in basically calling Trump a racist.

But, hey, Trump will make a helluva president in their eyes.

Exactly, we don't pledge allegiance to the president, to a flesh and blood human just like us, we pledge allegiance to our country. Obama and all those presidents before him work for the people, he/she answers to us.  But Trump thinks he's a king and acts as if he doesn't have to answer to anyone. Which is why he can tell reporters to sit down when they are asking him questions on policy and how he would go about governing for ALL the people.  Trump is acting like a king, that's the problem.

He is actually trying to change the government, but he's starting off with lowering the manner in which a presidential candidate must carry themselves, cursing, skipping debates etc...

Bernie is trying to change it too, but not so that he can sit on a damn throne like Drumpf. He's trying to give the gov't BACK to the people and get the special interest money out of it, YUUUUUUUUUGE difference.

You said it, I would say that Lawrence O'Donnell be given the gold medal with Hayes and Maddow coming in with a silver and bronze as the ONLY journalist to actually call Drumpf a racist. I believe Lawrence is the only one to actually call him that and not just his campaign. These people in the media enable this behavior because I don't know, they don't want to insult their fellow Americans who support Drumpf. This should not be their first priority, Martin Luther King Jr. said that, and I'm paraphrasing that the injustices were bad, but what was worse was the people who remained silent. Mika and Joe remain silent, and they have a platform and the mike.  Joe doesn't want to call Trump a Hitler when Joe's brother was just on live television this weekend smiling from ear to ear in support of his Drumpf. He can't do it even if he actually believed it and I don't know what his brown nosing ass truly believes. Not to mention the head of MSNBC is the biggest enabler for the all mighty dollar because if they call him a racist on this show, they'll never see nor hear from him again.  This show is about the only one he'll go on and maybe Matthews, because as Lawrence said, he won't come on his show cause he knows what'll happen. Not to mention he threatened to sue Lawrence.

As a matter a fact, that should be the test of good journalism where Drumpf is concerned, if he hasn't threatened to sue your ass, then you're not doing your job, LOL.

Nicolle often grates on me, but where the hell did Joe get off telling her not to be emotional and to "take off her Rubio badge" today? She had the perfect opening to attack that blowhard for being up Trump's ass but she didn't take it. This guy is so belligerent and lacks even more self-awareness than Trump if that's possible.

He stuffed himself into that suit like my grandmother stuffed herself into her girdle. I think that's what was wrong with his mouth. And where was he, that navy fleece was unacceptable? I mean, he wears fleece and goes without socks on national television five mornings a week ... but not this morning ... so where the hell was he?

He is wearing an eggplant sweater over a button-down shirt; she is wearing a violet/deep cranberry dress with a raspberry cardigan. I am hungry now. I've noticed that she has been growing out her layers and I suspect that she will spring a bob on us sometime soon. He wrote a column (for the WaPo?) which sounds as if it is, in part, mocking The Orange One. I'll believe it when I see it ...

So, we get more filibustering over Woodward and Roberts.  Meeka "I'm not so sure it's about us".

I can't wait until this is a race between the Democrats and the GOP, the oppo research that will be dropped on this asshole will be a joy to behold.  I'm not sure why the GOP that is so desperate to show him the door isn't digging below an inch.

If Trump gets the delegates before the convention, my prediction is the party will fall in line. Even Romney, King Flip Flop.

Their hatred of HRC and thirst for power trump Trump.

And Joe will be there crowing that he knew it all along.

And, these Mensa members--along with Trump's pimps in the media will look back on this madness in a generation and wonder how all of this could have possibly happened in the United States.  Sort of the way the German people did once the blinders came off and they realized the war was lost and their Fuehrer abandoned them.  They even expressed shock at the Holocaust because they "had no idea" such atrocities occurred under their very noses.  This, despite the smells coming from the crematoriums in some of the towns.

I have to ask Joe and Meeka--does your hatred of Secretary Clinton trump [pun intended] your supposed love of country?

The idea of a group of people pledging their loyalty to a human being in this country has frightening implications that we ignore at our own peril.  Yet, these same people sneer about President Obama behaving like a dictator.

I don't see how the establishment republicans will ever be able to fall in line, if God forbid, Trump gets the nomination.

But I'm thinking the democrats are going to have to find the seven horcruxes and destroy them, to get rid of him.

My better half met Cackles today.  Wallace spoke to my wife's business at a corporate event.  Actually, I'm slackjawed to report that she was staunchly anti-Trump and Cruz, and appeared to be in support of Clinton.  She spoke about Clinton's and Sander's many good qualities and the good things they'd bring to the office.  To the group (as I understand it) she said she supported Kasich and would support Ryan and (I believe, hard to get many details via text) she apparently suggested to my wife and others in casual conversation that she'd vote for Clinton.  o_O

Also, she had her picture taken with my wife.  She can't be 5'3"  Super cute, I'm grimacing to write.

Wife said that as Wallace worked the hand shakes and back slaps and said hi through the room, she was only too happy to emphatically denigrate Trump to those who asked and those who didn't.

Wife said Wallace's presentation was astonishingly middle of the road and seemed sane and reasonable.  How close my wife as paying attention... I have no idea.

I can't stand Rick Scott, but Meeka's snide "wrap it" and challenging Scott was ridiculous, they let Trump bluster all over them without answering questions all day, every day for months on end.

Did she just now find religion on the fact that Republicans will never answer a straightforward question on any of their objectionable postitions that come with rehearsed talking point deflections?

Whatever it was, it was stupid.  The GOP debate is tonight and he's the governor, there is a big primary on Tuesday but he's not endorsing, and he gets the Muslim/Islam questions that should go to Trump.  Nonsensical.

I gotta hand it to Mika, I thought her handling of Fiorina this morning was pretty good. Fiorina went off the rails and compared Trump's remark about Muslims hating the U.S., to the Democrats not supporting police. (No,I'm sorry, I can't explain it further.). Mika wasn't having any of it.

I hate Fiorina.  But I think that Meeka taking down Fiorina has more to do with the fact that Fiorina is a woman than anything.  This wasn't the first time, and again, they are too far up Trump's ass to challenge him, the originator of the idea so they go after everyone else about whether they agree or not.

Completely disingenuous.

Permit me some cynicism, but this seems like a total put on.  It sounds like Joe leveraged a friend to appear and say what he needs to say so Mika can become outraged.  Scott placates his hard right supporters by "not playing the game" with "liberal media" over at MSNBC and doesn't refute his troglodyte base's belief that "Islam hates America."  Mika and Joe get to feign outrage and placate those who view them as biased and not true reporters.

By the way, her reaction is wildly unprofessional.  Where is her similar outrage to Trump?  He's the Hitler-in-ascension who asserted that the US is at war with a religion.

Stinks of fakery to me.

What bizarro world did I wake up in that the 6-9 am block on MSNBC is being run by two seemingly intelligent normal people, there is no yelling, no interrupting, just good political conversation.  Does Phil Griffin realize that this program can be something other than a floozy checking her lipstick in the monitor and a has been Congressman pounding his chest while desperately trying to get someone to suggest he run for President?

Why would Ron or Patti Reagan  invite these two idiots to their mother's funeral?    I have a feeling they're going to cover the funeral, they couldn't have been invited. It's a private event,  Joe has been rude to Ron on several occasions so why would he be invited? And  they surely don't need the woman who posed for a photograph in Vanity Fair with her leg up in the air like she was trying out for a gig at Flashdancers

The only thing better than Rick Scott being Trump's running mate would be Rick Snyder.

The scary truth is that the Three Chipmonks now seem to be scared of Trump and resigned to the fact that he will be the nominee and that thanks to their not standing up for their principals, they will have to stand side by side and support him.

For me, this is getting frighteningly close to reality and I'm afraid that if Trump and his Anastacia Dating.com creepy wife ever move into the White House, it will spontaneously burst into flames.

I think the "he says what he wants" crowd is going to be in for a rude awakening during the general.

During the general election debates he'll be asked more specific questions about world economy, foreign policy and leaders of other countries that he won't be able to bullshit his way out of.   Moderate Republicans will hold their nose and vote Democratic, as long as HIllary is the nominee, because the thought of Trump and that band of miscreants he calls family getting into the White House is a worse nightmare than another 4-8 years of a Democrat living there.

Also, word on the street is that if he gets the GOP nom, Dems will have a good chance of getting the House and/or Senate back.

  • Love 3

The Dems should win the Senate back irrespective of the GOP nominee because the GOP is defending a lot of seats in purple and a a couple blue states.  The intransigence with regard to the SCOTUS nomination will definitely affect that as well.

I'm curious if any of those "Reagan" Democrats have noticed that Trump is using the term "Democrat Party" in keeping with the right wing insult.  It's sort of funny, he often catches himself saying Democratic party and correcting it to Democrat Party.  Not exactly a way to persuade informed Democrats, that know that is an insult.

Did any of you see the Ben Carson speech where he supports Trump?  Watch it.  It should be the wikipedia page for "cognitive dissonance."  SNL doesn't need to mock it.  They can just play it verbatim.  He's just a caricature of a feckless punching bag now, so there's really no need to mock him.  But he makes it so damned easy.

My favorite points of the speech was where - in his endorsement of donald trump - he complains about the name calling, the attacks, the immaturity, the ugly tone, and the lack of dignity of the campaign so far.  I mean, W T the everloving F??

- Later he gives a 6 year old's description of socialism, if that 6 year old were the child of Sarah Palin.  He called it "cradle to grave government.  They take all your money and spend it for you."  Ok.  Wait, what?  What does that even mean?  Also, fun fact, his single mom lived off of assistance.  Affirmative action got him into college.  Social programs paid for his college.  So... there's that.

- Then he went on to ramble incoherently about this being a time when "now we need smart people in government."  What??  Our government is measurably, quantitatively & qualitatively  staffed by the smartest people in our nation.  DC is the most degreed region in America, and the big brains go there, or Wall Street, or Boston, or Northern California.  Degrees aside, people there are motivated, smart as shit, cleverer than you, and respect the responsibility of working in the US government.  Is he saying that everyone but him is stupid?  Has he ever thought about this??

Has he ever met any officer in the armed services?  Analysts?  Attorneys?  Aides?  Lobbyists?  Pundits?  Think tankers?

The guy said pyramids were grain storage and President Obama isn't black.  So smart.  We need you, Ben.

I might let Ben Carson operate on me because he is a brilliant surgeon. But run this country, never. He's now gone from the race but endorses the candidate that probably made him a deal. Deal maker Trump probably promised him a post in his administration. Christie also. That is how Trump has come so far, making deals.

And hopefully ruining their careers in the process.  Right after 2008, Republican identification was so low and then the Tea Party madness saw it drive away droves of moderates which shocked the hell out of them in 2012.

Trump will make history.  He will either be the most unskilled and ridiculously under-qualified person to win the White House or he will kill the Republican party with his own hubris.

Or both.

They'll have to fight Omarosa to the death for any position in the Trump administration until she finally gets one. God, I simply cannot believe how much air time MSNBC is giving that vile creature.  She is a stone cold narcissistic sociopath, much like Trump himself.  I imagine Trump's top positions will go to his awful family members and former Apprentice famewhores.  That's probably why he refuses to assemble any teams yet. He knows we'd all lose our minds when he announces who he picks to advise him on important subjects.

MJ works fine when they critically analyze the Republican political situation and it reminds me why I bother to DVR this thing and catch up with it. They were good a couple mornings ago.  But when it just becomes Repub talking points and bullshit of the day, with Mika clutching pearls and preening and Joe beating his chest and pontificating, then they lose me completely. Then they are a waste of air.

I have to agree.  The show when observational and non-partisan is good.  (I think it's especially good when they have non-political authors on and foreign policy experts and other non-biased mouthpieces).  I pine for the days of Agronsky & Company and I enjoy McLaughlin Group.

I continue to be baffled by journalists (?) who do not ask questions. Carson pooh-poohed his acrimonious treatment by Trump by writing it off as (paraphrasing) "things are said, in politics." I haven't heard anyone ask him if his praise for and endorsement of Trump are just "things being said." Secretary of Education, my asshole-uh. This entire Trump campaign has been like a bad acid trip: enough reality to convince you that you haven't totally lost it and enough fear and unease to convince you that you're not coming back this time.

Looking forward to hearing what Mom and Dad will say about this endorsement on Monday. Oh, joy.

Welcome to the Bizarre world edition of Morning Joe. Joe's navy blue fleece is back. Mika is wearing a navy blue sleeveless dress with a powder blue cape attached. Cackles,Barnicle, & professor Ed? , & Willie are there. Mika was exited to go to Nancy Reagan's funeral with Joe. Mika was breathless in her praise of Joe's op ed in the Washington Post where he calls the Trump tactics a scam etc. It's unbelievable. For months, Joe & the panel have been bragging how much fun his shows are & how it's bringing in new voters. Trump can do no wrong et. Now they say that Trump manipulated the media & stages the rally in areas where African Americans are in Chicago to provoke them. This is absurd. How many months did Mika & Joe let Trump get away with his act on their show? Does Joe forget the off air tape that was released when Mika agreed not to ask tough questions to Trump. Joe now thinks that Trump could lose the general election even if he wins the northeast industrial states. Cackles was mentioning a Republicans for Hillary movement.

Halperin thinks Trump may not win enough delegates to clinch the GOP nomination & that the other delegates would take it away from him. Really?

Mika said the country could be destroyed by the protests? I didn't hear her say that when she interviewed Melania a few weeks ago.

Mika & Joe should be honest with their viewers & apologize for not doing their jobs when they fawned over him non stop since last June.

I always get the sense when I watch this show's Trump contortions that Mika is always the last one in on the joke. Joe's as cynical as they come--he's been pimping Trump on this show for months, but now that it's taken an ugly (and potentially career-damaging) turn for him, he glides so effortlessly into his "I was never for him to begin with" schtick that you could almost believe him.

Mika seems to struggle with that more. She still flails about trying to find some way to justify her former pimpage. Today's storyline is that "He could have taken all that enthusiasm and done so much more with it!"

Also, it's reassuring to see that my hometown bro Mike Barnicle has reverted back to his former plagiaristic ways. This morning he made the profound statement that Trump's signature "You're fired!" line has been replaced by a new signature "Get 'em out!" line. How original, considering the NY Times made the identical observation two days ago.

Even tho Joe called Trump a scam artist, he was still trying to give him advice on how to recover from this weekend and get on track.

His op ed lost me when he mentioned Paris HIlton's sex tape.    Geesh, Joe, Paris Hilton?  You do know there is a much bigger sex tape scandal since Paris Hilton, right?  One that launched the West Coast version of Trump reality tv/huckster/fraud?   Little thing called the Kardashian/Jenner family.

I think so. Mika apologized to Rick Scott during the interview saying she knew that he was a friend of Joe's. I don't understand how relevant Scott's view of Trump's ban on Muslims idea is. Were they trying to embarrass him , so they could look tough? It would be nice if someone turned the tables on Joe and ask them if he will denounce his brother for supporting Trump?. Perhaps Joe can demand that Cackles denounce her parents for supporting Trump over the past 9 months. Joe has no credibility on Trump.

Stop the world because I wanna get off.  The idea of the jack of all trades and the mistress of none being paid with my tax dollars is enough to cause me to have a conniption.  There simply aren't enough words in the English language to describe how much I hate, loathe and despise this fame whore.  How many careers has she had now?  I understand that she has a divinity career and is currently a minister.  She and her fellow female huckster in ministry, "Pastor" Paula White, can kiss my entire ass for their slavish pandering to that bewigged, narcissistic cretin called Trump.  I have no doubt that Oh-No-Rosa helped to organize that farce of "100" Black ministers endorsing Trump.  Of course, when that mess was fully scrutinized in daylight, it was found to be an outright lie and a scam.  There's also a tell-tale picture of a bunch of "prosperity preachers," with Paula White front and center, laying hands on Trump and in fervent prayer.  Evidently, they believe that he will be the one to bring America back to God, etc.  Never have I SEEN such shameless shilling and pandering for shekels for the church collection plate!  In the biblical spectacles of the 50's and 60's, these frauds would have been struck down by lightning by now.

Only in that world that Meeka inhabits would someone be "excited" and breathless about attending a funeral.  Why?  Joe and Meeka's light and clarity moment is a day late and a dollar short.  I actually checked out Rachel Maddow's masterful and methodical timeline on how Trump has stoked racial animus for political points and she does a much better job.  Not to mention she has the gravitas that these two clowns lack.  Even if it wasn't for the violence, the language that clown uses to ramp up his minions should have horrified Joe and Meeka months ago.  Gems like "these people [the tossed out protesters) are what's wrong with America" say it all.  I remember how I was almost in tears when I heard Governor Romney's infamous 47 percent speech to his wealthy donors.  I can't even begin to describe how I have felt about what has been playing out ever since Trump announced his run.  That a presidential candidate would encourage his brown shirt thugs (a/k/a supporters) to rough up people who don't agree with him and offer to pay the legal expenses of the idiots who take him at his word tells me everything I need to know.  It also tells me everything I need to know about Joe and Meeka, who ignored this foolery up until now.
