It's weird how the network allows Joe to interview only his friends. He'll shoot the shit with the panel (Barnicle, Lemire etc.) occasionally interview a politician he likes and that's about it now. De Blasio, Demmings, Giridharadas, he was no where to be found. And I'm pretty sure he left before Lankford and Durbin showed up.

He blew off two senators, a member of the House who is a potential VP candidate and the mayor of the largest city in the country.

He used to at least welcome guests before handing the interview over to Willie or Mika, but he doesn't even do that any more.

Seriously, what are they paying this guy for?

Looks like Joe has left.

Where the hell is he going at six thirty in the morning?

ETA He's back.

Annd he's gone again.

Joe is in meetings with world leaders who want his opinions  on dealing with the Coronavirus.

Joe has developed talking points for each world leader which allows them to compare their nation's death tolls from the virus to important battles that the countries were involved in.

The death toll from Covid-19 is more than 70,000.  Joe says the virus is getting worse across the country.

Joe says the past week was a 9/11, Afghanistan War and Iraq War combined.  Joe seems disappointed that the last week was not equal to Vietnam.

Joe said that the president is not mentally well.  Joe's opinion is apparently based on his own expertise as a psychiatric practitioner as well as his experience living with Mika.

S.E. Cupp wrote a story in NY Daily News saying the president is not well. Joe is excited about her psychiatric opinion as a journalist.

Joe claims to be mad that the president tweeted about him. Come on. Joe loves that spotlight.  Seems like he and Mika get off on it.

Hmmm....maybe, I will return to watching again.

I really hope that now that Andy Lack is no longer in charge, that the new head of NBC News has a talk with Joe and Mika and tells them to get their asses out of the bunker and back to NY.  Also, to start interviewing people relevant to the stories they cover.  No having Joe disappear for large periods of the show and no more of Mika's Know Your Value.  I can dream, can't I?

How about going live for a full 3 hours, too.

Well, that kind of explains why the network has let Mika plug KYV so relentlessly. "See? We're not serial harassers! We Know Your Value, ladies!"

Mika & Joe stopped doing the full 3 hours live when they agreed to share a dressing room at Rockefeller Center. The repeat segment between 8-8:30 a.m. allowed Joe time to contact world leaders . Mika would send texts to her staff & encourage them to KYV.

It was exciting for viewers to see Mika & Joe return at 8 30 am with a change of clothes & occasionally messy hair.

At 6:30 Mika did an interview about PPE for medical workers.  This show continues to beat the same dead horse over and over.  We don't have a vaccine.  We don't have enough testing.  Society should shut down forever.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Even Mika looks bored.

Also, Mika incorrectly said that former Trump NSA Michael Flynn is in jail.  His case is still before a federal judge in DC and he has not been sentenced.  This woman is a total dumbass.

She was probably busy on Know Your Value posting about how to get time off work for bikini waxes and facials.

Does she have to do any preparation at all?

Serious question. Does Joe have something medical going on?

He didn't even make it to seven and he missed Claire McCaskill and Steve Schmidt, two politicians he likes.

He's back. (With fifteen minutes before he leaves again at eight.) I have no idea what the hell is going on.

I didn't care why he leaves.

Since his agenda is laser focused on one topic, I think he needs to apply for a job at FOX.

Mika is a problem for this show if the network intends to have a real news program.

Besides being over-emotional, she has a tendency to blurt out bizarre remarks that are not relevant to the topic at hand.  It has gotten worse during the Covid-19 situation.

Her only news skill is reading from a prepared script and even that is annoying!

I snark on Mika all the time, but that's not what she is saying. Nobody is saying that.

Yes, it is tiresome to hear the same problems repeated over and over, but it's tiresome that these problems are not being solved and people are pretending that they've all gone away. I'm glad someone, even if it's Mika, is pointing this out.

There are sooooo many other reasons to drag her. For example, yesterday when she was introducing Senator Dick Durbin she introduced him as "Senator Durbin from the Illinois."

Even though he has conservative roots, he has renounced the Republican party, which makes him too liberal for Fox.

CNN has some more conservative types on the weekend. Maybe he could do that.

I understand but there is no reason for a states that have relatively few Covid cases to shut down indefinitely.  At some point we have to go back out again. Life cannot stop forever.

There are risks in every day life that we tolerate, and I believe in risk mitigation to the best of our ability.

It is easy for those of us at home getting paid to say that stuff should just be shut down.  There are a lot of people earning nothing right now who are really hurting.

It is easy for rich people like Mika and Joe to say everything should shut.If more media people got laid off and were paid nothing maybe they would leave their bubble.

CNN would never give Joe a show and put up with his shenanigans.

He would be relegated to be being a part of their multi pundit panel on Anderson Cooper's show or the like.

Joe's head would explode from frustration. Although seeing him go head to head with CNN contributor Rick Santorum might make for fun TV.

I remember when Joe was invited to be a panelist on Meet the Press & ended up shouting over all the other panelists heads. It was so noisy that Todd had to beg to go to commercial break. Joe was not invited back.  Joe does not behave well when he has to participate in discussions with others.

No one is saying to shut down indefinitely.  Mika isn't saying that. Joe isn't saying that. None of the experts they have on the show are saying that. Everyone is saying yes, open up, but put the safety measures in place to protect people and follow the appropriate guidelines for the caseloads in a given state.

The discussion on the show is around the fact that those measures have not been put in place and need to be and the guidelines are being ignored.

It isn't even 6:15 and Joe is pleading with trump to listen to him and take his advice or he's going to loose reelection.

Why are you so concerned?

Because railing against Trump is the only thing Joe does now?  Without him in office, would Joe have to actually cover news?  That would take away from his time providing guidance to world leaders and applying hair gel.

A big problem with the "discussion" of the problems surrounding the coronavirus on the show is that Joe and Mika suck at their jobs. They are too invested in scoring easy political points against the president (They even ask guests to talk directly to him!) than educating their viewers on a really complex issue.

That I agree with. They’re delivering the message poorly and they’re too wrapped up in the personal aspects.

I will admit that I don't watch the show all that often anymore; I kind of flip it on, see what they are discussing/who is on and then either stay or flip to local news.  But lately I keep it on to see if Joe is actually there.  Just when I think he is "off" - he will appear, spout something or interrupt a guest, and then he is gone again.

I snickered today when Heileman was trying to talk, Joe kept trying to interrupt him, Heileman kept talking, Joe kept interrupting and finally Heileman stopped and let Joe say whatever it was he wanted to say.  Heileman picked back up when Joe stopped talking.  I loved his (Heileman's) hoodie this morning; against the backdrop of his white kitchen, it "popped" ... yes, I watch too much HGTV.

I wondered what they were going to say about the Ahmaud Arbery case and how much time they devoted to it.  Did they go into it much or just some easy sanctimonious platitudes?   Did Joe say anything about his Southern brethren?

See my post above.

They played a video clip of trump's reaction to the arrests from yesterday and an audio from Joe Biden's virtual town hall from Jacksonville FL yesterday.

You can probably figure out the rest.

This may be off-topic, but since it involves a used-to-be regular on show ... I figured I would post it here.

Has anyone seen Noah Rothman lately? I didn’t recognize him at first tonight; he was on with Steve Kornacki.  It must be the combination of the lighting at his house and his new hairstyle. He looked younger and kind of cute. Then he started to talk.

Landsnark ...there was some discussion on the Cruz/Joe Twitter dust-up in the Host's column.  But I am surprised there wasn't more; maybe everyone was busy wondering how Mother's Day became surreal.

I must ask, even though this has been discussed here before.  How in the name of all that is holy can a morning news show (yes, i know) get by with rerunning the newsiest (yes, I know) portion of it's show in the 8:00 time slot?  How can the main host disappear for large chunks of time?  How can a leading co-host (yes, I know) be allowed to simply parrot her co-host (ha, co-host) and appear in a mismatched colorful, printed pajama top and dark sweater/shroud? I am not trying to be The Fashion Police (I am still in pj's) but from the neck up she looks polished.  I guess if someone from the network nicely talked to her about her choice of clothing - it would be considered harassment?   Katie Tur and Kasie Hunt, both at 9 months pregnant looked more put-together than Meeka.
